Neat idea which has given me some other ideas for mods. I'd like to be able to put a lid on the bucket so everything stays self-contained without spillage as you trek to your fishing spot(s) which are sometimes not easy to get to. To accomplish this I think I am going to incorporate a 90 degree corner bracket to the outside bottom bolts using a wingnut, then drive a tent spike through each such bracket to secure the bucket to the ground. I'll also have another tent spike and a short piece of rope to attach to the handle which will be positioned on the opposite side of the bucket and driven in to provide a 3rd anchor point. To make everything fit I may have to shorten the lengths of the PVC tubes slightly, but envision everything fitting inside the bucket and staying put once the lid is in place (including a hammer or hand axe for driving the stakes). Again, great idea and thanks for the inspiration! Thinking even further, holes could be cut into the lid to allow the PVC to pass through the lid which can be left in place to provide a small surface for tackle, bait cutting, drink, etc. Lots of potential and if/when I get some of these manufactured perhaps I'll post some pictures.

I made this and it worked. it worked so good the fish tipped the bucket over and I almost lost my rods. lol. So I wrapped a Rope around the bucket and now I anchor the bucket in with tent pegs or a long pole. Cheers.

Glad you didn’t lose any gear! Did you use the rebar on the inside to anchor the bucket? I usually pound it in about 4”-5” for stability.

Only loosen you drag when rod is in stand. This should be done at ALL times.Seen many a rod being lost because of locked drag.

Really nice project, I see myself making this in the near future. I'm planning on spot welding a "T" on the rebar to give myself a handle to grab when it's time to install and remove. Thanks for the awesome instructions.

Great video . just happened to come across your videos watching fishing videos .
I have been fishing in Texas in three rivers choke canyon area. Nothing has been biting the past week for anyone.
I think it's do to the weather. Flip flopping around cold ,hot ,raining.
I'm going to be making a fish trap for catching perch and minnows.
Try my luck setting out a few throw lines
I have been a fisherman all my life and Am always willing to learn more (over 52yrs old retired)
Great videos and very useful information
I would love to see videos on simple easy to use fish traps if you should make any .

@@KCLOutdoors I'm sure you know already about fishing traps .
If you make a video about them remind people about the size of the trap .
I'm not sure what state your in but in Texas I believe they can only be 2ft by 2ft .
      Each state my vary .
I have seen many videos from different states. Where they were allowed to use game fish as bait and it's legal .
Such as small large mouth bass in Texas that would be fine if you are caught doing it.

Drill through the 45 degree fitting and pvc pipe and secure fitting to pipe with a through bolt so you can remove the45 fitting and stand rods upright in the pipe for transport to the beach. Might be less chance of rod damage and a handy rod rack in the garaqe too.

I thought the idea of using a bucket was to be able to carry other supplies? You left no room. Just a bucket that singles as a rod holder. Nothing else

Actually, I fit 2 Plano boxes, paper towels, sinkers, hammer and bug spray in the bucket. Plenty of room to store things. You can customize it any way that works for you. Thanks!
