Neat idea which has given me some other ideas for mods. I'd like to be able to put a lid on the bucket so everything stays self-contained without spillage as you trek to your fishing spot(s) which are sometimes not easy to get to. To accomplish this I think I am going to incorporate a 90 degree corner bracket to the outside bottom bolts using a wingnut, then drive a tent spike through each such bracket to secure the bucket to the ground. I'll also have another tent spike and a short piece of rope to attach to the handle which will be positioned on the opposite side of the bucket and driven in to provide a 3rd anchor point. To make everything fit I may have to shorten the lengths of the PVC tubes slightly, but envision everything fitting inside the bucket and staying put once the lid is in place (including a hammer or hand axe for driving the stakes). Again, great idea and thanks for the inspiration! Thinking even further, holes could be cut into the lid to allow the PVC to pass through the lid which can be left in place to provide a small surface for tackle, bait cutting, drink, etc. Lots of potential and if/when I get some of these manufactured perhaps I'll post some pictures.
I made this and it worked. it worked so good the fish tipped the bucket over and I almost lost my rods. lol. So I wrapped a Rope around the bucket and now I anchor the bucket in with tent pegs or a long pole. Cheers.
Great video! Straight to the point, no bullshit or product placements. Easy to follow and great results for the low cost involved to build the rod holders. Keep up the good work!
Really nice project, I see myself making this in the near future. I'm planning on spot welding a "T" on the rebar to give myself a handle to grab when it's time to install and remove. Thanks for the awesome instructions.
Man I’m very impressed with that project!!! You’re brilliant!!! Can’t see myself putting the sweat and time into it. But the concept is awesome!!!!! 👍🏾👍🏾
Good thinking I like that maybe if you made your rebar with a handle on it like A L shape might be easier to put in the ground and pull out of the ground if I still use small rides like that I would use that kind of setup I like that
Just a thought cover the bottom screw holes with silicon sealant and seal around the pvc tube which you put the bar through and make the bucket waterproof so you can keep the fish alive if you want
Hey Sir. Awesome video and project. I have been looking for something g like this for many a year. I have made two now one for me and one for my best friend Mick so we don’t have problems here in the Peterborough UK on the river bank. Once again awesome and we will be looking out for more of your videos. Kind regards Paul.
Great video . just happened to come across your videos watching fishing videos . I have been fishing in Texas in three rivers choke canyon area. Nothing has been biting the past week for anyone. I think it's do to the weather. Flip flopping around cold ,hot ,raining. I'm going to be making a fish trap for catching perch and minnows. Try my luck setting out a few throw lines I have been a fisherman all my life and Am always willing to learn more (over 52yrs old retired) Great videos and very useful information I would love to see videos on simple easy to use fish traps if you should make any .
@@KCLOutdoors I'm sure you know already about fishing traps . If you make a video about them remind people about the size of the trap . I'm not sure what state your in but in Texas I believe they can only be 2ft by 2ft . Each state my vary . I have seen many videos from different states. Where they were allowed to use game fish as bait and it's legal . Such as small large mouth bass in Texas that would be fine if you are caught doing it.
By the way I am now a new member to your channel and I will recommend you to all my friends keep up the great information on easy to make fishing equipment
Got all the necessary parts. Add sealer like mentioned earlier, add your worm bedding, worms-night crawlers and instant bait holder/rod holder. All in 1😃
That is a great idea, can the drill parts be sealed and also adding a plug in the bottom to hold ice or water and bleed your fish? The plug to drain your bucket before leaving your fishing spot. All around your bucket rod holder rocks!
Excellent idea, I would rather not put the spike thru the bottom of the bucket but fill it up with water instead, you can then use the water to clean your hands after putiin on new bait every time.
I fish on rocks and I have been trying to figure out a way to set up rod holders. This is pretty close to something that I can do. But the rebar is a no go for me
Drill through the 45 degree fitting and pvc pipe and secure fitting to pipe with a through bolt so you can remove the45 fitting and stand rods upright in the pipe for transport to the beach. Might be less chance of rod damage and a handy rod rack in the garaqe too.
Sweet! Nicely done my friend and the possibilities are endless. Was thinking adding a 5/8" axle and a pair of Harbor Freight wheels and voila...a pier cart! Liked and subscribed! Tight lines!
I cut the rebar roughly 10" longer than the height of the bucket. I keep a hammer in the bucket to help drive in the rebar on hard banks. I also keep a 12" 2x4 to put under the front of the bucket to level it out on steeper banks. Let me know how yours works out!
@@KCLOutdoors I'm going to use it for salt water flats fishing. Trout and redfish so not that big a fish. Only problem I would have is if a shark hits my bait.
I don’t make the buckets to sell. You can pick up a bucket and all the necessary items at your local home improvement store. I am making another video with some extra modifications to the rig. Hope that helps!
Well it’s one way of doing it 🤔 but so much wasted space. 1. Why do rebar pipe outside so doesn’t take away from being able to add water? 2. Why not silicone the two pipes inside at base and screw holes so can add water to it? 3. I just don’t see any purpose for having that bucket space not be used for storage, bait, or bringing back lunch.
All good ideas. I can store 3 Plano boxes, cast net, skeeter dope, flashlights and a water bottle. Making the bucket water tight would work for different applications. Thanks for your input! 👍👍
I thought the idea of using a bucket was to be able to carry other supplies? You left no room. Just a bucket that singles as a rod holder. Nothing else
Actually, I fit 2 Plano boxes, paper towels, sinkers, hammer and bug spray in the bucket. Plenty of room to store things. You can customize it any way that works for you. Thanks!

Glad you didn’t lose any gear! Did you use the rebar on the inside to anchor the bucket? I usually pound it in about 4”-5” for stability.
@@KCLOutdoors LOL This is a very crucial step to not forget ... cheers. hahaha
Only loosen you drag when rod is in stand. This should be done at ALL times.Seen many a rod being lost because of locked drag.
Awesome video brother..there are endless possibilities with that bucket set up like add a tool holder or a cutting board
Cutting board is a good idea. I have a small tool pouch for pliers, knives, line and extras to toss in the bottom.

Good idea with the T-Handle!
If you don't have a welder, bending a hook on the end of the rebar would probably work also.
You can get an old metal rebar water key (which already has the T handle) Just cut the flange on the end off and you are good to go.
Nice project! Simple, straight forward and really functional.

Can you make rod holders for bank fishing, with a auger on the end?

Can you give the sizes of the drill bits and screws and bolts please
I used 10/32 machine screws and a 5/32” drill bit. It’s been a year and everything is holding up just fine. Hope that helps!
@@KCLOutdoors yes sir and thanks
How long is your rebar piece and do you need a hammer for harder banks to put in the rebar ?

How much did all the materials cost?
Right around $6.00 total for PVC parts. Under $3.00 in hardware. Plus the bucket. Basically $10.00. Thanks for watching!
Awesome mate. Thanks.
Glad you liked the video!!
I like the idea but wouldnt just putting water in the bucket keep it from tipping over?
I don’t think water would hold the bucket during a flathead strike. A 25 pounder could probably drag everything into the river. Thanks!

Thanks for your tip I do have one more question I was trying to judge the length of your 1 1/2 pvc does it hang up above the bucket like 4-6 inches ?
The 1 1/2" pieces are roughly 6" taller than the bucket. Any shorter and the rod butts might hit the back of the bucket.
Freaking awesome 👏👍

What are the two sizes of pvc pipes you use
The rod holders are 1 1/2” and the bucket piece is 1/2”
@@KCLOutdoors Thank you
Very nice
Thanks!
Awesome!
What size the screw you use to connect the pvc to the bucket?
I used machine screws. Either 10/32 or 8/32 will work. 1/2" long and 3" long. You could start with longer ones and cut them off flush.
@@KCLOutdoors thank you, i have use 10 24 scew but look like it little weak for it
Can this work with only 1 rod holder?
Yes. I have used it with a single rod. The rebar keeps the bucket stationary.
Awesome

Easier to rivet rather than drill both sides

What pipe diameters do you use?
The elbows and inner pipe are 1 1/2” sch 40. The uprights in the bucket are 2” sch 40
just fill it with water and it shouldnt tip over
