I didnt think about using a piece of pipe like that. Very helpful video
Ive watched a lot of videos trying to get ideas on this exact topic. I really like this one the best. Good job.
I've been very happy with it!
thanks for doing this man, im gonna give it a shot on my ram!
Let's see the pics! My buddy has a Ram. Still convincing him to try it!
Might try that design. Good video!
Let me know how it comes out!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, I am going to setup something like this for the back of my boat.
Send me a picture to my gmail! I'd love to see it!
Good job man
Good design. Only critique I have is when I made mine on my f150 I found putting two sheet metal screws in each cap beneficial because I had a problem of only one screw wearing a hole in the sheet metal that eventually allowed the screw to slip out and taking the cap with it (happened when putting on/ taking off the pvc pipe and I like this design because you can take the pipe off if you're hauling a lot of cargo)
Genius, now you just need one for a fly rod😉
Evan, I am trying to tackle that problem right now! I'll think about it and get back to you.
Very nice baitcasters
Good idea! Thank you!
You're welcome!
how well is it with highway speeds?
Use the bungee's! I have driven 80MPH with no problem!
does it have to be side ways or can it be strait up
You could make it vertical I bet. Just cut the holes slightly different!
Where'd you score the black PVC? I cant find it anywhere!
Home depot or lowes
Did you paint it? All Lowes and Home Depot have around me is the white stuff.
Not to bad but are you sure it's PVC pipe? Looks more like ABS pipe that might get soft in the hot sun? Also the holes are ragged and not clean like holes cut into PVC usually look. Try a schedule 40 PVC that is stiffer and harder than ABS but using it outside is not a good idea as it gets brittle and can crack easy in direct sunlight in a year or two. Or you could just buy a T-Rex Tough Fishing Rod Holder for about the same price where all this work has already been done by a team with over 50 years experience professionally fabricating the best Rod Holders barring none. They are guaranteed for 10 years!!! Your friends would really be impressed. Thanks.
I respect the hustle...
@@CatchingColorado Just the truth, no BS or hype.
What size for the drill hole bit please?
1.5 inch I think
what size bolts for the bed ?
I can't remember. I think I bought a few sizes to see what worked well for my truck specifically. Maybe 1/4"
@@CatchingColorado thanx
Is the PVC tearing up the handles at all?
Not so far. It's worked really well.
Thanks for responding. I went ahead and built one. Works great.
Tree limb gonna grab ya
Hasn't happened yet. ;)
Nice idea. Please loose the music!
Hahah. Can't loose the music now... Go SOONERS!
Well, in that case. Boomer!
Why does everyone begin the video with, “whats up guys?”. No original thoughts on youtube.
I have gotten better. Seen any of my new stuff. That was a hard habit to quit. Not sure why we all do it
Ummmm good luck going under trees
Not much of that here.
Any issues with them crossing?
Not yet. It's been pretty solid. I have bungee'd the rod tips before but it doesn't seem to help or hurt.
