I only saw two of the streams, only watching that one where he tried to make his way through a forest of zombies, quite tense. The amount of times he died makes me think of how I probably would’ve given up.
No animals being around because it's too cold is not consistent with real life whatsoever. If the water isn't frozen over, you can fish. If it IS frozen over, you cand break a piece of the ice and fish. And animals are ALWAYS foraging for food unless it's a downright blizzard.
yep, though its mostly small game that goes into hidding when winter hits. though foxes and most preditors do still roam and hunt. most larger do so as well minus the known hybernaters.
@@delphicdescant There are less animals during winter because they want winter to be harder even if its at the cost of realism. Hence, almost like this is a game, not real life. Try rubbing those 3 braincells together and maybe you could've figured it out for yourself.
Tip for winter foraging. Rose hips are always safe to eat and are surprisingly good fir calories. Not enough to fatten you up but enough to stop weight loss. And they are nonperishables. They requirere some skill to find though.
as well, while not very viable unless you have levels in it, you can still fish during winter at dusk for a small chance of catching fish, you get a 20% reduction to fishing during this time, which means if you have no levels in it you wont catch anything but if you have levels you have a chance
So... obviously, it's completely within your own discretion as to how you handle these types of challenges. But, as a viewer.. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with you making regular backups of the game/character, and if you die, reverting back to the last backup. The only reason I used to make backup saves for mine, was because I run the game on my PC, but stream it (via Steam Remote Play) to my laptop in another room. The problem with that, was that I was using a cable to connect the 2 computers, and every so often, the connection would get interrupted, and I had to DC the stream or the game would just crash. And... PZ isn't the kind of game you can just stand idle for 5-45 seconds (the amount of time it would/could take to reconnect to my PC & the game). Seemingly more often than not, it would be a death sentence to stand idle in that way. And since that death wasn't really something that was my fault, I would permit myself to restore the save files to the backup save I made before starting up the game that morning. If I DID legit die, because I was over-run, or too slow, or just messed up somehow, then I would respawn, and rush to where I'd died to kill my zombie self and reclaim all my gear/ect. It was only when I died, through no fault of my own, that I would allow myself to revert to a back-up. I feel like that is something that would be moderately acceptable for you to do in some of these challenges, so long as you acknowledge that you're doing it, and keep a running tally of how many times you'd died and had to revert to a back-up save. I'm sure you won't... as it doesn't really seem your style. BUT, I just thought I'd give voice to my opinion that; it wouldn't be all that bad if you opted to do so. Great video, btw! Always really enjoy your PZ content.
But "This is how you died". Death is inevitable with pz. The feeling you get when you lose that 20hr character or 73 day into a 100 day run is amazing and sad. It's what keeps me coming back after 1800 hrs of pz. I've recently started doing sprinter only runs and it's such a slow way to play the game until it's not lol. One mistake and it's day 1 again. 1:04:04 *Aktually* they're not. This seems to be a pretty common misconception. I think this idea has grown as we understand that both bows and crossbows were around at the same time, therefore each has to have *something* that the other doesn't. When you look at the poundage's of crossbows, they've often stated as a lot higher, which makes it seem like they must be more inherently powerful. In truth, crossbows (most of all steel limbed medieval ones) have very short power strokes, which means that a high poundage can be deceptively weak (relatively speaking) - and the steel limbed bows (the highest poundages you'll likely see) are fearsomely inefficient. Poundage isn't everything. As for why crossbows were around at the same time as bows; there's a few things, but I think the biggest is that they're easy to use. You can pretty much train anyone to shoot and load a high poundage crossbow in a day - but a bow of the same power (as in, energy on target) will take years of slowly training up to be able to shoot that powerful bow. Other than that, there's "little" things like a crossbow can be loaded and held at full draw, ready to shoot, which seemingly helped them become a common sight in medieval hunting.

Ok, so.. I've just finished the video, and I'll admit... I'm really into this. I'm quite eager to see more! Additionally, that ending.. it's - [spoilers] . . . . . . . - ideal to keep us (the viewers) engaged with your character. Project Zomboid is one of those games where; safety and survival are relative. You can _virtually_ never be 100% safe. And, given *_that_* context (along with my own PZ experience), it's becomes obvious to _anyone,_ that; you being swarmed in an extremely dark, and fully enclosed area, is about as dangerous a scenario as it gets in this game. And the suspense is knowing that, at any second, you could be bitten and die. I was bummed when I saw the "To Be Continued" at the end, because I knew I'd have to await the next episode's release.. But, I'm also pleased by it.. because it means that there will be more of this.. where we get to see where your character goes/what happens to her in the long run. Sorry to repeat it again, but... GG dude. I really enjoyed this video, and think very much that you are improving on both; PZ, AND Video/Content creation. Keep up the great work, my dude! You keep making, and I'll keep watching. ;)
I love the spear trap mod. I just wish you didn't take damage when you walked over them. Running over them, yes. Walking, that should be seen as you carefully stepping over the pit.
41:05 Idk if you find this out later or not but Zomboid fishing works at certain hours like irl fishing. Theres specific times the fish are active and trying to fish at those times gives higher yields
Loved the vid, loved the run, really loved your narration. The combination of some slight roleplay and a whole lot of explaining your actions? Chef's kiss. Can't wait for a part 2. Or your next run, if you're sick of this one.
I like this over a bunch of other 100 day challenges like "100 days in Minecraft with only one block" or "100 days in sky block" or "100 days without jumping in Minecraft", funny how it's all Minecraft really but they're all memey and trying to farm clicks. Videos like these though where it's an actual challenge whether it's someone learning a new game from the ground up like vintage story or this challenge where it's actually difficult and not artificially so.

Oh damn that horde sound 😂 will be excited to see part 2 and maybe 3 if I remember the bits of the streams I caught. This is going to be a hell of an epic ❤
Another banger from the OG
Can't wait for build 42 remake of this challenge
Zomboid God really threw you a bone with that jump. 😂
The Valheim meadows theme really caught me off guard.
The Rimmworld sountrack in the background is so nice.
1:55:53 "It's February. The month we started on." Well then doesn't that mean you survived a year?
would love to see you do a series like this in vintage story
Thanks for the Mod pack.... I play with buddies on a server I rent, but sometimes want to run around and do something hard af
I did not expect this to end on a cliffhanger! Can't wait for the resolution
The Halo ODST music in the background was beautiful. 👍
Ok, so.. I've just finished the video, and I'll admit... I'm really into this. I'm quite eager to see more!
Additionally, that ending.. it's - [spoilers]

You keep making, and I'll keep watching. ;)
Don’t hit me with Deference to darkness that soon in the video🥲
I love the spear trap mod. I just wish you didn't take damage when you walked over them. Running over them, yes. Walking, that should be seen as you carefully stepping over the pit.
41:05 Idk if you find this out later or not but Zomboid fishing works at certain hours like irl fishing. Theres specific times the fish are active and trying to fish at those times gives higher yields
After months of streaming you finally finished it man high quality video as always
really enjoyed this vid, exited for i survived 2 years
This was an immaculate video. The editing was fantastic, the animations were insane, but not overpowering. And the score. Jeez dude. This is cinema
Gotta love the Halo ODST music, so much nostalgia from that.
I really enjoy the editing that goes into these videos. Well Done!
1 YEAR days
mmm yes, grammar
@@thraexgladiator oops
Awwww you corrected it :(
This serie is so cool. Can't wait to see what you could do next. No hopes for the horde tho hahaha!
Great video:)
Loved the vid, loved the run, really loved your narration. The combination of some slight roleplay and a whole lot of explaining your actions? Chef's kiss. Can't wait for a part 2. Or your next run, if you're sick of this one.
always love a good ricksdetrix video❤
the odst music speaks to my soul 👌
I like this over a bunch of other 100 day challenges like "100 days in Minecraft with only one block" or "100 days in sky block" or "100 days without jumping in Minecraft", funny how it's all Minecraft really but they're all memey and trying to farm clicks. Videos like these though where it's an actual challenge whether it's someone learning a new game from the ground up like vintage story or this challenge where it's actually difficult and not artificially so.
Fate itself save you from that zombie
@31:50 Grab and Drop mod would've saved you there. It gives you keybinds to drop and grab bags.
I use grab and drop actually, I just never bind the bag drop
@@Ricksdetrix Oh? I can't live without the keybind anymore haha
oh so a primitive technology run in zomboid (his channel really is just him starting off in shorts and going from there)
