Pilates for Seniors & Beginners // all Standing 20 minute Workout

- Please join me for this quick full body all standing Pilates workout. These exercises are perfect for Seniors and Beginners or anyone who is not comfortable getting on the floor or on their hands and knees but love the benefits of Pilates. Anyone can benefit from this workout as it can be made to be more challenging as well.
We will work all the major muscle groups in this full body workout. There are lots of posture and balance exercises as well. Everything is joint friendly, low impact and effective.
As always, go at your own pace and work your way up if you find some the exercises challenging. Just go slow, take a break when needed and return when you are ready.
You don’t need any equipment for this standing Pilates workout with the exception of a chair to aid with some moves including stretching and some optional modified planks!
We will finish the workout feeling great!

I will be 83 in August, but found this quite doable - well, I did need assistance of the chair - but I felt really proud that I could (sort of) make it! I've previously tried Pilates and found it too challenging, but this was great! Thank you, Lauren. I follow a few of your other workouts too, because I like a bit of variety, and using different groups of muscles. Thanks again!

wow, good for you my dad just turned 85 and there is no way he could or would even try this work out. You should be proud. I have bad feet so work outs are difficult and I am only 59, turn 60 next month. You give me inspiration

Hi Lauren, First let me say that I love all your workouts! I'm 63 years old, and very active, and weight conscience. This workout was challenging, but doable; to me it also had a little aerobic feeling. I definitely had a little perspiration going on. I personally would love to see another Pilates standing workout with a longer duration. Keep your wonderful workouts coming. I especially love your kickboxing workouts, I'm a big fan of kickboxing. Generally a fan of these short formats - 15 - 20 mins. can always be worked into the day. Nice to have some variety. Also, the standing work is easy on the neck. On the floor, it can get flared up for some reason - maybe bc mine is quite long and skinny. But, I do enjoy more challenging options.

Am really loving these workouts. I use the chair a lot but that’s okay as I’m practicing my balance every time. Was kinda uncoordinated on some of the moves, so will need to do this one again. Thanks for making these standing workouts. Watched one of your wall workouts - no way was I going to be able to do them, but who knows maybe some time down the road I might decide to at least give them a try lol. I just have trouble getting down and up again.

Love 💕 💕 this Pilates workout ,Lauren. This really tested my balance which is great! Like your other subscribers, I prefer standing workouts like this one. I am Not too comfortable with floor exercises although I always try to do it.

This is great! I'm in late 40s, and started C25K (really want to run a 5K), but didn't know where to go for strength training exercises. There's so much advice out there for new runners and everything seems so overwhelming. I've never tried Pilates before and this video covers A LOT of what I've heard as recommendations. Ya know I really like those modified push ups. You can do them anywhere, any time....like while your waiting for your toaster to toast your toast or even brewing your green tea or even on the trails during a walk !!! Its a good thing !

I'm in my late 20s but recovering from surgeries so I've been inactive for a year now. I don't know how many begginner workout videos I watched, all were simply impossible for to me follow in my current condition. So thank you so much, I'm truly grateful for this!!💜
I've noticed I have a problem with breathing tho. I can't time inhale exhale properly 🙈 If you could remind us at what step we should inhale and exhale it'd be great. Or if you could share tips on proper breathing pattern that can be applied to certain type of moves I'd really appreciate it.🥰💜
Awesome! I'm so glad you found my channel and it works well for you! A good breathing tip is to always exhale on the exertion. For example, exhale when the muscle is contracting like when you're squeezing your bicep up on a bicep curl. Or on the "lifted" part of a crunch. Please don't overthink it either! Timing movements with breathing can help, but it's not always 100% necessary. I certainly don't match it to every move all the time either. I feel it's more important to think about proper form especially if you are just starting out. I hope that helps! Go easy on yourself girl!
