Well it's about time us shorter riders got a break, having the lower seat coming standard, usually we have to be the ones that have to purchase the lower option, Thank you Moto we salute ur new top shelf bike.😁💯🇦🇺
Yep. Took the bike for a ride with Steves_ADV and put the bike through its paces and the 3d printed pads looked brand new, but dusty where the seat doesn't press them.
Fantastic video outie you are very clever. I know mine are missing like yours, probably first time I put it back on. High seat definitely looks more comfy . Cheers Bazz.
Yep it is really good for height and extra padding for bumps. Sounds like you could do with a set of the 3d printed pads. If you want, message me on Instagram or email your postal address and I'll send a set out for you to test.
For me the first thing was butt comfort than seat height. The taller seat is also flatter so I can move back n forward on it. With my lower seat I did find it easy to slide up to the tank end but did not check if the front rubber caps are missing. The taller seat is a bit tougher to slide towards the tank end and I have now glued the rubber mounts to the seat. I like the 3D printer idea and have been interested in getting one and using it to print various little parts that are not easy to get or replace. I have been looking at bar raisers too. Not to raise them much but to try and move them forward a bit. I have already rolled them forward/upwards like I have on my enduro bike. It seems like everything I have thought of and been looking at doing, you have already dpne them or had similar ideas. Thanks.
Yeah it is handy having a 3d printer. I use tinkercad to make things as it's relatively easy to use. It's just a website so it's pretty basic but good enough for simple designs. I just put the bar raisers on and they are excellent.
Happened the same to me, noticed it was missing one rubber on the dealership so they changed the sea, as soon as I arrived home I popped the seat and the robber was next to the battery, I think it falls when you are putting the seat back
Great video but i think it's always better to mention your inside leg length when refering to seat height as we all have different body sizes also, cheers and well done.
maaaate, your 'vlog' is exceptional and i for one appreciate the 'flaws' being addressed from a fellow tall man's perspective; looks like i will add another inch (25mm) to my seat foam; hopefully there's enough cover material so that i can undo it and re-use it; if not, well it wouldn't be the first time i've needed to re-cover a bike seat.... i was thinking of your solution for the seat rubbers as soon as i realised (discovered) what the seat rubbers contact with; my immediate thought was to take the seat rubbers from the base and simply add them to the frame instead but your design is much better; to add to this 'mod', if i may make a suggestion: it would be beneficial to fill the hole where the original rubbers sit in the seat and i would (will) glue your new parts to the frame; a good contact cement should do the trick; did you make sure to re-glue all the other seat base rubbers while you're at it?....again, i would (will) when i get my 450MT; hopefully by the end of this month if the dealer is to be taken on his word; Question: do you take 'custom' work requests with your 3d printer by any chance?; i have a little project i am working on that would benefit from 3D printed parts; i just need someone i can trust to do the job; i have already made prototypes that i can send to you. Cheers!
Where the holes in the frame are, is not where the seat rubbers contact. They contact about 1.5cm towards the front of the bike, so if you do glue the seat ones in, I'd suggest glueing to the seat. The 3d printed ones fit nice and firmly and physically cannot come out when the seat is on as they are held in place by the seat as well as the lug part that goes into the hole. What is it that you're prototyping?
@@outie555 ah ok.....it's hard to know the exact situation re the frame/base rubber contact point without having seen it in the flesh; did you remove the front rubbers from the new seat? are you going to make your new 3D printed to sell? if so, i'd like a pair please; i am prototyping slot car parts; i small matchbox car size chassis and one scalextric size chassis so far with more to follow.
Great info and great plug design. Im looking at the 450MT but im 6'2/186cm. Do you think you could achieve an even higher seat by just getting an upholsterer to just add ~70cm padding to the stock seat? DR650 riders have been doing this for years and it seems like the only negative for me when considering this bike.
I'm 185 and the high seat is ok, you'll be alright. People are starting to experiment on lower foot pegs so that would probably be the better option for you.
Hey mate, are you able to measure both seats width wise on the front part? Where the legs touch it when reaching for the ground. I’ve only tried the low seat and felt like it was pushing my legs out on the inside of the leg a bit too much. I wonder if the high seat is considerably narrower. Cheers
Can you get lower foot pegs for this bike? That would probably help even more, and it appears there's room for them to come down as well. Wondering if anyone will make some? I'm considering purchasing one of these, however I'm 6'3" so obviously a concern. CF Moto also offers a taller windshield as a factory option as well, along with bar risers.
Honda put a lot of work into placement, number and material of these (sometimes having different material/density at eaxh end etc). They test various set ups on each new bike they design. It's all down to comfort and reducing noise and vibration. I get the feeling this level of detail isn't as strong with the Chinese bikes?
Great skills in 3D Printing Outie! Is there a groove cutout in the sheet metal to lock the parts in or have you printed it to be the thickness of the sheet metal tabs? I wonder if they can simply be rectangular in profile & have a wider groove tang (or 2) to squeeze in? The 870mm seat can be set to 850mm by using the lowest link in the rear shock arm🤔
The metal part has a hole in them already, probably so the same part can be used in other bikes in the cfmoto range. The 3d printed pads have a lug that just pops into them for a firm fit.
Hi Outie, Picked up my MT on Friday, used but with very low K’s. Found that both those seat rubbers are already gone! Have you started selling those 3D printed ones yet because I’ll definitely need them. How do I purchase directly? Cheers, Pete

great video, thanks again for an amazing solution. what is your opinion about a customizing the normal seat and make it higher and not buying the higher one?
If you don't like the colour of the tall seat then it's not a bad idea. But will probably end up costing a similar price to the seat from cfmoto if you pay someone to do it. If I had the choice I would get the cfmoto tall one as it's pretty good.
Depends what you mean. Obviously the high seat has a grey centre piece rather than the black of the stock. It also comes two different versions where the only difference is the colour of the little stripe on the side. Yellow or pink to match the bikes colour choice.
Nope, didn't get a chance. They fell off the low seat within hours of owning the bike. The tall rubbers fell off at the dealership when they installed the seat on my first service.
Hi, i'm exactly the same height. Waiting for my tall seat also to be delivered. In your opinion, what would be the ideal windscreen height to change to?
Great video thanks - could you measure the distance from foot peg to top of standard seat and then same dimension on the high seat please if its not too much trouble?
mate - how much is the taller seat in Oz ? Am gonna need one too. Our dealer here had no clue they existed when I ordered my bike - they chased the country importer - who also has no clue :(
I’m about to take delivery of my new 450mt and at 6ft 2 think I’ll prob need a taller windshield. With the taller seat do you find the one you got at 45cm sufficient or would a 50cm/55cm be better? I have seen them on Ali Express also.
I got the tallest screen from cfmoto when I preordered it . With the high seat on and tall windshield the wind is ok but would be better with a few extra cm in windscreen height. My tall screen is 45cm tall and with the small seat was ok for my 6'1" with the wind on my helmet, but the tall seat is better for anyone over 175cm and this means I get some wind the top of my helmet. I've just ordered a deflector to attach to the top of the windshield so when that comes in I can see if it makes a big difference. And if I've got time I'll see if it works on the short windscreen. It's certainly ridable with tall shield and seat. When off roading you'll want a smaller screen so you don't head butt it. If I was to order the screen again I would go the 50cm option. But I don't know if that would feel too tall offroading.
@@outie555 thanks so much, this is the info I was after. I think I’ll wait into the tall seat arrives and then see how I sit then probably order a 50cm. I guess you can wind it down when off-road which will help a bit
I thought about putting the design up for free but decided to print and sell them so I can put the small profits from each one aside to buy upgraded camera and audio gear for the channel.
Yes that should work, but a lot of people don't realise until it's too late and they have gone. Ironically having learned this when I got home with the tall seat on (dealer installed it for me during the 1000km service) I was going to do just that. But when I took the seat off they were already missing. Probably on the dealerships floor or fell out of the bike and onto the road if they were still bouncing around the battery bay.
I didn't have time to pose for a thumbnail so took a screenshot from the video. But I wasn't smiling so I had 39 seconds to edit it as my toddler was having a melt down and needed attending. Otherwise I would have released the video 24hrs later, once I had a chance to make a decent thumbnail.

Yeah I agree, plus the built in lowering link makes it great for shorter riders.
Great plug design. Can you put it on Thing-i-verse for the masses. Thank u.
Definitely less knee bend. You present your video's well. Thanks
Thank you. I'm no professional but I do put a lot of time and effort into it. It's great it's noticed 😄
I would not say that. In addition you pay extra for this seat instead of choosing just "high seat" option. Not do fair from CFM moto.
Waiting on my 450MT for a couple weeks now and watching your videos has been relaxing
Great to hear!
Great stuff Outie, I finally get to ride a 450MT at a demo day in Denver CO in July.
That's awesome! I bet you're counting the days down!
Good job printing (designing) those bits.
The tall seat just looks proper 👍🏻
Just the opposite of every other bike on the market practically that comes with a high seat and soft suspension. LOL. Thanks for the video.
Very true!
