I’m considering an M4 pro. I tried the iPad for one week 😅 I installed all native apps and I used webapps versions of the apps I had on my windows laptop. You can’t code or script on a iPad, so for scripting I use a remote app to access my laptop, I can kinda live with is solution.. But there is one thing I can’t overcome and is very annoying. As far as I know is that when you want to download or upload files/photos from an app (google photos, canva, wetransfer etc) you NEED to keep the particular app active till the download is finished, otherwise the download will stop. Probably iPadOs freezes the app when you switch to another app, this end up to download all files again. So in my opinion you can’t really multitask with the iPad. It is more like multi-windowing instead of multitasking. I used an iPad Pro 2nd gen for this experiment.
This is indeed one of the most annoying things about the ipad. And sometimes it doesn't even resume syncing files when you reopen the app, so under certain circumstances you can't rely on having a complete set of files or the most updated versions. and you can't move files from local to cloud, for example, just copy. meaning, now you have a file created "today", although the original had been created years ago.
Yes, this is one of two things that keeps me from using an iPad full time. You can’t put an app in the background to keep doing its task while I do something else. The other thing is copying & pasting in IOS. Just selecting text in IOS is an exercise in frustration for me.
I too have been using the iPad Pro 11” for the last 6 years, & feel the same as you do Fernando, time to upgrade, however I’m keeping this little gem. Updating to the 13” Pro with the M4, & if that gives me the same experience as we have both had for the last 6 years, I’ll be a happy little Vegemite. Sorry that in Oz means the same as a “Happy Little Camper!” Thanks, great revue!!
Hehe me too… upgraded to my 4th iPad this summer.. my 2nd iPad Pro 😊 Except.. I went for the 11" - again. I am carrying it around some, and also using it in my recliner a lot. Bigger screen is cool… but for me: 11 😊 Good luck with 13😊
Altho ipads can't do everything but I really enjoy having it as my "backup plan". Recently my macbook failed on me and while waiting for it to be fixed, I was able to do some simple work tasks on my ipad from 2018 (it's not even a pro model). I love my ipad!
iPad is perfectly able to be most people’s main computer, however I prefer my MacBook for heavier workloads because I like navigation on MacOS better than iPadOS and web version over most apps.
🐬 Granted I don’t have a iPad Pro. I got an iPad 8th gen as a present and when my laptop died, I tried about 6 months to use it as my portable system. My main issues is that I remote to different OS’s from Windows to Linux and it wasn’t that great for that. My wife on the other hand can use it as her only system great. I don’t think my use case would have improved with an iPad Pro too much and it was just easier to get a laptop instead. Unless you really need it, iPad is probably the best bang for your buck.
You totally got it to the point. I love my iPad, for what it is and I dont want it to be something else. Is it perfect? No it isnt, but is a MacBook perfect? No it isnt, either. I have the luck having the Situation you mentioned for years now. A Desktop Mac and an iPad and I love it that way. Is there something I would wish for? Yes there are three things to make the iPad perfect. A MacBook class Finder, The Ability to run Mac Apps, And a wider Support for external Hardware like multiple Cameras. The iPad is Apple’s version of a Chromebook. The value proposition is not the cost, it’s the reliability and ease of use. I couldn’t use it for work as a software developer, but it absolutely works for my personal life: email and messages, ebooks and PDF, journaling and note taking, tracking finances, occasionally watching videos, scanning and filing documents…all sorts of things. I’ve also found that security conscious environments that would prohibit bringing a personal laptop to work don’t always object to a tablet.
I use both my iPad Pros far more than I use my iMAC or my MacBook Pro. I love its convenience sic and power. I have an M1 iMac and 11 inch iPad and 2018 MacBook Pro.
I have been using my iPad Pro as my main computer since 2018 with the 11 inch. I just upgraded to an M1 12.9 inch because I got a great deal on a refurbished model from Apple. I can’t believe how good the mini LED display is.
It's great that you've made it work for your use-case, but I'd rather a device that works around my needs rather than one that I have to adapt to. To me, the best portable computer I've ever bought is the Surface Pro 11. I use a Mac at home and it's great, but on the go, I need something that is portable, versatile, and capable, and unfortunately, the iPad Pro or the MacBook don't cut it. The Surface Pro is like both those devices in one.
@@joseabraham777 I use it as a tablet when I travel mostly. Because it has a built in kickstand I can easily use it even on very cramped tray tables on the plane. Or when I'm viewing documents and watching Netflix.
🐬 I’ve used both the regular iPad and the iPad Air 2022 [current]. It was great for College work I will admit that, buy the keyboard and mouse and its amazing. My laptop recent got the Blue Screen of Death from trying to code and I’ve been using the iPad Air as a “laptop”. It’s okay, but for some of the stuff I use like photo editing and some quick video editing, I miss my laptop. Other hobbies like trying to start a business is a little challenging as well. But for running and maintain a Social Media account it’s not a bad idea.
My main computer is my iPad and it works well for almost everything I want to do. It is the most ultraportable of my devices, except my phone, and goes with me everywhere even inside the house. My 14” MacBook Pro is far clunkier and harder to lug around than an iPad, which is the main reason the iPad has become my go-to machine. The dedicated apps are also better than the web experience for most things, though there are exceptions to this.
🐬I am getting my M2 iPad Pro in a few weeks, super excited. I do think it is perfect if you want alternative computing once you have your main workhorse (MacBook Pro) but don't always want to carry it around for some basic tasks that are too cramped for the iPhone but overkill for your workhorse.
🐬 Great video once again. Combo and main use case of the iPad M1 Pro is on the fly while traveling, in meetings or around the house. Keyboard and pencil are the way to go. Keyboard for emails and text input. Pencil for taking notes (OneNote) and Freeform for scribbling and idea collection.
I recently upgraded from a 256 GB iPad 10th generation to a 2 TB, 13 inch iPad Pro M4 with a Magic Keyboard (I paid far more than $2,000). 😵 The reason I bought it was two fold: First, I have enough data on my computer that I needed the 2 TB worth of storage. Second, I needed the 13 inch screen because my eyesight is not that good anymore. I am very happy with my purchase. 🐬
🐬 I use a M1 ipad 11 inch when I’m out and I recently picked up a used Mac mini. I think that combo works out really good for me and my personal use case, additionally my phone is a regular iPhone 15, don’t really feel the need for a bigger screen as I got the ipad. I think that this version of the ecosystem really compliments my use case:

hello
Lol 😂 except media consumption you don’t do much with iPad and that’s the reality except those digital artists and graphics designers out there 😊

"Best touch based computer"
Tells everyone to use desktop versions of apps in the browser.
You know what works better than desktop versions in a browser? A desktop.
Who else is watching this on a 2018 iPad Pro
This guy is very attractive!
The battery life is atrocious on iPads compared to Macs. And iPads are way more limited. Even this dude has a back up Mac lol
Have gone from Windows to using a Chromebook to an iPad 10th gen as my daily driver. 2 years now with iPad editing clips and highlight reels for kids sports and home management/finances/ family management. Never going back if Apple gives the next Mini an M-series chip I will upgrade to that. If not there will be an M2 iPad Air in my future🐬
Why i cant add extensions in chrome or edge browser ? No it is not full fledged browser.
Why are you so upset to comment twice?
@@nathang1996 because i m frustated that i have spent $1400 for a device so that it can surf all websites and still it is not at par with $200 dollar windows desktop browser.
FULL FLEDGED COMPUTER 😂😂 Haha ha so funny. It has Mobile class browser which cant even support most govt websites and web apps full fledged, also background activity and downloads are limited on ipad So its far from full fledged computer even ChromeOs is better than ipados for web apps As ipad doesnt have most apps in global south countries.
iPad Os uses the full desktop safari.
@@feffrey81 why it doesnt download in background after half an hour. And it is not full fledged safari browser as it is not supported by govt websites in india whereas safari on macos does support same websites.

@@Kaling126 Browser is not truly desktop class. Most of NIC websites dont work properly. Ministry websites also doesnt work properly PSC websites also lacks on screen feedback
