hey when u were increasing ur stitches how did u know what stitch to kfb into? like in the pattern it says kfb in 86st or 42st but how do u know when ur doing ur own pattern?
@@catboycharlesim not an advanced knitter, but as long as the increases are evenly distributed it should turn out fine. Im 40DD and i added 8 increases (1 row of two inc on opposite sides and a normal row, 4 times). For example, if there's 90 sts, in the first row, you can do inc in the 1st st and the 45th st. Then the second row knit all across. 3rd row, inc in the 23rd st and 67th st... What i did there is i divided 90/2, then 90/4 for 3rd row.

It wouldn't work, crochet is a completely different structure unfortunately:( that's why I'm learning knitting now i love crochet but for clothes knitting is better
@@chana7276 im acc doing this pattern crocheted. I just do sc for most of it but since when you knit you have smaller rows instead of increasing one row and not increasing the next i skip that row and just do the next increase and so far the top is coming out really well. You just have to work in a circle. hope this helped
knitting this as I'm writing!! really impressed by how easy the pattern is to follow, I rarely use patterns because I quickly find them boring or hard to understand but this looks super promising! thank you so much for sharing, it's such a pretty top!
You are so talented to begin like this with two needles bunch together, i always feel one needle is too tight for later operation! Good trick to learn , look forward to watching more videos from you.
This is a beautiful top. I’d really love to make it. Although i am afraid i might be missing something. I can’t work out how to meet gauge. The pattern says they are using 4,5 mm Needles working with what appears to be a thin yarn and getting a 12x40 gauge. This doesn’t make sense in my mind. In the bit of experimenting I’ve done I can’t get anywhere close to 12 stitches for every 10cm even using much larger needles and yarn. 12x40 doesn’t really make sense to begin with because of the basic anatomy of a stockinette stitch is not more then 3 times as wide as it is long. I looked up the yarn used in the video online and found the gauge listed to be 34x25 = 10x10 using 3.5mm needles which doesn’t add up to the 12x40 using 4.5 as listed in this video. I understand adjusting the pattern a little if you’re gauge is a bit off ie. a sizing up or down your needle size but i’m afraid any gauge i have is so off the pattern would not be helpful and i might as well freehand. I really hope I explained this all well. If anyone has the answer please lmk. like i said i would really love to use this pattern especially since the rest of the pattern seems so clear. i wondered if the gauge was just a typo but didn’t see anyone else confused or commenting about it so i think i might just be missing something.
This is the most beautiful top - such simple, thoughtful details like the little flared sleeve! Your knitting tension and that shade of red on you is perfect. Tutorial and caption are v helpful. This will be the first jumper I'll ever knit on the round. Really hope it turns out well. Thank you so much for making this pattern available!
i think the row gauge is maybe wrong in this pattern, the finished yoke was 42 rows measuring at 14cm - shouldn't the 10x10cm gauge measure less then 40 rows then?
I made this with a smaller knitting needle so it came out a little bit smaller but it's still sooo gorgeous on. I can't wait to make myself a bigger one. Thank you so much!

I am wondering about this as well. Looks like there are a few others with the same question. 12 st = 10 cm is way off the label's suggested 17 st. But the row gauge is even farther off (and in the other direction!). Seems like there must be a mistake somewhere. @@kalechippp
@@kalechippp no, sorry i actually havent started this project yet, i just picked a different one instead. But ill let you know, when i do, only dont expect it very soon. Good luck in your knitting!! 💗

Such a great tutorial, I'm having such a great time following this pattern! Out of curiosity, are the stitches that are being doubled or knit together chosen at random? Or is there a certain pattern to it that I haven't caught? Either way all love
I'm about to order yarn to start on this sweater - 2 questions: First, the Drops site has the gauge on the Brushed Alpaca Silk as 17 st x 22 rows - which is a huge difference (especially in row count) from the gauge you got here, 12x40. I obviously haven't done my own swatch yet, but I wonder if you have any idea why the manufacturer is posting such a different gauge. I'm going to have to do some adjustment on size to make mine smaller, so I am sensitive to getting the gauge right. Second question - the photo looks like it flares at the bottom, but I don't see any increase. Is the flare just because of the elastic cast-off? Thanks, looking forward to getting started
i bought the same yarn but i can’t get gauge 😢 it just seems impossible to get 10 cm with only 12 sts when the gauge on the yarn tag says 17sts=10cm with 5 mm needles INSTEAD OF 4.5 mm and 40r=10 cm seems outright impossible. i fear the gauge in the video must be wrong
I am having the same issue, using the Drops Brushed Silk with 5 mm needle. The gauge somewhere between 17 sts, you are absolutely correct. So entire project needs to be recalculated or scrapped. How did you resolve this issue? Also I think that 4 balls of yarn won't be enough
Wondering if you folks have resolved this. I have the same question/concern. I suppose you could (maybe?) use a really large needle and very loose stitch to get 12 st gauge - but then no way would it be 40r=10cm
yes that would be an option! You could work the increase part A as described in the pattern and knit less of the increase rows of increase section B. I'd make sure that it comes out to around the same lenght of the yoke though (14cm for me), to ensure it still fits nicely over your shoulders and isn't too short or pinch under the armpits when wearing it. If you need more help with it, just message me I'll try my best to help you out
omg this top is so pretty!! i have a question, can i use 7mm needles instead of 4,5mm ? if so, how can i adjust the size? i don’t really know how to adjust the number of stitches
Dear nelsknits, As I am a lost beginner, I have a question ( and I wanted to share what I already found out : in the beginning it is the longtail caston she uses) I was not sure if you published a free pattern other than the video - does row 5 to 16 complete just in the same way (repeating only gaining 8 more stitches every two rows?) or is it repeating how row 1-5 were made (k10kfbk10kfb etc) I guess its the first one but I still wanted to ask!
Is such a pretty sweater top am inspired to try, but have great trouble following patterns unless I draw it first. Any ideas how to add more sweater towarnds neck as I get chili easily (just not too tight like a crew neck. Will draw this out and then write pattern to see if I can adjust for me. Thanks for a nice video . Will figure my gauge, knit a round to fit where want it, then knit back and forth across back, then rounds increaseing as you show at minute 2.18 and figure later what else to do. Thank you !
Thank you so much for this tutorial, the sweater is amazing!! I was wondering, if I wanted to adapt it for smaller shoulders and bust, what should I do?
The easiest way to change up the shoulders without having to recalculate it all is working with a different gauge. If you work with a gauge of 13st=10cm for example, the end of yoke/shoulder measurement would come out to 101cm and a bust measurement of 83cm. Keep in mind that you need some room for movement at the shoulders as well though! And by working the whole top in that different gauge, all measurements come out smaller, not just bust and shoulders. If you need a more differentiated approach to the size changes, write me on Instagram if you want and I'll try my best to help further! 💗
I love this soooo much, thank you , thank youuuu 😭😭 I‘m gonna knit this for christmas eve ✨ is there a possibility that you might explain someday how you designed it, like how you did the maths 🤣 for example how do I know that I‘m gonna increase in the 42th stitch and then in the 84th why not always in the same, maths is such a mystery to me 🤣 I can figure out the maths when I‘m knitting a top from bottom to top but top to bottom is just???? what??? anyways such a great tutorial
Hey Nels, with the gauge is that 12 stitches x 20 rows? I was almost finished section B until I realised the importance of a gauge; the width of what I’d knitted would be up to my neck not sitting on my shoulders! Maybe my stitches are really tight!! Do the 12 stitches of the gauge make up 10cm? I want to try this again and make the gauge properly. Thanks, Sofia
currently following this pattern and i hVe a question about increasing/altering the pattern to my size. Im roughly the same measurements as you but i want to make it a big bigger however im unsure on the significance of the specific stitches you have chosen to kfb in if that makes sense. Does it matter what stitch i increase in?
In the final product shot it looks like the bottom of the top is slightly flared but the last step in the bodice is decreasing, does it naturally flare at the end? Thank you for the video!
I did not make any adjustments for the Drops yarn. If you're having difficulties with the size it might be that your gauge is different than the one in the pattern. I would make a gauge swatch to double check and size up to bigger needles if your gauge has more st per 10 cm than in the pattern. Hope it helps! 💓
How many balls of drops yarn 25g did you use to make the heather colour top with long sleeves. Completely new knitter as in first time picking up needles was with this pattern. You are amazing your pattern and explanations are so easy to follow! Thank you !
Thank you so much for this it’s such a beautiful top!! I’m confused tho I just started knitting, we don’t purl the one side correct? Just knit both sides?
mi cable es de 60cm y estoy haciendo 82 puntos pero me queda tremendamente lejos de la otra aguja, cómo puedo hacer para tejer circular así? compre una aguja con un cable de 60 cm específicamente para esto y no me funciona!! 😭
I am having difficulties with the sleeves. I watched videos on how to knit magic loop and the set up of the sleeves in other videos are different - they tend to have either scrap yarn on both sides of the sleeve or pick up threads on both sides. Do you have a video recommendation with the technique you use? When I try your technique I get ladder gaps on both sides of the sleeve.
Hi I’m also using mohair lace weight yarn but my gauge swatch doesn’t reach 4 inch so do I go up a needle size? If I use bigger needles, the stitches won’t look like yours and will be more see through. I don’t know what to do. Pls help! Much love❤
I'd suggest using bigger needles since getting the correct gauge is reall important for the size of the top. You could hold the yarn double if you don't want it to be see through as long as you get the correct gauge 💗
Thanks so much for this! Im reaching the end and starting the arms, however im very confused about reattaching the yarn, could you pls explain how to start of reattaching? ❤
You can definitely experiment with different fibres! Though I can't say for sure how it'll turn out as I've only knit it with this fine fuzzy yarn. Make sure you knit a gauge swatch with whatever yarn you're intending to use though. It ensures that the size comes out right
1) love this so much will be starting it tomorrow thank you so much for making this tutorial 2) what style of knitting is this? i've never seen the yarn being on the left side like knitting left to right i always knit right to left if that makes sense

I'm going to have to do some adjustment on size to make mine smaller, so I am sensitive to getting the gauge right. Second question - the photo looks like it flares at the bottom, but I don't see any increase. Is the flare just because of the elastic cast-off? Thanks, looking forward to getting started
I’m wondering the same about the guage
this is exactly what i needed, thank you so much💗
i bought the same yarn but i can’t get gauge 😢 it just seems impossible to get 10 cm with only 12 sts when the gauge on the yarn tag says 17sts=10cm with 5 mm needles INSTEAD OF 4.5 mm
and 40r=10 cm seems outright impossible.
i fear the gauge in the video must be wrong
I am having the same issue, using the Drops Brushed Silk with 5 mm needle. The gauge somewhere between 17 sts, you are absolutely correct. So entire project needs to be recalculated or scrapped. How did you resolve this issue? Also I think that 4 balls of yarn won't be enough
@@VV-tk8uv i didn't resolve it yet... im planning to remake the pattern with my own gauge... hopefully i'll manage
Please keep us updated 😢
Wondering if you folks have resolved this. I have the same question/concern. I suppose you could (maybe?) use a really large needle and very loose stitch to get 12 st gauge - but then no way would it be 40r=10cm
@@LisaShelkroti’m currently in the middle of exam season but as soon as I have time to get back into knitting i’ll give updates on this
I love you so much. Will update when sweater is done
This is so well explained and so clean for a first video !! Amazing, thank you 🤌🏼🤌🏼
Omg You simply look too beautiful. I more than love both. Well done and thankyou for the video 🥰
knitting it right now. very exited!

Now I know what left handed knitters feel like watching a tutorial 😬
Would it be possible for me to use 10ply yarn? thank you for the tutorial!
Currently I'm learning how to knit and I'm making a case for my compute but first I want to get familiar with the use of the knitting sticks
This is amazing, do I have to use mohair or can I use any regular yarn?
tysm for the tutorial!!! if i wanted to make it smaller around the chest, would i switch up the increases on the yoke?
yes that would be an option! If you need more help with it, just message me I'll try my best to help you out
Thank u sm for your work!!🎀♡♡
omg this top is so pretty!! i have a question, can i use 7mm needles instead of 4,5mm ? if so, how can i adjust the size? i don’t really know how to adjust the number of stitches
the visual at 16:10 was incredibly helpful😭🙏🙏
Dear nelsknits,
As I am a lost beginner, I have a question ( and I wanted to share what I already found out : in the beginning it is the longtail caston she uses)
I was not sure if you published a free pattern other than the video - does row 5 to 16 complete just in the same way (repeating only gaining 8 more stitches every two rows?) or is it repeating how row 1-5 were made (k10kfbk10kfb etc)
I guess its the first one but I still wanted to ask!
I have the same question too !
Been wondering this too!
Thank you !
what weight yarn would you recommend for this? superfine? lace weight? i want to make this in a non -mohair fiber so it's easier to care for
Thank you so much for this tutorial, the sweater is amazing!!
💗
0:28 are you sure about the gauge? on the wool it says 25stx30r or something and you only sized up by 1m?
I love this soooo much, thank you , thank youuuu 😭😭 I‘m gonna knit this for christmas eve ✨ is there a possibility that you might explain someday how you designed it, like how you did the maths 🤣 for example how do I know that I‘m gonna increase in the 42th stitch and then in the 84th why not always in the same, maths is such a mystery to me 🤣 I can figure out the maths when I‘m knitting a top from bottom to top but top to bottom is just???? what??? anyways such a great tutorial
aw I'm so glad you like the top so much!!
chose this as my first knitting project and i’m so sad i didn’t know about gauging 😭💔
Thanks,
Sofia
i have the same problem :/
that was a great video !! thank you!
currently following this pattern and i hVe a question about increasing/altering the pattern to my size.
Thank you for the video!
is there anybody that made this but xs-s? howwwwwww
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Did you make any adjustments when you used the drops yarn? I’m using drops as well, but mine keeps turning out smaller around the shoulders… Ty 💕
I did not make any adjustments for the Drops yarn. If you're having difficulties with the size it might be that your gauge is different than the one in the pattern. I would make a gauge swatch to double check and size up to bigger needles if your gauge has more st per 10 cm than in the pattern. Hope it helps! 💓
I'd love to make the pink one! Can't you please do one for that one as well?
OMG I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY THANK YOU SO MUCH I’VE BEEN SEARCHING THESE FOR A WHILE NOW
thank you for this!
How many balls of drops yarn 25g did you use to make the heather colour top with long sleeves. Completely new knitter as in first time picking up needles was with this pattern. You are amazing your pattern and explanations are so easy to follow! Thank you !
I used 4 balls of the drops yarn with 25g for each ball. And that's amazing that you're able to knit it up sucessfully as a beginner! Good job! 💗
Woow thanks so talented!!
Your pullover clearly goes back out at the bottom after the waist shaping. Can I assume you did increases for that? It doesn't say so in the pattern.
Hii, I loooove this top. Did you block the top after you finished it or just started wearing it?
This is beautifulllll! saving it to knit for when I'm not pregnant 🤣
Gorgeous!!!! 😍
Is this pattern available in written format?
Hi I’m also using mohair lace weight yarn but my gauge swatch doesn’t reach 4 inch so do I go up a needle size? If I use bigger needles, the stitches won’t look like yours and will be more see through. I don’t know what to do. Pls help! Much love❤
I'd suggest using bigger needles since getting the correct gauge is reall important for the size of the top. You could hold the yarn double if you don't want it to be see through as long as you get the correct gauge 💗
hi, lovely tutorial and pattern! do you think i could follow this pattern using Tunisian crochet?
Thanks so much for this! Im reaching the end and starting the arms, however im very confused about reattaching the yarn, could you pls explain how to start of reattaching? ❤
Did you find out how to do it?
i'm very confused by the arms section too. did you figure out how to do it? thank you
this is so pretty! can i use 50% cotton and 50% bamboo instead of what you used to achieve the same tight/stretchy look?
You can definitely experiment with different fibres! Though I can't say for sure how it'll turn out as I've only knit it with this fine fuzzy yarn. Make sure you knit a gauge swatch with whatever yarn you're intending to use though. It ensures that the size comes out right
Does anyone know how to change the stitch count for a bigger size? I’m new to knitting and i have no idea how to knit this top in my size😅
Love it ❤
1) love this so much will be starting it tomorrow thank you so much for making this tutorial
2) what style of knitting is this? i've never seen the yarn being on the left side like knitting left to right i always knit right to left if that makes sense
I'm so excited to hear you're starting your top soon! 💗 I am lefthanded so when I started learning how to knit I did it mirrored because it is easier for me. That's why I knit from left to right :) I think it's called mirror knitting? not sure though haha
@@nelsknits omg that's so cool i dont think ive ever seen a video of someone kntting left handed
Love the pattern! Just one question though, for r27 in decreasing, would the arrow mean I decrease in every stitch from 15 to 90?
im wondering this as well!
i thinks it means that after you finished all the decreases you should be left with 90 st on your needles
