As a new knitter, i also noticed that the knitting community is dominated by older women who have (in my opinion) boring styles, while the crochet community has all the cute tops and sweaters and accessories. This video is exactly what I was looking for!
I’m glad it helped you! I have to say personally I love the knitting community especially for winter clothes like sweaters, but I agree it can be hard to find patterns for cute lil tops ✨
I’m becoming an old lady (I’m 40) who loves to crochet- but I struggle to find pretty but age appropriate sweater patterns in crochet. So the opposite to your problem!
this is not a hot take!! just look at knitting youtube and people that make one neutral sweater after another neutral tee, and the styles of clothes the biggest designers make (petiteknit, my favourite things, etc), i NEED *younger* knitting content and aesthetics in my algorithm!!
yes glad it resonated! I think what I was trying to get at was that a lot of knitting patterns are very classic and timeless which is great, but i love seeing more experimental patterns too 🫶
this is the kind of content i've been DYING for!! i totally agree. while i do love the occasional crochet i think knit clothes look soooo much cleaner and more of the vibe i'm going for
so glad you liked!! i think i am the same as you, although i am biased because i think i prefer the process of knitting a liiiittle bit more than crochet 🤫
Wow! It's hot! You are right about old crocheters, we can crochet but don't have the style you younger ladies have. But we are still young in hearts, please be kind. You all will be there one day 😊
I definitely don’t mean to discredit makers of any age! a lot of the creators i follow and love are older than me, what i meant to say is that i notice a trend of those older than me making and creating patterns for more timeless classic items and those younger than me tend to be more experimental - and both are stylish imo but just in different ways ☺️
It's not about age. I find even older crocheters have a fun style, why are most knitters, even young ones tend to go for the beige, neutral boring knits. I also find that a lot of knitters only knit, while most crocheters also sews, tats, knits, etc.

Love this collection! I want to start making more clothes, but a lot of the patterns I find are for backless crop tops and while I think they look SO cute, it's not something I'm looking to wear myself so it was nice seeing a good variety of kinds of tops that are still stylish. I agree that in general, knitted tops look better than crocheted tops, though both can be gorgeous. As of right now, I'm only a crocheter, but I might have to expand to knitting too if I want to make some these tops!!
Omg amazing finds! I have difficulty finishing projects unless they're* gifts for others. I’m a beginner, so every project has a lot of learning curves. WHICH I LOVE! But I have no drive to get me through those challenging learning curves when I make things for myself. I look at all the obstacles ahead, and then look at what the piece is supposed to look like when it’s finished, and unfortunately I realize that although it’s a beautiful pattern, it’s just not my taste and I lose all ambition to carry on. The patterns you just shared are seriously SO PERFECT! I cannot WAIT to start something new, learn so much, and then KEEP IT FOR MYSELF AFTERWARDS! THANK YOU
Such cool patterns! Im definately a neutral millenial but when you spend a third of your day in an office(doing a job I love) it’s hard to keep doing crop tops and crop-out tops that I could never wear in my proffesional setting but I do love looking at them so I will keep watching. Im so happy that the crochet vs knitting and colorful vs neutral war has died down a bit. We are all crafters together, the one and the same and don’t have to keep comparing to each other.
@@natashacrawf Yeah I used to watch a colourful knitter that kept making vomitting sounds when mentioning neutrals and minimalism so I chose to stop watching that content. We don’t have to yuck others yum.
I feel like you might like early 2010's knitwear patterns, the photos and styling for a lot of those patterns is...not great tbh, but I've noticed they tend to have more fitted silhouettes which you seem to like based on the patterns you've shown and bolder design elements. But if you're good at seeing a piece and reimagining it in a different color/with different styling, I'd suggest going to a library and looking at some of their pattern books from that era!
Aaah watching this is so fun!! So nice to hear someone talk about knit/crochet and yarn in the same way I feel! I’m also in my mid 20s so I relate 100%. Can’t wait to see how your red top turns out 😊 also thank you for all the patterns. I’ve been struggling to find knit inspo lately
So happy I came across this video! I do love my classic pieces that I can just throw on without any planning, but I've been looking for some more fun projects as well. I'm still kind of a newbie to knitting but will definitely be making that first crochet piece as soon as I figure out what color I want it to be in
loving all the pattern recs ♡ !! i think youd also appreciate: - wisteria vest by crochettreat bc it gives a cool look with a bralette underneath - cosmo top by unlucky knits also has a cool cutout detail in the neck area
THISS is what ive been looking forrrr. jeans and a nice top is such a niche apparently. i’m looking for knitwear to take to the clubbbb. LOL! ur soo beautiful and thank u for this vid! love from miami!
Just found your channel and I feel like you are my twin sister from another mother😂. I am 47 but look abour 15 years younger so I make and wear both crochet and knitted stuff that many say is not what ones granny would make😂 I have been doing it for years. I put most stuff on my instagram page awhile ago but I tjink many found my items too saucy😂 However I am now finding that times are truly changing. I would love us to be friends and I can alwayss help you out with anything.. I did put a crochet video on my channel showing some of my crochet stuff..Anyway you are a true beauty..wise and mature. I love how you study the items like I do and you won't make stuff that you will not wear!❤ This more so unique video brought my heart joy! I feel in love with the betty top so I think that will be my new venture❤❤❤
I love your selection! 😊 I'm not sure this is your style, but here are my favorite knitting designers that make more "fun" patterns: le_pull_le_pull (disaster top for instance) and milenapauliina (ex: Tekla top).
Girl look up what Lydia made!!! Her work is delightful and soooo well designed fit wise, highly customizable, and Lydia is Glasgow based 🦭. She also just released a super nice “going out” type of top that has an optional keyhole in the front, it was released around the same time as the mixed rib cami to. I’m making mine with the keyhole in both the front and the back ♥️👀.
I started out with the beginner knitting kits from wool and the gang and we are knitters! they’re a bit expensive but the yarn is great and they give you all the materials and instructions you need - if you don’t wanna do that you could do any basic beginner pattern (like a scarf) with a bit of perseverance really. I think already knowing crochet will help you learn v quickly!
Hey I started knitting 2 years ago! I'll throw my 2cent in, start with a project you want! I wanted to knit socks so I followed a basic tube sock tut on youtube. Also, a great resource to learn how to hold yarn/knit/tension stuff etc would be ARNE & CARLOS - norwegian style knitting is the bomb
I'll also add: the wood could be best to start because the stitches will "grip" to your needle more (fewer risks of them slipping). And you could begin with a small project, I started with beanies/hats, looking for patterns with only knit and purl stitches.
