Love it! Jenna, the stitches you dropped for the distressed look will continue to "run" unless you somehow secure them to the row below. I know you wanted a hole and not a full on unravelling. Your sweater is WONDERFUL!!
Came here to say this. Jumper’s fab. Don’t want her unravelling all the way!
Yes! She could also do a combo of ssk and yo to make holes without any laddering or unraveling. I think that might be how the holes she showed were created (could be wrong, the image was hard for me to see).
yeah the way to fix that would just be casting off a stitch in the middle but not completely letting it go
@@UnsolicitedThoughtsOfARose it's hard to see in very large stitches like this but i'm pretty sure the original sweater didn't have a yo/ssk hole but actually a dropped stitch/ladder
the technique i've seen before for it is yo where you want your stitch to stop falling, (mark the new stitch so you don't accidentally drop its neighbour), knit normally until you reach where your stitch should start dropping, get the stitch off your needle and watch it unravel until the yo.
@@iyawakarehen That sounds cool! I’m used to working with smaller stitches.
I’ve legit been searching for a tutorial for this exact type of (diy fishnet like) knit for half a year now and couldn’t find anything as easy and comprehensible as your video!! Thank you so much for this!! Your sweater turned out absolutely stunning!!
Drop stitching is actually a thing! But you could add a yarn over and knit a few rows, then drop the stitch that is in the row of the yarn over. That will give you control over your drop stitches! I searched for bubble knit technique and learned it there
Make more of this.....am enjoying your tutorials
For your balaclavas, that kind of wonky stitching can even itself out if you block! AKA depending on the yarn washing instructions hand wash in the sink and wring the water out with a towel and then lay it flat to dry, it works miracles for uneven tension
I love your knitting and crocheting videos!! And your energy is immaculate lol
i love youuuuuu!
Jenna!! You've inspired me to try to crochet a sweater without a pattern! I've never made a sweater before and I've been crocheting for a month! (I've made 2 hats and a very wonky blanket lol.)
Did you make it in the end? :D
@@rubyhesketh8876 the suspense is killing us
I want to make a sweater like this but I only kind of know how to crochet. I hope you love your sweater!
I used this video to make a very over the top pink, purple, and orange sweater for my 6 year old. It turned out beautifully and she is going to be obsessed. Thank you!
for the hand dyed yarn hanks you should totally order a swift!! the swift and the yarn winder work together like magic and it’s so satisfying!
Good LORD it's cute when you are knitting and just toss the yarn over the dog and they are totally cool with it, SO FRICKIN ADORABLE
I like it buuuut Jenna did you secure the drop stitch because if you didn't it will keep unraveling. But since it is 100% wool it might not unravel easily. Get a drop of water felt up that drop stitch to the inside of sweater or somehow tie it down so it doesn't keep dropping. I hope it doesn't move much because it looks like roving yarn and that is usually a little sticky to itself. TIP. If you want a drop stitch knit two together and make make a yarn over to replace that stitch . When you knit back you have a hole. Also if you want a large hole you yarn over twice and when knitting back knit into the double yarn over creating a large hole. Either way it look great and interesting. Maybe u would use needle bigger than yarn but not too big of the stitches like you did for a nice lacy top for the summer over sport bra etc
Can you do a quick tutorial on how you attached everything together with crochet? And how you made a collar and stuff?
You absolutely saved the look with adding the extra color!!! Love you sm and love your style! At first I was like hmmm not sure about that then you always come through with the coolest stuff
After watching hours and hours of your vids im pretty sure youre a little nuts but i love every video. Ive learned alot so far and You are such a blessing and leave such a positive feeling. Thank you! Oh and Benson. Love!
first time i’ve seen one of her videos and skimming through, im at 7:30 i love her already 😭😭
Your video is so funny and light hearted and positive! I have loved all the hand crafts since I was a little girl so this was really fun to watch and the end result is a custom one off design which, lets face it, are the best! Great job and thanks for sharing!
I loveee this video!! You’re really bringing trendy crochet/knit wear content on youtube! Which is very rare 😭
the first video ive ever watched of your content but you seem like a wonderful person, i rly like how you actually showed clips of you knitting and i for sure will be knitting a sweater inspired by yours:) hope you have a nice day !
Oooooooo a girl who loves big needles… YIPPEE really love your sweater and making one in blue and yellow so thank you Jenna . Ani from UK 🤵🏼♀️💋♥️
Thank you sooo much! I’m knitting more than a year, but only now I realized how to knit a sweater!!! Btw thanks for the idea to use a hook!
I love watching your fearless making! If you ever get a big tangle when you are winding yarn from a hank, you can get a swift.
i think i love you 😭😭😭😭 ion know how to knit like this yet but i’m intrigued just off your personality
Love Love Love this! Now I'm going to make myself a sweater with this free style knitting stuff. You are so fun to watch. Thank you!
I came across your channel a few days ago and I must say I'm in love. Your work, your vibe, everythingggg is amazingggg
Love this , this is exactly the vibe I’m going for ! Just starting working with yarn ! I’m definitely excited❤️
I started watching this with a high degree of skepticism, but I loved the final result!
I'm really enjoying your house renovation but I had to go back to one of your knitting videos cuz I like those too❤
Id love to try this in all black wool😍 very grungy and cute
I have been looking for inspiration to do a free hand knit - FOUND YA!!!!!. Anyway, I found this cute sweater on Pintrest I've been wanting to make and just figured it out. Now your video laid the blueprint /picture - so I can now see how I'm to move forward on this project... Thanks...
Love it! Great to meet you Jenna!!
that top is just incredible. a dream tbh
Right now I'm working on sewing up a couple of knitted sleeves. I'm so excited!!!
The knit sweater is so cool with the yarn, Jenna!😊😊🌻🌻❤️❤️🌹🌹
AWH thank you!
@@JennaPhipps you’re welcome, Jenna!
I love your video's!! I dye my own yarn that I knit and crochet with and trust me a yarn swift is life changing along with the ball winder you have. They do open and collapse and store easily. So if you have room I would recommend one.
thank you for this 🥰! I’m a baby knitter but I understand this well and will be giving it a try. My fiber arts heart is so grateful i love ur vids
Thank for making the video. I loved it. I needed help with some fun thing for my kids and their friends.
My style of knitting. It turned out so goooddddd!!!!
I have those on my pins because I was planning on free knitting but I wasn't experienced enough. Thank you for this😭❤️
I love it! I love you, you are so funny and just love your simplicity 😂 ...Jenna, you are so very funny, so talented and creative. You are a great inspiration for whoever wants to attempt a project in the way you do , all seem fun to do , simple and so very colorful like your personality ❤😂😂😂 Stay as simple and funny as you are ...it's how we like you. Way to go Jenna 😅...
wow, Jenna really did just pull off a haute couture piece like it's no big deal
Hi Jenna! I love your vids and your work with yarn, and how you explain what’s going on ❤️
Awh thank youuuuuu!!!
You ALWAYS make videos that I need ! I’m obsessed with ur content
JENNAAA that patagonia sweater!! I'm still so obsessed!!!!!
This is the exact content I needed for that messy look. thank youu
omg this turned out soo good!
That yarn is from Chile, my home coutry OMG!
WoooooW. I love it!! Good job, Jenna!!
The way you dropped the stitch 😂😂😂😂 you said NOPE 😂😂😂😂😂… I’m weak lol 😂😂
Im totally getting city of ember vibes from this sweater!
Haha, this is so fun to watch, your finished sweater is kind cool. Just need to secure the drop stiches from further dropping then you are good to go. by the way the color is stunning!
i’ve been looking for a tutorial like this for ages !!!! thank u so much
3:03 i’m cryingg you’re so funny 😭😭😭 “i’m going to do it ~~~untillll……~~~ I wanna stop ✋ o_o”
This is a VIBE!!! It’s not my personal style, but I like it!!!
You are talented and funny , I loved the sweater when you thought it was a granny , now I think it’s a Frankenstein 😂 . But you pull it off very well 😀
I didnt really catch the neckline part, I guess cuz I cant really knit :D could someone help me with that? How do I start the "second shoulder" (?) and how do I secure the stitches in the middle? I dont know how to stop and come back later to a row if u know what I mean. With crocheting this is so much easier: Also I maybe want to add a (crocheted) turtle neck I already have...
i really want to make this top but i didnt understand how to (and i cannot find any other tutorial).. Could you do a deep dive tutorial on this top (cause it looks so confusing as hell)??
I THOUGHT you were plant based. I'll tell you, it's great to feel good, and know that you're doing good for the world. I love your sweater.
Jenna I love your videos! Ive recently started to knit and youve been such an inspiration. Also, ive been wondering where youre from, just out of curiosity, and then at 9:17 you said "mark öut" and i knew you were canadian! Anyways, thank you for the videos!
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED THANKYOU
Don't worry about whether you're knitting Continental or English, knit however you want to! If it works for you then there's no reason to change to a different way of knitting. I taught myself to knit backwards so I wouldn't have to turn my work while knitting a flat piece, lol. There are no rules, do what makes you happy!
Im just starting to watch this Video but I already love it! My favourite kind of video😍
omg you have to see this it’s so funny so i knew your channel by accidentand we have the same name and we both do crochet and knitting and we both listen to crime podcast while we're working
I highly recommend you get a swift for that hank yarn I promise it helps a lot 😂😂😂
I love your video it‘s so simple but i wanted to ask where in the row you add the two stitches
Most people don’t Continental knit with super chunky needles but if you wanna knit a faster you should try flicking. It’s still English style knitting but it’s faster
I got exactly the same wool wrapper..? I don't know the English word, but this thing changed everything, never invested 15€ so good
You should be the next Doctor. All the nerds I know will understand - you look like Lala Ward, and the dance with the scarf sealed the deal.
I know this is so old but could someone explain how the neck was formed? I didn’t quite get it and I’ve watched that part like ten time s
Love love love what you did. Thank you for your inspiring content.
Hi Jenna! If you want to try new methods to improve your knitting speed and Continental isn’t for you, you should try English flicking. I use to do the throwing method but wanted to be faster and then changed to English flicking, now I don’t use any other method. Hope you try it and that it helps you!
Love the knit how it came out but I learned nothing on how to knit it lol, you seemed all over the place but I enjoyed the video in general
Happy 2025. This video speaks to me. Love freehand knitting. Love your jokes. Thanks for the hehe's
wow this is amazing & inspiring ! thank youuuu ! i have to try something cool in crochet !
I am going to try this.
hi Jenna! have you considered knitting shorts or pants? would love a tutorial from ya 💚
I didn’t know about this but I actually love it I need to crochet one!
PS. Have you tried flicking cause that might be easier to pull yarn when stitches are a bit loose when knitting.
Great sweater! Congratulations ❤️love it!
Wow!!!! This looks so good!!!! I wish I could do something like this!!
Well done looks amazing and chic!
Love it Jenna you did a great job.
looks amazing, I need a tutorial how to drop stitches to make it look distressed like you did it :)
waiting for jenna to like my comment. love you loads. you're amaizing at everything, lots of love from India
Awh thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@@JennaPhipps oh my god you guys, JENNA PHIPPS JUST REPLIED ME BACK! best night ever!!!
u have such a great vibe
thank you jennaa
omg... totally love it...
I haven't tried knitting before, any tips? or starter projects?
I am planning to make a video on how to start, step by step but in the mean time I would recommend a scarf as your absolute first project ❤️
@@JennaPhipps Jenna your scarf knitting livestream was so helpful and fun to knit along with!
If a scarf seems to go and and on and on, you can knit up a quick face clothe or something small.
Learn the basic stitches, like a garter stitch, stocking stitch and a rib stitch. And you should learn how to read a pattern. It will make you a better more knowledgeable knitter. Good luck. You will enjoy this hobby 🙂
@@maryegerton6848 thanks!!!
Beautiful top, very nice use of color, I’d cut the danglers though, they detract from the look.
Your rlly good at this, like im amazed by the speed. For me (even tho im a total beginner)
It takes like a month to do that. But yea it turned out so well!🧶❤️
what were the designers you referenced at 0.35 and 6:05?
Off topic a little but do you have tips for making a dog sweater? I thought I'd start there before I tackle making one for me
I ADORE the sweater you are wearing in this video 😍 did you thrift it? Love from Germany 💕🧶
can u make one w crocheting
The way you stopped in the middle of knitting to dance like, yes that is the process
the way you were THIS CLOSE 🤏🤏 to saying “massive two shts” 😭😭💀
I love it!! So cute
What’s the weight of the yarn?
Btw this turned out so cute! Like something you’d see on Pinterest
Could you make a crochet version of this?
I love your dog ❤. He looks a lot like the stray doggos in my country india
Girl PLEASE get a yarn umbrella for your winder lol
i don't have that thick needles what can I use instead?
