    Love it! Jenna, the stitches you dropped for the distressed look will continue to "run" unless you somehow secure them to the row below. I know you wanted a hole and not a full on unravelling. Your sweater is WONDERFUL!!

      Came here to say this. Jumper’s fab. Don’t want her unravelling all the way!

    • @UnsolicitedThoughtsOfARose
      @UnsolicitedThoughtsOfARose 3 роки тому +49

      Yes! She could also do a combo of ssk and yo to make holes without any laddering or unraveling. I think that might be how the holes she showed were created (could be wrong, the image was hard for me to see).

    • @GG-yr1oh
      @GG-yr1oh 3 роки тому +14

      yeah the way to fix that would just be casting off a stitch in the middle but not completely letting it go

    • @iyawakarehen
      @iyawakarehen 3 роки тому +36

      @@UnsolicitedThoughtsOfARose it's hard to see in very large stitches like this but i'm pretty sure the original sweater didn't have a yo/ssk hole but actually a dropped stitch/ladder
      the technique i've seen before for it is yo where you want your stitch to stop falling, (mark the new stitch so you don't accidentally drop its neighbour), knit normally until you reach where your stitch should start dropping, get the stitch off your needle and watch it unravel until the yo.

    Drop stitching is actually a thing! But you could add a yarn over and knit a few rows, then drop the stitch that is in the row of the yarn over. That will give you control over your drop stitches! I searched for bubble knit technique and learned it there

    For your balaclavas, that kind of wonky stitching can even itself out if you block! AKA depending on the yarn washing instructions hand wash in the sink and wring the water out with a towel and then lay it flat to dry, it works miracles for uneven tension

    I like it buuuut Jenna did you secure the drop stitch because if you didn't it will keep unraveling. But since it is 100% wool it might not unravel easily. Get a drop of water felt up that drop stitch to the inside of sweater or somehow tie it down so it doesn't keep dropping. I hope it doesn't move much because it looks like roving yarn and that is usually a little sticky to itself. TIP. If you want a drop stitch knit two together and make make a yarn over to replace that stitch . When you knit back you have a hole. Also if you want a large hole you yarn over twice and when knitting back knit into the double yarn over creating a large hole. Either way it look great and interesting. Maybe u would use needle bigger than yarn but not too big of the stitches like you did for a nice lacy top for the summer over sport bra etc
