Hi, i used to be an animator in maya but i have had a iatus and worked on other things. Latelly i´ve been wanting to get back on the horse and i find your tutorials amazing. I wanted to thank you for your amazing work and also add myself to the list of people requesting more of your awesome tutorials!
FYI, your tutorials are great, thanks for them! One small nit-picking though. As you know, in Maya there are layered options upon layered options and when you create things like nParticle emitters, vortex and turbulence fields, etc,, Maya retains the values you last used, thereby us users getting different results from what you get. You might want to consider resetting to default values and instructing others to do this at the beginning of the tutorial so that things will work the same for us as they do in the tutorial.
Really amazing work to I have one question I make to tutorial to use to make in maya and I have one problem to face in area lights to 1 arealights to visibal to colour in pratical in second light to not visible in after render view to not render in second light
Can I add this on the animation ? Like the Avatar one.... I've been wanted to make an animation with effect and I'm watching some tutorial but it was too complicated for me.
It does not get the same ressult in the animation of the portal when you finish the rendering :( Can you show us your specs to get that ressult, if it's not too much to ask?
you did this in after effects, I do not own after effects so will Nuke be a decent alternative also I assume you did the who camera turning in Maya and not after effects right?
@@fxmaniac2839 A LOT! I want to learn the after effects now, to make it more nicely. I was think if you can (Please) make a haduken or something tutorial. I try do something, but is not working very well. Well is a sugestion :3 But thanks, really thanks for your tutorial :D you have a fan now.
This video was very useful for me as a beginner. Can you please tell how did you import that Maya file to the Adobe After effects... I am not familiar to Adobe After effects tho... So that i could make a rendered video out of it...
Hiya. I'm a beginner and I attempted doing this today. When I increased the number of particles to what you have them set at in this video it caused my laptop to slow to a crawl. When I bought this laptop several years ago, it's main purpose was for watching videos, listening to music, etc. Thus, the CPU isn't very powerful. I set the number of particles to a smaller amount and it looks fine, but I'm having difficulty saving the Arnold render as an .avi file. I've tried a batch render and a batch sequence with no success. And when I do a playblast, it shows the light manipulators and the grey background. I need to research further how to do this. Otherwise, this is so awesome and thanks very much.
bro render using arnold and render it using render sequence not batch render and in playblast u can hide all the light and all using the show menu just above the viewport bar
thats the crux if rendering particle related projects, i am using maya for my 3D course, and using a laptop with a fairly decent spec for multimedia consumption and creation (i5 , gtx1650, 16gb of ram) even creating a cloud from scratch bricks my computer sadly.
I'm having trouble with Arnold, (just re downloaded the entire software, as well as arnold update). changed the presets back to original factory settings.... so then it started correctly at the beginning of the tutorial. But now at the arnold rendering part of your video, I create the AI area light, but it doesn't come up as bright like yours does. All the settings i saw on your screen matched mine. Any ideas to create a hard light effect instead of my barely visible poop stain looking light "smear/dot"
Reinstalling of Maya and Arnold should solve the problem, use the exposure instead of intensity than can be the main problem, otherwise everything else should work
@@fxmaniac2839 even with the exposure and intensity cranked up, the Arnold wouldn't batch render. Made a playblast which looks horrible without the lighting effect. Arnold is my arch nemesis. Basically it came out looking like a basic representation of what it would look like.
@@fxmaniac2839 the one issue I was able to fix was the presets by renaming the folder in the directory so during the next launch, it would create a new default folder.

Thank you very much for posting your tutorials. I've followed this tutorial to the letter.
