Thanks , have an old can of STP with rusted bottom from the 60's and didnt know what to do with it. they get bad here in Florida in our off grid retreat
All of you guys feel sorry for these fly obviously never be bit by one. The bite before and after is worse then a mosquito. Also I bet you don’t feel bad for mosquitos.
These things can literally destroy your summer when there’s lots of work to do outside. Almost fell 15 feet off a ladder few weeks ago because of these bastards
@@kinggarithos888 Agreed with you on the first part. I have no sympathy for pests. Was the last part of your comment really necessary? Not sure why the childless women portion was needed. Has absolutely nothing to do with a video about biting fly traps.
I am highly sensitive to the bite of the yellow fly. If I get a bite on my lower leg, I will be unable to walk for close to a week from the swelling. NOT FUN.
Omg me too! Always sends me to the ER. Several years ago in NC I was bitten 2 times on each leg. My legs were so swollen I went to the ER and found out I had cellulitis in both legs. I see those flies and I'm gone!
I have to try this. Those flies are really bad this year - worst I’ve ever seen. I believe they are attracted to anything black (like the container in your video) so it’s not really about STP other than it’s really thick.
It needs to be in the sun, so that the pot, bucket, ball, etc. heats up. I know horse flies are attracted to the heat of the object, because they see in infrared. I believe all biting flies do.
I friggin HATE those things. They are the most aggressive bug I’ve ever witnessed and they are relentless. This works, but I’m partial to using a grill lighter and a can of starting fluid.
John Davis Yes I think so it’s not sticky enough to catch the fly. Cs fly it can spread theirs wings so strongly. I prepare the oil but I don’t it yet.
Finally I don’t try it Yes as you say so it’s mess up as hell. I try many method but end up with Sticky glue fly trap paper. It’s work very well in my small garden at the rooftop. No stinky no fly no insect No small warm. I’m happy now
This seems to work but they are more attracted to the royal blue bucket then they are the black one within a minute or two of hanging it up I already had two yellow flies on it
Might be the blue bucket is more glossy. They like anything glossy and reflective hence why pools attract them too. However, they are highly attracted to high gloss black too if not more. What I find most effective is using the most reflective/glossy black container I can find, sometimes I even hit it with high gloss spray paint prior to adding a sticky material(I use oil or catch-em sticky stuff)
@@JohnDavis-yz9nq No, a yellow fly aka deer fly is not the same. Go kayaking in the Okefenokee without bug spray and you'll be making one of these on your way back home in between the bruised itching sensations.

excellent thought. I will do the same, but I will use a black bag over the bucket so that way I can just replace the bag ;)
They hurt. Feels like some random guy walking up to you and putting his cigaerette out on your leg.
Oddly specific but true
I tried this and it works like a charm

Kevin If they are in my space, RIP.
There are people who feel sorry for pests? What in god's name is happening to people. Low test or childless women.

tired of those little bastards biting the hell out of me when I am working on a car or something. great vid.
If flies didn't annoy humans, they would be alive.
CombraStudios
Who said it s not annoy humans.
It can suck Your blood.
I just experienced last week.
Make me itchy too much.
The females are biting little bitches that won't leave you alone. The bites swell up and itch and sometimes get infected. The males don't bite.
wow... so gratifying. LOL Great idea with the oil!
Man those bastards are nasty. Dad is allergic, when he gets bit, poor dude swells all up badly where bitten.
So are they attracted to STP or do they just fet stuck on to it?
The stp just sticks them. They are attracted to the color.
@@Zuntic ah interesting
Not only do they bite but they will chase/follow you to get more bites in
Why STP Oil Treatment, specifically?
Does it work for other types of flies, wasps, annoying bugs?
I do not know. The yellow fly is attracted to the dark color.
Zuntic good to know.
Deer flys are attracted to blue and yellow flies are attracted to darker colors

The STP is only for what they stick to.
Didnt work

yeah i just got bit on my freaking forehead, giant ass welt, WTF.
How did you get an “ass welt” if it bit you on the forearm?
I will try this method
Hope it will work in my small garden.
But my purpose is to catch the fly.
It’s make me crazy.
Sivacool Blackbee don’t waste your time. It doesn’t work and is messy as hell. STP isn’t sticky enough.

These are the most painful fly bite. Hate these things.

Sometimes that works
Hmmmmmmm ?
It works I did it
cooking with Sam on the Blackstone 22 R bullshit. It doesn’t work.
first
You were the 2nd, dumb*ss
Don’t waste your time. Flies don’t stick to it. It’s messy as hell too.
It is not for house flies it is for yellow flies and it works for yellow flies.
Zuntic a fly is a fly. Never seen a yellow fly. Pard this doesn’t work. STP isn’t sticky enough.

James Davidson what do you do for houseflies?
James Davidson well I am not going to be kayaking on the okefenokee so I don’t guess need this if it doesn’t work for House flies.
poor flys!!!
Vicki poor people
