  • Increase Tesla Range using these 9 tips!
Preconditioning, driving habits, mastering regenerative braking, timing and planning supercharger stops, vehicle speed, and smaller rims will increase and maximize your Tesla's range.
After 23,000 miles of driving, I have narrowed down to these significant factors to increase your Teslas Range
For Model Y Performance owners, it is hugely noticeable changing your 21" UberTurbine wheels to 18" wheels. The weight savings alone has a huge impact on your range. Check out my video to see how!

THANKS NICK, Don't mind the haters, they're still using candles to find their land lines, and they have limited internet experience because the library isn't always open for them to go online and get real information!
Our Model Y only has 2336 miles on it, total lifetime usage is 568 kWhs (which includes the initial factory Supercharge), at 11 cents per kWh (I rounded up) that's $62.48 or an average of 117MPG equivalent. We've had this car a little over a month, but it replaced an EV we had for 4-1/2 years with similar MPGe numbers at just under 100k miles. The replaced car was T-boned by a teenager without a driver license that was driving his mom's car, and we walked away without a scratch.
$62.48 buys about 17 gallons of Diesel at the best GasBuddy results around here, add the cost of DEF needed in your modern Diesel (but I'm going to set that aside for simple math purposes). 2336 divided by 17 gallons would mean that Diesel vehicle needs to get 137MPG to match our Model Y's cost of fuel. Good luck finding that vehicle for sale.
Recent example from NE Tennessee to Fletcher NC over the Blue Ridge mountains and back, about 150-miles round trip resulted in a 134MPGe after charging back what we used.

Don't recommend going below 10% for long battery life for charging . And at 0 mile range you can get reserve capacity of around 15-20 miles in Emergencies . Because usable kwh is 76.5 and Total battery capacity is 82.5 for Model Y LR.

Nick, while on a trip, what have you found to be the most useful way to track the remaining miles left in the battery? Excellent information on your channel!

Thanks John! The most useful way is definitely the trip planner, but also comparing it with the theoretical range. I compare the theoretical miles of the battery with the total distance in miles for the trip. I generally assume 75-80% efficiency for highway driving

What button? Are you talking about setting departure time? There is no button that says “precondition”

In the Tesla mobile app, click “schedule” and then you will see the precondition button

@@Adventures_with_nick does it have to be plugged in to see the precondition button?
What do I do it my car is parked outside on cold day and I want to precondition. Battery for driving to work and not charging

    • @Adventures_with_nick

@@shdmd2118 it has to be plugged in for this option. If you are just outside your best bet is to climate control, but that will just pull from the battery it’s not going to save battery

@@Adventures_with_nick I am more looking at protecting battery for longevity . So schedule departure to Desired temp will help precondition battery unplugged? Any idea high high temp needs to be set?

    • @Adventures_with_nick
      @Adventures_with_nick  6 місяців тому

@@shdmd2118 using climate control unplugged will not make a difference to your battery health, it’s going to draw that regardless. The only thing you can do is set gradual temperatures because I’ve noticed if you set a very high temperature it runs the heat pump intensely but if you set gradual temperatures it will draw heat from other parts of the car or at least put less intensity on the heat pump and battery

No.10 sell it and get a diesel and enjoy 800 mile+ range when equivalent winter motorway driving only gives you 100 on a Tesla.
