Man, John Illsley's bass sounds so good on this... that Ampeg stack.... looking at the badge on that, I think that amp couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old at the time... Legendary
At the very end - Mark says something about the sound quality (?) - 'It's murder playing out there'. Then - 'Another one?' Someone says re: doing an encore, then John Illsley (I think) says 'Don't wait too long'. David Knopfler says 'Are they making enough noise?'. Great stuff.
Mark is so scrawny here, it's weird. Idk if he started lifting or just eating more or what. Look how well Mark and David seem to be getting along. I wonder if they really were. This is April 1979. Communiqué was released in June 1979. David left in August 1980. Very sad for the family that there is still a rupture.
No effects? He uses Delay, Reverbs, Choruses, Compressors, live and in the studio. Just a little gain for harmony and sustain but most of it is from his compressor effect. But he is clean in his playing and tone and very fluent with tons of unique articulations.
mark knoplfer can do whatever he wants with a guitar
yeah like he really knows all the chords
It would have been nice if they actually showed it in the video... 😕
He can make it cry or sing
No tiene precio 🇪🇦.
The best songs from Dire Strait's.
Solid Rock is great too. Great guitar work.
Sultans Of Swing.
One of...
So Far Away
All of them are the best. Even his solo stuff
Saw them twice back in the day in Australia...timeless...🙂
26 shows in a row (or something like that) at the Sydney Entertainment Centre back in the late 80's
I saw them twice too but it was in the last tour and it was not the same
One o my face DS songs. Live, seen here for the first time. 👍
4:45 Mark bend so wide that guitar goes out of tune. Yeah love his playing in this song.
El "saltito" del final, no tiene precio😍😍
I was there , somwhere down....it was a great experience!
Como eu amo o som da guitarra do Mark, não me canso de ouvir Dire Straits! 🇧🇷❤️😃
Dire Straits, The Police, The Jam and The Specials🤯
Mark is such a stud. WOW
Never seen this footage before! 👍👍
Perfect Rock&Roll in my opinion... Love Knofler's guitar playing in this song. Especially love this part - 4:45
Este vídeo é uma RELÍQUIA PRECIOSA ♥️💋
3:12 wtf is that rif absolutely amazing
That's the shit. He alternate picks with his thumb and index finger pressed together.
Overtalented always Mark
CHICKIN picken son
Chicken-picking technique.
This video was pure gold. Thanks for sharing.
I think it was their best song too. I was 19, and it meant something to us. Ya had to be there!
boys just wanna’ have fun with their guitars🤩

Yes and your rich old man
You know he'd call her a dead ringer
You got the same command
Plus you mother was a jazz singer
Just the way that her hair fell down around her face
Then I recall my fall from grace, oh yeah
Another time, another place
Lady writer on the TV
She knew all about a history
You couldn't hardly write your name

That Ampeg stack is heard _On Every Street_
To be able to hold someone attention with a song played 40 years earlier isn't easy.
Mark es uno de los mejores guitarrista que escuchado. Tengo 66 años saluos de viña chile
The problem with this video is that it ends.
Tight yet organic performance. Love the interaction believe the band members.
Simply wonderful!❤
Love this - what I would give to have been ar that show! The band sounds super tight - this is an underrated Dire Straits hit
Mark says " Boring Crowd " before saying it's murder out there
Was it David that mentions something about the sound ?
Everybody got the memo
White Pants!
Lady Writer Perfect 🎉
New sound, late 70’s…❤
Camino Viejo de Leganés, en casa de Carlos Heras Hergueta, escuché por primera vez música de un tocadiscos......nunca lo olvidaré.
Another time another place-said to me in 2011 the Prettiest Curly Redhead of my childhood!
The best line up.
Damn - 1979 I was 9 years old and this man had already been on stage for how many years and playing excellent music??
Que buenos esos maes.
It's a big group song now, "Lady Writer!"
Qué grande Mark Knopfler el mejor guitarrista que he visto en mí vida
Шедевр
Didn't know they have ever played on Pinkpop...Good one!
Que pessoa linda, dono desse talento grandioso que Deus lhe deu! Q a proteção divina seja sempre com ele e sua família!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Remember all the times
Love this band
AMEN
Sir Mark
The whole band was rock’n. 😍
To have been in a successful band back in 1979 would have been the best job in the world for me, but alas..
Love it
❤❤❤❤❤ So good 👍
Muy buen tema
Bueno no, excelente,no escuchas esa guitarra?
Pick is boxing (0:53). He was the joker in the early band. #1000vende
gjergj skrame yes he was. I think he was funny.
Ni
Picks incredible
amazing xx
Love it! 😘
Spinal tap moment at the start
thank youuuuu for sharing this treasure!❤
UNO DE LOS CLÁSICOS DEL ROCK EXELENTE TEMA
Is the first time ever the band plays for a big crowd.
The voice over at the beginning (=the Pink Pop festival boss) said they were very nervous.
Way cool footage
E feraaaaa.uma das melhores do Dire Straits
Classic
Quá đỉnh
Essa também é uma das
The best :D
This Is fantastico 😍😍😍
Magnifico
Mark Knopfler --- who other guitar players WISH they could play like ! 😎🎸👍🔥
Não teve guitarrista no mundo igual ao knopfler
White pants squad

Mark knopfler-the Toons finest!

Wasn’t he always kind of scrawny in his younger years?
3:05
How many millions of red strats has Knofler sold for Fender?
Haha I just got one a couple days ago! Fender owes Mark big time
Nearly as many as Hank Marvin
Great document. Thx up.... Does David play a peavey t60 there???
Yeah, he is. Those are really cool guitars.
Nesse show o Deivid está fofo
“Seems like a nice day” haha
He said. Work in 60 thousand
Is deze aflevering nog ergens terug te vinden?
What languaje is this.?
Julio Cesar dutch
Another year to go until the Schecter red with Duncan pickups into a Boogie amp ...
Lmao DS walking off and the other bands standing around watching them walk off.
"How TF do we follow that?!"
Status Quo in the background
Fender bass wolll
Deadiest crowd ever.
Mark doesn't need a tone of distortion or effects because he can actually play guitar, no BS.
No effects? He uses Delay, Reverbs, Choruses, Compressors, live and in the studio. Just a little gain for harmony and sustain but most of it is from his compressor effect. But he is clean in his playing and tone and very fluent with tons of unique articulations.
Knopfler stoned to the hilt
....
All band members in white trousers, planned or coincidence?
Mi rola fav de los Dire Straits
Even tho the last guitar solo was a bit out of tune, Mark doesn't stop surprising me.
Amsterdam ?
Maybe
Landgraaf Holand
@@mihakarizma Nope, Geleen. Landgraaf came around in 1987
Nope, Geleen limburg
@@RastaSaiyaman Holland Geleen indeed!
Donald Trump on rhythm guitar.
Sure!!!
Let's watch the rhythm guitarist sing backup vocals while Mark plays his solo...🤬🤬🤬
Old music sounds horrible, accept from Mark Knopfler, pink Floyd and a very few others.
Thank you for your non-opinion
