  • Hi Folks,
    This is one unfiltered conversation we had on our last weekend catchup where we rode 4 Himalayan 450s (All Kamet White) and discussed about our individual experiences with the machines .
    ‪@abhinavbhatt‬ & I were riding the Cross Spoke Wheel variant while ‪@SrinivasGanesh‬ and Yudhvir were riding their recently purchased near stock models.
    Enjoy this long format video which is full off amazing insights about the Royal Enfield latest ADV and some raw fun conversations with different/comic perspectives.

    Himalayan 450s are still plagued with cone-set issues. My bike was leaning to the right on delivery. This was fixed by adjusting/tightening the coneset. Then the front wheel started wobbling, no wobble felt at the handlebars. The rim seems bent off! Or it's an alignment issue outta the factory. RE HQ is currently investigating my bike.

    • @Sbakade2
      @Sbakade2 5 місяців тому

      Coneset need to be tighten with wrench with proper setting...if they tighten without proper setting...then issue will arrived for sure

    On the next adv roundtable can we discuss why honda & yamaha inspite of being in India for nearly 3 decades surprisingly have fail to capture the booming adv market in India. people have been demanding adv's like crf rally from Honda which is good fit considering the 350-450 segment and yamaha could have brought tenere for the 800 above segment.. I never understood what is wrong with the head honcho's of these brands who fails to see the opportunity.. Can we discuss what the panel thinks about the right fit of adv that should be brought to India..hopefully these dum. CEO's get to see this videos & understand what the consumer actually wants..( honda they are making RE knock off wtf 🤦‍♂️) ...Well I love this banter & chill format keep it up guys.

    I know it’s not apples to apples, but since you guys have big bikes like Tigers and BMW, and now speak highly of the Himalayan as well, do you think one can get good value for money with a Tiger 900 Rally Pro compared to the Himalayan 450? I am considering between both. I know it would not be a fair comparison, but I wouldn’t want to feel like I spent so much on a Tiger when most of that was available for much less on a Himalayan.

    I am an owner of Adv 390 since Jan 2023 and was planning of selling this and getting the himalayan 450. I took a test ride for 4-5kms after its launch and immediately felt disconnected from the motorcycle. I felt there was a lag between my input to the handle and the wheel response.
    No matter how much you mod and praise this, the basic foundations cannot be changed. The floating foot pegs are disappointing. The vibes from engine are not in sync with the ones you feel on the foot pegs (and handlebar if any).
    Apart from this, I do not witness Himalayan 450’s on the streets as much I had expected.
    If you have to keep your mobile’s screen on the entire time to have the GPS work on the console, why have that feature and pay more for it?
    My fellow riders who own it have mentioned that the motorcycle peaks in vibes at the absolute cruising speed of 90-110 kmph.
    I own 3 motorcycles which have been extensively ridden, the penultimate being a RE TB350, I feel himalayan 450 is not worthy upgrading for anyone looking at it being as a perfect mid segment adventure motorcycle.
    Moreover with the after sales perspective, the mechanics at RE are just well versed with UCE engines and little do they know about the 650 twins and the least about sherpa 450’s.
    **THIS 450 IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE ‘D’ IN THE DAKAR**
    Anything appreciable - Golden Rims 😁😂

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox 5 місяців тому +1

      The Himalayan 450 is definitely not perfect but neither is the 390 Adventure. Besides the Himalayan 450, there is no other true adventure bike on the market that offers this level of off road hardware up to 4 lakh rupees. The 390 Adventure is street biased while the Himalayan is off road biased. Since I own a 390 Duke Gen 2, the 390 Adventure is not an upgrade at all but the Himalayan sure seems like it. I found its handling to be really good but KTM is simply the king of handling. I agree on the service aspect, though. I plan on buying this bike after the initial issues have sorted out but I am waiting for the 390 Enduro that was spied recently. That should be the best option for off road use.

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox 5 місяців тому

      PS: The GPS feature is there on all the variants of the Himalayan so you're not paying more for it. The Himalayan starts at the same price as the 390 Adventure X so you are definitely getting a lot more for your money - off road wheels and suspension, full screen navigation and a bigger tank. Meanwhile, the standard variant of the 390 Adv is simply overpriced for what it offers when the X variant has all one needs.

    It’s a nice bike good value I like it ,I have a comment for Royal Enfield you need a lowering kit for this 450 bike as thousands of people are missing out due to. Seat hight especially in Asia at the lowest of 805 still to high for some riders ,in comparison Honda Brough their 300 rally out the seat hight was to high for shorter riders so Honda brought out a lower version the SLS so I bought one thi is what Royal Enfield could do to cater for thousands of shorter riders but like Honda retain the same engine just make the suspension a little shorter ,then I would up grade to a 450 along with many others ,jimmy Australia

    well, good review, the bike is also decent - I am saying this from my own experience, as I also own the 450 himmy. HOWEVER, when you say, pyaar karo na RE ko, that comes from overall customer experience. & RE service centers are HORRIBLE at it. For example, as much great & God level the bike suspension is, when you have to run to the RE service center for 6 months, 2-3 times every week & still they are unable to solve the issue of an annoying sound which comes from the front end of the bike (even after you complaining to RE helpline), then you definitely have a pain in the bum & the issues start creeping up.
    As I also have another bike from Kawasaki, where I never faced these kind of issues. I am not criticizing the author here for anything, it's a genuinely good review about the bike & I agree to all of it. All I am saying is - Royal Enfield has become stubborn & arrogant towards it's customers because a lot of people are not ready to call out RE for their below par service centers & the after sales services & RE has been enjoying that cult following for years despite their poor after sales services.
    Also, the tubeless spoke wheels, while they are easily exporting the same to outside India, we still don't have them. even though RE says there are govt approval issues, i think they should have taken those approvals before launching the bike, & honestly, even if they didn't do that by then & they wanted to see the public reaction to Himalayan 450 before getting the tubeless spoke wheels, RE should have had it for us, atleast as an accessory by now, because people did trust RE when they claimed that they would get the tubeless spoke wheels really soon - that's how a lot of us pre-booked the bike. It's a pain to fix a tube tyre in the middle of nowhere as & when it gets flat. Anyway, you are a group of influencers. RE doesn't bother about us aam janta, but if you wish to push the feedback to RE, please do. the sooner they come with the Tubeless Spoke wheels, is would be easier for all the travelers like us.
    🙏🙏

We ride XPulse, Himalyan 411 and Svartpilen 401, and the refinement of the Himalayan (or RE in general) leaves a sour taste in mouth. How's it a touring bike when it starts to vibrate at 90-110kmph?

    Nice Chatter guys... nJoy. I would love to catchup with you guys whenever I come to delhi. This is a good bike for sure I have already done 3.5K.
    1. About the buzz from single cylinder.. just use a NoNoise Ear plug. it helps and feels like Honda.. trust me
    2. The position of pass light is actually a real problem as you always tend to reach out to front for pass light in emergency.
    3. In my case I accidentally press the clutch often... or it could be that there is lag between throttle and clutch. I am not sure whether I explained well... but there is such an issue.
    4. Sometimes you got to drop the gear down in tricky situations... I have got fuelxPro Plus now... and after installing that I hope this should be resolved.
    5. The touring Wind screen is not good enough after 100 it just tries to blow you off.. all other aftermarket options looks ugly...

      I agree. I have a 390 Duke Gen 2 (BS4) and the engine is nowhere near as smooth as the J-series 350, the BS6 411 and the 650 twin. The 450 engine is somewhat comparable in terms of refinement to the 390 even though it has a 20 mm longer stroke.

    Vibrations hai: chalta hai. It's an RE. Heating hai: Chalta hai it's an RE. Cone set noise hai: itna toh expected hai. Tubeless tyres nahi hai: chalta hai. Itna toh adjust karna hi hoga. 😂. If sab kuch chalta hai after paying 3-4 lakhs for a bike. I guess CT100 should work better. The frustrations you face after buying an RE are endless. Especially if you are a person who doesn't want to get his/her hands dirty to solve those issues. Nobody talks about these in real life. Feels like my dishwasher. Half the time I need to clean the outlets, wipe the walls to remove odor etc so that it works properly. I am better off washing utensils with my hands. The reason you buy a product is for convenience and enjoyment. Not to add another layer of complexity to your already complex 9-5 life.

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox 5 місяців тому

      Except for the cone set, the top variant of the 390 Adventure (direct competitor) has all those problems - vibes, heating and tubes. And that bike is about 1 lakh more expensive than this one. But it's KTM so "chalta hai".

    • @virajvrooms
      @virajvrooms 5 місяців тому

      @@twowheeledparadox I own a KTM and my friend owns a Meteor and except for vibrations, haven't experienced anything else on the KTM. Plus the after sales team is such a delight to communicate with. With the RE, just forget that.

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox 5 місяців тому

      @@virajvrooms Tubes - I'm pretty sure the SW variant of the 390 Adv comes with tubes in the tyres.
      Heating - most people who complain about heating come from 100 cc bikes. Heat emission from KTM's 373 cc hasn't gone down, especially with leaner fueling for BS4/6 norms. It's just that the hot air flow is better managed now for rider comfort. I guess the Himalayan is the same on that front.
      After sales - I assume you are referring to service. On that point, I totally agree. The experience varies. My old 200 Duke has been going to the same KTM technician for 12 years now. He was the one who rebuilt its engine twice and then installed the new one in my bike in the first 1.5 years of ownership. KTM first batch issues were horrible. My 390 is a late batch model so it has been largely trouble-free. In RE, such highly skilled mechanics are rare.
      Vibrations - yeah, we agree here. The interesting thing is that the Himalayan has a 21 mm longer stroke than the KTM 390 Adv and yet the vibes are comparable.

    • @virajvrooms
      @virajvrooms 5 місяців тому

      @@twowheeledparadox Bottom line is KTM Adv is much easy bike to live with. The global community is so strong that you have long list of DIYs. I managed to fit the 790 s cruise control on my 390 ADV.

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox 5 місяців тому

      @@virajvrooms Yes, six years after the 390 engine was launched, they alleviated the infamous coolant-oil mixing issue. KTM bikes have become easy to live with now. KTM and RE are more or less at par when it comes to issues in early batches. Both have become better than before. Is the long list of DIYs for repairs or mods? The Himalayan seems to need little to no modification. The cruise control is a great addition but my experience with KTM electrics tells me not to mess with them too much. I wouldn't do so with RE either. To me, it's a nice-to-have. Bottom-line is that the Himalayan has all the essentials sorted for an adventure bike. The 390 Adventure is a good tourer but not really made to be an adventure bike. Until the new 390 Adventure and Enduro hit the market, the Himalayan seems to be the best adv bike under 4 lakh rupees.
