Mazda cars are so classy, their designs will stand the test of time years from now. Can't say the same for some of the competition that tried too hard to be different.
I told my brother just the other day that Mazda has managed to bottle that timelessness look that only Lexus, Toyota 4 runners in particular and maybe BMW have captured.
I just traded in my 2020 CR-V for a 2022 CX-5. I was blown away by how premium the interior of the CX-5 feels for the price. The engine and handling are what really sold me. It's night and day over the CR-V. After 4 Hondas, I am switching to Mazda
My wife and I bought the first edition way back in late 2012 and we still have it 92,000 miles later. Prior to that we had the Mazda CX-7 (which sold us on the Mazda experience). Our Cx-5 is getting long in the tooth now and we're hoping to change vehicle later this year. I recently drove a 2022 CX-5 courtesy vehicle from our local dealership for a couple of days while ours 2013 model was getting serviced. It was the 2.5L with 186HP so 30HP and 30lbs torque better than ours. So, I got a good comparison of how the CX-5 has evolved. First thing I would say about Mazda having owned them going back to 2006 is in my experience they have great build quality and reliability. We've kept up all the maintenance services over the years and our CX-5 has never faltered once in nearly ten years of ownership. They are great daily driver for people that don't need the space of a midsize or large SUV. As Andrea pointed out the sporty handling and easy maneuverability are strong points. The steering is well weighted and it's easy to know where the wheels are pointed. If you like that overly boasted light steering feel look elsewhere. Some improvements and differences I noticed with the 2022 CX-5 courtesy vehicle over our 2013 are; The extra 30HP in the newer base engine is considerably peppier than our 155HP engine so the 2.5L with the 256HP must feel decently quick. The steering wheel leather is softer and more premium feeling, the seats are much better cushioned and more supportive, the material quality throughout the cabin and especially around the dash with the large info screen and more modern center console is a lot nicer. There's a lot less wind and road noise compared to ours and although the suspension is on the firm side with the newer models it's much smoother over bumps, road imperfections and expansion joints than our 2013 model. Although our CX-5 has the outdated touchscreen I still would rather a touchscreen or at least the choice of it and a rotary knob to use the info screen. The trunk space in the newer models is also noticeable smaller than the first generation. Overall if you enjoy driving, want a bit of sporty handling in a very reliable and upscale feeling small SUV it's hard to beat the CX-5. They may be a small company but with the CX-50, CX-70 and CX-90 on the way Mazda are continuing to put out very competitive vehicles. I just wish the new future models were coming out sooner!
Me too. For the price cannot go wrong. I drove a Co worker Q5 and I prefer the cx 5. The Q5 steering is too light with no feedback. The golf GTI has better steering than the Q5
I just bought a 22 CX-5. I LOVE IT! Beautiful interior. I tested a Tucson, it feels very stiff compared to this one. Since its mostly me in my car, I didn't need a huge SUV. To me it drives well, and is so sophisticated looking it just fit my style. The others seemed more cheap looking inside.
Seats are a little on the firm side on my ‘21 Touring, but you get used to it. Could use more bolstering and actual lumbar support on lower trims, but you really can’t complain when you get safety features, same 10.25” screen, push button start, radar cruise and safety sense, and leather wrapped steering wheel standard.
After nearly two-and-a-half million miles of driving various other vehicles I can truthfully say that I finally have the vehicle I want and need.. ergonomic design and multiple safety features is of prime importance as well as the entire instrumentation panel and screen... can't wait to take my first long road trip
Just picked one up last week. They gave us an offensive amount for our old car. So much nicer than our last Cx5 Grand Touring! The Cx5 has been continually improved over the last 8 years into a upscale vehicle that destroys the competition.

A very nicely balanced review. Your presentation is refreshingly pleasing with enough information to be interesting to the driving public. Whether it is going to impress you, excite you or just be a comfortable experience. You are making it easy for me to choose a new vehicle (if I can get one).
I absolutely disagree with you. If Mazda is the boutique hotel the RAV4 is the Holiday Inn. I have driven both vehicles extensively. The RAV4 feels very cheap. The glass is thin and cracks very easily. I cannot express how noisy it is. Mazda feels expensive , quiet and composed. For build quality the Mazda takes the trophy; it is built in Japan! The RAV4 is built in North America. Even the Lexus NX is built in North America… and I am sure the NX is noisier than the Mazda as well. Some of the most unreliable vehicles built by Toyota used the 2.4L engine in the past.
I'm with Andrea on the heavier steering feel. That's one reason I keep my old (2007) Mercedes C350 -- weighty steering; makes the whole car feel substantial.
Mazda is for DRIVERS- people who love to grip the wheel, feel the road and drive for hours- I always drove a 400km business trip over flying when my office thought it was crazy because I LOVE driving and THis will be my 4th Mazda!
2021 US Carbon Edition offered the turbo motor and bose audio system for around $30k out the door. No longer options on the 2022 version. They only get standard AWD this year. Run and get the last few remaining 2021's if you can find one.
Thankyou for the very informative complete reviews ,you both are appreciated by people who are trying to decide on a vehicle, complete honest and intuitive
I ordered one in snowflake white back In December, and last weekend the dealership gave me an update that possibly I could have the car by the third week of March or end of March . The microchip shortage ,plus supply chain issues are making it a nightmare, the salesman told me that every new car that gets to the dealership is already sold .
You used a really good analogy. It honestly DOES feel like a German car. That's my experience now too. I really like the CX5 and it feels very much like driving a Merc.
What I find that trying to get to the touch screen for me as a driver is many times too far away, takes my eyes of the road too much, and when driving over bumpy it undulating roads I find tapping the right icon challenging. Once you get a handle on the knob navigating is so easy, so I am with Zack on this for the most part. But Andrea for choice.
I heard Mazda tuned the suspension of 2022 CX5 VERY HARSH. Nevertheless, if you want the sportiest premium grade CUV get a CX5. If you want the cushion ride butterfly smooth engine get Cherooke V6. If you want an agricultural tractor, get RAV4 😂
One improvement for Canadians. The big M badge in my 2020 CX5 GT housing the radar cruise should be heated. It tends to freeze over and disables the cruise and all its benefits. My wife 2017 Mazda 6 GT with tech and performance packages has it heated.
Just wanted to thank Zack and Andrea for this channel. We bought a compact SUV in early January and used Motormouth and one other great UA-cam reviewer to narrow down our search. Especially enjoy their different viewpoints. We got a 2021 CX-5 Carbon Edition Turbo. Didnt get a '22 because in the US they dont offer the Turbo except in the highest trim lines, so we were able to get the Turbo for around $33k (US). That was important to my wife - she loved the way to the Mazda drove and the power of the Turbo, and that it was an affordable option to a X1/X3 or Q5. It seems with this review perhaps Andrea and Zack arent quite as positive on the CX5 for '22 as they were for '21? Is that because this generation is showing some age, or upgraded competition from the Tucson and the Rogue? Thank you Motormouth - really enjoy watching your reviews.
I like both the 2021 and 2022 models, I would buy either in a second. I feel in this review, we wanted to point out that this type of firmer suspension and heavier steering may not be for everyone. It is exactly what I like and I think it's one of the best in this category. But, we all have different preferences. Thank you for the kind words, I am really glad to hear that our reviews have been helpful in you narrowing down your decision. You picked a fantastic vehicle, LOVE that turbo engine.
I liked it enough after a test drive to place an order. Mine trim is two from the top. It’s so sophisticated and quiet. I’m used to my mid-trim Forester I’ve had for MANY years. I wish it had more HP. I probably won’t be towing anything. I may have to swap out the tires.
If Mazda combines the red seats from the Kuro Edition, blacked-out front chrome and mirror from Sport Design trim, and body-colored wheel arch and bumpers from the Signature trim, all into one package, that would be the perfect CX-5 😎
Appreciate the reviews done by Motormouth. I just bought a CX-5 PP Soul Red / Parchment for my daughter. Your review episodes, comparisons, and opinion influenced my purchase decision. Plus, we're having fun imitating how you both say Mazda!!😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
I love watching you guys. I still am having trouble deciding between the CX5 or the Forrester or the Outback. You guys re great and please keep up the great work. Cheers from California.
I too was deciding between the Forester and the CX-5. I test drove both vehicles. I don't like the Foresters CVT transmission, sluggish acceleration and start/stop feature. Those were the deal breakers for me. I'm very happy with my 2021 CX-5.
Oh. Thanks for letting me know that. No issues with the infotainment or the smaller back seat. I am going to wait for the cx50. I really hope they don’t have the cx50 on the black hood decal that I have seen in pix. Lol. Petty I know. For me it will be a forrester or a Mazda.
The previous CX-5 Turbo is about as firm as I would go in a vehicle (a buddy of mine has it and I ride in it frequently); if this is even firmer, then I think it would be too firm for many people. I'm also not crazy about the design changes; prefer the old look. Thanks for another great review, guys; looking forward to the next one!
@@KaramM I haven't tried the NA version myself, but my friend test drove it before settling on the Turbo said that it was a bit softer riding, but not by much.
I have heard concerns and also believe there is a TSB bulletin on oil consumption with the turbo charged engines regarding the valve seals and there is not a fix yet
My 2018 CX-5 Touring w/Preferred Package in Snowflake Pearl Metallic Still Looks Classy To This Day. Granted I Upgraded The Wheel/Tires Package From the Stock Ones and I Upgraded the Sound System (The BOSE Factory System Lacks Bass and Overall Dynamic Range)...
Me too, I ended up leasing the Mazda CX-5 Premium Plus Package in the Soul Red Crystal metallic with the Parchment Leather seats. I really wanted the Turbo Signature for the power, beepers and navigation but I did not like the dark brown seats and the Turbo with the signature had black seats. Hence, I decided I just wanted a more airy feeling in interior which will make me happy. Hopefully in 3 years after my lease ends, the Turbo will allow a lighter Parchment Leather Option.
I like the hotel analogy...sometimes a little off the grid place can be a refreshing change...and like how they try a little harder than the big players...like the underdog...great review...enjoy
I had one as a rental. The Apple CarPlay wouldn’t work. It kept connecting and disconnecting constantly and everytime I had to go somewhere I’d have to enter a destination manually, which took forever.
Having owned the top model of a 2018 Mazda CX-5GT, and currently a top model 2021 CX-30 (non turbo) Mazda, I decided to take an Audi A4 for a test drive. It was one of my shortest test drives ever. The “light steering” was a major immediate deal breaker for me. The sales person who had told me it is the “way they drive” that sells these cars was surprised to see me back so soon. I have him the keys and said “if I wanted a car that drove like a Buick, would shop for a Buick”. For a Mazda driver like me that places a premium on a car feeling like an extension of myself when driving, the awful, over boosted steering of the Audi A4 was a non starter. To add insult to injury, even the top Trim in Canada in 2021, did not have the option of memory position driver seat and side mirrors. Another feature that once you have it, you won’t be without. Not having that in a “luxury car” is heresy. I’m looking for something a little bigger again, something different than the CX-5. The new CX-50 to me is a major styling disappointment from Mazda. If I wanted a vehicle akwardly styled like a RAV4, I would buy a RAV4. So much for Koodo design. I think I will wait for the CX-60/70 to come to Canada. Looks more promising.
The used car prices are insane. A 3 year old Forester with 60k kms is the same price as this brand new mid trim CX-5. How does that make any sense? That Forester should be under $20k.
I just trst drove one of these. It was a 2021.5. It drove really well. Very refined feeling but a bit tight on room. The engine felt good but not as powerful as I expected. It rode well. Firm but controlled. Then I went and drove a 2022 Subaru Forester. I immediately liked the Forester better (and I love Mazdas). Here's why. First was visibility. The Forester felt so open and airy with huge windows. Second was the ride. The Forester handled all bumps much better and smoother. Third was the dash layout. It was easier to navigate and use. The engine wasn't as powerful but peppy enough. The cvt didn't bother me as much as I thought though I preferred the Mazda transmission. I wanted to love the Mazda but the Subaru won me over.
Thank you for your review. I did not have time to test the Subaru Forester this year but I tested it 3 years ago and I did not like the backup camera on it then.
3:32 Love the CX-5 updates! The all new CX-50 is not based on the current CX-5 platform, it is based on the modular platform that underpins the Mazda3, CX-30 and the MX-30 :) it will be longer, wider, slightly lower height with a higher ground clearance!
@@Motormouth... Zack - Please understand I work for Mazda and you have a lot of people who take what you say as fact and that information is not fact! The CX-9 rides on it's own platform shared with no other Mazda's, the CX-5 is based on the Mazda6 platform and is in no way related to the the upcoming CX-50 which is based on the 7th gen skyactiv platform that only underpins the Mazda3, CX-30 and MX-30.
@@Motormouth... Thanks. Had it for a few days now. A few things to get used to but I'm really enjoying driving it! I do wish there was a bit more in the way of storage.
I totally agree with you. If the Turbo or Turbo Signature had the option of the Parchment leather interior, I would have negotiated on one of these two trims. Instead I leased the Mazda CX-5 with the premium plus package in that gorgeous soul red crystal metallic with the parchment leather seats with less power that at least had the auto folding power door mirrors and heated steering wheel.
The 2022 refresh was just right! Infotainment system very responsive…I love the knob and no touchscreen to reach for…and constantly clean…it’s interior luxury goes head to head with Lexus NX, Audi, Volvo, BMW, MB and the exterior of the Signature is sweet! Looks and feels amazing to drive and sophisticated. I cancelled my Lexus NX order and got the signature model. If you want a utilitarian feel and need cargo space get a RAV, Honda but if you want a fun fun fun car to drive…get a CX5 and be amazed by quality and overall value. Had a RAV for ten years and loved it…but driving the CX5 blew me away and I’m all about the interior luxury! It’s fun…and luxurious and priced for the masses. What’s not to like?
Totally agree with you. My last two vehicles were RAV4s and I really did like them but I love my 2022 CX 5 carbon edition. Not as much room but the great interior and much quieter ride make up for that. I don’t miss the touch screen at all.
Thank you for uploading your video. I'm thinking of buying the 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo. What is the actual MPG city/highway/combined that I can expect with the turbo engine?
I'm with Zack for once....touch screens are messy. It really does drive more like a German car; never thought of that before. We just got the Turbo for our daughter, and, I love driving it (Andrea sold me)!!
You're just saying that because you bought it and got used to it. Your smart phone is a touchscreen. You wait and see, the next Mazda generation will all be touchscreen again. Then in the 2nd hand market where your car will be, most people will avoid the 2020 to 22 models purely because of the lack of touchscreen. I know so
@@ranimbill9331 NOPE! It's my daughter's car. I drive an Audi, I have to wipe down the screens about every 3 mins. Once you live with both, you realize newest is not always best or cleanest. Buyers may not recognize it, but living both I can attest to it. Especially Audi, the screens and piano black everywhere looks great, but is awful in everyday life.
@@factsmatter8258 Piano black sucks for getting finger prints and all yes. I care about the safety aspect. Touchscreen easy and quick to navigate. More eyes off the road in non touchscreens...especially young drivers who are persistent to sort somethong out and multi task. Could be dangerous. Just my opinion. I always wipe down my phone, my infotainement system screen. Hygenic at any rate.
What happened to the price of the turbo engine option.....looks like it is now an over 5,000 USD option on both the CX-5 and the CX-50!!!! What they did is eliminate the possibility of getting the Turbo Engine on any of the less optioned models such as the Carbon Edition....so essentially the 2.5 Turbo = 2.5 S Premium Plus with a Turbo engine. From that perspective I suppose it is a 2,450 USD option for the engine upgrade.
I think the Subaru Outback with the turbo engine offers greater value for money as compare to this as it has more room , more power and accessories f you don’t mind the CVT it has great all way driving dynamics. Plus the regular gas it uses saves a lot on the gas station and the crazy resale value is just a plus.
I was looking to do my 2019 trade in for a 2022 but I see the cup holders are still behind the gear shift. It is so awkward to reach back to get your drink. You don’t use the gear shift as much as the cup holders. I guess I will hold on to my 2019;;I love my Mazda but my 2016 was better. If I had my heated seats on before turning my car off, it would come back on when restarted. My 2019 doesn’t, so it’s still cold when I go out. My visual screen was inlaid not stuck up luck a sore thumb
I love everything about the cx5 & almost purchased one last month until I found out the cylinders deactivation turned me off. Why would a 4 cylinder engine has to have the feature?
It’s not present in the turbo models and I believe it’s only present in the upper trims of the non-turbo models. Mazda had a few complaints so they honestly might have abandoned that feature. Check the spec sheet if you go look at one.
Starting to shop for a new vehicle and I like the looks of the Mazda (CX-5 and CX-30) better than the Rav4. I am passed the age of starting a family, more at the stage of this could be my second to last vehicle... usually just 1 or 2 of us in the vehicle plus a dog. I am currently driving a 2011 Kia Soul, standard transmission, so I prefer the feel of heavier steering over light power steering. Wondering if this would be better for me than the Rav4 (and slightly cheaper is a definite bonus)..
I just bought my 2022 CX 5 carbon edition two weeks ago and I love it. Had a 2019 Rav4 but wanted something with a nicer interior and better handling. I got both with this car. Plus it is much quieter and the engine shifts so much smoother than my RAV4. I liked my RAV4 but really like the Mazda more. Yes the cargo area is smaller and no touch screen but only took me about two days to get used to the dial and I actually like it better. The RAV4 did get better gas mileage though about two miles to the gallon better. Definitely drive both to see the difference. Both are great choices.
My current CX-5 Diesel have touchscreen. I love the touchscreen better than the rotary knob. It's much easier and convenient to select or enter the address for GPS NAV than the Knob. I also wish Mazda kept that option in their new model.

I agree…no way the RAV-4 can be a Hilton. It may be reliable, but it is one ugly CUV.
He's just talking about Sales.
Couldn't agree more. Everything in the Rav 4 feels so cheap and the drive is so sad and don't forget the lack of power.
I agree about the new RAV 4. The interior quality is crap, it’s slow and it handles sluggishly
I'm with Andrea on the heavier steering feel. That's one reason I keep my old (2007) Mercedes C350 -- weighty steering; makes the whole car feel substantial.
I seriously like driving my daughter's more than my SQ8 bc of the firm steering...reminds me of my old Mercedes. Wish Audi had firmer steering.
I like that CX-5 is quiet at highway speeds. Which other non-luxury SUVs are quiet?
Mazda is for DRIVERS- people who love to grip the wheel, feel the road and drive for hours- I always drove a 400km business trip over flying when my office thought it was crazy because I LOVE driving and THis will be my 4th Mazda!
2021 US Carbon Edition offered the turbo motor and bose audio system for around $30k out the door. No longer options on the 2022 version. They only get standard AWD this year. Run and get the last few remaining 2021's if you can find one.
Not $30K anymore. The new non Turbo is $32K and no Bose
Thankyou for the very informative complete reviews ,you both are appreciated by people who are trying to decide on a vehicle, complete honest and intuitive

Wave back to you lol
Placed an order last weekend. Cheap shortages cause 4-6months waiting but hopefully it’ll be a great car like you reviewed here!
It is so tough right now with the chip shortage, the wait times are long. Hopefully it will arrive sooner than the estimation.
4-6 for a Mazda is crazy. Can only imagine what the wait times for a Toyota RAV4 hybrid must be.
@@kartofle123 A follower told me 6 months for the RAV4 Hybrid
I know right. Insane but it seems it is reality for brand-new cars.
Some youtube channels I do like the video before even watching, this is one of them! Great work 👌
Awe thank you so much!
You really can't go wrong with Mazda thx guys for all the info ...
Looking amazing as always, Andrea. The Mazda is nice, too.
Thank you!
Yes, lots of options out there to suit everyone's driving preference.
U heard? Why not drive it. Feels like a bmw
rav4 is just plain ugly especially compared to CX-5 😃
If you want a Soviet tank then get RAV4
One improvement for Canadians. The big M badge in my 2020 CX5 GT housing the radar cruise should be heated. It tends to freeze over and disables the cruise and all its benefits. My wife 2017 Mazda 6 GT with tech and performance packages has it heated.
I luv my 2021 CX-5 GT Turbo. So much fun to drive. If you can afford it, get the turbo.
Both are good but I prefer the ride of the 2021 model. Well done picking the turbo, you will love it!
@@andreaspencer9813 I like the heavier steering which helps me go around curves and not oversteer in another lane.
the hotel analogy was great! You two work great together, good show.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I actually like the fact that Mazda doesn't have an alternate ego luxury bramd. Mazda is Mazda.
I just became a proud owner of the CX5 premium plus and there is no badging that states the trim level. I'm not really a fan but it is what it is.
Is the suspension really that firm?
@K it is firm but not overly firm. I'm coming from a 2020 Corolla XSE and honestly it feels pretty similar.
Congratulations on your new CX-5, enjoy it, what a great crossover!
That's the beauty and understated confidence of Mazda. They don't need to slather their vehicles with stupid emblems.
I wish they had the badging on the car also.
I have to say Mazda is looking sharp.
I wish they would extend the screen down over that empty bit of dashboard below it to show more info digitally. Could easily double the screen size.
I agree.
Right now, this is the ONLY car model in it's class that can withstand the more serious crash testing standards coming up.
Thanks for letting us know. Safety is important to me.
I liked it enough after a test drive to place an order. Mine trim is two from the top. It’s so sophisticated and quiet. I’m used to my mid-trim Forester I’ve had for MANY years. I wish it had more HP. I probably won’t be towing anything. I may have to swap out the tires.
Love the magical chemistry (love) that Zack and Andrea have. Am a 32 year old guy, hope I find someone who cherishes me as much Andrea adores Zack.
Andrea is the best!
Too bad they don't have a hybrid. Prices of gas in Vancouver today are 1.82 per litre. RAV4 all the way for me hybrid.
If Mazda combines the red seats from the Kuro Edition, blacked-out front chrome and mirror from Sport Design trim, and body-colored wheel arch and bumpers from the Signature trim, all into one package, that would be the perfect CX-5 😎
Every time I watch you, you are always professional. Bogdan NY.
Thank you very much!
Great news, now if we could get you guys to use metric, we'd be all set!
You guys give the best reviews ever, very descriptive and straight to it !!!!!

I love watching you guys. I still am having trouble deciding between the CX5 or the Forrester or the Outback. You guys re great and please keep up the great work. Cheers from California.
Wow, thank you so much, we really appreciate the kind words. Happy to hear you are enjoying the content.
I'd wait for the cx50
I too was deciding between the Forester and the CX-5. I test drove both vehicles. I don't like the Foresters CVT transmission, sluggish acceleration and start/stop feature. Those were the deal breakers for me. I'm very happy with my 2021 CX-5.
Oh. Thanks for letting me know that. No issues with the infotainment or the smaller back seat. I am going to wait for the cx50. I really hope they don’t have the cx50 on the black hood decal that I have seen in pix. Lol. Petty I know. For me it will be a forrester or a Mazda.
@@Grizz-one Looking forward to driving it!
Thanks for watching! NX 350 Hybrid drops Saturday!
Is the turbo firmer than the NA models?
@@andreaspencer9813 Thanks for the heads up, Andrea; will be watching for sure!

I have heard concerns and also believe there is a TSB bulletin on oil consumption with the turbo charged engines regarding the valve seals and there is not a fix yet
Thank you for letting us know that the turbo charged engines are having this problem.
Really wish they’d upgrade the app & remote start to include thermostat settings
Great video as usual! I ordered a '22 CX-5 GT around a month ago, I'm hoping to pick it up by the end of the week. Really excited! :)
Wow, good for you, I can't tell you how much fun I had with this one. Congratulations!
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing the CX50 with the turbo engine
Are the seats any more comfortable than with prior models?
My 2018 CX-5 Touring w/Preferred Package in Snowflake Pearl Metallic Still Looks Classy To This Day. Granted I Upgraded The Wheel/Tires Package From the Stock Ones and I Upgraded the Sound System (The BOSE Factory System Lacks Bass and Overall Dynamic Range)...
I wish the Turbo would come with the lighter Parchmen leather option. I don't like the Black or Brown, and its the only options on the turbo models.
I come for the watches and stick around for the car talk:)
Nice. You get a gold star if you know what watch Zack is wearing? Not common.
Mazda definitely now leads the car field
I had one as a rental. The Apple CarPlay wouldn’t work. It kept connecting and disconnecting constantly and everytime I had to go somewhere I’d have to enter a destination manually, which took forever.
It would be nice to know what that colour is ,quite nice
It's called Polymetal Grey Metallic
The used car market is crazy right now!
It's unusual times right now. Things will get back to normal soon.
My brother just traded his 2016 Mustag GT convertible and got a trade in value higher that his purchase price in 2018 ....insane.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH I certainly hope so!
Please tell me, I did not get it... Is the ride stiffer now OR it fits in the "soft" category?
Great review guys! I'm still waiting for the CX-50 to compare with this before pulling the trigger. 👍🏻
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to reviewing the new CX-50.
Good idea to wait. From what I’ve seen the Cx-50 looks more rugged
How does the new Mazda CX5 compare to Lexus NX350?
Doesn't the premium fuel have to be 93 octane or better to get the HP difference? That's not just "Premium" and is hard to find.
Great guys you remind me of Mulder and Scully but in positive sense!
What compact suv has most comfortable seats? I test drove rav4 yesterday while servicing my old Corolla and it was so uncomfortable.
Ford makes great seats as well as Nissan. The Rogue and the Escape or Bronco Sport all very comfortable.
@@andreaspencer9813 Thank you!
3:32 Love the CX-5 updates! The all new CX-50 is not based on the current CX-5 platform, it is based on the modular platform that underpins the Mazda3, CX-30 and the MX-30 :) it will be longer, wider, slightly lower height with a higher ground clearance!
They are all based on the same Skyactiv scalable platform including the CX-9
@@Motormouth... Zack - Please understand I work for Mazda and you have a lot of people who take what you say as fact and that information is not fact! The CX-9 rides on it's own platform shared with no other Mazda's, the CX-5 is based on the Mazda6 platform and is in no way related to the the upcoming CX-50 which is based on the 7th gen skyactiv platform that only underpins the Mazda3, CX-30 and MX-30.

Boohoo.
I totally agree with you. If the Turbo or Turbo Signature had the option of the Parchment leather interior, I would have negotiated on one of these two trims. I’m so excited for it
The 2022 refresh was just right!
I have the 2022 Mazda Cx 5 carbon edition, it’s amazing!
Great trim! Enjoy!

Such a great handling crossover so glad you and your daughter are loving it!
I know so
@@ranimbill9331 Looks like I will be in luck then as no touchscreen for me either. My cars and bikes have a job to do.
We just got one of these and love it. It's ride is so smooth. Also just got a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL.
You got a 2022 CX-5? How does the ride compare to your Santa Fe?
What happened to the price of the turbo engine option.....looks like it is now an over 5,000 USD option on both the CX-5 and the CX-50!!!! What they did is eliminate the possibility of getting the Turbo Engine on any of the less optioned models such as the Carbon Edition....so essentially the 2.5 Turbo = 2.5 S Premium Plus with a Turbo engine. From that perspective I suppose it is a 2,450 USD option for the engine upgrade.
Does the CX5 have a strong resale value?
🤩 definitely will be watching this with the wife after work
Excellent, thank you!
I have heard comments regarding the aggravating cylinder deactivation,is there an off switch somewhere on the dash to manually turn it off?
I think the Subaru Outback with the turbo engine offers greater value for money as compare to this as it has more room , more power and accessories f you don’t mind the CVT it has great all way driving dynamics. Plus the regular gas it uses saves a lot on the gas station and the crazy resale value is just a plus.
The CX-5 can also run on regular gas.
Got one. I'm very happy with it
how is the Rav4 above the Cx5??
In sales, RAV4 outsells all small SUVs.
I love everything about the cx5 & almost purchased one last month until I found out the cylinders deactivation turned me off. Why would a 4 cylinder engine has to have the feature?
I heard the turbo models don’t have cylinder deactivation, but I could be wrong
It’s not present in the turbo models and I believe it’s only present in the upper trims of the non-turbo models. Mazda had a few complaints so they honestly might have abandoned that feature. Check the spec sheet if you go look at one.

Can't wait for your review of the new (upcoming) CX-50!
