    In Slovenia, the CX-5 is 2 years old, maybe € 2,000-3,000 (just a little more in $) cheaper than a new one ... but no one sells used ones - if you manage to find one, it's like winning the lottery.
    I ordered a new one a year ago ... and at the end of this month I have a delivery deadline ... and my salesman, who has already changed employer during this time (also sells Mazda), asked me to stop at him when I get the car,so he can look at it and take pictures because he doesn't have one to show ... he said he barely got one CX-5 at the next batch as a company car,so that he has at least one to show and for test drives.
    Can you imagine that ... he says the CX-30 isn't a problem - you can get any, anytime, .... but he doesn't have a single CX-5

    This is going to be long...
    After I lost my 2012 Hyundai Sonata in 2016, I started doing a lot of research into vehicles via CarGurus. My specifications would always make sure I had a sunroof, Bluetooth, and that the vehicle was a 2012 or later. It didn't take long through 2017 for me to fall in love with what I saw from Mazda. By 2020, I'd made the decision to get a Mazda6, particularly the 2017 GT with the Premium Package.
    Then, winter came and brought its infamous Chicago snowfall.
    It was at this point that I looked to the CX-5. This was already my second choice, but the available AWD made it first. Again, I was looking at the GTP, because it had all of the same options as the 6. Over time, I crossed out the 17 and 18 models because I preferred the appearance of the guages in the 19 and later models (and the ventilated seats).
    While I do like the look of the 2022 model, I don't like the fact that the fog lights were removed. For that reason, more than price, I'd take a '21 CX-5 over a '22. I have yet to make a purchase, but I regularly eye '19-'21 CX-5s on used car sites

    Never ever buy a used turbo unless you have a clear service history. Turbos break down oil quickly. Anything past 5k between oil changes and it quickly wears down the turbo, leading to premature failure. And when they go south the car is done. It's an entire engine replacement. I've seen them fail as soon as 50k on the clock.

    • @aussie8114
      @aussie8114 10 місяців тому

      @@DSPNWtoCali I’m no expert, I’m just aware of the issues I’ve mentioned.
      60,000 miles seems a lot over that amount of time. I chose to buy a new 2023 turbo as a second car, it won’t do more than 5,000 miles a year so it should last forever.
      If your car is not a turbo it is likely not effected by the valve stem issue in the 2021 year. I remember reading that it’s possible Mazda fitted the incorrect valve stem seals to many turbo engines in that period, it’s thought they had plenty of valve stem seals left over from the diesel engines so they used them in the turbo engines, or they simply got them mixed up.
      Personally I felt more comfortable getting a 2023 model but would have probably been ok getting a late 2022 model. I think Mazda recognised their error in late 2021. Noting it only effected the turbo engines not the standard 2.5 litre. The standard 2.5 litre had a different knocking issue in the 2018, 2019 years.
      I can say that my turbo is really good and the need of a turbo is likely not really needed. I think the non turbo would have plenty of zoom zoom.
      Make sure the servicing has been done and oil changes at correct intervals or earlier. Personally I think an oil change at about 5,000 miles is a wise choice on any modern car. I think modern cars are more temperamental than the older ones.

    • @aussie8114
      @aussie8114 10 місяців тому

      @@DSPNWtoCali By the way, you say the car is a CPO, that seems a bit odd given it’s pretty high mileage over a short time. I thought one of the CPO requirements was a low mileage. Some people feel dealers list a car as CPO yet not fully justified.

      I don't follow Mazda much, and this will be our only time buying a newer vehicle that isn't a Toyota.
      Then again it is a 2021, meaning the vehicle has been driven in 2020, so I suppose the miles should be about right. Another things is, most 2021 that are for sale anywhere, has the same amount of miles. Now you are making me think too much now. Hahaha.

      @@aussie8114 plus the 2021 are own and driven in 2020. Not in 2021. Meaning if the 60,000 miles, given 15,000 a years, that seem about correct. Even though it is consider a 3 years old car but driven at least 4 years to date.

    I’d rather wait a few months for a new one than spend the same amount and get it used 😂

      well seeing how a fully loaded non turbo is 37k and a 2017 with the same options is 28k with 30k miles... makes a huge difference if you can't wait to save 10k

      Bought a 21 grand touring months ago. 24.5k with 38k on it. New grand touring AWDs go for almost 40. Don't play yourself. Even with your pricing a year ago, you musta been high to think how you were.

    Just stay away from the 2.2 diesel. Carbon build up can destroy the engine. Just saying...

      I had 2017 grand touring. Big issues with navigation system. Mazda would not repair at their cost .told us manufacturer would not support the dealer. They said back in 17 Mazda didn't no much about electronics. Told us to by 2023. We traded for a Cadillac

    This must be a joke! A CX5 has issues brand new so how would a car that is plagued with problems that the manufacturer and dealerships fail to resolve be a good used car. Hard shifting Transmission, rattling interior, noisy engine, premature rear brake ware, premature mount failure, premature strut failures, glitchy infotainment system and the worse steering components I've ever experienced). Beware of UA-cam videos telling you what's good and recommending you buy items that will financially hurt your family. Yes, I'm a CX5 owner and I can that confirm my comments are accurate. Check out the negatives via a Google search with all of the issues I mentioned and make a wise decision. I hate when people make videos like this which hurt the consumer and their families.

    I am not going to watch the video coz the answer is blindingly bleeding obvious. Of course you should. Then look after it and keep it for as long as reasonably practical. If you dont, you neither have very specific needs or your brain fell out years ago.

    Lol never watch these misleading dealership videos and never buy a CPO car, rather buy a brand new after negotiating Out The Door Price for 15% discount!
