Well i got one and i love it! Paired it up with a Tram 3500 and it works fantastic, thanks for putting out usefull and informative videos, 73s to you & yours!
Thank you- Sounds like a good setup with the Tram 3500
12/22/2023: Excellent Review. I ordered mine last nite. My old Radio Shack isn't cutting it any more. I just decided to get back into CB after many years. This is what I have been waiting for. Thanks, Best Regards and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you as well.
I was looking for a CB radio to put in my mustang. Since the space was limited, I wanted to put it in the dash. When I saw the set up you had with the McKinley in your Volvo, I knew I had to go with that. years later, I am still pleased with it!
Very cool! I am glad that I could help give you some ideas
I remember a couple of years ago, I commented on your McKinley video. I said if President made the same radio with FM that it would be the perfect radio. I did indeed buy one late last year. It's better than the original. Long time subscriber. Love your videos. Keep waiting to hear you on DX. If I ever do, I'll yell it out. 73's
Thanks for sharing that and thanks for the support of the channel
Eric....This is the radio I've been waiting for! It has a lot of bells and whistles! I'm going to purchase one and use it as a base radio! Great demo! Thanks! 👍
Glad I could help you
That’s a sweet rig! I also noticed your Apple IIc monitor. That brings back a lot of memories from my childhood. I loved that computer. And I still have all of my 5.25 floppy’s.
I have had that Apple for a while now- it is a fun piece of history
Been waiting for this one. When FM was first added i called president and asked them for this radio. They said they were qorking on it but didnt have a release date. Glad it is finally here
I've bugged them about it for a while too. So cool to have it before Christmas.
Thanks from NW Oregon I misplaced Manual and couldn't get off of Weather Alert and kept switching to Weather during DX. So your videos helped.!
Glad it helped!
I made it back for the premiere. It seems like it functions like the original McKinley except they added FM and 7 color choices. My original one only has 3 colors. I am glad that they kept alot of the stuff the same so I don't feel like I am having to learning everything over from scratch. Great job on the video.
there are a few more features than the colors and FM- I was very happy with it
Add another 40 channels and 50 watts (legally) out.
Fun fact: the Stryker you just got also has the option to turn off certain channels when you’re scanning. I believe it is explained in the manual on how to do this.
thanks for sharing that=
Great video! Been waiting on this radio. Been wanting a McKinley for a couple of years. Surprised you have this video this weekend. Thought you might be at Ham Fest in Shelby this weekend. Thanks again for what you do.
I spent the whole day there! Love that place. I edited this one and posted it while I was away.
Awsome Eric, looking forward to the review. Have an awsome weekend
Safe travels
Headed to Shelby Ham fest!
God is good that's an awesome radio. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks for watching
Hi Eric,
Great to see you have the McKinley II. I have been waiting for Uniden to re-do the 980 to add FM. I think I will have to buy the McKinley II. Thanks for the video. Hope all is well with you and your family there. 73 from Mount Hood, OR
You will love it. I have the 980 and this is a huge leap in technology. I used to live in Springfield OR, loved the state!
@@FarpointFarms
You and your XYL should come back and visit sometime. I was raised in Eugene. Now live at the base of Mount Hood.
Eric….well, I don’t have the Mc Kinley 2. But I do have the McKinley 1 am and ssb only. It is a great performer. I always prefer the round metal microphone connector as opposed to the plastic RJ-45 8 pin modular. On the Nissan Xtera their is a tray on top of the dashboard. Here is where it have the McKinley mounted. And the front firing speaker is an awesome must. Having the speaker in front of you gives you the best clarity. The compact size makes idea for mounting on top of the dashboard. Please keep those videos coming. I have watched every one of your videos, AWESOME!
Mark
Will do. Thanks!
I picked up that same Stereo Mixing Console you have in the upper left hand corner at a Ham-Fest In Peatone IL for $20, brand new never opened in the box from Radio Shack. It was so old I had to take it apart to spray some Deoxit D5 on the knobs so they would turn. It works well for a old mixer. I keep it on my shelf like you do for looks and a conversation piece. P.S. In the box! Cat. No. 32-1200c
This one is still working as well. I used it as a mixer board for my part 15 radio station/Shoutcast station, but have since moved on to a computer connected unit.
I had an original President McKinley (early 1980's)- it was a fine radio. I continue to use our President Washington base and Uniden Pro 640e for mobile.
I had a Washington base station for the longest time- It was great
I have a President Jackson mobile, and my original base, my old friend, the Realistic Navaho TRC-490 (chipped for extra channels, and clarifier strapped)
Well that looks like a fine rig, ive been looking at that one, i think it would be perfect for my needs. Thanks for a nice demo.
This one is a great radio- It checks lots of the important boxes
Very cool President raido keeps making fresh new stuff, and not the same old stuff over and over, was very suprised there was no heat sink, still a nice Din radio indeed.
Me too. President has been invested in giving us the radios we want for years now.
I’m giddy, I’m an old CBer from the 70s been waiting for this radio with upper/ lower sideband with FM before I jumped back into the hobby, welp it’s here, thx for this video bud!
Thanks for watching
Funny you’re replacing your 980 with this, I’m running a 980 in one of my trucks and I’m swiping one of these up for my other.
I don’t use CB often but they’ve saved my backside a few times so I elect to always have one.
Thanks for the hands on look!
You're welcome, the last road trip we took, we needed the CB for a major traffic situation.
Before i made my ham radio licence, i bought a President Grant II and later a President Lincoln II Plus. Both great radios.
Still love CB, but with all the other bands in ham radio you enter a facinating new world. ;)
Ham and CB both have a place at the table. Love all things radio!
Nice rig! Also saw the old RS audio mixer on the shelf. I had the same one years ago! 73 de Chris K2CJB
I used that for radio shows back in the day.
Great video. I have been waiting a long time for all these features to come together in one radio. I had everyone recommend the Anytone-6666 while I was waiting, but I plan on getting my ham license in the near future, don't want to risk messing with the FCC even though the risk is slim to none. I plan on picking up 2 of these for a mobile and base station as soon as they are more readily available.
You won't be disapointed!
a666 or a crt6900 is much better. has 26mHz+28. the rest of the world has had fm since Adam was a lad!
I’ve owned Uniden, Galaxy and President radios…The best & what I currently use for a mobile radio is the Anytone 6666. It’s great for 11 & 10m. (Yes, I know you need a license for 10m) I’ve talked as far as England & Jamaica on just a mag-mount. (Try a Hamstick for 10m…they can be tuned)
I can appreciate the skip scan. Where I'm at in Kentucky, I'd skip channel 9 as well as 6 and 11. There's usually people speaking Spanish. They probably couldn't hang on channel 6 but they definitely use amplifiers.
That is a really great feature, I am glad they included it
I don't know WTF this spanish talking on CB is about. And Yes! They use Power and completely hog Ch 9. Yesterday I pulled out my old Radio Shack CB. Old, but 40 channels. I just ordered this radio last nite.
Now, I would guess, one should pull over and stop to try and do some of these function…..ha, you started explaining this thought issue, as I ranted……Thanks. Fantastic technology, beats my old Tram, in that regard. 👍🏻👍🏻
Yup. 90% of this stuff is set it and forget it. the rest is easy to get to.
I don't want to wait any longer! I bought my current McKinley off your recommendation and this seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. AM, FM, SSB all in one unit, and if I can permanently skip CH6 in my scan, I'll order two!
Man that Skip scan is a life changer!!
must not have the watts to talk on channel 6 or 11
@@mr.stonerUDX714 must not have the watts to spam on channel 6 or 11. there i fixed it for you
What’s the deal with channel 6 or 11? Why’s they gotta get skipped?
@@gmeister03people refer to those channels as the “superbowl” channels. Listen to them for just a bit and you’ll understand why people skip them. But basically it’s cause the stuff people say on there is pure silliness, all being broadcasted with so much power that it can be heard over very long distances, and they walk all over each other when they key up. One person can be talking and someone else keys in and overpowers them and begins talking. Sometimes they bleed over onto adjacent channels. Lately channel 9 has become like that too, only in spanish instead of english.
I’ve watched numerous videos on this radio, and they were all favorable. I needed another radio with sideband and considered buying a classic model or trying this new model. If we want companies to continue to make these more advanced products, like you said, we need to support them, so I went ahead and ordered one a little bit ago. I intend to use it primarily as a base unit but I’ll probably take it to town every so often. President seems to have a pretty good lineup of radios.
You will love it! President really has upped the CB game here in the past few years.
@@FarpointFarms Are all of you guys using amps? Is that why so many people buy these low-wattage radios?
I started watching your videos a few weeks back to learn more about cb radios after buying a mid 70s kinghood cb at a local tag sale. Put it in my truck along with a 4 foot firefly bolted to the front fender. The mic circuit stopped working, so all I can do is listen in. Driving to work in the mornings I can hear all the local truckers making noise on 17 and 19. But, when I'm parked out in front of my house I can hear guys skip talking on the upper channels. Seems like a little before sunset the upper cb channels light up with all the people trying to make long distance contact. Dropping a comment in on this video because I couldn't help but notice the 9 inch Apple green screen monitor up in the top left. I have the same one here at home along with the matching and fully functional Apple IIc computer. I keep it packed away, and on special occasions it comes out to run some of the vintage floppy games. I've always been into old electronics, now I'm getting into cb. Love the videos. Maybe one day I'll catch you on a skip signal when the new cb arrives.
Very cool! I use this one with a modified Timex Sinclair 1000. I had a Laser 128 (Apple 2c clone) for years though.
Cool radio. I was always a fan of President.
This is their best of the best for sure.
Thanks for the review. I stopped the video halfway through and ordered one even though I ordered a Uniden 885 yesterday. Will add a Stryker once I figure out their model line up. I’m finding Galaxy models to be confusing also. I’m a Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator and am sick of so many of us having crap systems and not knowing enough to help. I’m getting several different radios and antennas to test and educating myself on how to set them up properly.
Good choice! You will Love it!
Glad to see it finally came out. Now I can finally get one to use at the house.
It is literally the perfect base station!
Lookin forward to future videos of the McKinley & your Stryker.
I bought one with tune up option custom mounted in a 2004 dodge ram 1500 in the cubby (looks factory) ,I had to relocate the antenna connector to the top of the case to clear the clear the dash plastic (heater stuff is right behind the inside still fussing with antenna's wanted duals put side mount connectors in the lower right and left rear of the cab an inch above the stake holes, just ordered dual hq27-b hustlers, love the video yes 6 and 11 a pain in jersey as well...
Sounds like a great radio!
Just scored a NIB McKinley 2 AM/FM for $149 on eBay. Great radio! A lot more manageable in my small car than the President George. Thanks for the great review.
Great radio for sure!!
Hows that new Stryker workin out for you Erik?, it'll be great to hear your first operation review of the transiever!🤠👍
Love that thing!
Yup, gonna have to suggest this to a few buddies who want into the CB life! Not to take away from this at all, but I wonder if Uniden will also make a revamped 880/885/980 to include FM mode...
Uniden is the only company that refuses to work or speak with me. I'd say that says all you need to know about their interest in CB.
They (Uniden) still won't even agnowledge that they have a problem with the display on the 980, so good luck with that.
I’ve been wanting to add a “CB” to my radio room I think this is the one I’ve been waiting for.
You will love it!
I got my President McKinley about a week ago and still working on getting to know it. Thanks for the vid. So far I’m impressed and look forward to competing the permanent installation in my pickup truck. One disappointing thing at the moment is that I have a bad alternator noise that I haven’t had on 2 other radios in the same truck. I’m hopeful that tomorrow I’ll be able to get wired directly to the battery and that takes care of the noise. One thing I don’t like about CB in general is how many people with illegal power from several states away are jamming channels, even 19. Just not the CB I remember.
It's is more sensitive than my Uniden 980. Try adding a RF choke to the power cord. That helped mine.
I got back into cb after 25 years. I prefer it over ham radio. It’s simple technology that’s extremely reliable.
The simplicity is why it remains the dominate radio choice. CB is simple and fun to use.
I live in MA. Cb can be quiet where I am. Still very reliable. I like gmrs too, but on the road cb is the way to go. Gmrs is good for theme parks, skiing etc.
Hi Eric. Do you have an email? Would love to talk CB with you. Also any websites to see where CB is most active by state?
Ham radio is in trouble in Central Ohio, 98% dead. 😢
The problem with cb is the fcc’s 4w limit
President Electronics do make great radios, my first generation Lincoln and George still works great to this day.
I have been a fan for a long time
Me too.
I have a General Lee that gets out louder and further than any Galaxy 99
Thanks for the review on this radio. Tell President you sold another one. I'm on a wait list actually.
I don't get commission from them on sales, maybe I should ask
President makes a nice product… I enjoyed my Lincoln II+ until I stepped into Stryker. Keep up the great reviews!!
They certainly seem to have the CB market cornered!
I have a modified D104 on my 955 and open modulation. I've made contacts from Hawaii to Germany 10 & 11 meters with a Penetrator 500 50ft in the air! In South Jersey... (yes, I hold a general class license LOL) @@FarpointFarms
Thanks for the video! Been watching your vids to see what I should get and this looks pretty good. How do you feel about it now after a few months? When it popped up on Amazon there were only a few reviews. What might be a good antenna match? Newbie here and figured this could be good for car and home as the need calls for.
Love it! It's my new base station and I have made many contacts. I have it hooked to a max2000.
Maybe I am simply being juvenile in my likes and opinions of the many CB radios, of which many I Iike, but the export Stryker 955 (which is not technically a CB radio) is absolutely my favorite! The higher end Rangers are my next picks. The Stryker 955 just floods me with...joy and happiness...
It is ok to be a kid in a candy shop- The Stryker does have some great features,
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Yaaas! The one that rules them all! I have mine on order
Awesome- I hope you enjoy it
@FarpointFarms I'm tempted to put the old one in my car and retire my Johnny III except I'd have to mount it sideways. I'd love for President to come up with a Johnny IiI with Mckinley II guts.
I still remember my CB license number! KPC2122.
Lol...I do as KCL7790
I missed that era, but not by much!
Damn Kids! Thanks for the videos!
Looks nice thinking of getting a power supply making a base sration😊
Not a bad idea
Thanks for the video! I understand that the older version required a circuit modification for the clarifier to work properly. Does this new version still require this modification?
Both my McKinley's work fine without any mods.
a dumb question from a newbie (but would appreciate ur comments); when u made ur mic selection in the menu, u chose electric instead of
dynamic; what would u choose if u had a power mic? What's the difference between those 2 choices? Thanks very much
Both will work, but the supplied mic is electric.
Great lil rigs. It has marine radio vibes with the frontfire speaker, so one less wire to haggle, besides the mass of features. The hard part, which in the collection becomes handoffable.
By seeing the greenscreen computer and possibly one of those T.I. Home Computer that used cassette tapes, it may take a while.
73's, and Y.T. CBer's gotta pick an 11 meter FM simplex channel.
Old school cool is rocking in the background!

Great Idea. I'll do it!@@ERICtheLATE
@@FarpointFarms Cool, no pressure!!!
Aww man! I just bought a new McKinley last week! I would have waited a week or two if I had known this was coming out.
Sorry!
You're not alone: Got a Cobra 29LX some time back -- AM only. The very next month they added FM to that model! Sometimes you do NOT get lucky, but then we can't know what the maker is going to do next so we just have to take our chances. Still, I didn't want to repeat THAT experience with the McKinley, so I've been waiting for FM to be added to it and now it has.
Already have the President Bill II radio in my Jeep as it has AM and FM. AND, it's so tiny it fits anywhere easily.
-- BR
I ordered a McKinley wanting FM too early and had to send it back and wait a week too. Hopefully others will get on the bandwagon and make FM come alive.
@@dguiley I try not to send anything back. But IIRC, I had it for 4-5 weeks when I saw the new Cobra 29LXs came with FM. So I thought I'd keep my AM-only and use it in some other capacity -- or as a backup in an emergency if my other 2 radios failed.
Or, since the Cobra has such a nice/colorful dial...I could use it as a night light? A bonus would be I could adjust the static/noise level perfectly, so I'd have White Noise to help me sleep.
So I guess the old saying is true: "Every dark cloud has a silver lining." ;-)
-- BR
Cool video!! I like the opening and showing of all the function!! FCC License?? KJV-4710!!!
Thanks! Didn't see you at Shelby. It was a great day!
Great video ! Thank you sir. My apologies but did you discuss output on am and ssb? Please let me know what you came up with. Also, do you have any thoughts on where one can get one in the USA?
This would be 4 watts AM/FM and 12 watts SSB. Contact President for retailers.
like the new "studio" nice work!
Thanks! We put a lot of effort into making it look good on film. I think we nailed it!
I still miss my President AR7 and Signal Kicker in my 1981 Plymouth Champ! Getting old, bummer!
Sounds like a great setup
@@FarpointFarms A footwarmer under the front passenger seat...50w.....not too hot. 🤣
It’s interesting that they have the ANL as a feature that can be disabled. Most President radios have ANL as an always on feature, as listed in the owner’s manuals.
If the car is stopped and turned off, turning off ANL and NB can really help with the faint signals.
President stepping up their sticker game!
I know right-
How easy is it to expand? Hopefully they will bring an export version out for the UK
No Idea. I like my radios stock.
Yes FM and scan skip are the only new features also the colors but I wish they would of put the heat sink on the radio like that's have on the EU version
I do like the heat sinks- especially if I am going to be using the radio for a while
Funny thing is I've had all that from my President Lincoln II+ and a 1k ohm resistor for years.
OK.
Same here 😂
No you didnt. Didnt have scan skip or weather alerts.
You can keep these new radios. I'm very old-school with my radio. I just got a snake 19x from early 80's
I do love older radios but scan is now a needed part of the CB radio experience.
Nice rig ! Can't wait to get one . Wonder if President will make a handheld with the same capabilities ?
Now that would be very cool!

the reason he doesnt like channel 6 or channel 11 is he doesnt have the watts to talk on these channels thats what we call mudduck operator great great review on this radio very detailed going to get one for the collection from truck cb sales!!
I run stock, so you are correct!
Going to buy this radio for our toy hauler. Would it be possible to use the speaker out port to plug this unit directly into our Sony's stereo front AUX plug in (Mini stereo plug)? Then we could listen to the CB using the trailers outdoor speakers... Thanks .
Yes, That works.

Excellent video Fred :) roughly what price those go for and those radio be open for frequency for 26.000 mhz to 28.000 mhz and open Clarifier too!
Thanks for the info! I think the radio is $200 ish- don't quote me on that one as prices change so fast now a days
I'm still using the "1st" McKinley & of course, it's a great radio; after ur review of the new, updated version, I'll prbly end up with that one, too, LOL; but I was curious abt one thing, however, wondered how long it's taken u (or s-t-i-l-l taking u) to get comfortable with all of the menu functions on the McKinley? I always rembr the basic ones, but I still find myself, many months later, still needing to refer back to the Owner's Manual for those functions not routinely used☹️What abt urself, now easy, still learning or what?🤔Thanx & love ur channel!😃🇺🇸
I tend to set this thing up, and then never mess with 90% of it again. Mode, scan, (Now skip scan) ASC, and ANL/NB are the ones that matter and Those have dedicated buttons. Color change the screen from time to time and yes, I have forgotten and had to look up my own video to remember!
Set up a cheat sheet and practice every other night for two weeks and you'll have it forever.
Wait ... The European version is really different... there is even a radiator at the back, to cool the device.
There are a lot of discussions about this CB, with complaints, following high operating temperatures.
Not to mention the fact that the real power is lower than that announced (some have opened to correct the problem)... and it would go down even more when heated.
The European version did have the FM first, it took a while for the US to get it. It must have gotten pretty hot to warrant a radiator in the back
How do youhook it up at home. And what to do if there is no electricity.???Neat cb radio.
I have made a ton of videos that cover all of this- check them out- Too much to type out and make sense
sweeet.
Now can we get a HF (155mhz) scanner built in? Be nice to have a police scanner too.
Probably add a ton of cost thought.
I am sure that the cost would not be worth it- Good Idea though
The Anytone Ares ll has a VHF receiver that you can program from a computer!
I have the first McKinley do you think it’s worth upgrading? Also, have you ever dabbled in gmrs? It seems like a good middle ground between ham and cb you get lots of power and channels no testing just a 35 dollar licensing fee I’m contemplating going down that road next but not sure.
If your area is into FM, then yes. If not, maybe skip it. GMRS is fun, but in my area the only people that use it are workers and skiers.
I landed myself the McKinley II FCC, and it is a great radio, but I will be the first to say I HATE the default mic because of its light weight. It is entirely psychological I know but having a heftier mic in hand on a mobile just feels better to use.
No shame is not liking the weight, I agree that a heaver item can mean better
Complete radio! Hey how is the VW camper coming along?
Slow but steady on the BUS. It needed a lot more than we had hoped, but it's still happening.
I got the MCKINLEY II FCC for Christmas. I like it! However, I get some annoying engine whine in my Toyota Tacoma. My President Taylor FCC did not have this issue. Any suggestions as how to remedy this would be appreciated. Thanks
Look up Ferrite Coil, it can help reduce the interference.
Thank ya for your quick response. I’ve tried everything else to no avail. I see Amazon has them & they don’t cost much. I’ll order some today and I’ll report back, hopefully with positive results.
The reason it's a "Limited Edition" is because they're only making around 5000 of those radios because they're also coming out with the George FCC version for the USA and Canada which was just announced today October 28, 2023!
Wow! Sounds cool. A new SSB/FM radio from President.
@@FarpointFarms Yep, probably spring or early summer next year. They're in progress of production now as the European version is selling big over in Europe so the FCC version is following up real close.
God what is it another 40channel fcc job get the EU version this fcc job has nothing compared to EU
like it and front speaker like that very much
For CB radios, this is the current king of the road.
Nice radio one these days we’re gonna have to go on FM pick a channel and said we can talk to each other I go by shep on sideband I go bye shepfc1 just a regular channel I go by shep I live in Indiana 10 miles away from Crawfordsville 20 35 miles to Indianapolis I haven’t seen your channel for a long time finally got it again I forgot your CV handle
My handle is Farpoint Farms now. Used to go by Northstar, but since everyone knows me by this channel it just made sense to change it.
I often listen to LSB on CH 38, 39, 40 , I wonder how many people are doing legal wattage 12 watts ? they sound more like 100 watts plus to me.
Most do the legal limits, but there are a few that like to run it really hot
I will take the Stryker! 😀
Deal!
Cool vid! Did you open the covers? Wondering if the board is the same as the older version.
Thanks- I did not open it, I want to use it as intended
@@FarpointFarms well….ya. Just to see how the board is for tuning/alignment purposes.
Erik, I’m trying to decide between the Stryker SR-955HP or the President Mc Kinley II FCC as a base station. Which one would you prefer and why? I see there is about $400 cost difference, with the President being less expensive. I want to buy the radio that will serve me the best in the long run.
Stryker is an export radio so it is different than the President. Hard to say what is better for your needs
President McKinley very good radio
I agree
I'm trying to get a cb going in my car but all i get is static and random bits of conversations but hard to make out through the static could it be my antenna its like 18ins
A good antenna that is setup right is SO much more important than a fancy radio. I'd focus on the antenna.
Eric....What's the difference between the McKinley 600 and McKinley II 610 ? The 610 is over $200 and the 600 is $170. Both radios do basically the same.
The 610 has FM
Is this a "new" McKinley or have President finally released the same radio that Europe has had for the past few years?
What channels are you going to use for FM?
It is different from that - the programing for the US version is different-
Got mine today. SWR readings on the internal meter are quite jumpy. More stable with an external SWR meter. Can't decide which ones to trust. Any suggestions anyone?
I always go with an external analog SWR.
i thought Lincoln II+ v4 was the holy grail AM/FM/SSB radio, no?
It's a 10 Meter Ham radio where this one is a genuine CB radio.
How do u add more channels such as the free band 27.555 MHz to this model or I need to get a euro model one
I don't work on radios, so I have no idea. Sorry!
I have attempted many times to see if we could converse on CH. 14. No success even for your other locals it seems transmitting from the gulf coast of Florida here. And yes, usually an impossibility from here to there however, gotta try with these sun cycles. Other QSO's recently have been from south of those mountains. Grats on this radio, and I can see the excitement. Personally running a Lincoln II+ V4 and also have a President Jackson export (old school) setup for backup (after fixing the SSB receive issue and "locking" the clarifier. Sometimes old school was better? Never understood why there would be a function to tune in someone else's transmit frequency if you didn't have the ability to match your transmit freq to them from your station. (VFO, ammi right?) Just for reference, sometimes the old Turner and (hate to say it) Astatic mics still kick ass over the new stuff. Keep doing your thing Farpoint Farms. Maybe someday we will chat on the air. Conditions have been crazy lately. Somedays not a peep local or distant, and other days all 40 channels are packed.
I’m anxious for the new President George II to come out I see some trials in uk but and available in October but wonder when we can acquire this or is it more so unobtainium
I don't think its available here yet.
@@FarpointFarms no I see possibly by or around November? 🤷🏼♂️ it’s low production in UK right now probably as a trial market before releasing to the big market. It’s a nice looking sharp sounding and working machine what I have found so far. Many Ham guys are doing trials of it it seems
Hello Eric, I found you doing a search for CBs and like what you have to say. This President radio looks, as far as I know, like what I would expect. I can be considered a pre-preschooler on CBs.
I need something for emergency purposes, ie. EMP. My children live 90-100 miles away and I want to be able to communicate with they if the time ever comes. After all Maui has come knocking on a lot of our doors. My son-in-law grew up in Hawaii and his parents are still there. So I would have mor peace knowing I can contact them if it ever came to any emergency.
One catch. I have a budget so if I wanted to have something similar to the President but maybe the previous model or so depending on the cost. Also it needs to be something we wouldn't need a license
Have your heard of the National emergency drill on October 4th 2:20 EST? I would like to be ready for that if they turn everything off.
Your demonstration is create and it would be even better if I had knowledge of what you're talking about.
EMP issues scare me to no end. I built a EMP proof box to hold some of my equipment, but I fear in the end, it will not really matter.
How much does that radio cost? Of course I probably paid quite a bit more for my Yaesu 991a than you paid for the McKinley II. I spent nearly 2 grand on the radio and power supply. I got a 30 amp linear supply. I also had the MARS mod done so I could use it on 11 meters as I do still enjoy QSO's on the CB band. Cheers & 73 from K9POW in eastern TN
it is hard to say on prices now- with inflation what I paid and what it is now- might be different
Can this be turned into a wide band radio ? That would be the frosting on the cake . unit 21 ch 23 AM
Wide band? On CB?
Hello Eric, I just connected my new President McKinley SSB radio. I've noticed that the automatic squelch control (ASC) will only work on AM and not on USB or LSB. Is that right or is there something wrong with the radio? Thanks!
That is correct. Most ssb contacts are faint and just above the noise floor.
@@FarpointFarms Thanks!
Very cute of America to name it's Presidents after CB radios
I know right, that is pretty cool :)
Does fm have a sideband separate from am ?
No, SSB is AM mode only.
I’ve had one for a few years, I bought one from England and the frequency range is 10, 11, and 12 meters. Too bad the one for the USA can’t be modified.
I love it for what it is. The BEST CB radio on the market.
