- Cobra's great one hander the 75 finally got some love! This all new 75 All road has AM and FM modes, lots of nice noise reduction features, and best of all? It's wireless! Yup, you can place the main unit in the trunk and have the mic plugged into any USB device to power it up. Can you say GAME CHANGER?
I installed it in the Mirage a few weeks back and I love it! I paired it with A Cobra A1500 Antenna and I've been able to make a few skip contacts with it as well. Very nice!!

I bought one of these as soon a I was made aware of the new version. I am a ham who still sees the benefit of CB Radio. While not a truck driver I am on the road a lot in business; 30-35K miles a year. I find CB much better at staying up with road conditions, etc. That being said, I like this radio, it performs well, the SWR meter is very good so antenna setup was very easy and accurate when tested against a traditional SWR meter. Space for radios in the passenger section of my car is very limited. My mobile ham radios all have remote heads and with this radio's configuration, the transmitter unit can go in the truck with my ham radios (and the battery is back there too which makes powering and grounding a breeze). It is exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend this radio, especially if space is at a premium in your vehicle. 73's to all.
Thanks for sharing that, I am sure it will help people decide if to get one
Who could have imagined in the 70's what CB radio technology would be like in 2023. Also ! I just retired from Mitsubishi who's QC is not matched in the auto industry. Believe it or not our biggest customer is GM . Mitsubishi parts are used by 6 or 7 auto manufacturers. Hope your Mirage last for many years. Thanks for your great channel!!!
I have never been disappointed in a Mitsubishi! Love out Outlander and Mirages.
I had a Mitsubishi Cordia and a Mighty Max back in the 80s
I thought it might be a bit cheaper but in these times its not surprising cant wait to see the range tests!😊
With Hyper inflation? Next year these will cost 1.2 trillion.
Range has more to do with antenna and ground plane. Would like to see if it really puts out 4 watts
The USB is great. I want one. It sure makes modern car installation easier. Thanks for the review.
It sure makes install easy!
Looks like a cool radio!! Keep up the good work!! It's finally starting to cool off here. Can start my little projects soon.😊😊😊😊
This weekend is a relax weekend for me. Lots of rain the next two days.
I just ordered this Cobra 75 All Road CB Radio based on this review. I wanted a CB that's easy to install in my '17 Mustang GT for Interstate driving. The Bluetooth feature was the deal maker. I also ordered the Cobra HGA 1500 36 Inch Magnetic Mount CB Antenna. I will mount the "black box" in the trunk with easy access to the antenna wiring... PERFECT! Thanks for the info.
You'll love it!
HAM radio youtuber KC9CUK tested out this CB rig and the Bluetooth connectivity allows the handset & control box to be as far as 200ft apart thus you could improvise a rudimentary base station. Simply power the handset with a USB power bank and set up shop in home, office or hotel room that's not too far away from car/truck (& control box, antenna etc). Just be sure not to run down car battery overnight!
Running the battery down would be a bummer for sure. Thanks for sharing what he did
I actually like the weather alert on my CB. Had it go off on me one day and let me know of potential tornadoes coming and I was able to alert my family by phone after that. Yes, it is a scary thing when it happens but I’d rather have it on than off.
Around here we get storms, but no tornadoes. The two times it's gone off nearly caused me to wreck!
I have a President McKinley with a weather alert also. That alert was very accurate scared the crap out. It alerted me of a tornado and hail storm and I was able to take cover before I drove into it.
This is so very cool! Thanks for this….I am still swooning over the Stryker you reviewed…would love to have that as a base, but it would also tempt me to get a HAM license.
These are good problems to have my friend!
I am glad I watched this I didn't know about FM being allowed now. What little I read the opened it up in 2021.
Yup! It's been a little slow to catch on, but more and more are playing with it.
There has been a pic of this rig on the floor of the truck stop for months, maybe over a year, first proof of existence HERE. Constant swr monitor is a good feature off the bat. They never have the 3' patch coax in stock, but a stack on the pegboard hook of swr meters.
It's also very accurate. I tested it against 2 older analog SWR meters and it's spot on.
I like it. I have to get one now. Thanks Eric.
You will love it!
That definitely seems to be an interesting little radio. Like the FM ability, and am going to assume since it’s Bluetooth that you can sync it up to your head unit and hear it through the car speakers. That would really be nice. Thanks for the video.
I'm very happy with it!
I think the Bluetooth is more for headset pairing… Blue Parrot and the like.
I’m finishing up the installation of mine today, hopefully. Bought this radio specifically because the black box is separate from the mic and can be located closer to the antenna. I didn’t want to deal running coax through the body and interior of my pickup truck so I’m locating the black box inside the bed and the antenna is mounted to my cap. Need to buy a few more connectors and mount things today. The only concern is that the last day or so my handset has been temporarily losing its connection to the base even though it’s physically plugged into it right now. Definitely don’t want to have syncing issues once they’re separated. Otherwise I’m still playing and learning, but definitely like it. I’ll be interested to see your range test results. I’ve installed a President McKinley II in my other pickup and will be interesting to compare/contrast the two.
One question about FM tho. Can I use (transmit) FM mode if the other persons around me don’t?
FM mode only works with other radios also using FM. That said, FM mode is becoming more popular!
Great video I can’t find part two can you please send it love you channel. Thank you for your time and education.
Still working on that one- sorry for the delay but life keeps getting in the way
Soungs good thanks.
Thanks for the excellent review for the new Cobra 75 All Road. I'm really interested to see how the radio was installed in your vehicle. If/when you do a part 2 video can you please show how you installed the black box unit and where did you connect the handset for power through the USB connector. Thanks again...
I tucked the box under the seat and plugged it into the USB that comes with the car. Really simple
I order it before your video come out but I bought it to put on my can am Spyder motorcycle I think it will work well and I liked that it is waterproof.
So far I am really enjoying it.
I just bought the uniden bear tracker 885. I love it CB with scanner.
I've never owned one of those, but I hear they are nice.
Always give you a shout when passing through NC. Haven’t heard you yet. Prez McKinley with 5 ft fire stick picks up everything. Not sure about the tx though.
Maybe I can catch you one day
This looks like a promising radio for the CB realm. I do like the nostalgia of the older style CBs, but you have to either be an electrician or know one to get the most use out of the older ones
Agreed. The older radios are cool, but many are getting so old, they need work.
@@FarpointFarms do you happen to have ever tried having CB and GMRS on the same vehicle? Just how many different bands can I operate from 1 vehicle? Lol
Just got mine today. Don't know if I'll go bluetooth or not.I'm very close to a couple highways 101 and 92 right now so traffic will be bringing me traffic.
I hope you can hear some great stuff
After watching your great video, you have sparked an interest in CB radio with me again. It appears you and I are approximately in the same area. I have old CB's sitting in a box, and apparently none of them are working. Would you happen to know of a good CB repair shop in our areas? I would look forward to getting on the air again.
I think there is one in Asheville that might be able
thank you, I will attempt to put out some feelers @@FarpointFarms
Nice handheld radio!
It sure is! The "One Hander" has returned!
Very nice radio. I like the mike.
It is a great mike- it is easy to use
My Questions are I wonder after the Battery 🔋 or Batteries Stop working how hard it will be to replace? And Eventually will it be a problem peaking the Radio to get a few more Watts out of it.
No battery. It's powered off USB.
@@FarpointFarms nothing for memory?
Kinda doubt there is any way to peak & tune, there are no pots to adjust
Im pick that up. Thanks for explaining everything on your channel. What antenna would you recomend for my 2019 suburban? Dont really want it super long since im 90% always in the city. Just for trips and hunting. Thanks.
The president new Virginia might be a good option. it has a small profile so it blends in
Seems to me that most u s b connectors aren't really designed to have a big heavy cable hanging on them. I'm wondering how that connection will hold up, especially if people leave it plugged in a lot rather than just having the cord dangling around.
you make a great point, I guess I will have to be careful with mine
So do you need the small box?? If so, what's it's purpose??? I'd love one of these for my Jeep, but don't want to have to deal with the firewall to wire to the engine bay/battery area.
Wow... so stupid question time: what's squelch and what does it do? Why do you mention channels 9 and 19? Man .. I guess I need a YT channel on CB Radio's for n00bs...
Your on the right channel for newbs. Yes, you'll need the box. It is the go between from the hand held part and the antenna and power portion. Channel 9 used to be the emergency station, but it's been abandoned in most of the USA. 19 is the highway station. Truckers gather here to talk and share road reports.
Would you recommend this radio over the Uniden CMX760 Bearcat? Thank you.
Well, I haven't owned that one so it's hard to make that call, but I am still very pleased with this one for sure!
@@FarpointFarms thank you.
Great video. I have a question, I did install this rig on my Jeep and everything is great with the exception of when I PTT can hear myself on the Jeep speakers. I installed an off market car stereo that works with my phone Bluetooth I thought was because my phone connection but that’s not the case. Any idea what can be the problem?
I'd guess the CB antenna is placed too close to the car stereo.
@@FarpointFarms
Thank you for replay !
No is all on the back, a friend told me may be because I’m power it up from the lighter and that’s why getting RF. I’m supposed going straight from battery but just want to go on air and did it from there temporary. I’ll going direct battery soon.
How well would this hold up to the cold if I mounted it outside of the cab?
They are designed to be used in cars, so I'd say no issues.
This could be my next purchase.
You wont be disapointed!
So... what can the bluetooth connect to? Can i us3 a helmet bluetooth?
I am not 100% sure, sorry
A good video might be a comparison of the cobra 75 to the radioddity cs-47 for range tests and audio.
Not a bad idea!
I'm on my second radioddity cs47. First one no transmit/ receive sent it back I got the replacement.
So far transmit is very weak, receive is eh.
If I take it out of the car and reinstall my president Johnny 3 it works perfect.
So it's not the antenna. 40+ years running CB I have an idea how they work.
I will continue testing but it looks like so far the cs47 is not up to the task.
Which is why I've been a Cobra radio guy for over 30 years.
Right On 😊
It's in the Mirage now!
Is this available in the UK . I think it's just what I need I have no room for a proper CB and no room for wires
I am not sure if it is available there are not.
Thank you, I haven't found one yet I do hope we get it. Looks like just what I need
ssb added would have been awesome. Thats about the size of my Pres Bill ll FCC
I wonder if it's even possible to cram SSB into something this small.
Good question. id like to see tho. I know there were certain handhelds that were AM/Fm/ssb like the Albrecht Ae2990, and the magnum 1012. So i think its possible
This would work really well with my 2019 chevy Malibu.
I think so- Go for it
OK I'm lost lol so no antenna needed or will this work with my 102 wipe
It will work with the 102
is the fm gmrs?
No, AM/FM CB radio.
very nice compact unit probably have to mortgage the shack in the land of every thing cost twice as much canada
Inflation is getting out of control!
nice radio
It sure is! It is a great setup and is discrete
What's best magnetic base antenna I can use for this that's not more then say 30 dollars?
2 years ago there would have been at least 5 that were good and cheap. Now? I don't think any are less than $30. Hyper-inflation sucks. The Tram 300 is a great antenna, so is the Cobra HB1500, and President makes a nice one too.
@FarpointFarms I hope the hg a1500 is OK because that's what I bought lol. I should have checked back here.
Whats the song in the intro?
That's "The Official Farpoint Farms Theme Song".
Make a video on how to install cb at home.
I have made a ton of videos that cover all of this- check them out- Too much to type out and make sense
Looks nice, but I wouldn't use it mobile because, once you pick it up to make a change, you take your eyes off the road. There are enough crazy drivers out there and I don't want to be one of those, and cause or be in a accident. My opinion.
CB, compared to the dangers of Cell use is a minor hazard. Texting? Now that is a killer!
You are right and in a lot of states using cells while driving is illegal. My cell is in my pocket and I use Bluetooth for calls. Oh CB is minor because it is not as popular as cellphone the scourge of modern mankind. @@FarpointFarms
thanks
You're welcome!
If it had SSB, I might be interested.
I really wonder if they could even fit SSB into such a small radio.
Cherokee ah100 says yes they could
@@copenhagensnuffman1 Bell's CB shows it as being discontinued...
Look great
Thank you
Awesome keep it up
Thanks! I hope to be here in 20 years!
eBay is the place to find rare items like that
You can find lots of goodies on Ebay- lots of time I will research what I want then look there to find the best deals
I'm looking forward to more FM capable CB radios coming about. I have 2 cobra 29 LTDs with it so far, one in each truck. More radios with police scanner functions would be cool too, like the bear tracker that Uniden makes.
I'd love to see some new scanners with all the digital stuff added in. Little by little the stuff I have for scanning is going obsolete.
@@FarpointFarms What it comes doen to is fewer freqs to bother scanning, there are still a few solid ones. Unlocking the wx program list in the brain of a wx capable radio, would be the coolest new mod. There are usually 7 in the memory, and unless you truely drive coast to coast, you will only need and strongly recieve 2 of them, boop- 5 public service monitor freqs. May not scan them, but monitor with squelch is good stuff.
Some states prohibit the use of scanners in a vehicle. Kentucky, where I live, is one of them.
@@duanebledsoe7566 I was unaware of this. What a stupid tyrannical law. The police here in Kentucky must be hiding dirty secrets.
Same here
If you haven’t filmed your other part yet could you show setting up in the car with antenna. I’m a girl and very much a girl who needs stuff from the guy realm simplified.
I actually filmed a section where I show adjusting the antenna as well.
$200 seems quite high though.
Welcome to hyperinflation. Brought to you by 20 years of "Quantitive easing". We are all screwed.
@@FarpointFarms just glad they haven’t over priced the new am/fm president bill, the am/fm cobra 19 mini, those are still reasonable prices. And let’s be honest, that president is a much better radio and small enough to be in an inconspicuous position.
@@FarpointFarms Screw the radio. You sound like a gold standard, supply side libertarian. Tell me how you feel about Nancy Pelosi running again???
Dang it. I'm Busted! I grew up in a time where freedom was welcomed, All ideas had a place at the table and America Made stuff other than debt. @@2148aa
C.B.
Radio.
200 bucks LOL! Get a real CB radio, get a Galaxy!!
This one is pretty good
This thing is a piece of crap. It does not do the wireless part well or even at all. I installed the black box under the back seat of my 2024 AT4X and once paired to the mic it is supposed to stay paired but it does not and the only way to pair it is to plug the mic into the black box which is under the back seat and then replug it into the dash usb but even then once I turn the truck off and back on it unpairs and most times will not pair again without taking back to the box and plugging it in under the back seat. I put in a support ticket with Cobra and they have done nothing with it for the last three days So they are also as worthless as the 75 All Road. I bought it because it is wireless but if that does not work then I've wasted my money. Do not waste you're money on the pile of crap.
Sorry to hear that you had issues with it
