FYI, this radio does 60 watts output and has expanded coverage. To receive FCC type acceptance President left out the middle finale transistor and a small jumper wire on the board. Just install the missing final transistor and the missing jumper wire reset the radio. Then you will be all set. Really easy to do. That is the reason for the heavy heat sink this is a 60 watt radio. It is the same as the model sold in the UK and Europe. Just add the transistor and jumper wire. With installed missing jumper wire the frequency range is 26.60 MHZ- 28.760 MHZ, With 10 watts AM SSB. 60 watts FM with installed missing final transistor. This is a high powered version of the Miknelly. The circuit boards are slightly different.
@@Thunder-Hawk I opend the Lincoln II plus. You have more than just Band A then, but in any Band 40 Channels. Thank you for this great review! :) Now, how do you compare the new President George with the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB or President McKinley II? That would be interesting to know!
Hi Eric, I'm so happy my friend. I love this radio so much. This is the best CB radio ever in the US. AM/FM/ USB/LSB, DCS/CTCSS, Dual Watch, VHF 2 meter weather channels, Roger beep, VOX, 6 digit frequency counter, talk back, and ... It's WOW! THANK YOU President, you really remember the legal CB operators. We(the legal operators) have been waiting for a very long time to have a CB radio like this. Thanks for the video Farpoint Farm. Now we're waiting for SSB handheld from President.
Glad you enjoy it! I think President really listened to what people were asking for and it showed on this radio. I think having radios that have a good number of the features people want, will bring this hobby more life in 2024
@FarpointFarms you're 100% correct. We encourage every single CB operator to buy this radio, even buy two(2) if you can, and a third one for your grandchild. Why? The reason is that one day, this radio will be discontinued, you'll regret for not buying one at all, or have a second one as a back up and trust me, your grandchild will visit your place of rest with flowers to thank you for buying and leaving a brand new one in the shipping box for him/her. Am I going too far with this FarpointFarms?
@@Stan-um3ivNot at all! I wouldn't be surprised if someone who didn't get one someday finds themselves out on the street when it comes time for their kids to help them in their old age. It will be a harsh reminder of what they should have done.

I have the McKinley (before the one with FM) in my 18 wheeler. 2 features that are worth their weight are 1: the RF Gain. Listening to 19 I crank it down so the skip rolling is cranked to nothing. With ASC on I have close locals break the squelch only, no DX. That way the radio is mostly quiet. 2: weather alert. When monitoring my newly quiet CH 19 (thanks to the very underrated RF Gain) the weather radio continuously scans all 7 weather channels silently. If any one of the 7 channels sends a weather alert, it makes a loud siren sound and automatically brings up the alerting weather channel. It will even wake me up in the bunk! Since it scans all 7 channels you don't even have to select the correct weather channel. A very valuable feature on the go. It is a true set and forget feature! Great video. I only wish you demonstrated the RF gain feature. I crank it down to kill the DX garbage and back up at night when the skip dies.
Ha! I hear you on the weather alert. I accidently set mine up for that and was one day scared half out of my mind when it went off while I was working in the shop. SO LOUD!

Hello. I’m just needing some sort of radio I can listen to in emergencies. I’m old and by myself. I have plenty of practice with my guns, but realized quickly I have no way to get or give any information in case of something bad happening
Sold out at Walcott! That tells me that the public likes it, and that's good. ASC is the best squelch control I've ever used! Great radio that I'm putting on my wish list. Merry Christmas!
It puts out 60 watts with expended coverage. It is really simple to get it's full capabilities. Just install the two missing components and reset the radio.
I’ve got two Lincoln II+, yet I want one. Good reason for the coded tones is to lock out the riffraff like purposefully annoying local stations, and band noise from too many stations being on the same channel at one time. Love the looks. Looks like a Uniden 980 chassis with a President Walker 2/3 heatsink.
Glad President finally decided that American CBers have enough intelligence to use CTCSS. This is potentially a very useful feature when monitoring for people in your group during heavy skip or like noise. Do they give you the option to encode-only a CTCSS tone so you can monitor everything on the channel yet be heard by stations in your group who have their CTCSS decoder turned on? The nuisance channel delete while scanning is nice, too!
Can't really comment on the CTCSS mode as I found it to be the least used item on this CB. There just isn't enough traffic for there to be a need for it.
The Randy II is great. I live in South Florida and I'm able to talk to Puerto Rico on the skip. Also worked Michigan all from a HT and 51 inch telescopic antenna
Hey Eric there is a new king in town right, did you know the President George FCC is already dethroned by the President Washington! İ hope you will make a review about the President Washington!
I’m glad I held off on getting a McKinley II. I use the CTCSS & DCS tones on my FRS radios all the time. Don’t know if I’ll use on cb? This will complement my President Harrison, that will be here later this week.
My Thomas has served me well, but I’ve been wanting to upgrade to the Harrison for a while. I’m giving my Thomas to my friends son to put in his truck.
I was asking this of other content creators about this radio, but so far no response. You need to do a full video on the CTCSS/DCS (PL tones), on how they work and how to use them to their fullest potential. From what I understand they only work on the FM mode. I was told CTCSS is primarily use for access to repeater operations such as on Amateur Radio and GMRS whereas DCS apparently is more suited for simplex operations. But I believe CTCSS can be used for simplex as well. I know this would be a lengthy video if you and someone else in your family took part in any demonstration on this feature, but it would be worth it.
Oh wow, are there any features they didn’t add into it? I can’t think of anything else that I’d want to add to it. I think the orange screen was easiest to read from the camera though. Just yesterday as I got out of my truck at the store, a guy was sitting in his truck and asked me if CB was making a comeback. I told him there does seem to be a renewed and growing interest. He said he may have to dust his old CB off and put it back in his truck. I told him I hear a good bit of chatter almost every time I’m on the air. The cool part to me is that my radio made in 1980 can still communicate with a radio made today. Try that with your 43 yr old cell phone. Oh wait…
It looks like they put a lot of thought into this one. It doesn't seem like it was rushed just to get FM out on the market. Glad you mentioned that it felt kinda heavy. It's an indicator that they didn't cheap-out on materials.
@@FarpointFarms It is nice to have a large screen. The screen on my 2-meter is so small, I feel like pulling out a microscope just to see what frequency I'm on!
I’ve got a bad case of the wants for one of those, thanks to you. Are my eyes deceiving me or is that bottom row of buttons moving together when you touch (actuate) one. Could be the chrome reflection.
Looks like an interesting, versatile radio. Glad to see all mode, will be curious to see reviews down the road a bit as people start using it. Good demo of several key functions. I purchased an A-99 antenna, but haven't assembled or installed yet, do you have the ground plane kit on yours, and if so, did it make much difference? Thanks, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Hey that's good looking. It looks in the style of the bearcat 880 / 980. I had a president Ronald stolen out of my pickup a few years ago. I wasn't looking for a new radio cuz I have an old realistic I like that does the trick but I'm going to have to get a closer look at this George
Although this is a very impressive radio, I would prefer the McKinley 2 which also does FM because of the front firing speaker. Which I think is a very plus feature!
Eric on the digital signal you are picking up. I can think of two things that night be causing that. One would be the remote bbpl switching technology from your power company. Or a remote control link from your water department or sewer department. I am not sure what you can do about it. You may be able to install a filter for it. You could also check around you home by turning your power off and turning it back on one breaker at a time to see if you have an applience or wireless router in you home that is causing it. Some chinese manufactured wireless security cameras can cause it as well.
Haven’t even started using my McKinley II FCC because I wanted to get a President antenna for it first so today I ordered two President antennas and the President George FCC. I’m out of control!
Eric, remember all good things come in heavy packages, dude!😃Eric, I'm just a dumb old truck driver, do you think I can ever learn how to use this hi-tech radio. I worried that it will be to hard to learn.
can anyone use this radio or do you have to have any kind of license? i'm just starting to look into these things and i saw that it is a cb radio but also so much more.. thanks ...dave
Pretty awesome radio, you didn't mention power but I suppose its available on their website. Wasn't really looking for a new radio but this will be on the top of my wish list.
Just to be fair---the Anytone 6666 does all this with 60 watts out of the box (but it is a 10 meter radio that can be 're-banded'). It doesn't have CTCSS though. Great review here!
Seems like the only thing that could make this radio better would be if you could invert the screen. It would be so much less distracting if the writing were all that was lit up and the rest of the screen was dark.
The President George FCC CB radio looks like a souped-up Uniden 980SSB! Very tempted... but rarely use the CB radio(s) unless I need to. Nice to have when all else fails.
Excellent video Eric :) I like radio also be interesting if be modified for 5 A channels on 1 to 40 band plus higher channels above 40 and below channels 1 one and open Clarifier too when buy new too! Also one thing should see If USB port recharge battery on cellphone or Laptop or any electronics devices how long takes on mins to hour to then house way too! Plus Merry Christmas and Happy New New Year 2024 plus hope Santa Clause 🎅 brings you to lots of goodies to enjoy also and share to!
In the last 15 yrs as a regional truck driver in the Midwest and Great Lakes region, I've never been able to get a state highway patrol unit on channel 9...most states in this region post highway signs with a 3 digit number to call for certain events other than a 911 call.
I have a Uniden 980 in my Bronco. Just did a test with a buddy using my Handheld President Randy II. I left the driveway and drove to a gas station, talking every couple 10ths of a mile. Heard replies maybe the 1st min or 2 (maybe 2-3 10ths of a mile). The gas station is about 1.5 miles away. When I was almost back I could hear the replies to my markers, and was told I was heard all the way there & back just fine. I thought receiving was easier for a CB than transmitting ? I have a telescoping metal antenna on the handheld so I'm not sure what's the issue that needs addressing, help please !
Two problems. When Recieving. A lot can mess that up.A high noise floor from electrical stuff in the car. (Coils, poorly insulated ECM, even the dash lights) The other more likely issue is the Randy II has a very short antenna. It's great for camping, but not really good for anything longer than a mile in even the best conditions. While he may have heard you, the transmit range of that CB is limited by the height of the antenna and the design of the radio.
@@FarpointFarms ok & thank you. Wasn't the stock antenna on the Randy. I guess if nothing else, being in town I'll just be happy they could hear me the entire trip there & back. Also, no noticeable decline in audio the entire 2 mile trip there.
To any owners of this radio, is the display brighter than the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB? The Bearcat display easily washes out with just the slightest ambient light.
@@FarpointFarms I have the Uniden 980SSB CB radio, and I think what he is referring to concerning the brightness, if the Uniden 980SSB is inside your vehicle during bright sunlit days, the lit display of the Uniden 980SSB appears washed-out and illegible, or appears extremely dim. Customers of some Uniden 980SSB units also cited their displays became permanently dim. My Uniden 980SSB is now indoors as a base station. Since the Uniden 980SSB CB radio was/is very popular, and the problems with the display during bright sunlit days was also well known; I would readily guess this problem was likely a top concern for President's engineers. You can easily test this buy placing the radio within direct sunlight (eg. vehicle dashboard), with the display facing away from sunlight, or with the radio providing some shade over the display. If the display is still well lit, or legible, then his concern is not an issue.
Hello Eric. If you would, could you recommend a prepping radio suitable for a SHTF scenario? I have zero experience with radios and have been watching your videos. Just not sure what would work
Do you think this will have the same screen problems the 980 have if left in the car. My 880 had the screen problem after a little over a year. Or is this just a uniden problem
No it should not have any display issues as this radio was built from a totally different factory than the Uniden radio's. All new components and new board as this is not a Uniden built radio.
He didn’t mention what the usb feature is supposed to do . But if I could upgrade to a more useful unit , this is the radio to get . I’m a little disappointed there is no red lighting in the display . But I’ll work with it . There Walmarts in this county , but I’ve only been able to find one . Anyone know what they would be asking for it ?

I’ve got two Lincoln II+, yet I want one. Good reason for the coded tones is to lock out the riffraff like purposefully annoying local stations, and band noise from too many stations being on the same channel at one time.
Love the looks.
Looks like a Uniden 980 chassis with a President Walker 2/3 heatsink.
Agreed- Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Glad President finally decided that American CBers have enough intelligence to use CTCSS.
I love it, I want it and just got the President Randy II FCC. CB Base station 2024 on my list
I used my Randy II this past week on a road trip to pick up a new van.
I am game if they want to send it to me.
I stopped the video and placed an order. Looks awesome! The accessory may be the BT microphone?
Ha- I watched a video on a something and I did the same thing. My wife thought I was crazy for it.
I’m glad I held off on getting a McKinley II. I use the CTCSS & DCS tones on my FRS radios all the time. Don’t know if I’ll use on cb? This will complement my President Harrison, that will be here later this week.
I see that Santa is bringing you one
Those features are well outside my wheelhouse. I have no idea why people wanted them on a CB radio, but they got them!
Looks like an awesome base station radio!
It is all around great radio- President really hit the mark on this one
Oh wait…
Great point of the cell phones- they barely last a few years let alone, decades.
It looks like they put a lot of thought into this one. It doesn't seem like it was rushed just to get FM out on the market. Glad you mentioned that it felt kinda heavy. It's an indicator that they didn't cheap-out on materials.
It's certainly well laid out. I like that the screen is large on this one too.
@@FarpointFarms It is nice to have a large screen. The screen on my 2-meter is so small, I feel like pulling out a microscope just to see what frequency I'm on!
Lol- I can't see anymore even with my glasses on- Those small screens are for the younger generation
I’ve got a bad case of the wants for one of those, thanks to you.
Are my eyes deceiving me or is that bottom row of buttons moving together when you touch (actuate) one. Could be the chrome reflection.
I think it's the refection.
No ground plane on this- I think it is the higher elevation that helps
@@FarpointFarms Copy that. You do have an advantage there! Thanks.
Hey that's good looking. It looks in the style of the bearcat 880 / 980. I had a president Ronald stolen out of my pickup a few years ago. I wasn't looking for a new radio cuz I have an old realistic I like that does the trick but I'm going to have to get a closer look at this George
I hate people- stealing is so wrong-
Good morning, I would appreciate it if you could tell me if the frequencies can be opened, thank you
I have no idea about that. Sorry!
Although this is a very impressive radio, I would prefer the McKinley 2 which also does FM because of the front firing speaker. Which I think is a very plus feature!
I think they are the same radio except for the speaker. I prefer a front firing speaker to. They George puts out 60 watts with expanded coverage.
For a in dash install, I'd go with the McKinley. For a larger screen and a few added features, this new George is really a step up.
FYI - the display would have been easier to c ifn u would have:
1) turned down the brightness in Blue mode or,
2) selected Orange or Purple mode
It is hard to tell how it looks when I am filming- I will take note of your suggestions
really nice radio many modes i like that hope you and miss far point farms have a super christmas
Merry Christmas and Happy New year
Eric on the digital signal you are picking up.
I think the LED lights are messing with it- Thanks for the tips as I will look into them
That looks like an awesome radio. Might even replace my 880 Uniden in the truck.
It sure is
Wow that is very nice looking radio
It really is a sweet radio
This is probably already been answered new to your channel, but can I get the striker 955 tuned to 11 m?
Maybe check out Walcot Radio and see what they offer
Sharp radio Merry Christmas from West Tenn.
Merry Christmas to you as well
Front facing threaded mic socket, nice.👍
very convenient for sure
Haven’t even started using my McKinley II FCC because I wanted to get a President antenna for it first so today I ordered two President antennas and the President George FCC. I’m out of control!
I could think of many worse things to spend your money on- Keep on with it
Eric, remember all good things come in heavy packages, dude!😃Eric, I'm just a dumb old truck driver, do you think I can ever learn how to use this hi-tech radio. I worried that it will be to hard to learn.
If I can learn how to use this one, anyone can.
Well Okey dokey then@@FarpointFarms
can anyone use this radio or do you have to have any kind of license? i'm just starting to look into these things and i saw that it is a cb radio but also so much more.. thanks ...dave
No license needed! Turn it on and enjoy!
Pretty awesome radio, you didn't mention power but I suppose its available on their website. Wasn't really looking for a new radio but this will be on the top of my wish list.
4w AM/FM 12w SSB
FCC type accepted- 12 watts SSB, 4 watt DK on AM/FM
Just to be fair---the Anytone 6666 does all this with 60 watts out of the box (but it is a 10 meter radio that can be 're-banded'). It doesn't have CTCSS though. Great review here!
Thanks for the info!
The Anytone 6666 doesn't have noise reduction circuitry either like the George FCC has.
Nice radio. Thanks
Thanks for watching
Seems like the only thing that could make this radio better would be if you could invert the screen. It would be so much less distracting if the writing were all that was lit up and the rest of the screen was dark.
You can dim it, but i will not disagree with that idea. It's a good option to add into their radios.
The ctcss is most handy for eliminating skip for local coms. Really increases the quality
It does come in handy to clear up some of the noise.
I'm checkin' on checkin' it out. But, can't find it for sale anywhere yet.
I would check their site every so often- I am sure it will be out soon
Bells CB says " coming soon " and is listing it for $279.50......they have a " Notify me " button.
that’s a sweet radio in your opinion what would be a good all around mobile AM/FM antenna for this radio?
I like the Tram 3500. Not too pricey and works very well.
@@FarpointFarms 10-4 thank you sir👍
That theme music at the beginning of each video is catchy & CW McCall would of even liked it. ( If anyone even remembers CW McCall!!!
That was a song that was written for me by Marky Shaw- please check out his YT channel
The President George FCC CB radio looks like a souped-up Uniden 980SSB!
Very tempted... but rarely use the CB radio(s) unless I need to. Nice to have when all else fails.
There are some similarities- Better to have and not need
Excellent video Eric :) I like radio also be interesting if be modified for 5 A channels on 1 to 40 band plus higher channels above 40 and below channels 1 one and open Clarifier too when buy new too! Also one thing should see If USB port recharge battery on cellphone or Laptop or any electronics devices how long takes on mins to hour to then house way too! Plus Merry Christmas and Happy New New Year 2024 plus hope Santa Clause 🎅 brings you to lots of goodies to enjoy also and share to!
I can confirm that you can charge a cell off the USB port.
Nice radio...question though...do any police departments even monitor channel 9 anymore? I know my locals say they dont.
I am not sure about that one
No. Channel 9 is the Spanish Superbowl these days. At least here in Nashville.
In the last 15 yrs as a regional truck driver in the Midwest and Great Lakes region,
I've never been able to get a state highway patrol unit on channel 9...most states in this
region post highway signs with a 3 digit number to call for certain events other than a 911
call.
Ch 9 is where I go to annoy all the Spanish speakers
@@briansavage932Yeah. The Mexicans broadcast on it 24/7, 365 EVERYWHERE. I'm in Texas and it's annoying as HELL!
Would you recommend this as a base station for a newbie, I'm just getting into this as a hobby in thean cave and plan to set up an a99 antenna as well
Oh yes 110%. This is one of the best I've come across.
That signal could be RTTY, I think I heard FT8 on 11 meters recently.
Thanks for the tip!
Hey Brother can you do a video on the power function on a SWR meter? I can’t find a clear user friendly video. Thank you,
Sure!
Thank you Sir!!
wonder if it can stay on frequency.
I used the heck out of it yesterday and had no issues. The days of drift are all but over on these modern radios.
To any owners of this radio, is the display brighter than the Uniden Bearcat 980SSB? The Bearcat display easily washes out with just the slightest ambient light.
I was hoping that someone would/could answer this
@@FarpointFarms I have the Uniden 980SSB CB radio, and I think what he is referring to concerning the brightness, if the Uniden 980SSB is inside your vehicle during bright sunlit days, the lit display of the Uniden 980SSB appears washed-out and illegible, or appears extremely dim.
I love how President names their radios after U.S. Presidents.... cause they all break the laws!!!!
lol
God I wish my McKinley had scan skip so I could avoid Mud Duck and the Superbowl.
Mud Duck...🙄....he booms into S.W. Ohio pretty regular.
I am sure we will miss Mad Duck one day
@@FarpointFarms yes just like we'll miss the 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 guy 😂
I talked to Mud Duck once in my pickup using my McKinley and 102" whip. Sounds like he's everywhere!
I have heard data a lot recently on CB with my Tram 1411. IDK what it is
I'd really like to get to the bottom of this one. It's been going on for a few months now.
Hello Eric. If you would, could you recommend a prepping radio suitable for a SHTF scenario? I have zero experience with radios and have been watching your videos. Just not sure what would work
For listening? The XHdata 808 is a great radio. For transmitting? This one rocks!
Thank you 🙏
Just order one today.. thanks Eric.. .
I hope my videos will not make you go broke-
When do you think there’ll be an FM version of the Galaxy DX 2547?
I am not sure- hopefully soon
It looks like everything the bearcat 980 ssb should be
Well, to be fair the 980 is pretty old at this point. over 20 years. This is a new release.
What kind of price they asking for this one? I really like it
I am not sure on the exact price
What is the green butting for
It is a cover for the USB port
Do you think this will have the same screen problems the 980 have if left in the car. My 880 had the screen problem after a little over a year. Or is this just a uniden problem
I hope it will not have any issues- I have had the McKinley in my car for a long time with no issues
No it should not have any display issues as this radio was built from a totally different factory than the Uniden radio's. All new components and new board as this is not a Uniden built radio.
Now they need a base station
hopefully soon
He didn’t mention what the usb feature is supposed to do . But if I could upgrade to a more useful unit , this is the radio to get . I’m a little disappointed there is no red lighting in the display . But I’ll work with it .
There Walmarts in this county , but I’ve only been able to find one . Anyone know what they would be asking for it ?
USB for charging cell phone typically or anything that requires an usb for charging, and they’re known for being hot so faster charging.
Oh , ok thanks .
It crossed my mind too that data could be moved across it . Which kinda worries me . I like my anonymity . @@bobdillashaw4360
It's a charging port for GPS or Cell phones.
Have a McKinley coming (spare CB?) and a George coming too (truck CB).
Good to have a spare- You just never know if you might need one more.
