I have the Mag-Hytec pan. It adds two quarts and has an o-ring for the seal. I love it!
I saw this pan the other day, was wondering if it drains from the bottom or like the stock pan from the side?
ARod, thanks for showing us how it’s done - in (almost) real time. Very helpful, especially the pro tips used to complete critical steps.
I second that! Thanks Arod! 👏🏼🙌🏼💪🏼🔥❤️
I got my oil pan and trans pan already from PPE and am just waiting for the first oil change to change the pans. Quality products. 👍🏼
Its to low for a return it will cause the turbos to smoke
@@ricardorodriguez-se7tpI don’t think so.
I'm a DIY'er. I do about 99 percent of the work on my SAAB cars. If the workshop maintenance manual shows a torque value for a fastener, I use it. The last thing I want to have happen is to strip threads out from over tightening. I won't let anyone work on my cars without using factory torque specs and a torque wrench. Great video.
Have fun with your torque wrench.
Trust me on this one, Loctite 5810 for all bedplate, case half etc assembly. Every upper oil pan job should be using 5810. I use 5810 for cummins front covers and adapters, upper oil pan on 6.7, LS engine cam plates and oil pans. If two machined surfaces that have high permeability (oil and pressure) issues, this is the sealant to use, it is NOT silicone, it is rated to be used as an internal sealant, so you can use it for injector cups, transmission internal seals, all kinds of things. For this oil pan, I suggest using 5810 not silicone because its two machined surfaces.
Thanks for the advice! 👏🏼🙌🏼💪🏼🔥❤️
When I changed the tranny oil on my old Ram 2016 eco diesel, I replaced the OE plastic pan with a PPE. The fit and finish was great! I like this engine oil pan for my super duty too.....will have to add that to the to do shopping cart for sure!
Wow that’s crazy I installed that very unit on my 2017 F350 DRW. It fit great looks great I did use a little bit less silicone to where the bead on the outside was pretty minimal. I was surprised at the size of the bead on the original pan was protruding quite a bit. So I applied a smaller bead and it looked great. In comparison to others you can’t beat the price and the quality is outstanding!
I also did the oil pan… PPE! Added 7 additional Quarts to the transmission! Again super nice quality and great pricing.
What did that cost
God, your making me want to pull my pan just to see what’s in there. Lol.
This pan works pretty good for adding drain ports for compound turbos
Toyota has a special service tool to separate the lower oil pans on their engines from silicone. Its a fine cutting chisel wedge with a fat end to be hammered on. Would work well on this application as well.
Id like
My 21 powerstroke has 40,000 miles on it. I hate being too paranoid about my truck, but after seeing that metal, I just might be sending an oil sample to blackstone from my next oil change to see if there’s any funny business going on. Also, seeing how much residual oil is left over definitely justifies having shorter change intervals with a higher quality oil and filter.
Looks like a great product from PPE! Great video A Rod!
I torque all critical components. There was a time I didn't think it was needed, but after trying it on a few things I thought were "done" I realized how my expert feel was a bit off. Maybe I just need a little more experience to get it just right without a torque wrench. ;)
Calibrated hands mite work for folks that do this every day / week, but I always torque on all machines. Engineers way smarter than me calculated those numbers. No mfg tries to influence torque specs with profit margin (unlike many / most other aspects of your vehicle).
Use a torch and lightly heat the edge of the pan and them come right off without bending the pan and wrecking the aluminum sealing surface.
Ordered the oil and trans pan. Just need to install both, they look nice for sure. At the very least I would recommend the trans pan.
37 years aircraft mechanic, everything we torque.
Redid my gasket today with permatex black. Found the torque spec: 89 in-lb and the bolt tighten order as well. Hope she quits leaking. '13 psd, 260k, heavily modded.
Thanks for this video brother! Just ordered for my 22 450 with less than 3k on it. Gotta have that extra oil cooling! Also going to make everyone crawl under my truck to look at its beauty!! 😆
Goooood choice!!!
Your channel is awesome man. I look forward to every new video
Hey brotha, we appreciate that 💪
So Arod question is if banks can use a o ring for there diffs why not oil pans? It probably obvious just curious thanks for the channel
I wish we had that option here, there shld be.
Like others WTH metal whaaaattt where ! Nice job with the install the silicone application was impressive. That gun is money
That metal piece could have been in the pan since the factory and is nothing to worry about. You never know what happens at the factory 😂
That pan is gorgeous!
Jusssss you wait
That pan looks awesome! The sealing surface is nice and thick compared to the factory stamped steel pan. Should provide a better seal. I'll bet you were surprised to see the metal fragment in the pan. I use a torque wrench whenever possible.
Yes we were🤯
Any data on temp drops ??? @arod
How long did you let the TA-31 cure before adding oil? I know it recommends 24 hours but a lot of shops fill way sooner than that.
I have installed both engine and transmission accessories and they look great on my truck! I'm missing the rear differential cover
That is one robust pan!!!! Great job!!! Catch up with you Sunday!!
Thanks bud, COPY
Torque forget about it… Well that was me back in the day I knew what my arms could pull. now after being sick for a long time I might have to pull a torque wrench out to to relearn what’s my muscles are capable of, but for the most part I don’t worry about it unless it’s engine, tranny or covers, all the rest is just feel still. I use putty knives with rounded off corners, A piece of copper pipe pounded flat at one end and sharpened somewhat, along with a piece of bronze that is in the shape of a flattened chiselSomewhere between a putty knife and a chisel to get covers off.
Was that a rocker arm piece in there? Or maybe a pushrod piece?
it would be nice if they had an extra plug for a "Future" oil return line... Just saying... When I change pans, I will get it tapped prior to install for a possible extra turbo down the line maybe
Good work nice as always. And that oil pan looks beautiful. But I wonder what that metall pice com from
You like Amsoil as an alternative to Motorcraft oil? I ran Amsoil Signature Series in my 2019 Raptor and no issues, like the stuff.
Have you heard of lubelocker rather the silicon ?
That looks great , nice job ARod, thanks for sharing
Iisle makes an awesome gasket separator 50210 item number. works great. provides leverage and a spot to hit a hammer on it.
I put the AFE pan on mine. What oil cooler would you recommend for an upgrade over stock???
Like this pan and video.
How do you drill out broken oil pan bolts? Can you make a video?
Ooooooooof
thats an awesome pan. I wanna get one for mine for sure

Awesome piece! Looks great. Thanks for the product info. Where’s Hervey?
Not sure
Replaced the original oil cooler, and of course that meant taking off the lower oil pan to take off the nut for the bolt that goes through the pan to hold the oil cooler in place. I replaced the oil cooler with an SPE larger capacity and no through bolt. After this the lower pan leaked(never had a leak in all the years I owned the truck). We made two attempts to fix the leak with no success. Finally replaced the lower pan with an SPE extra capacity lower pan…no more leaks, and more oil volume!
Yikes...
How’s it going just wondering if any of your customers have on the spe oil pan installed. Or any review/feedback on them. I like the look of this one way better. But like the low drain point on spe. Thanks arod
This pan has a drain in the bottom. We only use this pan!
Nice, I appreciate the response. Just came from 6.0 to a 17’ 6.7. Learning a lot from your channel and old livestreams. 👌🏽 going to get these soon. Just subbed
TA 31 is the only thing I use for oil pan replacement.
Its tested and proven
Could the metal fragment be a shaving from the upper oil pan- created when driving the screwdriver in to separate the steel pan? I couldn’t see the upper pan very clearly on the vid. Excellent job, looks great!
No unfortunately not, it was bearing material
Is there a purple gloves shortage? Something strange is going on. Oh I'm an amsoil Dealer too A-Rod. I really like that oil pan. Very tough looking. A lot better than factory
Yea i have 2 buy my own cache of purps now...😔
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod That sucks. I just go to parts and get mine. Course they are black. I had some neon green ones. Think i might make that my trade mark.
Where you get the quarter deep swivels
Thanks
Cornwell
That's a nice stout oil pan.
Stale Cracker quote?! 😂😂
I am getting a slight leak from different parts of my pan. It’s very slight but still a leak. I torqued everything correctly. Should I start with a new O ring or could there be an issue with the O ring grove on the pan? I did use the prep whips when I removed the factory pan. What would you recommend?
U mean silicone?
How do you feel about the oil pans that use a o-ring?
What about the 5W40 oil? Is that new to 2019 and up 6.7 diesels? I have a 2019 and use 10W30 or 15W40. Is Amsoil better than Motorcraft? Does anyone make a front diff cover like the Banks rear diff cover? Thanks for all your informative videos. 👌🇺🇸
Nope 5W40 isnt new...is the full syn diesel oil. I do not use 15w40 just 5w or 10w. No banks diff yet
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Thanks! What’s the advantage of switching to the Amsoil synthetic and can you switch cold turkey? 👌🇺🇸
Yes you can, they are a higher tier oil.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod what about shell synblend diesel oil 10w-30 or chevron 10w-30 anything good about both oils? im curious about your opinion
@darrenfike924 I personally like the amsoil 10w30. We bought a drum this is all we use now
Metal in the pan! Is it safe to assume the engine is trashed???
No. Still running
Nice pan from PPE... anyone have actual data of heat sinks + 1 qt capacity and otl temp? Looks great, just always skeptical of actual functionality. And yes - goal is always to know/use torque values on my vehicles. Thanks ARod and welcome to the weekend!!

Goooood looking!!!! 🙌🏻
I have big concerns about the source of those metal fragments... As for torque, I always torque everything that has a torque spec and will go back after a few hundred miles to check the bolts and torque whenever I can...
Aaron have you looked at the SPE oil pan with the O ring what is your opinion of it compared to the PPE pan?
Would Never use their components......................ever.
Jrod ! Oil pan looks bad ass! Any idea on temp drops vs stock pan ???
No data yet
I like my Felpro Gasket... my hands shake too much to do RTV.
HAPPY FRIIIIDAYYY!!🤗...LOOK'N GOOD!!👍😁...Later👍💪💯
6:37 Looks like a piece of casting flashing or a drilling chip. Looked to be aluminum.
Will doing that cause an issue with factory warranty or an extended Ford warranty
No
Will this pan void warranty?
Absolutely not
Having the same leak from the same pan but its where the pan buts together could it be a silicone problem? Im thinking it did not dry correctly
Yea u might have messed up the prep work
Hey I just ordered this pan and a ta31 silicone do the screws come with it? What are some tips and recommendations before installing? No gasket just TA-31?
As far as what puttin the pan up
Yes just a bit nervous on putting it up i will be using a TA-31 silicone does the pan come with bolts? Or can I use the original ones?
Must use their bolts
👍
No gasket needed sir ?
Did you not watch
I just snug the oil pan bolts
When ya gonna do the trans pan next?
8/26
Hey I want some thoughts on transmission oil amsoil signature series ATF or mericon lv? What do you guys think about that?
If your trucks takes mercon LV, then finr
It's an oil pan. So what's the actual mechanical or other advantage that would or could extend the longevity of my 6.7L PowerStroke?
Did you watch the video
Would like to have seen that with a gasket. That combined with the gasket version upper would be AWESOME!
🤔🤔🤔already mentioned 😉😉😉😉
Was that metal piece confirmed to be aluminum or steel? Great vid as always man.
Very cool. I need to unsubscribe from your channel but PTT makes me spend too much money🤣. I definitely don’t like the fact there is so much old oil leftover in the factory pan. Did you have a code we can use when we buy the PPE pan? PTT needs to get paid!
🤣🤣🤣🤣😎😎😎😎 i wish , maybe 1 day
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod it takes time to build an empire. Keep grinding!
Ha aluminum to match the frame need and anything else on the alum-duty ... up next from Ford the electric f-250/350 charged super duty
Nahhhhhh
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I had to buddy
I’m not a tech .But to me look like we need to be pulling the motor. To see where the metal coming from. But I’m pretty sure you will take care of him
To me that looked like a flake from the seem of a casting.
Chickmunks🤣🤣🤣
It looks like the drain bolt can be safetied like an airplane
Why do you take the lower pan off like that? You risk scratching the upper pan. Just drain the oil, Loosen all the bolts, hit it with a mallet were the drain plug is, Hit it like you mean it! With your drain pan about a foot away, Boom falls right into the drain with no scratches on the upper pan!
Doesn't matter, silicone seals the surface
Hey I'd like to get some stuff done can you send me your info
Check the video description
You said that’s not good …,it’s not
Any internal components I'll torque, external is all by feel and by hand. Using a torque wrench for 71 inch pounds is a waste of time...1/4 ratchet and you'll have a better feel of the bolt.
Agreed
Magtech is better. Oring gaskets zero problems
yes I agree 100 percent I have one on my 22 f250 its awesome!
A Deeper Oil Pan Mean a DEEPER Oil Pump Pickup Longer Tube
5w40?? What is it winter in north Dakota or what 😂 I didn’t even use that when I was up there when it was -50°
0w40 5w40 or 10w30 only flavors i approve
I torque and Twerk! lol
Bruh. First time amsoil use at 138k. Wtf is this bs. Worst Type writer I’ve ever heard. And now at 4800 on it i swear im hearing valve chatter. F this stuff
Changing today
Bro its normal. It will go away, trust me
Ford: Let’s hire a new division chief and staff dedicated to solving our quality control issues and ballooning warranty claims.
Also Ford: The 6.7 Powerstroke oil pan leak issues and techs using old school RTV silicone with great results has been known for years but let’s not change a darn thing and keep using flimsy pans with new age sealant that doesn’t work pissing off owners and fleet owners everywhere.
Adds 1 qt….. I was so interested until that slipped your mouth.
What's your misunderstanding
....
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod going from 13qts to 14qts does not seem worth the money to me. The added percentage is minimal. Unless you had a 2011 with a plastic pan. That’s only my opinion!
Thanks for watching
