Rock On !! John
The greatest musical tragedy was Roger leaving Pink Floyd, it was never the same for any of them again...
Oh man, Flickering Flame... I LOVE that one too!
Some of the great musical artists who John has interviewed over the decades can be awkward, but everybody he interviews always comes across in an unguarded and relaxed manner.
It must be testament to the kind of person you are John.
Thanks for all your great uploads, and for sharing your work.
I finally get to see Roger in concert next month and I can't wait.
Thanks so much for your generous words. I try to be informal and conduct interviews as a conversation rather than in a formal question/ answer style. Some people don’t get it. You certainly do!

Thanks for that John, and thanks for your reply,
people could learn a thing or to from your technique.
I once tried interviewing a band for a community radio station,
but the interview ended up running longer than the band's performance because I didn't know how to end it,
I think it may have been a fight or flight response that kicked in, hahaha.
After that, I thought it's not for me, oh well you have to try, at least I give it ago.
@@JOHNEDGINTONDOCUMENTARIESmost of the time when I've read The Floyds's own thoughts on interviews, they've all said there are very few that they genuinely trust. Congratulations, you're one of them. It even comes across in their body language.
What did he say when you asked to interview him? “Not now john!” 😂 loving these interviews
Sublime! i Love your set of questions, very spot on.
Magnificent
Roger's musical aptitude is on full display here.
1:47…Very True
👍🏻 how cool 🚬😎
- "Is there a moment of inspiration (in writing `Wish You Were Here'?" - Waters plays 'Flickering Flame'... "I don't know"
Just messing about with a guitar. The songwriting process in a nutshell 🖖
"... really really good..." Yeah, just one of the Greatest Songs Of All Time! It's "really really good." 😂
When Syd left Floyd, it became something else. I think Roger and David were both critical to their sound and progress. I prefer the Syd version, but an excellent band all around, no matter which version. It is too bad Roger and David had a difference of opinions. But all great things come to an end.
Tough customer
Didnt he just say he heard dave play it,then he said teach me ,then he said he wrote it ,lol
I think what he means is Dave had the opening riff and Roger built the rest of the song from there (figured out the chords, came up with the lyrics etc.) though they're both more like co-writers
That guitar is slightly out of tune and Roger being Roger doesn't even notice...
Roger, learn how to tune a guitar !
Despite both having genius in other musical areas. Roger Walters is about as fluid and accomplished on guitar as Keef. That's to say, no very.
OK….but who is Roger Walters?
That's true, but it's worked wonders for both of them. Roger's rhythm guitar is perhaps the prime contributing factor to the harsh and rough sound of the Animals album.
Keef richards is a much better guitarist than roger waters and you
Yeah, but I think Mr. *Waters* knows that. Oh and he also probably knows he is a phenomenal songwriter, decent singer, funky bass player and a spider over the mixer.
Who’s walters??
So Roger once again claims it was all him.......
Well, technically he explained how it wasn't all him. But I get that it kind of seems like an underhanded way of rebutting the notion that "dave did the music and I just wrote the words". So it should be looked at in that light. When you consider just how FEW four and five note melodies really have triggered people then admitting to that 'spark' is a big deal. As you see, Roger basically says he came up with the strumming to go with his lyrics.
So thats fairly accurate, its US thats the problem as we always bring all this narrative baggage to any understanding of the history of Floyd. Best comment on that is Andrew King, who talks about why they were replaced as managers and says "well, there is stuff I can't even talk about for another 20 years". NOBODY, likely even the guys involved really know or remember what went on, and its best to approach Floyd as a narrative outside the personalities.
U sir broke up the floyd
He, sir, IS the Floyd!!!
How is it possible that so few people have watched this!? I’ve subscribed and certainly will send this to all my friends who were junior high school students when The Wall came out! None of us could afford tickets, or get rides to the couple of shows they performed in the US back in 79 or 80, but we were there for the 87 show and the brilliant 94 show. Roger: we wished you were there! ❤👍🏼🫡
I agree . I'm puzzled that so few have watched this too. thanks for subscribing !
You broke up the effing band roger!!!
And u are still not pink roger
