Takes me back to the 80’s. I was in the RAF, young and fit. Use to watch these vids after a night out. I’m 64 now, married, parent and grandparent. Only seems like yesterday!!!!

My mum was friends with the mum of the bass player in the Wets. He lived next door to my aunt and my cousin and as a teenager, I used to babysit the boys and play football with them! Shocked in the 80s, when my mum told me about the band! They all went to the same high school as me, but I was about 8 years older. Bought and loved their first album, which featured this track! Fond memories! 💖🎶

That old CRT TV, the racing track, the Girl in Front of those 1970/80 bathroom tiles... I am missing words. I wanna live in that "age" too - because I just was a Kid in those early 80s...

Instrumentation on this is close to perfect blue eyed soul and the sentiment behind the lyrics is great. One thing that lets it down for me is the key change, it’s not needed and plays clumsily
I'll be honest, I wasn't into Wet Wet Wet, but this debut single held my attention more than anything else they did. What an amazing debut it was too! I love the video, Marti's infectious smile and the twinkle in his eye. A bunch of young dudes at the start of a big rollercoaster adventure. To me this is perfect pop music, for all the reasons other people have mentioned. I've returned to it again this week during early September 2022, I'm reminded that great music is timeless.

Most people knew them from the cover version of they did of the troggs love is all around which was on the Four weddings and a funeral soundtrack. Surely you must be familiar with that?

I was born in 1983 and this song reminds me of being in primary school... (it was played on radio 1 until about 2000 might still be played on radio 2 but getting a bit old even for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) It's about as 80s as things get! Good though

I was lucky enough to be listening to this music at the time it first came out, although I was pretty young at the time. In 1987 I was 8 years old for example, but I was a big follower of the charts from about 1983 onwards (which was unlucky in a way because 1981 and 1982 were great years for music as well). @@kevinbell3700 Ironically I was hit on a pedestrian crossing while the green man was lit up and the beeps were sounding. Doubly ironically, there was a blind man with his guide dog walking behind me who was called as a chief witness to the resulting court case. How weird is that.

Story about Marti Pellow.. my mate was in the gym/leisure area of the Copthorne Hotel, Newcastle a few yrs ago, he was in the jacuzzi, when a fella joined him.. started chatting, my mate was waxing lyrical about the famous Newcastle nightlife and how this bloke should get himself out that night, after a while the fella said that he was working that night and would next time he was in the area, the fella was Marti Pellow My stupid mate didn't know who he was, and that Wet Wet Wet were playing that night to a sell out Newcastle Arena... he never lived it down.

Totally agree, wouldn’t say that anything the band released after was ‘bad’ but sort of a downward slope after this first single. Nothing they made after this had the same kind of vibe.

For a lot of the years in the 80s you can reel off the names of great songs one after the other, its almost impossible to do that for more recent years.

H and I love WWW and we especially love this number, Angel Eyes is "our song" but this means almost as much. We were priveledged to see WWW perform it free of charge at a "Fall Fest" on Boston Common in the 90s, and oh what a magical moment it was.
