"I Was Lucky" to have spent my adolescence listening to this music!
me too
Wishing you were lucky 😂
kicking in the gutter
Same, don't make music like this no more
I'm wishing I was lucky to have that.
I’d go back to the 80s in a heartbeat. This tune reminds me of a lot of happy times.
Ditto.uncomplicated.you could be who you are without prescription and pressure of "social media" and the music told you something and made you feel something.
The 80's awww, best decade for me,
Yes no worries in this Times 90
57 years old and going to sign a contract at a company in a new country...wishing I eas lucky and now I am!!!❤ love to everyone reading this!! Good vibes
I'm building a time machine, il get the cassettes to listen to along the way back to the 80's. 👍😎
People tried to mock me for liking them. I didn't care then and don't care now. Great band.
Saw Marti Pellow perform last night. It was bliss!
Seriously under-rated song. Still sounds amazing.
One of the most soulful pop songs of all time in my opinion. Really nails that longing feeling.
Fab I love it. Used to dance around the sitting room to it 😊
Takes me back to the 80’s. I was in the RAF, young and fit. Use to watch these vids after a night out. I’m 64 now, married, parent and grandparent. Only seems like yesterday!!!!
God bless you friend. From Salford
Time flies buddy
Massively underated group.
What a voice Marty gives us. Thankyou.
My mum was friends with the mum of the bass player in the Wets. He lived next door to my aunt and my cousin and as a teenager, I used to babysit the boys and play football with them! Shocked in the 80s, when my mum told me about the band! They all went to the same high school as me, but I was about 8 years older. Bought and loved their first album, which featured this track! Fond memories! 💖🎶
Popped in sold out❤
How comes you didn't say his name and just the bass player of the Wets?? lol
I have met Graeme Clark a few times over the years-nice bloke and very down to earth!
You said was friends, how comes not anymore??
Smashing hit! Brings me back to such good memories, to such a good era 🤗
Fu**ing hell, in a couple of years this will be 30 years ago... THIRTY YEARS!!! Holy crap where did it all go? Love it.
Scary shit isnt it???? Brilliant song taking me right back to the (30yr old day)!!!! x
It is now...
And here we are, 30 of our best years gone 4ever, and becoming an old fart is what we got left.
shiiiit
Unionjack Bob .
Guys from clydebank come good! Really ❤ these guys because they are just like the rest off us. 👍
So you've all got a marti to stab you in the back .....nice...joking we all have
41 years old this reminds me of my car journeys with my parents. Good old 80s!
I'm a huge fan of the 80s but have never heard of this group or any of their songs. Unbelievable...what a hidden gem!
Most people knew them from the cover version of they did of the troggs love is all around which was on the Four weddings and a funeral soundtrack. Surely you must be familiar with that?
@@ambehak4744 Seriously, that was a cover?? Wow thanks: I never knew that!
@@ambehak4744Si es kla unica cancion que se escucho de ellos en colombia nada mas q yo sepa
To me, this is still the best song they ever did.

spreadthelove77 for me to 😍☺
spreadthelove77 - nope Angel Eyes!
spreadthelove77 defo
A relentless well constructed pop song. Best one they did.
I agree. The other good song they did was Goodnight Girl, but this is definitely the best. One of those bands that had their best hit with their very first song.
@@ajs41 in fairness, it’s not as if they were a one album album wonder. They had about 10 years of decent songs. I won’t lie, my favourite songs are on this album however they still produced good songs through the 90s
@@euangray4548 True.
100% perfect pop song
@@Holygasoline it’s up there with anything Nick Hayward, Howard Jones, or Nik Kershaw ever wrote.
Instrumentation on this is close to perfect blue eyed soul and the sentiment behind the lyrics is great. One thing that lets it down for me is the key change, it’s not needed and plays clumsily
The Olympus of Sophisti-Pop (IN NO ORDER OF QUALITY): Wet Wet Wet, Dexys Midnight Runners, Sade, Prefab Sprout, Simply Red, Danny Wilson, Deacon Blue, Level 42, Spandau Ballet, Mondo Rock, Bryan Ferry and The Style Council
Classy arrangements and impeccable vocals!
Tears for Fears are still making cracking music. Always loved them.
@@Camille_Anderson True, The Seeds of Love is a gem of Sophisti-pop, so much love for them...❤❤❤
You missed Hue and Cry!
Sophisti-pop at its finest. This is pure class.
I'll be honest, I wasn't into Wet Wet Wet, but this debut single held my attention more than anything else they did. What an amazing debut it was too! I love the video, Marti's infectious smile and the twinkle in his eye. A bunch of young dudes at the start of a big rollercoaster adventure. To me this is perfect pop music, for all the reasons other people have mentioned. I've returned to it again this week during early September 2022, I'm reminded that great music is timeless.
Si lo mismo pasaaca en colombia nunca se ha escuchdo sobre ellos y me encantan son expectaculares muy rraro😒😒
This debut single was so good that they couldn't better it during the rest of their career.
This for me personally is their best hit, 👌
Angel eyes, and temptation and Sweet little mystery aswell as this song.. The album popped in souled out album is still amazing. x
Their first song and their best song. They never bettered it.
@@lisadavie5819Angel Eyes is still my favourite ever. ❤️
One of their best songs I think. Excellent music, excellent vocals :) Part of my 80's ;)
afhkllhy
I agree with you.
Agree completely. First track I heard of there's way back when, and I always loved the most. They did some good more commercially successful stuff afterwards, but it never lived up to this...
Sitting in that nice room, ugly weather, and day Tuning into night outdoors... I'll keep returning to this Video over and over... That old CRT TV, the racing track, the Girl in Front of those 1970/80 bathroom tiles... I am missing words. I wanna live in that "age" too - because I just was a Kid in those early 80s...
Rediscovering the Wets + so in awe of the raw talent + Marti's outstanding + underrated vocals. Such humble + down to earth guys, even to this day❤
This is their best record, love the bass line.
Thanks gta tbogt for making my taste in music better
One of my friends was a big Marti Pellow fan till he passed away
RIP Benny Harvey - Gone but not forgotten
benny harvey rip 🕊️
Sorry to hear about your friend, but he wasn't a big fan of Wet Wet Wet, but just Marti Pellow??
@@mikekaraoke Benny Harvey was the Scottish comedian Limmy's alter-ego.
The vocals-superb, exceptional, awesome, fantastic, crisp, clear, refreshing. What a talented group from Scotland! I love 'em!
another good 80's band from Scotland in the 80's+90's Simple Minds
Heard of them. Agree-"Don't You, Forget About Me" and "Alive & Kicking" excellent songs!
gtmobayer not just them songs but many other hit singles- along with known hit albums: Sons and Fascination, New Gold Dream,Sparkle in the Rain,Once upon a time,
Street Fighting years etc
I have about 3 of their albums. They are a strong talent.
gtmobayer What 3 albums do you own?
Brilliant album. Feel good song that lasts forever❤❤❤❤
Always loved Wet Wet Wet and this song makes me feel upbeat!!
Marty was so pretty! That cheeky kiss! ❤❤❤
They were more than lucky this song is a wonder🎉 great vocals together with a powerful rhythm..Best song they made ..Just Fab 🤗
THE LEAD SINGER HAS A GREAT VOICE
davina davis marti pellow yes he does
Lucky to still be with us.
Soon to buy his book, never knew he had a serious addiction if thats true
indeed he does! and to think he was only 22 when he did this!
Wow..what is his name..?
An absolute classic... just watching the video now. Superb. One of Scotland's finest bands and they've had many x
Marti's voice singing the bit from 2:36 makes the hairs tingle xxx
Hands down, the most achingly lush piece of pop music I’ve ever heard
VICE CITY FM, takes me back to when that came out and blasting that station every second i could, still a banger all these years later
One of the best songs ever! The music, instruments and sound! Gutted I was born in the 90s 😒
I was lucky enough to be listening to this music at the time it first came out, although I was pretty young at the time. In 1987 I was 8 years old for example, but I was a big follower of the charts from about 1983 onwards (which was unlucky in a way because 1981 and 1982 were great years for music as well). This is my 1987 music videos playlist in case you're interested: ua-cam.com/play/PL6oCQqv2KW6V09jZ31EcyBXiA9Pr4TNq0.html
I was born in 80s best music ever
Underrated song considering the impact this song had on peoples lives x
Heard this on the car radio today...I'd forgotten how good it was! I was whisked back to the 80's and happier times 😊
I was working on the radio 1984-2004. Absolutely loved the eclectic 80’s pop tunes. Anything could be played. This song is awesome!
Can we make a New radio together?
Where did you work?
Love this, brings warm nostalgic feelings , never gets boring 80's at its finest 👌
Ah the 80' s fantastic times
He looks so happy while singing !
Martin siempre feliz de ser cantante y guapo y triunfar en su profesion.
Was probably zapped on coke
Wan ay thum
So much great music came out of Scotland in the late 70s and 80s.
The 80s are awesome 🇺🇸👍
What a great song! Everything flows just perfectly.
The best of 80s music had passed at this stage but this track was a shining light in the latter part of the decade. Sassy. Still raises a smile.
Wow !! Back to an age of unbridled happiness ! Feel so blessed to have grown up in the 80’s !!!
Had the pleasure of meeting these many years ago. Such genuine guys
So good with head phones. The backing vocals are outstanding, as is Marty (i) Pellow's voice. Just brilliant.😘
Their best song, the harmonies and the brilliant piano.
Usually, with bands, their first hit or early work is their best.
A superb song, has that Scottish mid 80's style.
Totally agree, wouldn’t say that anything the band released after was ‘bad’ but sort of a downward slope after this first single. Nothing they made after this had the same kind of vibe.
@cm-ih1jb Absolutely 💯. Usually, it is the case, though, with any band, musician, or artist.
“Scottish mid 80’s”??? Soul mid 80’s more like.
@@solarscience5815 Scottish soul I guess.
@@michealkelliher8428if you say so. There’s no music called “Scottish soul”. It’s copying soul music plain and simple. Credit where it’s due.
I was born in 1983 and this song reminds me of being in primary school... (it was played on radio 1 until about 2000 might still be played on radio 2 but getting a bit old even for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) It's about as 80s as things get! Good though
It's the first time I have watched the video. I was listening on radio 2 this evening playing this its a brilliant song.
The best song ever!
80'S so good.
Great song and band. Loved these as a teenager in the 80s, such great music we had back then ♥️.
Oh look how young they are 😊
How fucking good is this song?!!❤❤❤❤
I was 17 when this was released and bought the 7inch. I'm now 54 and still think it is absolutely brilliant.
Very good!
Great track , never gets old
timeless❤!
This, OMG! And,
The original video!
Much thanks to who/whomever uploaded this!!!!!!!!!!!
Cuz., back in 1988, when this album had came out, I bought it, even though, I still have to confess to me myself, their song, plus video, "Angel Eyes," is the ultimate gem...
Cool, Scottish, English, Irish, or whatever, classic, smooth, always soulful sounding, group...
Even now...
Their best song absolute mint 👌
Hey Guys
Listening to (and loving) this in my 2023 New Years Eve playlist
Ps mr pellow, you always have been. Know that your voice and heart came through your smile.🙏🏴🌟❤️
If only we could turn back time
Wet wet wet were so good!! I didn’t even appreciate them at the time but I do now ❤

lol i was -19 years
Your the same age as me then 👍..yes THE 80'S.......YOU CAN'T BEAT IT FOR MUSIC
That smile.❤❤
Hey Vice City FM from GTA EFLC brought me here
Literally the perfect radio
Yeah it’s the best song by them
Hue and Cry, Johnny Hates Jazz, Living In A Box, Level 42, Ten Sharp, Wet Wet Wet, and Curiosity Killed the Cat had a similar sound. And I absolutely LOVE IT🙌🏼
Heard this on the radio yesterday for the first time in years. I'd forgotten how good it was!
great track miss the 80s especially 1987 great year .
I think Britsh pop music started to faulter in 1988 with the cheap stock, Atkin and Waterman onslaught...1980-87 was superb...
I count myself lucky to be born in 1987!
For a lot of the years in the 80s you can reel off the names of great songs one after the other, its almost impossible to do that for more recent years.
First time I heard this song, I was laid in a hospital bed, recovering from a road accident and counting myself lucky for surviving
Really homie awesome for yourself u are well now
What a song
@@kevinbell3700 Ironically I was hit on a pedestrian crossing while the green man was lit up and the beeps were sounding. Doubly ironically, there was a blind man with his guide dog walking behind me who was called as a chief witness to the resulting court case. How weird is that.
@@nickyapps haha classic
Hope you won !
I'll admit it is something I probably would inadvertently play on my hospital radio show.

"WISHING I WAS LUCKY"
*POPPED IN SOULED OUT (c)1987
I think it was way ahead of its time, sounded like something that could have come out in the late 80's early 90's
Ich bin alt! Damals einer super toller Song. Immernoch! Nicht so einzuordnen! Cool.🍀
Class song.
I wouldn't class myself as old but this just seems a lot better than most of the stuff that is out these days.
Upbeat, funky and not cheesy or manufactured.
the 60's through to 90's were the best times for music, today's stuff can't compare,
pjw85 2000s were good
@@myristicina.
Not in the U.S. at least.
@@pjw85 went downhill after 2000. Really bad after 2005. Avril Lavigne...Gimme a break.
Its great, but "not cheesy"??? C'mon.
Story about Marti Pellow.. my mate was in the gym/leisure area of the Copthorne Hotel, Newcastle a few yrs ago, he was in the jacuzzi, when a fella joined him.. started chatting, my mate was waxing lyrical about the famous Newcastle nightlife and how this bloke should get himself out that night, after a while the fella said that he was working that night and would next time he was in the area, the fella was Marti Pellow My stupid mate didn't know who he was, and that Wet Wet Wet were playing that night to a sell out Newcastle Arena... he never lived it down.
Rusty Y My life is complete thanks for the story
Wowwwwww!!! Oh my heart ❤❤❤❤❤
uhuh...
Love this!!
Wow! If that was me I would think this guy looks familiar, can’t quite remember where.Only got back into Wet Wet Wet when I heard ‘Sweet little mystery’ on the radio on Friday.Lots to catch-up on!
What a voice
Some of the new stuff coming out in the UK in 87 was superb, My favourite year of the 80's. This was one of the top tunes.
Killer track front to back
Brilliant sense of humor. Have been listening to Marti for quite a long & strangely this is only the 1st time I watched this video! Just so funny how Marti kept smiling all the way after the kiss till all of em got sucked into the TV!
Bring back the 80s,the best and this song,i still love
Love this band ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man 80s music is so addictive.
Loved this album. I was only about 7 when it was released but he was gorgeous. From a fellow scot I've never seen them live which is a shame. x
Possibly the best song from the 80s era! Feel good song!
Brilliant song 88 I think x
I have all their albums. Used to play them non stop continuously.
Guaaaa este tema fue el principio de mi admiración artística!!!! I il LOVE . Argentina los abraza!

I loved kicking in the 80's and wishing I stil there, and wishing I was there lucky.
Just seen Marti in Gateshead. Great night. This song is up there with the best Debut Singles of all time.
The 1980s had the best songs
Great song, great melody - great times!
Oh i remember im still wishing i am lucky
where are you ladies'?
Wow, I came across this cassette at a dollar store back in 1993 and couldn't believe my luck! I never thought I'd hear this song again. I rewound the track so often the tape started to warp lol
This was one of the best songs they ever did
Wishing I Was Lucky is the best song Wet Wet Wet made l like the song even to this day.
