We don't speak with a lisp in Spain (except in some parts of Andalucía). We just pronounce the soft C and Z as "TH" in thumb, but the S is an S same as in English (or soft C in English). We make a distinction for these two sounds, while in Latin America it's all the same.
Hi, I'm from Spain and I just wanted to correct some of the things you said. We say DE UVE DE for DVD and maybe when you came here the apps were so new that we didn't know how to say it (I guess) now, we just simply say app (ap) as everyone does. Thank you!
The funny thing is that I use this videos to improve my english too, and they're curious. If you want an spanish hand, tell it to me. Un saludo desde España colega!
I tend to say CEDÉ for CD and DEVEDÉ for DVD.. Also I never say App or A PE PE, I just say aplicación, that is the Spanish for application. I'm from Chile. I've noticed some other pronunciations for english acronyms, like WI-FI. In Spain WI-FI is prononuced in spanish "GÜI-FI", here we say "GUAI-FAI" (Still the pronunciation is in spanish, with a g instead of a W, haha)
Caro Vasquez Thank you so much. Well, it turns out a V is "ve" in some countries and "uve" in other countries. Thank for you input. Very cool to hear the specifics from Chile.
Gringo Español Yeah, i'm from chile too and here we say both "devedé" (like in spain) and Dividi (english way) but in my case I tend to pronounce it in the english way (dividí). Greetings from Chile!!
I say Ceh Deh and Deh Beh Deh for CD and DVD respectively. Sometimes I say app, just like in English, but most of the times I say "aplicación". I'm from Central México.
I don't know any Spaniard who says A-P-P. And I lived 25 years in Spain (my home country, by the way). We say App as it sounds in English. Also, we do not have a lisp. We have the sound "s" as in Latin american Spanish. It's jsut Z and C that sound different than S. We just have two different sounds for the different letters whereas in Latin America they don't. That's a common misconception among English speakers.
can you tell me what exactly your friend said? because app ...of course it can mean app but sometimes in spanish its aproximadamente but abreviado of course :) Saludos desde Chile
I really don't remember, but it was clear from the conversation he was talking about a phone APP.But what you said, I didn't know. Thanks! So app = aproximadamente?
hahahha yeah when i speak with my friends sometimes i dont like to said the whole word so we said "A" "P" "P" ;)...btw a like your videos hahha it really help people to learn spanish muchos saludos y sigue asi que lo haces muy bien :)
Khaled Fadl Thank you so much for watching and for telling me you like me =) I release a new video every week so make sure you're subscribed.
Gringo Español did your friend really say that? hahahaha I'd never heard it, where I live (catalonia) everyone says aplicación. When you first said A-P-P in your video I didn't even know what you were talking about :') hahahaha
Well......CD is for Compact Disc osea CD so we just have to follow it.....but if people want to say in Spanish then they need to change the letters to .....DC osea disco compacto......if that makes any sense, sometimes it won't. So I would say if the words are in English keep them in Englis......like Donut ....no digas DO NU T in panish.......major di PAN. LOL
What?! It's ok if you say that in Spain we say "Ce de" but we don't say "De be de". We say "De ube de". When we have anachronisms we pronounce the letters as we pronounce them in the alphabet. This is spanish from Spain. And they are anachronisms. Words like "App" aren't. They are words that we caught from English and we use and read them like a normal spanish word. So when we have "App" we say "Ap", and that is. You're making it difficult, you don't know how to teach Spanish because you don't know the language.

ane miren Arriaga Thank you for the clarification. Very cool of you.
Thank you so much for your videos! From one gringo to another, you make learning the language a lot simpler :)
The funny thing is that I use this videos to improve my english too, and they're curious. If you want an spanish hand, tell it to me.

Your friend's case is something weird. In Spain I always hear "aplicación", never "A-PE-PE".
I'm Spanish and I hate when people say "a pe pe" because, just as you've said, it's an abreviation and not an acronym.
I say Ceh Deh and Deh Beh Deh for CD and DVD respectively. Sometimes I say app, just like in English, but most of the times I say "aplicación". I'm from Central México.
***** Gracias! Great information. Really appreciate it.
+Calvin Limuel Gracias!
I don't know any Spaniard who says A-P-P. And I lived 25 years in Spain (my home country, by the way). We say App as it sounds in English. Also, we do not have a lisp. The correct pronunciation by the Spaniards is: DE UVE DE. In Barcelona they say DE VE DE because they mix Spanish with Catalan.
can you tell me what exactly your friend said? because app ...of course it can mean app but sometimes in spanish its aproximadamente but abreviado of course :)

hay i love you man and i love your way to explain the matter keep it up
Khaled Fadl Thank you so much for watching and for telling me you like me =) I release a new video every week so make sure you're subscribed.
***** Gracias Jose! Pensé que me estaba volviendo loco!
Gringo Español jajajaj de nada ;)

FeelMetalMan Estás en España? Dices que V es UVE allí, no VE? Y un ap, se dice "ap" ? No Ah Pe Pe?
DVD in spain is D UVE D (we say the letters, not the sound)
Yo hablo español e ingles también :D, Greetings from Chile.
I so love the AH-PE-PE it's really cute....=]
Dulala Adorable.
Gringo Español did your friend really say that? hahahaha I'd never heard it, where I live (catalonia) everyone says aplicación. When you first said A-P-P in your video I didn't even know what you were talking about :') hahahaha
¿Como fue España?
¡Me encantó!
Muy bien. Me encanta España. ¿Qué ciudad visitó usted?
Justin Weaver Este último viaje, me fui a Valencia, Sevilla, Madrid, Barcelona y Zaragoza.
You can't compare to Latin American spanish because we all have different accents and meaning of words!!! Ex: Coger= Pick up in Mexico Coger=to fuck
Well......CD is for Compact Disc osea CD so we just have to follow it.....but if people want to say in Spanish then they need to change the letters to .....DC osea disco compacto......if that makes any sense, sometimes it won't. The last sentence of your comment...the same can be said about you and English.
