Fun Fact: Wolverine actually has a really fast healing factor, but it is being slowed by constantly being poisoned by his adamantium skeleton. So his healing in the intro is his full power.

And in some issues his healing was practically instant so virtually no regenerative time, it's healed as fast as he got hurt but that meant that his animalistic nature was more pronounced. @@Tushar_995 The first Wolverine mini-series, if I recall, covers this movie a bit. Comics wise, we discover his first connection to Japan early on in the beginning of his run as an "X-men" member, when the team is rescued at sea by a Japanese freighter, and the team is shocked when he converses with the crew in fluent Japanese. This was all during the run that transitioned the team from the original (Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Iceman, Angel), to the "New" team which included Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, etc.

To film that shirtless fight scene at night, Hugh Jackman prepared for 3-months, training and exercising, and continuously increasing the amount of water he was drinking all the while. Close to the end he said he was drinking the upwards of 10 liters of water a day. But then right before the shoot he went on a 36-hour water fast, so come time to film he is extremely dehydrated and has no water weight on his body whatsoever, and thus making him look like he did. It's very dangerous, and very unpleasant, and he was fighting every urge not to faint, but... he's Hugh Jackman. Gotta love him.

In The Last Stand Charles talks about transfering someone's consciousness to a brain-dead body, which in the end is what he does when he's about to be killed by Jean. The body in question was apparently a twin brother of his, whose consciousness he unintentionally destroyed while in the womb (allegedly), hence why he looks the same here. I've read on some other places that he's still in a wheelchair, even though it's technically a different body, because his inability to use his legs is psychosomatic to some degree, related to his powers.

The other person Charles transferred his consciousness into was Charles' twin. When they were in the womb together they both got the same power because they are identical twins. However, due the intensity of their mutant ability only one of them had the opportunity to form a consciousness. The other twin was a blank slate this whole time until Charles moved his consciousness into his twin's body before being killed by Jean. This was a known backup plan as the nurses knew if he ever awoke, it would be Charles who implanted his consciousness.

Some fun facts about Wolverine: having claws and healing powers aren't the only powers logan has. part of logan's mutation is him having Animalistic behavior, appearance and abilities which is why he is hairy and that his hair appears to look like cat ears, he also growls a lot and when he screams it sounds more like a roar.
other abilities include enhanced sense of smell like a hound making him an excellent tracker, he also has inhanced sense of hearing like a bat or owl and lastly, probably one of the most underrated ability logan has is that he can communicate with animals (not talk to them) mostly predators such as wolves and bears, that is why he took it personally when those hunters shot/poisoned the bear, because he felt the fear and pain the bear was going through. in the comics wolverine actually prefers animals over people that he mostly spend his time in the woods if his not drinking in a bar/ being involved in a bar fight.
and one more thing, logan is not immortal, he ages but very very slow due to his healing ability

By happy coincidence, Mister the Wolverine shops at the same haberdashery as Mister the Hulk. Mister Hulk has his trousers special ordered, made from "Unstable Molecules", invented by Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. Mister Wolverine found out about this material whilst disagreeing with Mister Hulk one day. Mister Wolverine learned that his claws could slash up Mister Hulk perfectly fine, but could not cut the Comics-Code-Approved material of his trousers no matter how hard he tried. Later in the disagreement, after Mister Hulk unfortunately tore Mister Wolverine in two, Mister Wolverine inquired of Mister Hulk where he might clothe his lower half in such trousers (after he reunited himself with it, of course). Mister Hulk was kind enough to supply Mister Logan with the name, after which Mister Hulk leapt fearfully far away.

At the time X-Men: The Last Stand was made, in the comics Charles Xavier has a brain-dead twin brother. It was implied in the end credits of that film that Charles' consciousness transferred to that twin, which is why Charles still looks like Patrick Stewart. (Didn't explain why he needed a wheelchair, though that could likely be explained as due to muscle atrophy.)
I say at the time Last Stand was made because in more recent years the comics retconned Charles to have a twin sister rather than brother. These films were made before that new character was introduced in the comics world.

50 years ago, Wolverine debuted in Marvel Comics from an appearance with The Incredible Hulk to a newly recruited member with the X--Men.
But in 1982, his first-ever solo series by Frank Miller (300, Sin City) and Chris Claremont (1970s X-Men) defined the character of Logan.
His story was set in Japan and Logan's life was likened to that of an Ronin (samurai with no master).
He has the heart to stand against opposition, but is still learning/finding a direction in life.
The film uses elements from the solo series and is set long after the events of X3:The Last Stand.
This is Hugh Jackman's 2nd film with director James Mangold following the romantic comedy, Kate & Leopold (2001).
Struggling with Jean's death, finding his place in the world and losing his healing temporarily is the most drama.
The action, romance, suspense, intrigue of being a Gajin (outsider) caught in someone else's battle really feels like the comics.
2 of the antagoniss;Viper is originally human and known as Madame Hydra in the Captain America comics.
Yashida in the Silver Samurai suit is based on the Silver Samurai and Ogun characters/known Wolverine villains.
A really good sequel, rightfully steps ahead of and more loved than X-Men Origins:Wolverine.
But both Logan & Professor X (solo/together) would soon face even greater obstacles.
The evolution was not over and I personally couldn't wait to see so much more in this universe.

I really wanted to see a sequel to this movie, but I guess no one really wanted to see the way his relationship with Mariko plays out, lol. I'm afraid that Logan is just doomed when it comes to love, which in truth is part of the reason I love him. His life has been a constant struggle, a constant fight ever since he was a child, and he has endured things that no person should ever have to endure, and yet he's never lost things like his empathy, or his honor. Thanks for your reactions- always fun to watch! As a fan of the comics, I have mixed feelings about this one. I don't like what they did adapting Viper's character. In the comics she's powerless, Wolverine's X-wife (no apologies for that pun) but really just a badass. I do, however, really love that bullet train scene! Also Wolverine and Yukio have had a romantic relationship and he was due to marry Mariko at one point! I do think the comics often get it better than the films. In one version of the comics, set in a different universe, it implied Wolverine was responsible for Nick Fury's missing eye, from his Weapon X days- which I think is waaaaaaay cooler than the MCU's version!
