I camped for two months alone in the forest of Manistee at Lake Michigan. The best two months of my life. I was wigged-out the first night so then I just started reading Ephesians out loud over and over and over every night. By the end of the third night all of my anxiousness went away. I would still read from the book every night, I never had a problem and there were many threats around me. Praise God. It was so awesome

I'm single. I went on a solo boundary waters trip to Northern Minnesota 2 years ago. My whole purpose was to be 100 percent dependent on Jesus and use the gifts and talents he gave me. Wow, did I learn a ton. My biggest fears were man and bears. Neither were an issue. 3 nights 4 days. I came out with a deeper faith and greater confidence in God and me. Not for everyone, self knowledge is key. Life and death is a constant reality. But I loved it.

Cat tails have a goo in the stem that you can put on any injury and is a novacaine numbing and healing. Good for bites, scratches, toothaches etc.
Its Diana! Im one of the women who was with Brooke and Sandy in that survival trip. Yes, bear stayed around camp for couple nights! Creepy for sure. We also ate fish eyeballs 🤣🤣

Nighttime sounds in the woods are wonderful . My favorite time of "day" is around 2 am when I take my pup outside for a walk before going to bed. LOL We live in the woods.
Running "what if" scenarios through your head isn't crazy at all. It's tactical, it's smart, and it helps you mentally prepare for what may come.

The city of leavenworth will fine you for having bird feeders, because the bears get into them. But it would be nice to know that first, they fail to tell you but they love getting the money for the fine. I guess one could fight it , but it’s one of those chose your battles.
Hat? Just type in Pendleton wool hats; or just go to the Pendleton factory site. They cost 50-80 bucks or so depending on style & color. The style Brooke has is called, " The Outback". 100% wool.

@@willrogan955 she may not want to share all that though, neither may Dave. She said in the video that she’s been a Christian her whole life which means she got saved when she was a kid most likely. Her story with that is probably similar to most in regard to that

Don't trust the words "waterproof" on your tent. Waterproof it yourself and always bring a large tarp and rope to cover your tent.

Thanks for answering our questions. We do have birch trees here in the UK but we are not allowed to have fires in the woods due to it being a fire hazard - we have had too many wild fires.
I follow Dave's channel and I also follow a guy called Shawn who is up in Ontario, his channel is My Self Reliance - he built a homestead which he has recently sold and is now building a new homestead on some more remote land. He does the wild stuff but he also likes to be self sufficient food wise so he has a huge geodesic greenhouse, an outhouse, a workshop and a shelter - he is about to start building his homestead from fallen trees on his property and from trees he has cleared.
There is a book you might like by Giles Milton called Nathaniel's Nutmeg - How one man's courage changed the course of history. It is a bit grisly in parts but it is a very good read. Its the story of nutmeg, the spice trade and English adventurers.

Being in the woods, especially bear country, best motto - "speak loudly and carry a big gun!". My BC buddy gave me good advice, short barrel 12 guage, alternating 00Buck and Slug until full. Last resort but prepared.
I love your hat as well! I bought one in 1989 from a outfitter while travelling in Jackson Hole Wyoming! Mine is Navy Blue wool! I love my hat 👒

I'm gonna be 50 tomorrow! I guessed we were about the same age 😂 I love the outdoors, too. Camping, biking, skiing, canoeing. Camps fires, cooking, lounging in a hammock.....

I found your channel, watched you, heard " Get outside & get happy!" & you inspired me to put snow (studded) tires on my mt bike and give winter biking a shot. It totally worked!!!! I put 100 miles on! Thank you for inspiring me. I loved seeing you on Alone, also (both seasons) and this summer I might get one of those big tents for our lake property. If you can do it, so can I😃

Awful wood smoke, the only thing I can't handle about the outdoors, my asthma doesn't permit any kind of smoke in my lungs.
Then the wearable heating packs are more your thing, together with a nice lamp you can bring with you :) There are even heating pad food packs, that heats when you put the pad next to the food, add water, and that reacts and makes hot steam. It's amazing how that cooks the food. You CAN camp without smoke and fire.
Right on Clara! When I'm alone out yonder I always will carry. It calms stray thoughts when you are hearing things.

Costa Rica is where we live. We love it but some of the critters here are a bit scary at time (poison snakes and spiders). But we love the mountain area and the beach is beautiful too.

If you feel like meeting a new friend to hike/camp, I could meet up with you this summer. None of my friends are interested. They want to go to nice restaurants and drink cocktails lol.

Used dryer lint great fire starter
I put dryer lint inside toilet paper tubes, sometimes with a few dry Pine needles and pine tar or dried sap. It’s a great fire starter and I love recycling!

Oh, I love non-fiction too! My favorite genre is adventure, people who overcome/survive the unthinkable. I think those of us who have done exactly that, or lived very adventurous lives, better relate to people who have lived and experienced the same. LOVE you and your videos. By the way, when it comes to peeing and pooing in the woods, dig a hole (it doesn't have to be big) where you've chosen to go and when done bury everything, paper included. Also have a sanitary way to wash hands.

I can visualize recreating your “vibe” (independent, fun-loving, capable woman) in a clothing and accessories line: the wool felt hat, long feather earrings, jeans with long sleeves plaid shirt (rolled up to 3/4 length), with leather, knee-high wrap boots, flyaway hair braids and no makeup.
