I am just learning the F18, and have shot a few rounds from the cannon, but I am enjoying just flying around the different maps. I enjoy replays in VR, I can just sit back and enjoy a previous flight in VR, it's a really cool way to show friends and family the coolness of DCS without them haveing to control anything just enjoy the flight.

Hi, I loved your enthusiasm. Landing a spitfire varies depending on the mark, but generally, with engine assisted - about 85 to 90 mph, IAS should do it.

Awesome video! Really love the way you presented this piece. A tip for landing spitfire though, land nose down and let the aft end lower to the ground on its own, when slowing down after touch down. That way you have visual on landing safely. Basically, landing is similar to take off but in reverse.

  • @TubeAhalin

Wonderful. Pick a point on the horizon as you take off (or a cloud if they are not moving too fast) and during final approach to keep the plane aligned. As you get low, use peripheral vision to help with the glide slope. If you get to know the airport, you will have a feel for the layout of it, the fences, the hangars, etc, so you know how far you are from the ground and the threshold.

In order to see better, side-slip the a/c. Add power as side-slipping increases rate of descent. Wing dow-top rudder. It's used all the time to get down to altitude quickly. Also good practice for cross-wind approaches/landings.

Nice flyin and vid man. You should increase your vertical camera height and maybe move back a tiny bit so you could see out the front better. If I was you, using VR(which i dont have yet, i wanted a quest 3 till i heard you talking about eye tracking lol now I have to research that 😆) in that specific plane I'd prolly be sticking my head out the side of the canopy during takeoff and maybe landing to see better perhaps, thx VR 😆. Steeper approach will help. Throttle back full flap gear down. Flare to a 3 point landing at the very end. Can maintain a visual with the runway this way. Can also sideslip but it increases your workload. The long low approach you had screwed it all up. Also, ease on the throttle when taking off. You don’t need to get to 100%. You’ll be fighting torque all the way otherwise.

Hi, never set the altimeter to 0 ft (sealevel)!!! The altimeter is set to the airfield altitude. This allows you to better estimate the altitude when landing at an airfield that is not the same as the one you took off from. Changes in the weather change the altitude display value, which results in a shift in the zero point. When landing at an unfamiliar airfield, the required air pressure is received by radio and is then set on the altimeter. The geographical altitude above sealevel should always be known. 😉

You really need to keep on top of the rudder a LOT more than you do. I would not let you go solo with those lazy feet!! And standard approach in Spitfire is curved to deal with the lack of vision over the cowl. Do NOT sideslip Spitfire or Hurricane with flaps down, the fuselage blanketing of airflow over the tailplane will cause the nose-down pitch of the flaps to exceed the nose-up pitch of the elevator and you will bunt the aeroplane nose-first into the ground!

Doubt you read these anymore but maybe someone can tell me. Is this just the VR headset and hand controllers? Or is this going thru a home computer? If hand sets that one with VR headset how did you not move your hands on the screen to switch everything on and prime fuel, etc? Is there a manual that comes with the headset game or computer game. How to buy something like that? What all I need? How do you operate the rudder pedals do you hv a set hooked up, I woukd like to have actual rudder pedals and like real flying but I’m computer stupid in 63 and computers scare me I only hv iPhone

Hi Steve, Thank you! And I do read the comments sometimes!
It is great to see your enthousiasm.
I am playing this with the Meta Quest 3 Headset. I link the Headset to a computer so I can play the game 'DCS - Digital Combat simulator - through my headset. Do know that you need a very strong computer to play DCS in VR.
Besides connecting the VR headset to my computer i do have a HOTAS - Joystick. During the time of recording i did not have rudder pedals. I did everything with the hotas. I use the mouse to click on the buttons in the cockpit.
Let me know if you need any help. You can always e-mail me at info@lauboxvr.com

Thanks so much, I am fixing to buy a computer but was thinking a laptop. Laptops aren’t powerful enough are they. What memory do I need 16mb or 32mb and I don’t know what the power part of a computer is called lol. I been ratholing money I hv enough to buy a really nice set of feet controls & joystick and thrusters for other games when needed like jets. I will research computers and strength memory etc. as well headsets I guess that o e you have is one of the nicest I can’t go 1,000 for headset, but we’ll see gonna take me a while to get it all I’m guessing especially by myself oh what horror! I would really like to have a game or individual planes like Coursair F-4u, P-40, Mustang, good in depth B-17 game, also gonna need a basic idiot program to teach me to be better flyer. What woukd really be cool is to have the actual cockpit to o e of those places in my shop and all set up on a high speed pressure actuators and that would do everything but a loop abs some company is coming out with a 360 degree moving rotating cockpit or chair you climb into strap in. And suppose to be nearly 360 degree look around screen all way around you. Made especially for aircraft gaming but bet it’s gonna cost thousands thanks too old to get that far into it

@@laubox I'm going for the Meta Quest 3, since i've been waiting for a later VR headset release with good FOV and resolution. I guess i can tweak the settings if the view get's shakey, but i probably don't have to worry about that. More videos with different aircraft (Like the f14, which i fly) Would be fun to see with the use of the Meta Quest 3. 👍

If you do not use a FFB Stick for the WWII Models in DCS, you miss at minimum half of the simulation! 😁And it also looked, as if you had some settings not on full sim and the setting under special "take off assist" and "autorudder" needs both to be set to 0 / off! With everything set to sim, it is even a lot harder to fly the WWII birds... but i like it as realistic as possible! 😁

    • @Marco-gx7ok
      @Marco-gx7ok Місяць тому

@@BH-ro4ly The Problem is, there are only older ones, expensive ones or self build kits. I just bought an old nearly not used but "used" Logitech G940 System, so you still can have look and find a working old one. I had the luck to get it for 100 Euros. Another Option is the old Microsoft Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback, which is only a stick and you can find it for under 60 sometimes. I would have to look for the names of the new systems, but there are only a few and I havent tried them. There are also different DIY concepts, which you can build from the base or where you can order all ready spare parts or the finished System. I might search it at the weekend, when I am at my home-PC again!

A relatively new PC with at least a 70 class card.. (3070, 4070, etc.) with an 80 class preferred. I run a 3080 but if I had to it to do over I'd go with a 4080 for DLSS 3 support (they weren't out yet when I did my build). Then you'll need a Quest 2 or Quest 3 or similar HMD. If you know what you have currently I can tell you what you'll need to upgrade to, or add on, etc.
