@@Xezlec Yeah but can you make it so literally pressing up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-b-a triggers something? Because this theoretically can, in a really janky way.
ceave, the real randomization is in the magikoopa spell, if you make a mini cage with a magikoopa in tracks and a brick block (the cage is made of ground) you can control the outputs asing the enemies and items that magikoopa transforms using the brick block , the outputs can be: coin, green koopa troopa, red koopa troopa, goomba, yum-yum mushrooms, 1up mushrooms, beetle, . and the enemies can activate a number of note blocks: goomba, mushroom, 1up mushroom, green koopa troopa, beetle:can activate 2 noteblocks because they can fall; red koopa troopa:activates only one noteblock because it doesnt falls; coin:it activates none because it doesnt moves.
Here's a cool trick (people have probably found this out, but too bad) I plan on using for a level: in the Ghost House / Underwater Night Time themes, if you place an On / Off switch in the level and turn it to "Off", the lights around objects will dim. Mario's light radius is usually 7 blocks long by 7 blocks wide, but when in "Off" mode, it lowers to 4 blocks long by 4 blocks wide! For your 'surprise mechanics' it would be very interesting to see if there are more seeds that send the coin to the right than the left or vice versa. And if there is a low amount of seeds (2 for example) then manipulation could create a seemingly impossible stage, where you have to try and get the right result repeatedly.
Loot Boxes need to be bought with real money from the real world in real life, while surprise mechanics are just mechanics of the game. That are randomized and do NOT need to be paid for.

Interesting, day one of mariomaker 2 I was messing around with tech from Mariomaker one and was very interested in the randomizes. I decided to make a level based on the core idea of it but I couldn’t get anything to work so I kept toying around with different things and I finally seemed to get a randomized outcome when I linked a bob-omb randomizes to Mario’s input via question mark block that hit a shell into the block below the muncher. This seamed to produce a randomized outcome using Mario’s as the input and not something premade like a spring on a track. I didn’t understand how this worked with only Mario’s input but I get it know. Thanks ceave!
Does this mean u can make basicly impossible levels, Of course it's not impossible but u could make it so u have to do perfect inputs. OH NO IM GIVING THEM IDEAS
@@Uforianer for EVERYTHING else to not work you would need more and more randomization. say there is 100 seeds (there is more) if we add 1 randomizer then 50 seeds go one way and 50 another. even if all inputs left right up down move jump spin whatever changed to a completly different seed than eachother (which might not be true say left and jump move the seed the same amount) you would need to randomize enough to ensure that all movements a player can do without dieing end up with their own unique seed. then design a level around that. while not impossible per say their is a lot of limiting factors and if theirs any way to change your seed that cant be controlled a player may use the wrong inputs but end up on the correct seed to progress.
LOL i spent the day figuring out the new RNG for clown kart randomizers and making a level around only to find the answer after i'm done uploading it xD Keep up the good work Ceave! Here's another example of the clown kart randomizer being used in 2 instances to give a random outcome and changing the level layout S4M-NTY-9RG. Have fun!
so what you're saying is... People could make a huge randomizer, preform a bunch of inputs, check the results of the randomizer and make it so you can only beat a stage/dev skip it if you preform the same inputs. oh no (It could probably also be used as a password system too if you were able to convey the needed actions)
This video helped so much. I understood the input dependent rng part, but this video explained the more important parts of how the rng machines work. Hopefully some crazy stages will come out of smm2 similar to what the community made in the later years of smm

Does this mean u can make basicly impossible levels,
Of course it's not impossible but u could make it so u have to do perfect inputs.
OH NO IM GIVING THEM IDEAS
Ceave did mention that RNG manipulation is technically possilble because the seed always starts the same
@@Uforianer for EVERYTHING else to not work you would need more and more randomization. say there is 100 seeds (there is more) if we add 1 randomizer then 50 seeds go one way and 50 another. even if all inputs left right up down move jump spin whatever changed to a completly different seed than eachother (which might not be true say left and jump move the seed the same amount) you would need to randomize enough to ensure that all movements a player can do without dieing end up with their own unique seed. then design a level around that.
while not impossible per say their is a lot of limiting factors and if theirs any way to change your seed that cant be controlled a player may use the wrong inputs but end up on the correct seed to progress.
@@Zalied by the way, it's "per se" not "per say".
LOL i spent the day figuring out the new RNG for clown kart randomizers and making a level around only to find the answer after i'm done uploading it xD
Keep up the good work Ceave!
Here's another example of the clown kart randomizer being used in 2 instances to give a random outcome and changing the level layout S4M-NTY-9RG. Have fun!
so what you're saying is... People could make a huge randomizer, preform a bunch of inputs, check the results of the randomizer and make it so you can only beat a stage/dev skip it if you preform the same inputs.
oh no
(It could probably also be used as a password system too if you were able to convey the needed actions)
This video helped so much. I understood the input dependent rng part, but this video explained the more important parts of how the rng machines work. Hopefully some crazy stages will come out of smm2 similar to what the community made in the later years of smm
Ceave : thats no lootbox, that is a surprise mechanic
Memers : it's not subscribing it's surprise following
You made my day with the surprise mechanic joke.
A few months ago, you had an idea for an impossible level to be uploaded, or at least very very hard. Well I have made a level from the knowledge of this video where you do a combination of inputs to finish the level!
Can you figure out the code?
VTF-L25-HVG
(Edit: updated id due to cheese)
This is so great. Thanks so much for posting!
Kinda sad how SMM 2 got rid of some things, like the usual randomization methods, and editing downloaded courses.
Randomization doesn't make a big difference to me, but editing downloaded courses does. Nintendo should be like Valve: be more open-source.
Probably that lucky draw level that got publicity. Nintemdo doesnt want the game to be known for being solely luck based.
Now that's really neat! I was even able to build an (almost) impossible level with this mechanic: 8J1-B9G-2GF
Wow, you upload very frequenly now, I like it,
Will you do Mushroom Kingdom championship 2019?
i actually laughed out loud at "mario just died" followed by an immediate jumpcut to happy mario sunshine music
In all seriousness though, try to minimize how much the RNG affects the actual difficulty of the level.
I just love this channel, you make good ideas and create a kind of story out of it, and then show the way he did he very simply.
That intro though... "Button presses are used to calculate RNG, but if you dont press buttons you dont have randomness so how do you get randomness!?"

Watching these mechanics play out is so fun to see. And your story telling is so funny and charming! Your game design is on point!! 😊😊😊
Thank you for uploading this. It helped me create my Battle Royale inspired level. I wanted reandomized items, and had no idea how to do it. Thank you!
Course ID: 75J-G6F-WMG "GOOMBAttle Royale"
Wow! Thank you ceave! I’ve been getting into mario maker and tried making randomizers, but couldn’t. This helps out myself and surely a lot of other people! Thank you!
