Origami King is absolutely better than Sticker Star and Color Splash but the story and creativity is just not even close to the level of Paper Mario 64, Thousand Year Door, or Super Paper Mario.
I always engage battles to just hear this music, I literally solve the puzzle and then stop for like 1-2 minutes at the "Choose weapon" screen to just listen to the music
This is what I like about origami king. Not only the battle theme is a bop, but the game doesn't say you have to battle enemies, but you are rewarded for doing so, and unlike the last 2 games, the reward is actually quite nice as you can buy treasures and in game passes (royalty pass), as well as weapons. And even though you could do that in Sticker Star and Color Splash, it's more rewarding in Origami King as the attacks last a little bit longer
The game straight up GIVES you an invisibility cloak. It's like saying "Oh, you think battles are pointless? See how you like it when you NEVER HAVE to do them, then you'll change your mind!"
I already loved this at times where the game wasnt out yet. And the fact that this amazing piece of music isnt even the best normal battle theme this game has to offer really speaks for itself.

I suppose in Mario's case it's because the people/monsters in question are, for the most part, cute creatures that're otherwise docile and harmless when not ordered to hurt him. Goombas _can_ be pretty sweet when they're actually on his side, after all.

I’m so torn. I love nearly every other battle theme in the series and despite never having played this game, my nostalgia for the TTYD battle music makes me want to say that that’s my favorite. Despite that, I almost objectively think that this is the best one of them all.
You can say about the new games what you want, but you DEFINETELY can't deny that they didn't do anything wrong with the new music direction. I love how jazzy and funky it is and that it's played in-studio!
I can't really say anything for the people who miss the XP system of this series, I do not understand you. The mainline Mario games never used that mechanic anyways. I like to think that the series really living up to the "Paper" name was a step in the right direction. Plus, this game has a much better character/boss cast like some of the older games.

@@lambda-9000 it already has RPG mechanics:turns,strategies,items with duration(can break if you use too much),money mechanics,upgrades(hearts),colectibles that help you in battle(toads),and a good battle sistem,secret ending for 100% completion and partner mechanics for each world(Bobby,Scavenger toad,kamek,Bowser Junior,also R.I.P Bobby)and puzzles
anyone else feel like collecting/equipping weapons and having them have a durability level is better than collecting one-time use moves in an album actually there could be more than a hammer and jump, and allies should have a bigger purpose, but yeah this is Good Game
