So this is what Super Paper Mario was really talking about when the whacka bump description says "how do you sleep at night?" It's not to make you feel bad its to give you a warning about their vengeance and power.
I like how in the fight that stage hazards have their chances cranked up to give him some bumps to use, really feels like he's using the gimmicks of the game against you for the final test.
Exactly while Mario CAN have 180 to 200 HP AT LV 99 even that MUCH HP it can do in 1 turn so yes either super guard or you can STILL die EVEN AT LV 99 with 180 to 200 HP on Mario.
I mean it’s still Paper Mario TTYD, where Power Rush/Mega Rush exists. But the fact that otherwise you have to actually get good at Superguards or die is hilarious. I mean, I really like it. It makes Floor 100 feel satisfying, because it’s not impossible, you just gotta bring your A game.
Not to mention it's got a sense of finality, considering this is the toughest battle in the game, and, from a progression standpoint, the last thing to do in the game.
@@Dg-lp1vt Whacks was featured as a optional boss in the Paper Mario 64 romhack called Dark Star Edition, Whacka was made like the Dojo masters where you can challenge him multiple times with progressively increased difficulty (with Whack becomes more violent as you gave him more brain damage eqch time he was whacked), in the final form of Whacka, there's even a pile of dead dry bones corpse laying around, showing that Whacka ain't f around no more. @@dustymcwari4468 Yeah, the scrapped attack from Paper Mario 64 was very basic, which makes since considering in that game Partners didn't even have their own HP. Plus it was scrapped, not fully explored. But for this superboss? They knew how to make it more Whacka-specific in a very cool way
The way Whacka acts here makes me believe that the only reason Whacka was upset about being hit before is because: A) He wasn't in the mood to play, or-- B) He knows that Mario isn't playing with him. Whacka doesn't seem to mind getting hit as long as it's part of a game. Whackas live in remote locations, so they seem to prefer being alone most of the time. I wonder if they're even close to extinct, or if they all just went into hiding because of how often people would bother them.

you attacka your last whacka
Whacka has his own personal choir, let that sink in
I like how in the fight that stage hazards have their chances cranked up to give him some bumps to use, really feels like he's using the gimmicks of the game against you for the final test.
it also SPECIFICALLY counters peril strats
That is unless you equip all the lucky badges and somehow avoid 3 stage hazards
I can't be the only one who notice the stage hazard chances went up a good amount for this battle specifically.
I didn’t see any stage hazards because I killed him in 4 turns
Including the super rare ones; I've seen Bowser Statue and Meteor happen back-to-back towards the lower half of his health.
@@SuperInkLinksame, I didn't even know there was a bowser statue hazard until this game decided to teach me the hard way
They're based on a mole for a reason: To bury you six feet under.
6 feet? Try 100 floors under, which I'm pretty sure would each be above 6 feet in height per floor!

'Superguard or die :))))))))))))))'
Exactly while Mario CAN have 180 to 200 HP AT LV 99 even that MUCH HP it can do in 1 turn so yes either super guard or you can STILL die EVEN AT LV 99 with 180 to 200 HP on Mario.
I never got to see the 27 damage when I fought him. I charged Mario until I got a +34 bonus and killed him with power bounce.
Prince Mush: Laughs in 100 damage in one attack
I mean it’s still Paper Mario TTYD, where Power Rush/Mega Rush exists. But the fact that otherwise you have to actually get good at Superguards or die is hilarious. I mean, I really like it. It makes Floor 100 feel satisfying, because it’s not impossible, you just gotta bring your A game.
I love how this manages to thread the needle of being extremely epic and extremely goofy.
Not to mention it's got a sense of finality, considering this is the toughest battle in the game, and, from a progression standpoint, the last thing to do in the game.
I didn't know Nintendo cared about Paper Mario 64 romhacks.
Context?
@@Dg-lp1vt Whacks was featured as a optional boss in the Paper Mario 64 romhack called Dark Star Edition, Whacka was made like the Dojo masters where you can challenge him multiple times with progressively increased difficulty (with Whack becomes more violent as you gave him more brain damage eqch time he was whacked), in the final form of Whacka, there's even a pile of dead dry bones corpse laying around, showing that Whacka ain't f around no more.
Basically, the community had meme on for years that what if Whacka is a superboss.
And now that idea had becomes official.
apparently whacka was supposed to be either a boss or if you hit him enough times, it'd trigger a fight in pm64 but was never added anyway
So then, THEY DECIDED TO ADD HIM LATER IN THE REMAKE AS A PURPOSE "I think we should save this for later" OR "Huh... I didn't expect it to be a meme. You know what? Let's add Whacka as a boss in this remake I suppose" THEN?!?
So then... THEY DECIDED TO ADD HIM YEARS LATER?!?
I'd believe history books were wrong and Whacka was the one who sealed the Shadow Queen
It was Whacka and Mush time-traveling to the past and wrecking the Shadow Queen's shit, creating a time loop
and he used the 7 special star shaped Wack-a bums
When the bullying victim finally snaps
He really couldn't take that abuse anymore
He weaponized it

0:10 That guitar riff tho!!!!!!! That's the very last thing I would personally expect to hear in any of the Mario games (Super Mario Odyssey being the only exception).
If your taking about heavy metal songs it’s kind of modern paper Mario’s thing.
This is like if all the Paper Mario 64 romhacks became canon... All those whacka boss fights are REAL NOW
It seems like they're inspired to make it official, even it's kinda because it was scraped as far as I heard
Though the execution is pretty different, the rom hacks are usually just an angy ungodly buffed Whacka going berserk
This one is Whacka punishing you for every bump you do to him, so much that he attacks himself if there's not enough bumps on the field to throw at you
Yep, b it I would love to see it more harder in the official
What's next, a sex mod becomes canon?
@@dustymcwari4468 Yeah, the scrapped attack from Paper Mario 64 was very basic, which makes since considering in that game Partners didn't even have their own HP. Plus it was scrapped, not fully explored. But for this superboss? They knew how to make it more Whacka-specific in a very cool way
The way Whacka acts here makes me believe that the only reason Whacka was upset about being hit before is because:
A) He wasn't in the mood to play, or--
B) He knows that Mario isn't playing with him.
Whacka doesn't seem to mind getting hit as long as it's part of a game. Whackas live in remote locations, so they seem to prefer being alone most of the time.
I wonder if they're even close to extinct, or if they all just went into hiding because of how often people would bother them.
They do seemingly get brain-damaged from getting hit though, so idk
I wasn't expecting a cute little blue mole to have one of the most badass themes in the entire game lol
This sounds like a M&L boss theme in the best way possible.
ENDANGERED? MORE LIKE IN DANGER 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mario: *"Hehe, i'm in danger."*
“Me, endangered? Buddy, I am the danger.”
~Whacka, probably
“I am not in danger Mario, I am the danger. A guy comes down to the Pit of 100 Trials and hits you on the head with a hammer and you think that of me? No, I am the one who whacks”.
Paper Mario should absolutely get more joke boss fights like this one. I also love how incredibly secret its requirements are, really reminds me of the typical "yo, have you heard about the super secret level in Mario World where you can get the laser suit?" school gaming rumors, only that it's ACTUALLY real lol
It's also incredibly interesting how BOTH the Prince Mush AND Whacka battles are basically inspired/taken from Paper Mario mods in some way
I believe paper mario created a new genre,goofy metal/rock.
I didn't know I needed this in my life
It's insane how this is actually canon. I'm waiting for more super-intense joke battles in upcoming games.

Me: Phew, bonetail was a pretty hard boss!
Me after finding whacka: aight ima head out
I managed to remain unspoiled on this theme until I got to fight Whacka for myself, and oh my god I am so glad I did
I was laughing so hard when this Dark Souls-sounding theme suddenly just turned into the goofiest song I've ever heard
See, when Don Pianta tells you you're gonna get whacked.
You best believe he means it, and he knows a guy.
I suddenly need to see Mafia Whacka.
I can't believe they made a Whacka boss fight, it fits so much how wacky Paper Mario as a franchise is loool
Good thing Whacka is just having fun. If he got mad, he may be impossible to beat.
Wacka: So, you want Wacka Bumps, do ya?
Mario: Uh...
Wacka: By all means, take all the bumps you want. And then some!
Goombella on Bonetail: She's probably stronger than the last boss, seriously!
Whacka: Hold my bump.
It was cool to see Whacka being realized as an actual superboss after learning that he was cut from the position in Paper Mario 64. This battle was tough, but it was also quite fun. The idea of this silly guy actually being super strong is quite funny, especially seeing what he does to make more bumps. Also I can't be the only one who noticed that the stage hazards were way more active here than in any other battle prior.
The whacka warned you... But you didn't listen!
This is the greatest plot twist of all time.
I never thought in my life I'd hear Heavy Metal in a Mario game, but here we are. GODDAMN this track slaps

0:10 Champion Cynthia intensifies. He has 108 HP, just like the 108 Souls inside Spiritomb…
It's also an important number in Eastern religions like Hinduism and Buddhism. In Buddhism, there are said to be 108 worldly desires and afflictions that people must overcome to achieve enlightenment and reach nirvana, and in both religions, you recite mantras using necklaces called malas that have 108 beads.
I think spiritomb is 107, but it's really close.
@@NickStepB Nope, both its defenses are 108

Nintendo: and make Power Bounce, Multibonk and Ground Pound detrimental.
Devs: Mother of god
From endangered species to "endangering species".
I really find the idea of Whacka actually having enough of the abuse that he fights back so cool and funny.
He's not just endangered he IS the dangered
...They're actually going to make Whacka a superboss?! I thought that was just supposed to be a joke!
Whacka deserves to be a super boss. He’s suffered so much abuse over the years. The day he finally snaps and whacks Mario is long, LONG overdue.
Whacka was originally meant to be encountered in the first Paper Mario game, so it’s actually really cool seeing the idea (sorta) brought back to life.
@@cowboyluigi5275You mean, as a boss? Because I'm certain that Whacka is in fact in Paper Mario 1, in Mt. Rugged

the 2 super bosses having heavy master quest inspiration is so cool to see esp in ttyd
also fuckin hilarious how like a day before this game came out I said in a discord vc “what if whacka was a secret boss” then 6 days later I get here
The fact it starts out like a FromSoft boss’ theme is amazing. I’m glad Whacka decided to hurt the new generation for our sins
I love how he has a sort of built in detriment to trying to Power Bounce him. You really want to hit him that many times in a row and make that many Bumps?
power bounce, vivian
Then he heals for 75 with red bumps which have a higher chance of appearing due to power bounce.
I actually used hammerman and pierce hammer to attack...I'm not good at Power Bounce, fortunately in this case.
@@joshcoy6748 wait did we need pierce hammer? I don't remember Whacka having a lot of Defense. I used Hammerman because of the culture (You hit Whacka with a Hammer, not with a Jump) and used a lot of Power Smash.
@@JoelTheParrot probably didn't need the pierce hammer, but it seemed like a better thing to use over jumping, which would hit him twice, I stopped using the power smash long ago because I thought it because redundant with piercing attacks...or so I thought.
Fun fact: He was supposed to be an enemy in the first Paper Mario, glad to see he got to fight after 20 years lol

Imagine a superboss fight against that cragnon who gave you that block puzzle code
And it would be a turn-based fight.
@@SillierPuttyno
I don’t want Super Paper Mario to be turn based, if you don’t like the gameplay you should prefer improvements rather than replacing, Super Paper Mario is my favorite game, and if the bosses were turn based they would not be as fun, it is designed to be unique, so saying it should be turn based like the others is like saying any Mario and Luigi game after the first should replace the new characters to play as with just Mario and Luigi, variety is good, and I’m afraid we are going to enter an era where every game is just TTYD, taking out the parts of variety I liked from the newer games
@@anthonyoliver418 Oh, no, that's not what I'm saying. Super Paper Mario is my favorite game too. I'm just saying that it would be funny if the Whacka fight was sort of like the Underchomp battle.

I like how this theme sounds like a mix of a Dark Souls fight yet also sounds like a fun boss from a Mario & Luigi game
Finally! a Whacka that has had enough of getting whacked for bumps, this guy learned how to use his own bumps as a weapon and an effective one at that, as well as a healing aid.
I just beat this guy and I kid you not he lived on 1 HP from my attack before proceeding to kill himself using the stage.
What an experience, what a game.

The goofy ahh synth I cant 💀
I love this so much
A revenge decades in the making...
Whacka getting its long deserved revenge?
I guess so! This took me so off guard!
This fight is proof that they 100% payed attention to the modding scene. If Magolor Soul Phase 3 and Prince Mush weren’t proof enough.
I mean this gimmick isn’t actually that different from some of the bosses in The Origami King. Stapler uses an ammo gimmick where every hit on it depleted its ammo.
It’s not exactly the same thing but you can tell it’s made by the same people that designed bosses in the Origami King.
It uses similar logic of items (or Wacka’s in this case) abilities and makes a boss battle out of those abilities
this is genius secret final boss tbh. They couldn't have done better with just the random Whacka character and Prince Mush
