Thanks for watching!
I recently took my first flight at the age of 43. Now Im obsessed with planes.
I've always loved flying.
You're perfectly safe. Your drive to the airport is the most dangerous part of flying. Statistically speaking.
I've seen so many turbulence videos where there's barely any turbulence but this looks like the real deal. What an ominous looking sky to take off into.
The wing flex blows my mind.
Good old carbon fiber.
I could almost feel that turbulence, did look like it was pretty bumpy. The view of the mountains afterwards was breath taking. 😮
You can see the Lenticular clouds as they taxi to the runway. You know it is going to be rough. Lenticular clouds are the strongest, most dangerous turbulence associated with a mountain wave is on the lee side of the mountain in and under rotor clouds
We have a pilot in the comments! 😁
Dangerous? As in dangerous to fly in?
@@MacrossJetProbably not a pilot because then he would have said it was convective turbulence due to a recent series of thunderstorms raging through the area. No lenticular clouds to be seen at all. What you are seeing in this video is thunderstorm leftovers. Check cloud top images from this date, there was a rather strong weather system coming in from the west coast.
By the way, this video shows continuous light to occasional moderate chop. According to my experience, lee waves cause turbulence and not chop.
At 7:28 I would be getting out my prayer hanky and screaming, "Jesus take the wheel!!!" Lord I hate turbulence during take off it always unnerves me.
It’s really not that bad. I work on planes and make sure the wing stays attached.
@@danielrapkin2178 ROTFL!!! Fabulous.
Turbulence scares the ever living crap out of me even though rationally I know the plane can handle it. This is why I can’t fly without Ativan.
Turbulence was fun when I was a kid. Not so much anymore.
I'm fixing to be flying in two weeks, from Houston to the Philippines .I wish I had some Ativan. It's hard to get now
Good thing to remember, turbulence alone has never once downed a plane. Other weather phenomena such a microburst yes, but pilots have detection systems to avoid storms that could contain those. Planes are made with withstand many many times the amount of turbulence you’ll ever see in normal flight, such as in this video. It can be uncomfortable I know, and I have family who’s absolutely terrified of it. But hopefully knowing it literally isn’t possible for turbulence to cause a major issue will help! Also, just think about the planes that fly right into the eye of hurricane and are fine. Try not to fear it if at all possible!
@@ATLPtrk Yeah, but the turbulence is often a harbinger of some really bad weather systems ahead. And I've seen enough stories about pilots who didn't do well in bad weather, like that Air France flight over the Atlantic.
I think of the wings just snapping off.
737 MAX?! You lived to tell about it!
It’s really the max 9 they are worried about
@@Nunyobidne55idk even their engineers mentioned issues with 8 and said they wouldn’t get on a max, period. Should say enough 😵💫
@@arriannataylor222 I didn’t know that. I flew on a Max 8 this week….so much more room than the 700 series. It’s a shame that Boeing has let this get out of control
That view of the Rockies and Utah Lake couple of minutes in.. 👍 👍
Great Salt Lake. Utah Lake is south in Provo
7:13 definitely the highlight. :) Thanks for posting. KSLC can definitely be adventurous.
that was a fantastic takeoff!
Awesome video!
Great scenery, great video.
Great video and great view!
That didnt look terrible and no one was screaming but still i would rather not be on that flight. Beautiful city though! WOW!
People scream in flights?? 😨
Awesome engine view and a great departure, liked ;)
Great video. Have never been to the States. Greetings from Germany. Happy New 2024.
The best view 😍
Good chop on climbout...no different than departing out of KLAS, KDEN, KPHX or other airports near the mountains with weather in the area
This video Reminds me of my flight home from St. Louis to Columbus ohio in September. We hit bad turbulence over north-central Indiana
I give it to all those pilots.. you gotta love it..
Some pretty hard bounces alright .
That's quite a loud whine that the LEAP-1s produce at high power setting.
love the engine whine!
Breezy!
Our mountains here in Utah are gorgeous. One of the best reasons to live here.
Love the 7:09 mark where they start heading into the clouds.
Nice Shoot! No Zooming All Around. Steady. Very Scenic..
Thanks!
Few airports in the world have the beautiful views that SLC has.
I have family in SLC. It is a beautiful area.
We flew into Dallas Forth Worth...in a boeing 747 through a mini tornado.... Wow.. you should see the wings flex then!!!! 😱😱Drinks hit the ceiling etc.
When you are on one of those max planes, turbulence is least of worries
Why’s that? I don’t know anything about them
I am a nervous flyer and terrified of turbulence but this didn’t look THAT bad. A lot of shimmying yes but not crazy
Lol that was pretty strong look at the flex of the wing
Sadly the Max 8 does not come with the “complimentary sightseeing door plug” that on occasion allows you to see your surroundings unobstructed with unfiltered air.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes sad indeed, lol.
Took off from Orlando in a storm one time as the wheels went up a lightning bolt hit very close and shook the plane in the air and the turbulence was crazy... I thought.. wow this is how I checkout of life... plane crash.. crazy experience!
Glad you’re okay!
I would be bricking myself on that thing!
What is the opposite of turbulence? Calm? In fluid dynamics, laminar flow is the opposite of turbulent flow.
The wings sre designed to flex like that. Thats what keeps the plane from taking damage
I always hate that point where you're flying through the clouds. After hundreds of a flights as a passenger (between Winnipeg and Vancouver) I noticed that, for some reason, the descents into Vancouver tend to be rough when going directly over Hope and you're flying between mountain ranges. They tend to be easier though when going above the mountains just north of the area.
I've lived in Vancouver my whole life and flown to SLC and over SLC numerous times. SLC has way worse turbulence than the Lower Mainland (GVRD) does
“The Book of Morbulence”
Is it always bumpy taking off from their
Flew in and out of SLC hundreds of times, it’s turbulent there a lot. The views are a great distraction from it.
I hate flying..I hate turbulence 😩
Always bumpy in that bowl.
At least they were honest about it being a crummy takeoff.
Man on a Embraer 175 going from dallas to mcallen we hit the worst turbulence any of us have felt.
Nice Capture! can i use this as part of my video? you will be credited in the desc and vid! 👍
Sure! Thank you for asking
Is this the one where the door plug blows out 😆
It doesn't sound like the engines are in full power ... maybe a bad audio track!
Not bad at all.
Say whatever you will, but Boeing knew how to design a wing.
Too bad they can’t properly bolt a safety door.
Yeah, no s..t.
Scenery is phenomenal. I'd like to ask, why does the engine whine at a different pitch around 7m30s?
Sounds like thrust was increased for a brief moment, perhaps to counteract the turbulence.
turbulence is so scary. i had no problems flying for decades until one bad flight and I haven't flown since...this stinks :(
I hope you have the chance to fly again and find it enjoyable! I know it can be rough sometimes.
love the 737, hate turbulence. I know they have de-icing capability aboard aircraft, where they flip a switch and de-ice the leading edge of the wings. Question: why don't the flight crew turn on the de-turbulence switch and smooth out the ride? You would think something as modern as the 737-MAX would have that option.
They do its called a yaw damper
@@Lappillainen Don't worry! These Maxes have the MCAS - I think they've told the pilots about them now!
@@annalytic😮 I’m a fearful flyer that’s not funny. I purposely try not to book on those flights. But I have been one the Max 8 Chicago ORD to
Denver and they are nice
Any idea what direction they are flying and what the brown, expansive feature is around the 7:50 mark? I'm sure desert, but where?
The Southwest flight is taking off heading north. That's Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake at 7:50.
We took off to the south, made a turn to head north and then east to go over the mountains.
What turbulence???
What turbulence?
The terrain can cause a bumpy ride out of SLC
The flight attendants scared the crap out of me and I wasn't even on this flight.
I wouldn't get on one of those planes.
Neither would I - ever.
This doesn't look like turbulence to me🤔 I'm missing something?
RWY 16L
Correct! Thanks for watching 👍
Which seat was this?
Betweeen rows 3-5, I don’t remember exactly
Southwest flight
WHY IS THE TITLE YELLING AT ME??
Anyone noticed that they’re going up on full power nearly the whole time ?
Hes flying southwest or JetBlue thats my best guess
That’s correct! - Southwest
Definitely SW as JetBlue don't have the Max8
Why MCAS not activated
why would anybody fly on this airplane?
Max * (ugh), lucky it didn't fly itself into the ground.
This was nothing.. a little shaky. Mild turbulence at most
Ive flown all over the world & the plane dropped suddenly over the Atlantic coming back to states from Germany. Dishes fell out and broke, people were screaming. This takeoff looked pretty smooth.
Turbulent?
Yes turbulence, can you read or listen to what the stewards are saying?
I would not refer ro that as a Turbulent takeoff by any means.
Yeah bit of chop on way out due to the mountains but nothing crazy 😊
What turbulence ???
Oh shut up you'd be scared like a little girl
