the best way to not feel behind is to stop looking to the world for validation. Social Media and this constant GO Go fast pace lifestyle our modern world promotes perpetuates this sense of needing to keep pace with the most successful people in life. this is a sure path to suicide and or just depression. The fact is most people are self centered and always focused on themselves. No one will judge you for choosing your own path. Nobody cares and no one is watching. literally. People are too busy chasing their own personal goals and dreams. one should empty their mind like Bruce Lee and focus on their personal journey.
I've been landscaping for several years. It's not stressful, I paid off my entire home/land with this job. I like being outside at different places all the time. I save money from every check. It's warm almost all year here. People do not respect landscapers but other than that it's pretty much a tailor made job for me. Other jobs don't let you smoke and listen to music all day. I got an electrical degree but no....
That's what I do! Right now I do my own little job, so I can leave when I want and come when I want. Although I don't take advantage of that. I love being outside, and always felt that it wasn't good enough to live up to the typical standard (fast cars, big house, and so on) , but I make money that I'm comfortable with, and am healthy and I travel during the colder months. I'm glad you like it as well. Best of luck to you!
As someone which likes to make art too i want to tell u that i apreaciate landscapers more than any other artist. Because with only the space and the landscape u can express so much emotions and still feels easily to do it.
Everyone has their own pace to live in their life. Keep comparing with others will just make us more suffer, I guess. If you can always stay happy, that is the best success in your life. Cheers everyone!
I can tell you it's never too late to begin again! A man named Peter Drucker has written about the need for people to have 2-3 (or more) careers/jobs in a lifetime! Most people change & evolve--the person you are today isn't the same person you will be later. And life happens, too...it throws us events that demand our flexibility & creativity. Happens to ALL of us, at some point. It is a "given" that we need to adapt, because change is the one constant in the universe...whether we like it, or not! You might want to begin looking at your strengths & what you enjoy doing, for ideas. And meeting with a career counselor can be invaluable. Action is required on your part.
I do understand how you feel... Because I have the similar feeling when I stalk my friends or acquaintances in social media. many of them are married, some of them promoted as manager, some got their cute children and pretty wife and even some of them open their own company, I felt like I am far behind in life... ( -___- ) I understand the life that I admire, may not suitable to me. And my current life, can also be the target of many other people. Therefore, sometimes, I do ask myself " why am I so hesitate about other people's achievement? Why can't u treasure on what u have that many others unable to achieve? " A happy person isn't the one who owned so much, but the one who doesn't demand too much. This is the spirit that I have learnt. (-:
I'm a New Zealander who lived in Japan for nearly a decade. To me, life is about accepting its gifts and realising that everything is sacred in its way. Cheers.
Self-love is difficult, especially when you feel isolated and alienated within your own culture. I've struggled with this my whole life and, ironically, I learned to love myself more when I travelled to and lived in Japan for five years. Now that I'm back in Canada, I've found myself constantly battling with other people's expectations for how I should be, act, and live my life, which is both frustrating as well as disappointing (particularly since North Americans love to promote the virtues of "freedom", "liberty", and "individuality" as fundamental human rights). But I can't focus on this hypocrisy or my fear of what others might say or do in reaction to how I choose to live my own life. At the end of the day, as you said, I need to learn to love myself and feel comfortable and confident with my own choices in order to find a lasting sense of happiness. And the journey to self-love and acceptance starts by undoing all the negative, pessimistic, self-defeating narratives I've kept on repeat in my head for all these years. Thank you for reminding me of this through your video. :)
I am going through a similar struggle and I am actually quite surprised to hear that this social expectancy culture is also quite a thing in North America. I have lived in Germany all my life and thought it was classical German or at least European thing. I guess I really fell for the superficial "freedom, liberty and individuality" propaganda in the US cultural media discussion.. what really helped me was the structured approach of ACT therapy, maybe you want to look at it? Russ Harris has nice books about it, as well as a few youtube videos.

I was scrolling through UA-cam, and I saw your video. While you might not see this I want to say, Thank You. I struggle with being myself and trying for others approval. At times you feel as if you are the only one because it’s you. However, I just wanted to say thank you.
Terrific video. Wise beyond your years, young man.👏 Although I've not planned a "simple life" it's worked out very, very well for me to live it as MY life. What comes along I will take it although that is not to say I did not have goals and strive to meet them. You are so right with your take on social media like Instagram. I follow some of my younger friends and think, "Huh, I never got to post photos with my friends on the beach in my Speedos when I DID look like that" but what the heck, I had the same fun." Cheers. You are one of the very few subscriptions I have on UA-cam and I always look forward to your take on life. All the best. ‼️😊
Found your channel yesterday as it popped up. i was intrigued and watched, really enjoyed. Today, another video popped up and again I watched, definitely resonated with me as living in the US is all about getting ahead and unfortunately not seeing the beauty of ones self and life itself. I am subscribing.
Thank you for this video! Right now I still don't know what to do with my own life. I'm still learning to love myself and Boost my self-esteem. Sometimes I think to myself that life is boring and don't know what to do. Life is hard and it's not a game. You only to get to Live once in your life. Make the most of it full of happiness and joy and to help others that are in need. You never know when it will be your time to go. Sometimes I'm scared of life and may not make it through. 😕
excellent video Sena , this totally resonates with me , as I also feel very behind in life , and have suffered greatly for it but as you mentioned in your video it probably only is just in my head. Thanks again for the great content , I really enjoy your channel. For only being 25 I feel you are much further along in your journey within in realizing true happiness and self worth than many many other people around the world. Keep up the good work and just keep being you! :)
Feeling behind in life is a big topic for me - 6 years ago my life took a huge U-turn, as I was diagnosed with a chronic illness. Before that I was travelling a lot and I studied in Germany, Japan and the UK. Now I am pretty much stuck and try to figure out how to live my life the best way possible with my limited physical abilities. Life isn't easy - loving yourself is even harder. Thanks for your comforting videos! Greetings from Italy!
Omg, you are so on point when u mentioned that your culture or in my case, my upbringing, is to be deemed selfish if I think for myself before others. I am experiencing this struggle currently to learn more about self love. At times I punish myself subconsciously when I felt the guilt of not being able to please others or their expectations. Eventually, it pulls me down and allowed me to become this person with very low self-esteem and it is depressing. I am trying to pull myself out from all these negative mindset and it really isn't easy because that's how my life has been structured from at a very young age. Kudos to you if you've managed to turn things around for yourself alright. As for me, I'm trying to boost my self-confidence through doing things that I like/love and staying away from negativities as much as possible both internally and externally. At times I may be drawn back to those negative mindset then I had to try to climb out of it again and again. It's tiring but I have to do it. 😕 Thank you very much for this video, Sena 🙃✌
A very close friend of mine sent me this video. Thank you so much for your wisdom and insight ♥️ It really warmed my heart to know that I am not alone, and that others have felt lost too.
“Society praises you for fitting in” I can relate to this 100% as a Moroccan female living in the states by herself. Broke all the norms my conservative family is used to. But it’s worth it to me 💕
Society wants young people destroy them self for the older generations, single mums and theyr children or physically/ mentally deranged people. You can see the affects in west Europe and north American continent. Because we are ruled by babyboomers (45 to 65 age) who are in the lacking self efficacy life phase every day more and more the younger Gen have just to face baby boomers projections daily....
@@DonDeMarcoKarlsruhe Baby Boomers are not in that age range. You are only destroying yourself. You choose to allow people to have that power over you.
@@DonDeMarcoKarlsruhe Not entirely sure what you're getting at or where your ideas are coming from...but, you appear to need an attitude adjustment. For a happier life & better results, turn off all media spin doctors! You do know you're being brain-washed & manipulated by it, right? Because if they can get you to have fear & hatred for the "others" it increases their power. C'mon, Don...be a real man & think for yourself! And most of those "others?" They're just like you & me & all the rest...wanting a good life & doing the best they can to achieve it. You might want to stop blaming "society" for what you don't like-- because you're part of it. I don't know who wrote the following quote but, I believe it's probably true. "Your beliefs don't make you a better person, your behavior does." Have a good life.
I just wanna thanks Sena and other youtubers for making these kinds of videos and putting it online. It really helps me and I'm sure it helps lot of people too to look and reflect into our own lives.
Hey man, just found some of your videos and you seem like a really genuine and down to earth person. I'm an engineering uni student, constantly pressured to do good and have the perfect answer to every problem and formula, and pitted up against other students in rigorous classes no one wants to be in. It's been real hard not only to keep up and pay attention to classes, but also feel like a unique person with actual thoughts and feelings. UA-cam videos are one of the very few ways I have to express my humor and creativity, so I can somewhat sympathize in your struggle.,.. Seriously good luck to you man, keep it up. It's rare to just find someone who just speaks their own thoughts sometime.
Hi Sena, Just to let you know, I needed to hear this, especially today. Tried to make my family understand about what I truly felt with my current situation and their response just broke my heart. I thought they would be proud of how far I`ve come despite of all the sh*t I`ve been through (living overseas alone for 5 years). All my life I`ve been living by other people`s standards and one thing that I`ve always been scared of is failing and disappointing my family... And nothing hurts more than being judged by your own family 😭
When I view what you have to say, Sena, I often envision myself across from you, having an awfully thoughtful conversation. What you express is palpable, and I think your viewers truly appreciate your authenticity and willingness to be vulnerable. You’re a breath of fresh air.
You have a beautiful outlook of life. Could not agree more. To some, changing inner narrative is life-saving. We lost so many precious human becos they listened to and followed the junk from the society which is promoting unfair self-criticism and self-hatred, they were so crushed deep down that leaving this life is the only option.
Your content is very insightful & profound. For those who are ready to hear your message, you help them to feel more hopeful & less helpless!! In fact, your words are empowering & inspiring!! Thank you. I'm enjoying your videos!!
I found you a little while ago and have dropped in a few times. I love your journey in uncovering your authentic self and learning to love yourself. I will keep coming back to see what gems you have uncovered. Thank you very much
Thanks so much for this! :) This is something I needed to hear -- like someone saying, "it's okay, you're not alone." I find this comforting and insightful. Also, can I just say, you seem like the kind of guy who's very enjoyable to be around with, someone you can talk to about anything and gain insights after every conversation.
I have seen many of your videos and they alle have been inspiring to me, helping me to reflect me and my life. Especially how you speak, your voice, your easy to understand English for a native German speaker, the calmness of your vocals helps me to relax and follow your explanation. Thank you so much.
I absolutely love your podcast. For a 24 year old guy you are very wise. I've also noted because it's hard not to , how least self obsessed and no Narcissism you have compared with America where i live. All your episodes are sincere , honest and heartwarming.
I just looked at your video, Friday September 17, 2021, I TOTALLY get your vibe. You're on a swear level of consciousness. Thank you I needed to hear your words and they will not be in vain. Wow, this video... Simple. To the Point.
For those people who felt behind in life- you must truly define your purpose. Realize that you are a unique person with a unique mission. No one in this world is like you and there's no one will be exactly as you are. Let us appreciate our uniqueness or individuality no matter what your race, age, sex, gender, religion or ethnicity is.
You are very wise for your age and commend you for all your efforts to understand the truth of who you are. I'm on a similar journey, but didn't get this sort of wisdom until somewhat recently (in my forties now). I'm a hapa American, my grandparents were nisei and I still struggled similarly as you, with the culture I was brought up in of not loving myself and putting others before myself. Thanks for putting yourself out there on UA-cam. You are inspiring and helpful.
Thank you for this video Sena! Gonna share this with my 19YO son who is often affected by what he saw on social media, how much fun his friends were having and how left behind he felt. I hope he will learn to love himself more.
I have never knew a person who went through the same situation that i did, i as well quit my job that i had for several years and having a great position, and after that i felt totally lost and unworthy of everything, getting closer to my family helped me to maintain me sane and safe. You an i have so many similarities in how we see life and the philosophy that we need to have to walk this path, i will follow your journey hope we can reach out.
i'm 23 years old, poor family, weak body, introvert, insecure. But despite all these things, i've decide to chose this life. My wonderful ordinary live as great as everyones life. This universe is fullfilled with positive and negative energies, orden and chaos. It's clear that all matter is made by this energies, but is your mind who betray you sometimes for remaining in chaos. The best thing that I think i could do is to be focused on what really keeps me alive. The passion for living free, just enjoying the process of learning and curing my soul from all those negative energies. They'll be there always, but i'll be concentrated on keeping them aside of my real potencial. We can see, we can hear, and so on. Why just suffering for bullshit? Sorry for my English, I'm learning by watching your videos. Thank you!
Love the self-awareness! I totally agree about the self-love. I've witnessed that we can only love others or receive love from others to the extent that we love ourselves. I find that the love I am able to give now that I focus on self-love first is less bitter and resentful, and has less expectations around it. I see it as filling up with love, and then the overflow is what others receive from me. Thanks for sharing!
Sena, I love your videos. You are very creative, thoughtful, and insightful, always getting to the deeper meaning of life and society. It is clear that each video requires enormous effort to plan, film, and edit the resulting piece in an enjoyable experience for us watching. Thank you so much for all you do, you have more impact on others than you can imagine.
Everyone has different conditions in their life, its not to late to change things or change perspective. I think its important that you love yourself first and then you can give of yourself to others. And remember that if you do your best and be the best you you can be in your situation-your good enough and dont has to be someone else but you. Thanks for such good videos💖
As someone with severe life long social anxiety, I too am pressured to live what is considered to be a “successful” life. Even the basics of simply holding an okay paying job and friendships are incredibly difficult. Constantly being in a state of alienation from most people I encounter. And the feeling I have to be like everyone else (especially extravagantly) to be happy. I’m struggling to find a place I belong and the general encouraged mentality of “you need to keep fighting to be happy and successful some day” ironically makes that worse when it comes to pressure. I just want to say thank you for making these videos on your perspective. Seeing someone who is aware and questioning our fast paced way of life and finding happiness through pure simplicity is incredibly hopeful. It’s wonderful that you’re sharing this and it’s a positive impact for anyone in whichever walk of life they’re in.
Thank you so much for watching this video and your meaningful comment :) To me, everyone's preference on how we want to live our lives should be up to each individual and hence, it's ok to desire to live in a fast paced world if that's what you like but it's also ok to want a slow paced life style. I believe we should be free to find whatever works for us and no one should be judged by how we choose to live our lives!
Thank you Sena. You have such a calm and insightful presence in your videos. This is a common problem in society that we always compare ourselves to others. Like someone once said "Comparison is the thief of joy".
4:11 this is the problem with social media in general, ultimately it is just surface it doesn't give you insight to the person at a deeper level. Most people are addicted to it because it is ultimately unsatisfying just like junk food. For instance why do so many people smile on instagram? Is it genuine or just to get more likes? Although I still use it a little bit thesedays in NZ i don't post anything and feel much better when I converse face to face than through text or other social media. Society is definately going in the wrong direction of avoiding face to face interaction.
Such a helpful perspective and you're talking about comparison which is something I was actually planning on writing about myself tonight! Nice coincidence! Comparison throughout my life has led me down a path of never feeling fulfilled - it's gone too far in a negative direction. Also, side note: awesome triceps man! Nice work.
You're so lucky to have learned these lessons so young in life. I've just turned 50, and only learnt some lessons over the last year or so. You're such a lovely person. Keep spreading your message - you're helping so many xxx
Hi Sena! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making these videos because they resonate entirely with me, who i am, what my worries are, my decisions and the changes I decided to go through with my life! You're giving me hope and courage to stay true to who i am regardless of how society wants to make me feel! Thank you and God bless you my friend 🙏
i also had similar experience of being behind in life....im working for a government agency in Malaysia and been working for 10 years without promotion although continously getting excellent marks for performance..this is reality for minority in this country...
It feels like you posted this video right as I needed it. I’ve been feeling behind and out of place since I graduated from university last semester, and now I’m starting to realize I may have been being too hard on myself and too negative. I guess I’m still learning to love myself as well.
Time flies when you are having a great time hahaha
Hope you enjoy watching this video :)

You are one of the very few subscriptions I have on UA-cam and I always look forward to your take on life. All the best. ‼️😊
I like your editing. You match your facial expression to match the mood you create. Very creative and fabulous.
I really like your videos. Thank you for sharing them.
Found your channel yesterday as it popped up. i was intrigued and watched, really enjoyed. Today, another video popped up and again I watched, definitely resonated with me as living in the US is all about getting ahead and unfortunately not seeing the beauty of ones self and life itself. I am subscribing.
I'm sitting here watching your videos and I'm in my 40's. I'm learning a ton from you : )
Thank you for this video! 😕
Thank you for this video. I have been feeling behind in life for years now. I am always trying to “catch up”.
Very insightful video. Love this message. I have definitely felt this way.
excellent video Sena , this totally resonates with me , as I also feel very behind in life , and have suffered greatly for it but as you mentioned in your video it probably only is just in my head.
Greetings from Italy!
have you heard of ACT therapy? It's a great tool to help people with chronic illnesses live fulfilling lives.
@@Teilnehmer thanks, I will look it up!
Love this channel. Joined today, it's a good Monday!
Thank you so much for your support!
A very close friend of mine sent me this video. Thank you so much for your wisdom and insight ♥️ It really warmed my heart to know that I am not alone, and that others have felt lost too.
Dear Sena, your words are precious for me and heal.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences, I feel me a little bit no more alone 😊
Thanks for all
“Society praises you for fitting in” I can relate to this 100% as a Moroccan female living in the states by herself.
Congratulations on having the courage & willingness to honor your Self & live your life in your own way!!! And welcome to America!!
"Your beliefs don't make you a better person, your behavior does."
Have a good life.
Hi Sena,
Just to let you know, I needed to hear this, especially today.
I was so down today man. Thank you for this!
セナさんの動画は確実に私の助けになってます。今月末からシンガポール赴任ですが、自分らしく頑張りたいと思います。
When I view what you have to say, Sena, I often envision myself across from you, having an awfully thoughtful conversation. What you express is palpable, and I think your viewers truly appreciate your authenticity and willingness to be vulnerable. You’re a breath of fresh air.
UGH!!! My heart is lifted every time. I love this man. He is a dream boat.
You have a beautiful outlook of life. Could not agree more. To some, changing inner narrative is life-saving. We lost so many precious human becos they listened to and followed the junk from the society which is promoting unfair self-criticism and self-hatred, they were so crushed deep down that leaving this life is the only option.
You are a blessing. Thanks for your content.
Your content is very insightful & profound. For those who are ready to hear your message, you help them to feel more hopeful & less helpless!! In fact, your words are empowering & inspiring!! Thank you. I'm enjoying your videos!!
I love your contents. Just found this channel.
Also, can I just say, you seem like the kind of guy who's very enjoyable to be around with, someone you can talk to about anything and gain insights after every conversation.
love this video, really helpful for me, success for me also is to learn to love myself, thank you for this !!! greetings from Barcelona
Your channel gives me a sort of peace.
Happy Birthday Sena. Hope all your dreams will come true.
I have seen many of your videos and they alle have been inspiring to me, helping me to reflect me and my life. Especially how you speak, your voice, your easy to understand English for a native German speaker, the calmness of your vocals helps me to relax and follow your explanation. Thank you so much.
Thank you for posting this amazing video. #selflove #selftrust #self-respect
I'm enjoying following you on your journey. The message today is calm and uplifting. Thank you.
Keep making your videos. There are many people that have the same values.
Thank you for your encouragement ♥️ . Finding your channel was the best thing that happened to me in the past 3 months.
I absolutely love your podcast. For a 24 year old guy you are very wise. I've also noted because it's hard not to , how least self obsessed and no Narcissism you have compared with America where i live. All your episodes are sincere , honest and heartwarming.
i wish i had met you when you were here in nz, so insightful and wise beyond your years sena...oh and cute too!
Very profound, thank you for sharing. Cheers from the USA.
Your videos are extremely relaxing and comforting to watch! Thanks so much and please keep doing what you're doing Sena :)
I love your encouraging videos...
Your words and thoughts are so Wise 🙏, it's like a big brother teaching me
Can’t wait for the next video 💯
i'm 23 years old, poor family, weak body, introvert, insecure.
Thank you!
aww thanks for the video , i was stuck in my own anxiety , feeling behind and overthingking, thanks for making me a bit warm 🙏💕
I love the way you talk and describe your life and feelings. I think more people feel the same way that you do
Love the self-awareness! Thanks for sharing!
listening to you is just as calming as a cup of chamomile tea. thank you and have a nice weekend
Great video with deep thoughts!👍
Amazing video! Thanks!
Thanks Sena! Watching your video is like listening to a close friend and having meaningful conversations. Can relate much!
I am pleased to hear you are learning to love yourself, because you are very lovely 😊
Thanks, it was resonated with me. I’m also struggling with the empty right now.
Your videos are so relaxing!
Hi Sena, thanks for sharing and you don't have to say sorry for whenever getting off track 😉
The things you go through resonate with me so much. Thank you for talking about this.
Thank you so much for watching this video and your meaningful comment :)
To me, everyone's preference on how we want to live our lives should be up to each individual and hence, it's ok to desire to live in a fast paced world if that's what you like but it's also ok to want a slow paced life style.
Thank for sharing, I’m mixed Japanese American and I feel this way a lot lately.
You may like A Course In Miracles books and exploring the FI-RE movement (financial independence) as they fit well with minimalism and your philosophy
Love what you said about rain! Great analogy!
Γεια σου, ρε πατριώτη 😆
@@mariat-f2u γεια σου και σένα συντρόφισσα 😛
i also had similar experience of being behind in life....im working for a government agency in Malaysia and been working for 10 years without promotion although continously getting excellent marks for performance..this is reality for minority in this country...
Thank you so much for sharing this.
It was really insightful!
This video. Man. Thank you
It feels like you posted this video right as I needed it. I’ve been feeling behind and out of place since I graduated from university last semester, and now I’m starting to realize I may have been being too hard on myself and too negative. I guess I’m still learning to love myself as well.
Wow... Tú eres asombroso, mucha suerte y sigue así. Disfrute mucho de tu video.
