Thank you so much Jeff! Your support means so much. And yes, my wife is doing well. She does so much to support me in all aspects of life. And on these videos!
Hi Jeff Hamlin. That was so sweet of you to ask about me as well. I am well, and agree with you totally that Joe has come a long way with his videos. I like to say…that’s a lot of car information stored in his brain.🤷🏽♀️
This was the first video I’ve seen by this channel, thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m hoping to order an Oxide Grey on Fiona Red 2022 M3 xDrive at the end of the year🙏🏽
Please let your gracious Wife know my heart dropped after reading her reply to me, what a classy, classy thing to do. Was not expecting that! I knew she was Special 🦋❤️.Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Hutchinson 🙏🏾
I’m getting mine when I turn 19 I’m 18 right now and I bought a M340i 2022 for my 18th birthday but I’m ready for the upgrade and this video just made me so much more excited 😭 you looked so excited driving it I want to feel that 😭
Yes it does take a lot of effort but it is so rewarding. I just love cars, especially those vehicles that are well engineered for their intended purpose. Driving them is such a fun, an escape, and they all have a different personality or different characteristics and it's fun to explore those differences. Thank you for watching!
Great review. I love this color! Skyscraper Gray! Incredible car. My only concern would be ride comfort as a daily driver but you seemed to indicate this is not an issue. I think I like this better than the M5.
I can guarantee the M4Comp does. Love mine. Video was on "recommended" list and I really enjoyed it--subscribed/sharing and am enjoying all of yours. It's great to see someone so passionate about their car! Keep them coming! Especially liked the one with your buddy's manual GTS comparison.
I have a 2019 M4 Competition (this one being my 2nd M4) and I've recently driven the G82 M4. It is such a downgrade from F82 in terms of steering feedback and fun from DCT. The automatic transmission ruined it entirely for me, so the new interior is the only perk you get really...
@@vitalykutuzov3331 Drove Corvettes for 15 years prior to getting the M4C. Can't comment on the previous gen M4 except that it was slower, but I find the steering to be pretty good on mine, excellent road holding and traction, and while DCTs are clearly better on the track, the ZF8 is an excellent TC tranny and most consider it better for all around use. Of course, opinions are going to vary, but I am not at all feeling lacking going from a C7 Stingray to the BMW.
Hey joe loved your review so much & I can’t wait to receive delivery of my M3 Xdrive early next year ! Keep up the good work & Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺
Hi, very well presented. Aside from the ceramic brakes & bucket seats, I am on the cusp of ordering one with the same seat colour interior match. I have gone with the blacked out alloy colour with red callipers. It’s a lot outta your pocket $$$. But it’s no pocket rocket, it can shift very well for the weight that it truly is.
I think the M3 Comp is one of the best cars on the market today. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. And, it sounds like you have a great spec on the way. Congratulations!
I got a manual G80 in Portiamo Blue so it’s not the Comp. I love it. Such a fantastic car. Sucks the Comp wasn’t offered in a manual but the it’s still a beast.
I have an M3 Competition Xdrive being built later this month and I should have it in under 3 months. I’m really looking forward to it. I agree the ZF 8 speed will never hang with a PDK (like the 991.2 GT3 I drove, but it allows the use of all wheel drive and is still an excellent box compared to other torque converter automatics. The engine makes way more power than advertised and can be easily tuned for over 100 WHP with ease, and can go as low as the 9’s in the quarter mile on stock turbos. It also seems to be more reliable than previous turbo sixes from BMW. I think it’s a great all around fun car that can also carry 4 adults in luxury. It will never be a 911 in handling, but then again a 911 is far less practical. If I could have found a 911 GTS for a reasonable price I might have gone that route, but I wasn’t willing to pay way over MSRP to get one, so M3 Competition is my choice
I think you made an excellent choice. The M3 Comp is one of the best cars on the market today. I think you’ll be very pleased. I wish BMW would bring the M3 Touring to the United States. I’d be on the list for that one!
Outstanding review. Thank you. The M3 was going to be my next car, but the polarizing front end is giving me second thoughts. The other option is to go for broke (kind of literally I guess) and get a 992. I assume the 992 is the better sports car, but with a family I could use real back seats. Do you think the 992 is worth the 50%+ premium over the M3?
Boy, that is a tough question to answer. It is such a personal decision. If you have kids or need to put people in the back seats often, the M3 may be the way to go. If you want to focus on the driving experience, the 992 will have the edge over the M3. You can't lose either way, both are great cars, but the 992 will cost you a premium and you can't bring as many friends along!
BMW had a lawsuit about this a few years ago. I wanted to tell the person that filed the lawsuit, to stop driving it like Ms. Daisy. A few stabs from 150-0 and nothing will squeak.
Great job Joe! I used to own a 991.2 GTS and now a manual 718 GT4. But that M3 is sooo enticing right now as my next car to haul my family around like I used to on the 911, albeit with more practicality. If it had DCT, I’d be driving one right now.
Thanks so much for checking out the video! And, I must say, the M3 Competition is something worth checking out as well. It is loads of fun, fast and comfortable for a car with such great handling capabilities. BMW did this one right.
Great review. What color is that exterior? I have Skyscraper Grey xdrive on order w/ that Silverstone/blk interior so happy to see it goes well with the silver ext.
Thanks for wathcing the video and congratulations on the M3! I think you'll be happy. The color is Oxide Grey Metallic which has a nice pearlescent luster to it. . There are gold notes in the color that don't always show up on camera.
Hello there! I’m really interested to see your skyscraper grey with silverstone/blk interior. Do you think when you get it you could share a vid or some pics?
I wasn't a big fan of the front end but now it has grown on me. I am looking back the the F series and that looks a bit old and the big nose/modern design looks better now. Just my opinion.
One of the best M3 reviews on UA-cam - thank you! I am scheduled to get mine in June with the AWD xDrive feature. Do you feel like the interior on your tester went with the exterior?
Thanks so much for the kind words and for watching! Regarding the interior, I really liked how it worked with the exterior. Having said that, I worry about the white leather over the long term and whether it would show it's age from wear faster than a darker color. Congratulations on getting your AWD version coming up in June! Although the rear wheel drive I tested had loads of grip, the X Drive promises even more and, I imagine, all season useability.
Thank you for your thoughts. I think that might end up going with the Tartufo (rich brown) interior because of the concerns of keeping the Silverstone clean. Finally, I really appreciate the creative lighting effects added at mark 0:43, especially with those effects being aligned with the music - nice work!
I just ordered mine with the new interior (curved screen) was having a hard time deciding between the m3 and m4 and the end I just decided the m3 is better looking and more aggressive.
Ha I just sold my 991.1 s agate grey for x drive in skyscraper grey. Good info on the clutch. Spoiled coming from the pdk, so wonder how much I’ll like the z clutch. Opted out of carbon seats cause I’m sure wifey will complain
Joe do you think you’d ever trade your 911 for an M3? And I agree, re: the front fascia. It’s grown on me and I actually really like it now. Also, great video as usual!
I don't think I would trade in my 911 for an M3. The 911 is still a special driving experience. BUT, I could see adding the M3 to the household, maybe replacing our old Audi wagon. I could see that. My wife liked the M3, although she would put the standard seats in there. The steering sharpness of the M3 was really impressive and makes that car so much fun to drive quickly. Plenty of power, lots of tech. I was impressed.
I have aG80 Xdrive competition on order with this exact same spec except with the all black rims & all black interior…I’m yet to see the Oxide Grey in person…what are your thoughts on the color?
I thought the Oxide Grey looked really nice. It's got a pearlescent look about it and in some light you can see gold tones coming through. The camera doesn't do a good job of picking that up, but in person, it's rich looking. The BMW configurator online does not do this color justice.
Nice review and location, the silver contrasts nicely well with the green of the tree's. What are your thoughts of the carbon seats cushioning thickness in the seat? Could you drive for 4 hours before regretting the upgrade?
Boy, that's tough to say about those seats. Although I spent a lot of time in this car I didn't do a 4 hour stint. So I can't say for sure. In all of the time I was in the seats I was comfortable. It;'s just getting in and out of them that's awkward. If I FREQUENTLY did 4-hour long trips, I would pass on the carbon seats. They are supportive and comfortable but they are not Lazy-Boys.
Pieces of junk, but i am sure that it is fast and fun to drive. I am not saying that I wouldn't be happy to have one of these Ms, but maybe as a second car, and I would have a Japanese car as the Daily Driver instead. Another thing about this car, for the price, I would rather get a Nissan GTR and blow away the M3/M4 and get standard AWD too. Good review though Joe, you give us a lot of information on the driving experience that you are having, and heck, you even give us information on the seats that I never even thought about, and you seem like a Likeable guy too. Thumbs Up dude.
1:21 is that Dravit Gray? The carbon brakes squeal. BMW had a lawsuit over these, a few years ago. But I spec’d them for no brake dust. I don’t believe you mentioned the color? Is this Oxide or Skyscraper? And for the 992, it would have to be a Chalk Targa. Just like in the video. Unbelievable.
The M3 Competition I drove and reviewed was Oxide Grey Metallic. I stumbled across that base M3 at the car wash and I believe it is Dravit Grey, but I can't be certain as the owner of that base car wasn't around for me to verify.
I want to love this car… I want to love it enough to upgrade my F80…. But I just don’t. The F80 looks amazing from every angle and seems to drive just as well as the G8X. Yeah, I know the G is “faster”, and I dont think I care.
I have to say, the current car drives amazingly good. Soooo good! But I hear you, it's not like you can put a bag over this car. A big part of the ownership experience of a car like this is how it looks.
