Amazing bike. I have one that’s also been in my family since originally purchased, rip my grandpa Pompy he passed from ALS in 03. Started riding this mean machine when I was 13 and bought it from my dad when I turned 18 about 12 years ago. I’ve always had dreams to restore it like this and have spent tons of money on parts but haven’t found the time or extra money to go thru with it(I live in the ca Bay Area and a subway sandwich runs you about $25 if you want a drink). Trying to crowd source some of my family and pass it on to my little brother who just went of to college and has never rode a 250 2 stroke especially a dragon like these old smokers are.
Additionally, I hadn’t moved the bike in almost 4 years and it’s been sitting in my side yard no tarp. Knocked the webs off and it fired right up in 6 kicks.
Nice build. I had one nearing the ending of my riding. On a track, the mid range made my out of shape body arm pump in one lap. But on a fast, sand whooped out trail, (specifically, "The Little O" in Baldwin MI.), man I got fast on that bike. I do have to say though. I bet it runs better than stock, (but stock was strong, about 45hp), but I am doubting 50hp. If it is, I don't think I would like it if it hits like the stock bike did. That was my last bike. I am 56 now, minus riding for 17 years, and am picking up a slightly used YZ250 2-stroke tomorrow. Not easy finding a new bike with the commies shutting down our economy over a flu virus. I was lucky to find a helmet that fit me. Gotta wait for size 10 boots. We are in trouble, gotta ride.
I am told the FMF Gold pipe plus FMF muffler is good for 3 or 4, but I also put a Boysen carbon fiber intake and valve, so I would be very confident in 50+. I have and have had many bikes and this was super strong after tuning compared to stock. 1997 was he year this bike consistently was given top honors. I also used racetech components with complete rebuilds to improve suspension.
Nice work sir
It looks amazing. Nice build. But it would be even better if most parts and plastics were original in good shape

Can you restore mine
Can i get a parts list?
You can get a parts list on the Kawasaki site under Owners. Also, Partzilla has all the parts list and has very reasonable costs.
