This bike will always have a special place in my heart. From Jeff Emig winning the championship in 97 to all the desert races Ty Davis won on it was truly a very versatile bike even in the tight woods of the south east it grabbed several championships in harescrambles and GNCC. And let's not forget what Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart were able to do on it as well. A legendary machine... worthy of its place in motocross history.
Bought a 96 new, raced hare scrambles mostly. Super powerful motor, torquey power too. Stable handling, good suspension, and sweet 90s purple. Reliable bike as well
The best KX 2 smoker ever made. I have a friend I used to race with in the AMP/GFI circuit through the 90's and early 2000's . As the rest of us bought bikes every other year . He refused and just kept rebuilding his and kept up with all of us. Great video Kap lots of memories. Keep em comin brother.
That is one gorgeous bike! Christie, the Graphics Goddess, did an amazing job! I've known a few people that did graphics, and some were talented, but not even close to being on the level of talent, as Christie.
Rebuilt mine in 2000, powder coated frame black, trashed the purple Barney shit, how I regret that mistake, because now I love it. Been parked since 03. Tinkering around with it, one direction then another. Spare sss front may go on it, and old kx front may end up on iron head somehow if I ever get time. I can't get as good as I was on my 96 kx on my slightly more modern yz250. The bike just felt right, got out the gate in front of that damned 400, jumped like a bmx. You will shift, hydraulic clutch might keep your arm from going numb.
I had a 1997 KX250. I liked it a lot for off road. Not as much at the MX track. I ran 1 piston in it that seemed like forever. Never had a problem with it. Great machine.
90s bikes are the best steel frames 2 strokes the new bikes seem like you are riding on top of them the old ones feel like they are under and around you
My bike is a 97 kx250. For a 2 stroke it has so much usable power. Nice holeshots and easy to ride. If you want a vintage mxer' and can ride it right, this bike can put Trophys on your mantle!
Rode one when these were brand new.Instantly felt comfortable on it,even with soft-ish forks. The engine was great, pulling from just above idle. I loved it.
I have the same bike, mine still rips the ground up without even opening up on the throttle but it needs some work and love. I’m no mechanic of any kind but since it’s my first bike ever I’m going to make sure it lives as long as I do
That’s beautiful mind,I love the green and purple combo topped off with Kristies graphics 👌🏻 I loved my Kx 250 but constantly snapped the kick start shaft for some reason it had mega compression,it was easier to start my 500
I can twll your'e taking it easy. I had a 98. Mine was built but even my buddies stock machine was extremely fast. The meat of the pwerband on the 97 and 98s started at idle. They were the best sounding bikes, great stability for high speed tracks, especially sand. I was a fast intermediate. My 01 CR 250 was slightly faster in a straight line, but not by much and that engine would wear you out. 98 KX 250 was my all time favorite motocross machine.
I’m picking up a 96 kx 250 soon I plan to keep it forever I was pissed after I sold my last kx 250 and been wanting another since then can’t beat those mid late 90s kx 250s
Cr5 any day, but I still woke some days with either one these or cr2 on my mind. Looks fairly bang on to an original obviously pipe and stickers, otherwise that's super clean
Bro, I got to ride a number of the Kawis from '96... Of them, they ALL had mean ass power bands. Even and especially the little bikes, the KX100 totally fuckin ripped. The 250 was complete sexual experience. Crazy power, but not Yamaha style -pull your shoulder socket out- but useable power everywhere, torque where not-- though not lacking handling, not rigid. Just felt right.
Ken you should rode your cr 500 in eastford ct yesterday 7 half miles of rocks and roots over 60 but i loved my 22 xc 250 ktm mostly ktms netra get there
The only bad thing about the 94 to 98 KX 250's is the stock brakes are the worst and it feels a little top heavy compared to some bikes other than that it was a great bike! It didnt really get much better or faster than that ! Yes in 2006 I raced a KX250 and beat a brand new YZ450F to the first turn ! I just absolutely could not brake and turn as good as them the four strokes ....also I only weighed 135 lbs then!!!!!! I was not strong then at all should have been on a 1999 KX125!
Nice kx 250 2 stroke pitty they stoped makeing them ...see my helmet..M2R helmets designed and developed in Australia 🇦🇺 l got it free with my new 2021 KLX450R..cheers from Melbourne Australia..check out hattah desert race Australia very sandy challenging track you got to be fit .if l was younger l would do it ..also check out ...(Made for this :Daniel milner ) a better look at some of the track from the hattah desert race Australia 🇦🇺
Anyone in ct that has a 96,it was last sold as a 98, it had polished swing arm, fmf gnarly, 2007 front end, I wanna buy my bike back lmao last I saw it was best to shit, had 813 suspension on paperwork
I'd take that kx over any gasgas bike!
Ever ride a new gas gas??
@@metalted6128 doesn’t compare against old school like this
I would take a new Yamaha two stroke Over a gas gas
Amen 🙏
You ain’t kidding!
That bike is so beautiful !!!
Oh wow 😍
96 kx250 purple 💜 💚
Sick bike! I love 90s style so so much. Thank you guys for uploading these kickass vids!

@@MichaelSmith-pg6gi that is probably a scammer.
@@shane24374 thanks for the advice.
It’s a scammer!!! Fkn dirt bags
It’s the rider, not the bike. Jeremy won on all brands, so did Eli, Ricky etc…
@@medjoolmaker I stand corrected..
That thing is DYNAMITE. Sounds SO CLEAN. Got my first bike in 96’. GREAT year! Great Vid Fellas🔥🔥💯🍻
Man this and the xr 650r are so bad ass and takes me back
Christie’s Graphics are Awesome very talented second to none!!🤙🏻
The graphics on the shroud are actually stock. My all time favorite look for the KX, possibly any bike period.
I recreated those stock graphics, very pleased how they came out
@@staigerdesigns9334 oh wow! Beautiful work!
@@jaysoniorg2950 Thank you!!
Sounds so crisp 👌🏻
Very nice I have an all original 96 kx80 best year for the kx colours 😀
Holy crap another rippa😊 wish you guys were in New Jersey. I'd be there all the time.
Bought a 96 new, raced hare scrambles mostly. Super powerful motor, torquey power too. Stable handling, good suspension, and sweet 90s purple. Reliable bike as well
Spot on, tourqy engine ans stable handling are what set these machines apart
Green and purple KX's are just something else 🤩 just needs some retro purple Renthal bars on there.
Late 90s KXs were savage…
I always liked those thing's. Solid bike & still relevant.

Those graphics are sick
Christie's gfx definitely look premium.
Bad ass MaN’ no way could I have let that leave my hands… love the stinger on the silencer!! Get the neighbors first!!!🇺🇸💪🏼🦅
Back in the 90s when I had my 1985 CR125 there was a guy that would always pass me on one wheel with a bike like this.
Rebuilt mine in 2000, powder coated frame black, trashed the purple Barney shit, how I regret that mistake, because now I love it.

That thing is beautiful!
You should make posters or garage banners of some of these beauties. Those graphics really set it off.
I had a 1997 KX250. I liked it a lot for off road. Not as much at the MX track. I ran 1 piston in it that seemed like forever. Never had a problem with it. Great machine.
green / purple looks nice ✅🟣✅
@ᴜsᴇʀɴᴀᴍᴇ:[KAPLANAMERICA] cool broski
Nice bike
Rippin the house off the foundation 🔥🏁🤙
Wow what a nice bike. I'd like to go hill climbing on a 250 like that. Nothing throws a rooster tail better than a 2 stroke.
Hill Climbing on THAT BIKE would be a sin.......this isn't a dime piece, it is a Diamond piece. 😮
@@jeffwilkins3052 true, but I'd take care of it and not abuse it. Only nice dirt hills, nothing with a lot of rocks and trees!
A lot of these bikes got looped out so to have original silencer and fear fender is a little rare!
Gorgeous Kawi 250 old school👍💪🤩
I ABSOLUTELY 💖 the graphics Christie!!

Again absolute pristine piece!
Ah green and purple power!!
Can’t say I’ve had the chance to ride a kx of these years but my 95 cr absolutely hauled the mail and purple shrouds were the best look of the 90s
Stunning looking bike TEAM GREEN 🏁🏁

Hi Ken, how can I order those graphics ? Is there a website? Thanks for the help ! Love the channel.
I had a 2001 I'm sure things didn't change much but my bike was a fucking beast!!
That sneeze at 1:31 😂 bless you!!
The 96 Rm, Kx, and Cr's were absolutely stunning...the 96 YZ 250 was the obvious exception. 😂
Best looking kx250 ever.
My old bike looks good Ken! You guys did a nice job on it
Great bike, is the internals of the motor 100% original?
race you on my 96' YZ 250!!!

Beautiful! I'm restoring a 97 kx 250 and wondering where i could buy a seat cover like that one?
That's clean. It would be hard to find a nicer one.
Awesome bike!!
15 years ago you practically could not give away 90s bikes....
I remember my father saying the same thing about 60s muscle cars.
I raced enduro on one of these and it was awesome only engine that was better was the 1998
How could you trade that in beautiful museum quality
Old 2 strokes seem to have a tamer powerband and more torque
Every time I see mint frame rails I feel guilty for destroying every motocross bike I’ve owned 🤦♂️
She looks tighter than a Tiger 🐅

2 strokes scream metal militia and 4 strokes scream soy latte
I’ve got a 99, wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Lovely bike I still think a 1998 cr250 are slightly quicker what do you think ken
Both can win its the rider
Where can I get the fork shield decal? I want them for mine.
What’s the spec on the carb? My 98 will not even dream about idling that low.
What's the value of one of those? I have one thats like brand new. A few scuffs on the plastic but less then 20hrs of ride time
A proper looking Kawi No shit black rims or frightening green claw marks
