    No the problem is the damn motorcycle manufactures. Stop making the same old boring shit from year to year and design something new. I just bought the Cfmoto 450 Ibex which is new here in the USA. They are selling quicker then people can put deposits on them. I had to buy mine out of state and the dealer I bought mine from got 5 in 2 days before I called and I got the last one already. It is simple make some thing new and at a good price and people will buy it. What is the point of going and buying a new Harley for the same cost as a damn car and get all the same features and design as they did 10 years ago????

    • @SHSPVR
      @SHSPVR 4 дні тому +5

      Actually, that is not true because there is only one other 450 class adventure bike and that is by Honda it is called the NX500 and is only $500 more, Also the manufacturers are being completely stupid by up charging more money for minor only update and theme color changes then adding a whopping $500 plus to the price, something else other people do not consider is the insurance is staggeringly high that is the biggest reason why people don't buy motorcycle and would much rather get a car especially for younger drivers it can be as much as over $150 a month up to $300 if on financing pre month just for insurance, And it doesn't help when finance companies are charging a freaking arm and a leg they're getting just as bad as loan sharks nowdays and it is not the only industry that's starting to crash so is the car/truck market is also getting there too the same with credit cards seriously who the hell charges over 30%, Also I should point out something to you when you're wrong about TF moto if you'd bothered to even look many of the dealers out there have bike models going back as far as 2021 that have never been sold, The one thing that CFmoto does sell a lot of is ATVs and Utv's here in US. One other thing that manufacturers could do to improve this whole situation is make longer warranties at least give a minimum of three years.

      Cfmoto is selling not bc they are some new innovation to motorcycles. They are selling bc they are cheap. If a comparable Kawasaki or Suzuki motorcycle was in the same price range, cfmoto wouldn’t even be a thing..

      @@skynative0099 Indeed. CF moto is a Chinese company, and we know how poorly paid their workers are. Not saying they aren't good bikes, they might be. But like so many things, the market is being undercut by cheap Chinese labor.

      Bikes haven't actually gone up relative to their counterparts in previous time periods when accounting for inflation and cost of living. The problem is wages have stagnated and things that are deemed "unnecessary" and/or "hobbies" or expensive toys seem a lot more out of reach.

  • @markwilkinson4316
    @markwilkinson4316 4 дні тому +49

    Perhaps if they stopped adding functions / gadgets that nobody asked for in the first place, they could keep the costs down - Royal Enfield have managed it.
    Sure, mandatory safety & environmental features all cost cash, but the rest of it is mainly waste that will never be used.
    The Companies seem to be trying to tell us what we want, rather than giving us motorcycles we need.

    • @S1000xrhp
      @S1000xrhp 4 дні тому +6

      100% agree with you, they're trying to sell bikes the same way they sell cars. Gadgets galore!! The mistake they've made is bikes can feel good with a Speedo and rev counter, they don't NEED all the trinkets which are being pushed at us. A shagged out car design might need the toys to get it to appeal to a buyer.
      But a basic bike can make your day, so, invest in better components, brakes, engine response, suspension even mpg if you will but make them cheaper with fewer tft's etc. and drop the purchase price. That's the way forward!

    One of the things being missed here is the coming end of the Boomer Pension era, where new Pensioners had money to splash out living the dream.
    Those of us coming up to retirement now are having to ask ourselves how we are going keep our existing machines on the road, or whether we continue at all, given the rising costs of ownership.
    The next generations of Pensioners are looking at how they can settle the rising costs of living bills before anything else - it’s all about priorities.

The home was a 4 bedroom and den with a dining room plus central air system. Cost me less than a Harley Davidson street glide. This is why nobody in their right financial mind would or could buy any overpriced motorcycle. The interest rates the banks hold are totally ridiculous and help price most out of the buyers market. Then we have the worst insurance rates, even though one has a great driving record. No! I’ll keep what I got. It will do just about anything the new junk can’t do. With out braking down. The bike manufacturers are very greedy and don’t care about the rider or future riders. They only care about the folks who hold stock in their company. It’s all about the buck. Screw the buyers.

Oh - I also need a motorcycle that has a seat height so high - that I need a hydraulic lowering system to place my feet on the riding surface when stopped. Gotta have an automatic transmission - even though I love working a clutch. It just keeps going - manufacturers are stupid - and what about that $1500 suit I need to buy to look cool. 🤮

    Funny because the local dealer to me is killing it in sales. Side by Sides and Bikes, they are moving a good bit of inventory even in the winter. Here's a thought - I've walked into a Indian/BMW/Royal Enfield dealer, strolled around the entire showroom for a good 20 minutes or so plus some of the used stuff. Never ONCE was I asked what I was looking for, interested in, etc. Everyone was to glued to their phone screens. So simply just walked out and will never visit again. Go to a "chain" store who sells Honda/Yamaha/Kawi/Triumph. Walk the entire store like a ghost. Nobody ask any questions, or anything. Finally I find someone to ask "hey, I'm interested in a Triumph Daytona." His reply: "we've never had one, and we don't plan to order one." WTF? You sell the Street Triples, but not the full fairing version? And refuse too? Bleh. So next I walk into my local dealer (kawi/Can-Am/Suzuki) and they greet me as I walk in, ask if I need anything/interested in/etc. I've bought 3 bikes from them, and never once have I been asked to pay over MSRP or any BS fees. It's tax+Title +bike and you're out the door. MLS Powersports in Georgetown KY If anyones interested.
    Now lets look at the bikes themseelves. Why has cruise control not trickled into the 600-900 category? That's a very nice selling feature that shouldn't be liter bikes only. Odd-ball engines. 2 and 3 Cylinders to meet EPA regulations are honestly going to scare off people from a new bike. More so on the sport bike side of things. The pure sound of a 4cylinder high revving sport bike is bliss. A Kawaski sounds weird with it's 2cylinder, the Suzuki is odd sounding at the low RPMs as a 2 cylinder (but their upper rpm range is a lot better sounding) the Yamaha and Triumph 3 cylinders sound interesting, but not bad. However they just don't have that baby f1 engine sound of a fast revving 4cylinder. And then there's the cost.... I paid 8500 for my 8R new, with a MSRP of 10K. Bought it towards the end of summer. No way would I have given 10K for it. It's a great bike, but it's not a 10K great bike. 8500 is a perfect price for it. But when you can pick up a R6, Ninja 600, GSXR650, etc for around 6K off classifieds ads, and be faster and better than the current crop of NEW bikes for half the cost... Why wouldn't you go that route if it suites your needs?

      One of my bike mates recently got chased by masked thieves when she was out for a Sunday ride, the coppers did nothing to help her other than offer her some patronising advice about 'securing your bike'. They ambushed her at the traffic lights in broad daylight, wielding knives for god's sake! Police were absolutely useless.

    The easiest way to keep the cost oi buying a motorcycle down is to pay cash, or low interest balance transfer and plan on paying of the loan, purchase price in as quick a time as possible to avoid debt service, interest rates, build better credit score and enjoy. Don't buy more than you can afford! I have bought five bikes in the past year, sold two privately and rolled over the money into an immediate upgrade while maintaining a credit score over 800. Never had a problem with the price of bikes or financing them. It's the damn insurance. They try to make you have full coverage, and full coverage is over almost 3000 dollars. A friend of mind tried for a ninja 1400, and one insurance tried to hit him for 13,000 dollars a year. When he asked why, he was told insurance companies are trying to stay away from motorcycles because they are high risk. So they are overcharging for insurance. No one can afford a bike note if insurance is through the roof!!

    Yep, bought a used Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber 2016 for like US$4,500 in Australia. 25,000km on the odo, yearly serviced, from a licenced dealership. Never dropped, still purrs indistinct of a 2024 model.
    Blast riding and lane filtering through Sydney on it. A throaty, torquey mid-class cruiser that even with those 90* transversal V-twins lane filters like a dream and gives me 62Nm in a cruise-y low rev range...
    And Australia is less price reactive given its low population and high shipping costs, and yet seeing major reductions on finding a new or used bike like this.
    I will say you possibly don't want to wait *too long* if you're looking for a particularly boutique brand in Australia as total inventory of that bike you've always wanted a specimen of in your collection is going to be less than finding one in Europe or North America...
    But the fact that price hits for more boutique manufacturers like Moto Guzzi are being felt so extensively here, the rest of the world is going to definitely feel it across everything.

    when I first started at the beginning of this century (god that sounds old), a 600cc is about 8k and an 1000cc is about 10k. Now they got rid of the 600cc and bumped up the 1000cc to 1200s, and asking for 20k-30k and priced itself out of the market. Now with 12k you basically are buying the 600cc performance. And the smaller 250s are now 400s and 500s to fill the void left. You either have to pay more or get less for your money or both. Thank god I'm not longer in the I have to have the fastest bike age. GOOD. Market crashes make newer rides more affordable and the aftermarket easily supplies spare parts thanks to CNC machining, but no one NEEDS a new bike/car/truck because the market has so many used ones!
    Everything worth doing to two-wheelers has been done so extra features just make upkeep more hassle (though now as in the past they can be stripped off to simplify used rides).Motorcycling is less popular than formerly and recent bikes easily last many years. The used bike market in many areas is already low and with the Great Boomer Dieoff more and more machines go back on the market. Used machines aren't much harder to wrench than a riding mower and a breeze compared to cars and trucks Americans routinely work on for themselves

    It was a nice video but I disagree with interest rates causing much of the mess for dealers. I sold bikes from 1995-2003 or so. Back then most dealers were paying more overhead in flooring cost of non current new unsold bikes. It was really bad during the 80's and early 90's for most Japanese manufacturers. Interest rates were 13-14% through the dealers and the lenders were strict as hell. Dealerships look like ghost towns these days. No lines at the parts counters or service counters but it takes 3 days to install a tire. Motorcycle shops need people to come in and visit, offer them an experience that the internet can't. But they are lethargic now, they are understaffed, they don't carry near enough parts for current models. Folks might as well use the internet. I believe it can be saved but I think it will take a newer breed of owner.

    Harley seems to have the biggest problem - they have their own financing "arm" - apparently giving loans to anybody who wants one is a bad business decision. They are now struggling to find enough "repo men" to collect all of the bikes that have been defaulted on. Honda sales keep INCREASING, so it's not EVERY manufacturer struggling. Indian sales might be "off", but they aren't into the "finance" game - they're probably in a lot better shape - Polaris is a HUGE company - not just the motorcycle market - they CAN weather a slow-down better than Harley can.

    it' the prices not so much the loan rates. I had a 7.5% home mortgage in 1980. Car loans were a bit more. If they are comparing to the rates after the financial collapse at 2.5 -4.0 that's unrealistic. It's the "prices stupid" Like some of the posts I have read they keep adding nanny aids and electronic gadgetry that increases the price. As one poster commented the CF moto bikes are selling,"its the bang for buck". As companies like CFMoto gain market share as there quality improves they will decimate the industry the same way the Japanese was the nail in the coffin for British bikes back when. As boomers with disposable income age the big expensive ADV bikes will lose market share too. I'm 73 in a few months and I'm hanging it up this spring. Time for a 2 seat sports car...2007-8 Saturn Sky here I come. Corvette, no way with too many costs issues.
