  • POV GoPro footage of doing a couple laps on the 1997 KX 250. This one of the whooped out sand tracks at Barnhart Vale in Kamloops.
For a bike over 20 years old it is still a great time!

That is my kind of track. Maybe a couple section a bit fast for my older tastes today, but I love a well worn out sand track.

1:06 That guy takes all the fun out of it. I wanted to see you jam by that 4-stroke. You should have roosted him. :)
I had that bike. I never went faster in whooped out sandy trails of Michigan, and I don't think many would beat me there back then. You are cranking well on it too I see. :)
Compared to my 2019 YZ250 2-stroke, (which was made to try to keep up with 4-stroke on faster and smoother tracks than this), this bike would smoke my YZ everywhere in the power curve accept probably the last 2000 top rpm. I did a lot of work on that tall YZ to make it rational/better, and I think I can make it the best bike I ever had. But at the moment, that KX was the best bike I ever had. It was a bit heavy though, 15lbs heaver than my YZ today. That KX had a very strong mid-range that would pump my arms pretty fast on a track, bit fgor the trails, it was great to have that great power anytime you may need it. That won MXA bike of the year with a great shock and great power.

He didn't. Most riders were that fast or faster before 97. Not today. :)
