To my surprise, there are a few that are on par with the original from 2010. Despicable Me 2 is oddly enough one of the most nostalgic films from my childhood. The film is so bright and colourful and just really invokes those vivid memories of summer 2013, especially hearing Happy everywhere lol.
But yeah, the first is obviously the best and genuinely a brilliant animated movie, then 2, Rise of Gru, 3 and Minions. Not seen 4 yet but pretty excited.

Dave is still the OG Minion, bro appeared in every film and was the only one familiar one out of the five volunteers

Out of the five volunteers there was also Mel, who was the main minion that caused all the minions to leave in the third movie. There was also Tim who appeared in like the second one I think.

Minions 2 is set in 1976 and Gru is 12, therefore he was born in 1964
So in Minions set in 1968, Gru must only be 4
Which means that by Despicable Me set in 2010, Gru must be 46.
I wouldn't trust the gorl's adoption forms, considering they also said he was a dentist and were written by the Minions who probably made mistakes

Finally someone who, for the first movie, doesn’t instantly mark any scene with the minions as filler or trash. The shrink ray stealing thing was entertaining even with the minions.
If i was making that movie, i would scrap poppy entirely and make margo and Edith force gru to do a heist. You already know why edith would, but i would say margo aswell because after her first day at school, someone put a glitter bomb in her locker, it would've been cool to see her villan arc

Also the reason the AVL sent gru away undercover is because all the other villains didn’t really care about tracking him down and destroying him but Maxime le mal didn’t want to take over the world or anything he wanted to make gru miserable so yeah hope that clear things out also it’s glad to see someone else not hate on despicable me 3 anyways Ik this was long but thx 4 reading!!!!

Illumination absolutely cooked on the first film. It wasn't centered around the minions like the others, it was focused on Gru, his girls, and Vector. Perfect. Now they just try to center it around the minions. The first film was beautiful because it had adult topics. Gru had to choose between his dreams, his ego (the moon and to defeat Vector), or his daughters. The character development was there. Now its only about the minions
The Minions movie as a standalone for the minions was good and goofy. I laughed so much.

@@mack7845 Yeah cuz, it has "The Rise of Gru" in the title, but it doesn't ACTUALLY show how did Gru became one of the world's top villains. Instead is another one of the many shenanigans the minions are going through. And the 4th installment of the Despicable Me franchise is the same to be surprise of absolutely nobody.

I liked Despicable Me 4 but there's some problems that I agree with you. There should be more Maxine and Mega Minion senses. I would have gotten rid of the karate and grocery scenes and replaced it with Maxime going to AVL to find the information on Grus location but he has to fight the Mega Minions to get in and when he beats them and gets into Ramsbottom office, he will turn Ramsbottom into a cockroach since he deleted all of the information on Grus whereabouts but that's when the principal will call Maxime to tell him where Gru is.
This would have made Maxime more of threatening
Villain and it would shown more of the mega minions.

The Vector cameos in Minions 2 and Despicable me 4 were great, but none of them were justified. Minions 2 takes place in 1976 and Gru is 50 in the first movie, so Vector shouldn't even be born at this point. And in Despicable Me 4 Vector should be on Mars. (also a big part of that scene isn't justified)

To make corrections, Dru was seen in the end at gru's place at a stand. And doctor nefario was also at the end who turned gru jr into a human again.

I was really hoping for DM4 to be at least almost as good as Rise of Gru. But from what I've heard it's almost on the same level as the original Minions film, and is considered the worst mainline DM movie.
Me personally, I thought DM2 was a VERY good movie, although I will agree that the ending was a bit lame. DM3 was... fine. Like, it didn't leave a long-lasting impact for me like DM1 and 2 had. Hell, even Minions, despite that movie being atrocious, had some stuff in it that was pretty memorable. I only really remember Bratt being voiced by Trey Parker, and the scene where Dru was stuck in the vent and made a reference to The Office as Steve's character in that series, who said in an episode that he would eat an entire turkey pot-pie. As for Rise of Gru, I thought that movie was amazing. Blew my mind by just how good it was. I had some hope for Illumination after it came out, because then we got the Mario Movie, probably Illumination's second best movie to date, and Migration which I haven't seen, but heard that people actually really liked it. And then we got DM4, and all I've heard is just how boring it is. I was hyped for it, honestly, and it just sounds like a major disappointment.

Minions(2015) is pretty meh but, as someone who is an admirer of the UK and its culture, I liked the scenes with The Minions and Scarlet Overkill set in London. Pretty cool, tbh.

I have a massive soft spot for the minions movie. It's extremely nostalgic for me! Collecting the McDonald's toys and watching it in theaters and seeing minions on basically everything was awesome! I find myself hunting for DM4 McDonald's toys JUST for the nostalgic feeling of collecting both the DM2 McDonald's toys and especially the Minions 2015 toys 😄

Honest (but biased) opinion: I really enjoyed Despicable Me 4 and I think it’s one of the best DM movies. I was stressing about junior year and after I was finally through my first week, I watched this movie and man did it get rid of that stress. I really enjoyed it overall and Maxime is unironically my most favorite villain. Sure, the plot sucks and there’s no denying that but this movie was such a blast

One of my favorite things about this movie, is seeing gru go from being selfish only caring about himself and his criminal career, to becoming a family man adopting three girls and later getting into a relationship with a woman who treats the girls as her own children. IMO that's the best part of this series very heartwarming
really the only semi good part of despicable me 4 was the ending, liked all the cameos, that's about all good things i can say about it.

The 3. movies villian is Trey Parker (Creater of South Park)
Balthazar Bratt is the only reason why I really enjoy DME3! He is a really funny villain and have a great voice!
(And the fact that Bratt was voiced by SouthPark creator Trey Park makes everything better)
One of my favorite characters is Dr. Nefario, but i always find it disappointing how underutilized he is. The first movie used him well, and the second, while you could say he wasn't as important, still made him entertaining. Minions and Rise of Gru made sense why he was basically absent aside from quick cameos since he isn't working for Gru yet. However, I hate the way they just waved him away in the third movie for a lame star wars reference. The fourth movie did bring him back, but not only does he sound different because of the time between the 2nd movie and 4th, he is once again a quick cameo.
Stuart Kevin and Bob is MASSIVELY Underrated ngl when i was child it was personally my favorite.
And El Macho is probably deserve to be higher then 3(my thoughts)

I like how some people started thinking this movie would be more about the girls or dru or the minions going with dru or what it’s like with Gru and Lucy now having a baby, but they either didn’t appear or didn’t matter

The minions prequel beats all of the other ones, because I like when the minions are a big plot in the story for example, despicable me 2 and minions. But a movie just for the minions is peak. And its just so goofy and the first 10 minutes are so good just seeing them go the the evolution of humans is so good. in rise of gru the minions get pushed to the side and same for LITERALLY THE NEXT 4 MOVIES.

Edit: Ok Gru’s age is so fucking confusing in this universe. Cause in the first Minions movie they walk through the set of the moon landing, which happened in 1969. Where as in the second one there is a poster for Jaws in the movie theater which was released in 1975 and Gru hadn’t aged a day after the events of the first movie.

#6 Minions- too much minions and 5 year old funny hahas. E TIER or a 2/10
#5 Despicable Me 4- I watched it with my family yesterday and it had a lot missed potential. the cockroach concept was interesting... but seeing Will Ferrell and his girlfriend getting gas and turning a hillbilly into an insect was not enjoyable. other than that.. the teenager was annoying but I liked the double life concept. Pharrell's lyrics in the song should've played more into the movie than helping this redhead stealing a rodent. Other than that... D Tier or a 4/10
#4 Despicable Me 3- Very forgettable but Bratt served as a great villain in my eyes but Dru wasn't really necessary at all. No good jokes and the final boss fight was pretty good i guess. D Tier or a 4.5/10
#3 Minions: The rise of gru. too much minions and J.J from cocomelon hahahahahahahhahhs. but actually this movie was pretty good. Wild knuckles was a great character to be a mentor for young Gru and I'm glad they had more Gru than the first one. Nefario's backstory was pretty great and the bad guys who were some hip-hop band or something were awesome. but the real question arises........................... is chick hicks from Cars that guy from 1933 Germany with the moustache 🤨? and also how is vector gru's age like that makes zero sense. 5.5/10 or a C Tier
#2 Despicable Me 2- I watched this too long ago but I remember it being pretty good. villain was good, I like gru working for the AVL and lucy is a unnecessary person for gru to love but okay. 7/10 or A Tier
#1 Despicable Me- only illumination movie that is allowed to even touch Pixar's catalog. 9/10 or S Tier

8:57 i think in the 4th movie Poppy says (at least in certain dubbings) that gru was 12 in that scene and possibly a teenager in 2nd Minions movie.
