EDIT: Jack-Jack gets his name from the term 'jack of all trades'. It's very clever and everyone already knew this except me apparently! What's the "darkest" animated movie (for kids) you've ever watched? This one is definitely top 5 for me... Follow me on Twitter, I post memes: twitter.com/Darzii_
I think Coraline fits this criteria almost perfectly. The entire movie is pretty dark with how the parents treated Coraline and the fact that the doll versions of them almost gaslighted her into putting the buttons on her eyes.
It's a good theory. There wouldn't be many other designers working for supers - not when it's illegal. It's not the kind of thing you could do yourself, either - because the costume needs to be so specialised. It's essentially armour. If a cape is a known hazard, there's really only two options. Either he went to an inferior designer because he had so few options... Or he had to go to Edna. Who gave him a cape knowing how dangerous it was.
@@LordofFullmetalThat is true, but considering he presumably made his own tech or at least has people for that, the same could likely be said for his suit
This just proves that kids can and should watch dark movie. It'll fly right past their heads when they watch it, but they'll grow up to appreciate the movie in hindsight. Isn't this a way to slowly prepare them for the real world?
No, it’s not a good way to prepare them for the real world. The parents should be responsible for preparing their kids for the future, not movies that may or may not even be for kids. Not saying movies can’t be dark, but it’s not their job.

17:19 She didn’t switch sides out of nowhere! There was a huge precedent for her to do that. 1: She witnessed Syndrome attempt to murder a whole family with children (having a noticeably negative emotional back-pedal the moment she heard Helen cry “THERE ARE KIDS ON BOARD!”, on the radio, while Syndrome remained apathetic and too hyper fixated on hurting Mr. Incredible) 2: Syndrome had basically let her die when Mr. Incredible grabbed her, despite him being fully capable of saving her. 3: Prior to this scene she voiced her frustrations about Syndrome to Syndrome, arguing, “next time gamble with your own life” (if I can remember that correctly), and forcing her work folders into his arm, which I read as her resignation. SHE HAD CLEARLY ALREADY BEEN PUSHED FAR PAST HER LIMITS PRIOR TO THIS SCENE.
Just wanted to add to your second point, she SAVED Syndrome’s life by pushing him out of the way when Mr Incredible went to grab him. And then Syndrome was gonna let her die in return. I’d be pissed too tbh!
Great analysis but I'd like to point out something you didn't bring up during the computer scene: Mr. Incredible, being the altruistic man he is, searches his wife first, his best friend second and only then himself. Honestly very neat detail that gets overlooked!
Thats a great point! I ended up missing and/or purposely skipping a lot of small details like that to cut the video a bit, but this is a great example of how well thought out this movie is! Thank you for sharing!
The fact that this animation came out in 2004 and the story takes place before 2000s and whatever tech we see in it wasn't even a thing back then show that creators traveled in time
No, Sci fi has long predicted these things in books and sci fi shows and movies. Evil iron man reference he made is off because that prototype predates iron man.
Also fun fact, Violet is a shrinking violet: a shy person constantly putting up shields, feeling invisible to the world, at times wanting to disappear… her powers match her personality, along with all the other characters
The family's powersets are also references to the Fantastic Four, who are often referred to as the "first family of superheroes." Elastigirl has the same stretchy powers as Mr. Fantastic, Mr. Incredible is like a less monstrous version of The Thing, and Violet has Invisible Woman's invisibility and forcefields - The only one of the four that doesn't fit up is Dash, who's more of a Flash/Quicksilver/generic speedster pastiche than anything else, although I guess Jack-Jack lights himself on fire in that one scene near the end which does reference the Human Torch.
In elementary and middle school I went to school with the voice actor for Jack jack, Elias Fucile. Everytime a teacher put on the incredibles during class we would all turn to him and say “look it’s you!”.
I always understood because even as a kid, I knew how much of an a**hole he was. Adult me, however, would've been like "don't throw him, we need this job".
This here? This is how I test if people are psychopaths I will pause the movie and go to "get a drink and a snack", come back and ask what they thought of Bob throwing his boss through several rooms where he almost died If they say it was dope, bad person
The Omnidroid didn't gain "sudden sentience" when it attacked Syndrome. It was doing EXACTLY what it was programmed to do. For some reason, he just never programmed it to not actually defeat him when he would eventually use it as a stunt.
But it's not farfetched to believe the machine could get sentient at some point, if the Incredibles hadn't defeated it in the first place. Also, I find it hard to believe Syndrome forgot an important detail in programming that robot like oh, it should not detect his remote control as a threat. Even the shock on his face makes me think he might have planned for it to not detect the remote, but the robot did.
I read in the comments that the Omnidroid that Mr. Incredible fought was supposed to be programmed to fight Frozone, hence why it threw him in the volcano. If it weren't for Bob switching Lucius' place to infiltrate Syndrome's island, imagine how dire Frozone's fate would've turned out.
In the marriage scene, the dead dude from the cave scene is sitting near the front. The dead guy, was Mr. Incredible’s friend, most likely a good friend, since he was trusted enough to know Mr/Mrs Incredible’s real identities.
Also the fact the writers have the intro scene and lawsuits take place before Good Samaritan laws were put in place because if they were in place Mr. Incredible and the other heroes couldn’t have been sued for saving people who wound up injured in the process.
Note: the private jet was loaned over from their family friend and he was gonna die in the crash, but was simply cut for time and worked better for Helen’s character to the team. Just one of the many things initially cut.
I’ve heard speculation that he was the actual father of Violet. Which, if true, means that there was infidelity after all, just not from Mr. Incredible. There was also speculation that Edna Mode was secretly Violet’s mother (lmao). I guess to them, that’s the only way Violet’s dark hair and round nose could be explained🤷🏻♀️
13:36 Something dark about this scene is that Edna has a defense system rigged to eliminate anyone she doesn't describe as a guest. The reason for this is more than likely to save her from being held hostage/at gunpoint and forced to open the door against her will.
someone should have asked does mr sansweet still want to live. if he says yes then the case can be tossed out the window as its a ploy to get money for being a little b***h
Honestly I kinda felt that way as a kid. He saved their lives but they’re made they got injured, and I just think “What would you rather he *didn’t* save you?” I suppose one *could* argue they wouldn’t need saving in the first place if it wasn’t for him but really that’s on Incrediboy (which in turn is because of Mr. Incredible but you get the point)
A crazy theory is that the first Omnidroid that Mr. Incredible faced was actually meant for Frozone. The part where the Omnidroid took the battle to the lava area would have weakened Frozone's power since he's weak around fire or heat. Frozone was actually supposed to be "recruited" to battle the Omnidroid, not Mr. Incredible. Hence why the lady was scoping them out during their Wednesday night out. She initially was targeting for Frozone, but immediately switched to Mr. Incredible, probably after seeing his power feats of strength.
It seems like the primary upgrade made to the Omnidroid was focused more on the attack measures and maneuverability rather than the armor. It did seem more capable of attacking several targets at once, and was strong enough to shatter Vi's force field just by dropping its weight on it. It also changes direction pretty quickly for its size when it rolls around compared to the Nomanisan Island version.
This actually makes sense thinking about This one was made to put on a show and ultimately be defeated, so it makes sense to have it be stronger and faster but weaker defensively
The upgrade is larger, heavier (both in armor and total weight), stronger (previously needed multiple arms to hold Mr. Incredible, while the new form only needs one, and can manhandile him with ease),and worst of all, smarter. And it loses the easy access port on the bottom that allowed Mr. Incredible to crawl inside. As for "defeating it the same way each time"... Yeah, it took more effort, a lot more, the second time around.
Yeah the weakness wasn't it being able to damage itself. That just makes sense since it'd be a weird update to make the claws weaker. The issue was first, mr incredible being able to get inside due to the bot having a blindspot. And the oversight in the software that made it destroy itself. It caring more about self preservation might even be the reason it turned on syndrome. It saw himself get damaged and immediately identified the source to stop it. If the one mr incredible fights first had this software it wouldn't continue stabbing itself.
17:33 actually you kinda missed this dark moment: As Helen is screaming that there are children aboard into the speaker you see Mirage's face morph into this face of realization. Realizing that her boss is willing to harm children... That's why she turned. Also I love this video and the way you edit it so much. I can't stop laughing at your reactions.
@@TheRealDarzii it really is! I even enjoyed the sequel. Also I really hope you take up my suggestion... it's super incredibly dark... and my favorite Disney film. Along with Tarzan and Atlantis the lost empire.
@@TheRealDarzii I also realized that she changed because Syndrome didn't value her life as Bob threatened her life. That's also why she was up in the tower. Because she was angry at him.
Edit: Mirage doesnt suddenly switch sides. She grew more and more sympathetic towards Bob when seeing how much the “death” of his family affected him and how Syndrome was willing to get her killed by Bob. Even if he knew that he wouldnt kill Mirage, it is still f’ed up to take this risk. And the robot didnt just became sentient out of nowhere, Mirage specified that the Omnidroid is a learning robot - its an AI. It learns how to fight people and thats why it is so dangerous. In the scene where Syndrome “punches” its leg off, the Omnidroid is seen scanning its missing leg and finding the source of this - connecting the dots via its learning AI to Syndromes remote. If you slow the part down where it scans, you can even read on its screen what it figured out in order to come to the conclusion. I absolutely loved the movie when I was a kid. I watched it on the regular and even had a casette tape with a narrated version which I annoyed my parents with. To this day, its one of my alltime favourites. And as a child I never quite got the subtle tones - the older I got, the more I realized. The suicide attempt, Helen thinking Bob is cheating, how having a dreadful job and not being able to engage with your passion can destroy a person, depression, PTSD, mass murder, weapons and gruesome deaths semi-visible on screen (e.g the ending). I wish we had more dark movies nowadays - and not just edgy dark movies, movies with heart and story. Like The Incredibles.
I will never understand how people blamed Mr. Incredible for “creating” syndrome. A literal child trying to insert himself into your incredibly dangerous and life endangering line of work. Of course he sent him home!
But you know, it's a child. When a child holds a grudge they'll grow up having resentment, Syndrome probably didn't know there was a bomb attached to him and he probably just thought Bob was being a douche. Bob did do the right thing though and send him home, but his first impression towards child Syndrome didn't really come up as positive.
mr incredible treated buddy badly, i understand he didnt want the kid getting hurt but he went the worst way possible, he could have mentored him a bit or took some time to talk to him. but in the movie its very clear he brushed him off rudely and forcefully and did not spend time to tell him why he should stay back

Helen calls a pilot friend Snaug for a "solid you owe me" to get that jet. Note the missiles are ignoring the flares. [They use a silhouette targeting system.]
A lot of the heroes that Mr Incredible saw were killed were also at his wedding. We see Gamma Jack there for example. Theyre of course in costume but it showed that that scene wasnt personal just because they were collegues A lot of them were his friends
When it was 2010 and I was a kid I thought “Edna mode” is just a mode for the security system now as a 17 year old I now know Edna full name is Edna mode 💀💀💀💀💀
This is why Incredibles 2 despite being more colorful and having more action doesn't hit as hard as the first movie. There doesn't seem to be much at stake for the audience to care about.
As someone who thought Incredibles 2 was decent enough as a sequeI to the first one, I disagree STRONGLY! (Get it? That's what Winston says in the movie)
Really? The stakes seemed pretty high with the sequel as well, like with the whole monorail sabotage, the home invasion, and the whole sequence on the cruise boat.
FYI. The " thin , eye mask" is known as a " domino mask". Also, Mr. Incredible was not " debriefed" by Mirage before facing the robot. He was " briefed" by her. " Debriefing" ( being " debriefed") occurs AFTER an incident or mission. It is where people are questioned about what occurred , what they did. What others did. What went right. What went wrong. " Briefing" ( being " briefed") occurs BEFORE a mission. It is where the person(s) involved in the mission are told about the goals, targets, assets, and opposition involved in the mission.
Since finding out more recently that jackjack has up to 11 and maybe more powers, I think his name actually does mean something. Jack of all traits. Its just as cheesy as the other names lol
you don't have to speculate on this, a simple google search would have revealed that the writer himself said in an interview that his name comes from jack of all trades
Love this video, just to point another thing that makes this movie amazing, is that the first robot that Mr. Incredible fights ends the fight in a volcano, and when Mirage finds Mr. Incredible he is with Frozone. So the robot was for Frozone, and probably he would have died. The little details are amazing. Sorry for my bad English, it isn’t my first language.
Realized this today! They were there for Frozone, and came across Mr Incredible, thus changing their plans, but they already had the robot made and programmed for Frozones weaknesses.
It's also noticibly smaller and even looks to be faster in getting around than the new version. Something important for a speedy hero like frozone who relies on manoeuvring a lot
17:30 you forgot to add some dark points, like how dash had some of those helicopter drone guys killed, or how violet was gonna take a bullet for dash because when that guy shot at him with his machine gun and violet created a force field dash asked her “Whoa! How are you doing that?” And she replied with “I don’t know” she was willing to give up her life for her brother

What was improved on the robot since Mr Incredible first defeated it was ( probably) the programming, so that now the robot couldn't be tricked into stabbing itself to death.
And a size that his strength couldn't throw around. A laser option due to him throwing rocks for range. Understanding when someone is underneath it and the crushing tactic.
Holy shit I never noticed that Bob kinda tossed the first Omnidroid around like nothing but with the second iteration bro was barely able to slightly lift it
@@geggy310Disney has made a comeback with inside out 2 and Deadpool and wolverine which has a ton of ticket sells all they had to do was slow down there movies promote them better with some polish.
The reason Mr Incredible was able to evade the life scanner in the cave is because he hid behind Gazerbeam's skeleton. The scanner thought the skeleton was Mr Incredible and so went back to Syndrome telling him Mr Incredible was terminated
I am a little sad you don't specifically mention how Helen just straight up tells her children "These guys will kill you" like dang, even for a kids film mentioning murder as well as showing skeletons of dead people is pretty brutal. otherwise nice video.
I love The Incredibles movies. The first is a Mary Poppins of a movie. As in “practically perfect in every way”. The sequel while not as good as the original was still really good in my opinion.
19:10 The improvement was that it is freaking huge. Not only that, it has a laser gun (which definitely doesn’t show signs of being added last minute), detachable limbs, rocket limbs and thicker shell. I have a theory that maybe the change to having more than one battery couldn’t of been done because they were working within a tight budget. Reason being, earlier blueprints of the Omnidroid showed that that model was always meant to shoot powerful lasers specifically out of its eye piece but this is never seen. Also Mirage mentions to Mr. Incredible to keep the machine fairly intact for damage can be costly, after which he has the machine turn itself into Swiss cheese and fall into lava; it’s safe to say that the Omnidroid and all its components were completely destroyed and impossible to salvage in any way. This all clearly would of damaged their budget and may of prevented them from affording multiple other batteries to prevent a relatively small amount of damage from completely de-powering the machine.
And this movie was gonna be even darker, the jet that Helen took is from her pilot friend; however, his friend was gonna be the one flying it and when the plane blew up, Helen could only save her children but not her pilot friend. There's even a scene where Helen is swimming and looks down at the pieces of the plane while it sinks at the bottom of the ocean, that was gonna be her looking at the cockpit where her friend's corpse was supposed to be (like you wouldn't explicitly see the corpse, just the cockpit, but it would've been heavily implied that his corpse was inside).
The critical flaw that the Omnidroid had fixed from when Mr. Incredible fought it is a sense of self preservation (so that it doesn't just voluntarily attack itself) Which is why the second defeat was only possible because of the remote, as it wasn't going to just attack itself (and is also probably why it turned on Syndrome, to defend itself against the biggest threat at the moment, that remote).
Honestly being so dark is a large part of what made it so good; they weren’t afraid to get *real*! And as some of the comments point out, it gives you a greater appreciation when looking back at it as an adult and understanding all the things that might’ve gone over your head as a kid
A couple behind the scenes things I believe: Enda Mode has something to do with the supers origins and is a quasi villain. Syndrome was a super and didn't realize it. Mirage was either Al or a manifestation of syndromes psyche (syndrome is a super) Mr. Incredible isn't Violets biological father.
I remembered that one of the early concepts where Bob isn't a biological father of Violet, but rather she belonged to Helen's ex-boyfriend, who was supposed be the main villain of the movie before Syndrome. His name is Xerek.
Imma be honest, when I first watched as a kid I’m pretty sure I understood the self deletion attempt and all the deaths, but my brain thought elastigirl was just mad at his boss
I just shit my pants. I just wanted to let you know. Dude so insanely proud of what you have accomplished in so little time. You have so much to be proud of! The countless uploads and time you have put in this channel has shown for a while. Makes me so happy you have an audience for the great content you have been producing for quite some time! Appreciate you! I'll always be around rooting for you!
What they fixed on the last robot model was that it had no self-preservation and stabbed itself. They didn't fix that it would do a lot of damage *if* it stabbed itself
I love this movie so much! The blooper reel was so good, I wish animated movies still did that. There was also a bonus feature about the babysitter having a really awful time watching Jack Jack because he keeps activating his powers and going through walls and stuff like a ghost and she doesn't know what the hell is going on.
The Robots weakness actually makes sense. When the Super defeats the robot, Syndrome makes an updated version, no Super Ever beats the updated robot the second time round. Thus when Syndrome believes that Mr Incredible is dead, the robot’s weakness doesn’t need addressing as its already beaten, in his eyes, the best and strongest Super. Also Syndrome might be a genius but his arrogance and lack of planning to well let’s him down. Since he has no contingency plans in case he looses his remote
What's particularly dark about the suicide scene is that the guy won the lawsuit over "not wanting to be saved". Like, would he have sued and won against a non-super trying to stop him? If yes then it must be really difficult being an emergency responder or operator of a suicide hotline because you could get sued for doing your job. If no, then it is pretty clear bias against supers. Either way, it's fucked up.
3:58 this film took 4 years to make, so it still deserves some credit to come up with the idea, since Spidey 2 was only being filmed the previous year since live action doesn’t take as much time or effort to make

18:36 Robot does not become "fully sentient out of nowhere". It's just trying to achieve objective. Which is destroying the city. It had super advanced AI from begining, which was trained over and over in strategic thinking and defeating heroes. It just put 2 and 2 together. Realized that Syndrome somehow managed to disconnect it's limb with his remote. This stands in a way of his objective, so logically this remote needs to be eliminated. There is no sentience in that bot. Just pure logic and adaptive strategy.
We need to see a prequel. We’re all the dead supers we can know their characters and stories, and maybe do a plot twist of gamma jack actually surviving and becoming the magneto in the Incredibles
A good way to do Incredibles three is to age up the kids. Age up Violet to be in college, age up Dash, age Jack Jack to be in grade school. Make the Underminer and Bomb Voyage the main villains.
Did you know the machine Mr. Incredible fought was meant for frozone? the blue light, leading mr. incredible into a hot space, it was all planned perfectly to terminate frozone. Its a really cool detail! Id love if you could make a video on that!
I heard a theory that Edna is the actual hero of the movie. Because Edna is the only one who designs the superhero suits she has to be the one who made Sybdrome’s suit as well. However because she knew about his evil plan or something she gave his suit a cape. And guess what, he dies like an othrr hero with a cape.
1 thing I loved about the incredibles is how the first robot was meant for Frozone but instead plans got changed because Mr incredible, a higher priority target showed up. Bob saved his best friend without even knowing it. We can also tell this because when Bob looks up Frozone on the PC it does him that they knew where Frozone was located.
I'm betting "Edna Mode" Made that cape and outfit for Syndrome knowing exactly what he was doing or at the very least could tell what he was becoming... Just a theory but pretty dark.
Peak Disney/Pixar Movie. Mr. Incredibles VA was also amazing, especially since you never hear superheroes exert themselves, and hearing Mr. Incredible yell as he throws something or charges is super unique.
Violet's name is a reference to ultraviolet fields, that's why she can go invisible and create force fields, and Jack Jack is a reference to Jack of all trades, that's why he has so many random superpowers
I really want a short film on Gazerbeam's story. He's the only super that we see on the island, and his skeleton is sat upright, and he had engraved the word "Kronos" into the cave wall. This suggests he discovered Syndrome's plans and broke into his database. He could have discovered the dead supers before Mr. Incredible. I just really want to see what he was doing on the island before his death. I believe he destroyed the first omnidroid, but then lost to the next one, which is the same one that Mr. Incredible first fights. But how did he discover Syndrome's password? And how did he engrave it into the wall moments before he died? What happened?
I watched this film and the second one for the first time and never knowing why I didn’t watch them before. I loved both of them but the second one is definitely my favourite.
The last omnidroid was very much improved. First fight was lost because it basically punched itself, second one was a literal rocket penetrating it. You basically just said that because he didn't survive a gunshot, it wouldn't survive someone grabbing a bullet and hitting the thing with it. Also, it's a very hard design choice to make. Both the armor and weapons should be as strong as they can be, and since Syndrome must be making them himself or having someone manufacture the parts, the material list is really limited. Basically, most metals can dent themselves or softer metals.
It wasn't uncommon for older animated movies to have deeper/darker themes either, but this era one of the last ones to have such a family friendly philosophical design. The Rescuers (1977), what sounds like a silly movie about mice, is actually about a repeat abductor using children to find precious jewels, and would've kept going. The Fox and the Hound (1981), unlike bambi this has no casualties, but it demonstrates a different sad fact of life, eventually you just won't know your friends anymore. The Prince of Egypt (1998), most people have probably heard the story of Moses, but most people forget just what was going on, enslavement and death.
The old movies were so good. I personally think it's actually healthy for kids to see an safe and moderate amount of dark or adult themes. The world simply isn't and will never be sunshine and rainbows and I think reflecting reality in a form that is safer to view just helps with education and growing up.
EDIT: Jack-Jack gets his name from the term 'jack of all trades'. It's very clever and everyone already knew this except me apparently!

He was great in the sequel
@shanerulez79 Yeah, I absolutely agree. Incredibles 2 was pretty much Jack-Jack's movie, and by far was the most interesting aspect to me.
Really? It seems a little far-fetched, but if it's true then that's incredible.

@@millo7295 bro when he sees violence in animated movie:
@@poweroffriendship2.0 That's assuming Frozone even accepts the job. He seemed pretty comfortable as a basketball player.

Super interesting! Always learning more about this movie. I love it
I’ve heard speculation that he was the actual father of Violet. Which, if true, means that there was infidelity after all, just not from Mr. Incredible. I suppose one *could* argue they wouldn’t need saving in the first place if it wasn’t for him but really that’s on Incrediboy (which in turn is because of Mr.
This actually makes sense thinking about
This one was made to put on a show and ultimately be defeated, so it makes sense to have it be stronger and faster but weaker defensively
17:33 actually you kinda missed this dark moment:
As Helen is screaming that there are children aboard into the speaker you see Mirage's face morph into this face of realization. Realizing that her boss is willing to harm children...

@@TheRealDarzii it really is! I even enjoyed the sequel. Also I really hope you take up my suggestion... it's super incredibly dark... and my favorite Disney film. Along with Tarzan and Atlantis the lost empire.

Imagine what kind of beast he'll grow up to become 😳
No Jack Jack's name is inspired by Jack of All Trades
you don't have to speculate on this, a simple google search would have revealed that the writer himself said in an interview that his name comes from jack of all trades
Shit I never thought of that
Realized this today!

Also during the “No Capes” scene, it shows supers DYING VIA HAVING A CAPE. One even gets sucked into a turbine. (Foreshadowing, huh?)
Also, the one super that gets sucked into a turbine was a teenager!
*would HAVE damaged their budget and may HAVE prevented them
And this movie was gonna be even darker, the jet that Helen took is from her pilot friend; however, his friend was gonna be the one flying it and when the plane blew up, Helen could only save her children but not her pilot friend.
Incredible fought it is a sense of self preservation (so that it doesn't just voluntarily attack itself)
Which is why the second defeat was only possible because of the remote, as it wasn't going to just attack itself (and is also probably why it turned on Syndrome, to defend itself against the biggest threat at the moment, that remote).
Jack Jack gets his name from the phrase Jack of all trades, because he has all the powers

I’m just realising that Mysterio from Spider Man: Far From Home was literally just a Syndrome Rip-Off
What's particularly dark about the suicide scene is that the guy won the lawsuit over "not wanting to be saved".
I love early Pixar. Turning red is like “really?”
A good way to do Incredibles three is to age up the kids. Age up Violet to be in college, age up Dash, age Jack Jack to be in grade school. Make the Underminer and Bomb Voyage the main villains.

Super intelligence is a power. Creativity as with Pine and Edna Mode are also super.

I always liked how Pixar was willing to go dark when it wanted to.
I might not ever be able to view this movie the same way again
That’s what I’m saying
