What alot of people might not know is that these three hadnt jammed together for probably a dozen years before Phil made it back to Kitchener... where there is magic there MAGIC! We were blessed to be at this show
I didn't realize at the time how lucky I was to see rick derringer play this tune at the ballard firehouse in seattle in the mid 90s....I wish I could be transported back ....
Thanks for watching. It was mixed by the audio person that night and added to the timeline in FCP. Personally I like the guitar a bit loud especially with Phil!
Kyle Stanton are you know what when it's good to hear when you know somebody poking appreciates good music and arts a lot of ignorant bastards out there that don't show don't know shit
@LetArtsLive Those types of cameras are interesting for sure. You're right about the sound. It's also hard to get a good video focus on the fly and they are void of many need features for good film. BUT, it is an excellent sensor for Depth of Field and you can shoot some real pro stuff with it. There is a lot of accessory gear coming out for them to help with those things and a feature has been shot with them. Ain't nothing wrong with it, just keep working it and have fun! Thanks for watching!
@LetArtsLive We used three cameras, two were Canon XH-A1's and one Canon XL-H1. All are HD. Lots of post colour correction. Yes it is a computer fan on his guitar. Go to rockynashfilms home channel and watch the Phil X Guitar Clinic part 2. Thanks for watching.
@rockynashfilms Its good for images i have a 55-200 zoom with filter 62mm also.It doesn't have vr on it though.ill use a tripod on fast shutter. It does pretty good. But now there's a 7000.Id like canon t2i.The canon s5is has mic settings. But not HD.some say the sx30is has mic settings some say no.It has no mic jack yet.I found a 1/4 inch adapter for the hotshoe and i may adapt something like zoom hq sound.
@willemkerpel1 Naw. Not the Drills. The bassist is a younger guy named Dan. The drummer would have been Dogboy at the time, but I really can't tell because I can't get a good angle on him.
Are you saying you see Derringer as the better player vs. Phil X? Don't get me wrong. I'm a Derringer fan too. Wore out more than just a couple of copies of All American boy back in the day to get that solo from his version of this Johnny WInter song accurate.........but Rick as good as he was........was never at Phil's level of playing. Phil X is stupid good and stands as proof that raw talent honed is no guarantee of commercial success. Derringer himself never saw much success beyond Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo. But the production work he did on the records he was involved with do still stand up as sounding incredible today......and way better than the way other records sounded in the early 1970s.
@rockynashfilms i like canon.I went and bought a nikon d5000.It does only 5 minute video hd.Crappy sound.Did you do a seperate sound track?I did watch the guitar clinic aesthetic cosmetic cover the hole lol.I wish i had cameras like you do.
The dreaded open F cowboy chord. To all the newbies out there...you need to know it. The first fret barre F often makes for inefficient chord changes. Practice it a few thousand times and it's your's forever. I know...it's called an F chord for good reason.
Very good band, but the guy editing the video needs to be replaced. He does do an excellent job of inducing seasickness by constantly jumping around. The music was great!
The bass player's backup vocals are freakin awesome
What alot of people might not know is that these three hadnt jammed together for probably a dozen years before Phil made it back to Kitchener... where there is magic there MAGIC!

i like the bassist's backing vocals!!!!
Phil X does his homework. That variation at 1:07 is pure Winter. Love it.
Exactly! None other than Johnny. You have to be a musician to have heard that. Great ear, catch and comment.
Yeah, that´s Winter part. In the album Johnny played the right channel and Rick Derringer the left.
Now that deserves a
"Hell Yeah"...!!!
Since 1971 I have heard all versions but this was new. Well..
Well what?
Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo Rick from Philly back in 76 baby they were the days
that bass players backup vocals were outstanding.
Love these guys ,, Phil X and company
Lol
Wow - Phil is awesome - great band - This version actually can give you Vertigo!
I didn't realize at the time how lucky I was to see rick derringer play this tune at the ballard firehouse in seattle in the mid 90s....I wish I could be transported back ....
Derringer was on fire in the late 70's. He played live so crazy fast... he's slowed down since.
Everybody loves Phil X. Rock on Phil!
Thanks for watching. It was mixed by the audio person that night and added to the timeline in FCP. Personally I like the guitar a bit loud especially with Phil!
Hampton NH Nov 15th … hells yes!

Kyle Stanton are you know what when it's good to hear when you know somebody poking appreciates good music and arts a lot of ignorant bastards out there that don't show don't know shit
Monster jam , great band :-)
What's that effect you add to the vid...oh wait. it comes from Phil X, it's not an effect. It's magic!

Different people got up to jam that night, this was a guest drummer Scott Masterson. He played in Sidenix.

Molto bravi
@FRIJJMONSTA Yes, we went out from the board to a recording machine and remixed after the fact.

LetArtsLive well dude if you don't think this is a good video you fucking will never fucking get it
@willemkerpel1 Naw. Not the Drills. The bassist is a younger guy named Dan. The drummer would have been Dogboy at the time, but I really can't tell because I can't get a good angle on him.
at the end he said mudpie on the drum kit

They are both crazy good guitar players Phil and Rick are both incredible players its pretty hard to say ones any better than the other.
Decent!!!
how does he do it with no effort? i want to be that good in 30 years or however much older he is than me
Great cover. Add a 2nd 6 String for a more full sound and it would be fantastic.
this is a great video did you use 2 cameras and what type of cameras did you use??What is that on his guitar that looks like a computer fan??
have the crills got any albums out in the EU? more importantly the UK?
Is that a PC fan cover covering the hole where his neck pickup would be?
the sound quality on this is great Did you mike each individual amp? What mic's did you use?
@rockynashfilms i like canon.I went and bought a nikon d5000.It does only 5 minute video hd.Crappy sound.Did you do a seperate sound track?I did watch the guitar clinic aesthetic cosmetic cover the hole lol.I wish i had cameras like you do.

The dreaded open F cowboy chord. To all the newbies out there...you need to know it. The first fret barre F often makes for inefficient chord changes. Practice it a few thousand times and it's your's forever. I know...it's called an F chord for good reason.
Phil Parisi was here
You're a mean mo fo on the sg
@gearsofwarmad2 I think you mean The Drills? Don't know the answer btw!
Very good band, but the guy editing the video needs to be replaced. He does do an excellent job of inducing seasickness by constantly jumping around. The music was great!
Not all that is mixing, btw. Its nice having a drummer with good dynamics, for sure.
Being absolutely capable of playing this solo note for note i was disappointed with what he chose to do with this entire tune.
What bass is the bassist using?
ha sorry i didnt watch all the way through before posting
the drummer looks like kyle gas!
You ain't no Derringer but your pretty good. is there a guitar overdub ?
i do not think so
Your lead SUX ! your good but need many hours of continuous work.
did your drummer change?
MUUUDD PIEEEE!!!! \m/ -_- \m/

Greg Fournier that is straight as you can get it dude if you don't get it any better than that you don't know music dude
ロックンロール 家来る? かな?
It sounded awesome until you fucking butchered that solo.
Really great cover, marred only by one of the worst guitar solos ever
