I'm getting really tired of companies trying to shove AI down everyone throats. Like, did we really need the snap chat ai or the Facebook ai that was the Search bar or Microsoft jamming ai into Windows and putting a water mark up if your pc is not fast enough. I was ok with the Google Search one because it's when you are actually looking for information. But holy cow its EVERYWHERE.
i'm real tired of it as well
Nothing more disappointing than knowing I can remove team Snapchat but not their ai, so I renamed the AI to be named Stinky Poopoo.
I 100% agree with you on all points, Meta AI is really annoying because it switches in and out when I'm putting in a search.
blasphemy! nothing beats an overhyped technology and I haven't seen something comparable to "AI" since "blast processing"
It’s all about the data & behaviours collection 😔
What's up with these terrible CPU naming schemes? They're throwing away perfectly good naming schemes so they can slap words like AI and Ultra in their name knowing that the average consumer barely knows what a CPU even is when buying a computer. At this rate we're gonna end up with names like "Intel Core Gigamaximus Processor Super Mega Ultra 11 9000HX" or "AMD Ryzen Quantum Crypto AIGF 9 HX10070".
ideas pushed by marketing divisions with their combined 2 brain cells
AIGF 😂
😵💫
That's because the simpletons out there are persuaded by buzz words like AI, Ultra, and Pro instead of taking the time to look at hardware specs.
then the upgrade would be AMD Ryzen Quantum Crypto AIGF 9 HX10070h
As Marques from MKBHD said;
“All of that is great, but it’s still just an iPad”
It's doesn't matter, for Apple is now was only important to release it before Snapdragon X Elite, to make their marketing from 6 months ago looks even worst.. by the way the iPadOS 18 still a month away, but actually changing.. i mean there is even a calculator app in iPadOS 18.. (so they just probably found an AI feature what they can built in, so it's not the 328th same app now, its the 1st what can do that)
*Marques
😂😂
If it could dual boot both Mac OS and iPad OS would be the coolest thing.
If i hear one more time about the AI i will throw up 🤢🤮
AI is artificial
It really depends. There's cool AI stuff too.
You shall now hear it everytime you say rAIzen :)..

I just got my brand new RX-7900XTX GPU yesterday, and so far, I am very happy. 🥰👍 I put it through its paces with Cinebench, Geekbench, 3D-Mark tests. So far so good. 🥰
I upgraded from a NGreedia GTX-1070-Ti. I am not taking any chances on those disastrous fire prone plugs, and I am no longer giving my hard-earned money to NGreedia.
a what ....NGreedia GTX-1070-Ti lol;l i gott the AMD Radeon RX 7900 xtx Asrock Aqua OC 24576 MB GDDR6 Graphics card.its fine too
@@frankd.b.9233 i been thinking about a pair of 7900 xtx taichi, or just wait and see if next gen is better since it's right around the corner. (currently have a pair of 6900 xt toxic LE)
Letting you know, my RX 6800 XT burnt out about 6 months ago.
Note, I also then upgraded to an RX 7900 XTX XD (Best Buy totaltech ‘could only’ *completely refund* my 3 year old computer. Spent basically half the price of the GPU for a *completely* upgraded brand new PC ❤❤❤)
But I’m just trying to say that AMD isn’t perfect with GPUs ether. Just keep that in mind in case anything starts to act up.
@@Norinia
Thank you, I will make a note of that.
Also, I started to notice lately that my RX7900XTX draws massive amounts of power. I know this because it's seriously tripping up my APC UPS I have. A day later, my UPS started ringing, and you could see my UPS flickers and restarting with a clicking turnover sound.
I heard that, and I thought it was going to go boom on me.
So now I have to get a 2200VA UPS.
I currently have a 1500VA and It's not enough to hold this 7900 XTX.
I went outside to feed the cats and you were STILL ranting about CPU names when I got back!
😂
BONUS DEAL: Right now the Ryzen 7 5800x is only $175 on Amazon!!!
and 12700K is $190 on newegg after $50.00 coupon
If one is going AM4 @ this point in time, do yourself a favor, and accept nothing less than an X3D. Well worth it for the lower sys latency and (min FPS) game performance.
@@LRK-GT at still over 300, it wouldn't make sense to NOT go with AM5 and 7800X3D unless it's a drop in replacement for an older gen ryzen
@@marsMayflower $230 or less 5700X3D, exists.
If one is near-ish a Microcenter*, (overall) cost is considerably lower (when bundled w/ mobo+RAM)
*I am not. Have been in the past, though.
@@LRK-GT for that money, probably the fastest gaming cpu available
1:23 it's kinda weird to see Apple release a Ipad with a very powerful neural engine while still having close to zero use for it in software... There is some Ai stuff in Logic Pro for iPad but it would have been more logical to release a IOS 18 with AI features at the same time as the new chips...
They did it to say they're the fastest.
My guess is they hope this will placate share holders who are following the AI craze. If it keeps them buying Apple stock that's good enough. They'll figure out what to do with the neural engine later.
Does anyone have an app that uses AI (Other then video object recognition and chat/search), that's not a giant server farm? How does having AI in a desktop CPU improve things for the end user if they aren't doing video recognition?
It's more that they don't want change the M series of chips to just IPad. Since it's cheaper to mass produce the same chips and publicity.
But what if this is just a develooer tool for the AI featutes what they will show us on the WWDC..? I mean if you give the developers the possibility to create AI apps on WWDC, they have almost 4 months to create tons of AI apps before iPhone launch..
Also don't forget it's about time for the first Snapdragon X Elite laptop to release, they just wanted to look it even worst their initial marketing where they compared themself to the M2, but the M4 already in the shops when it's release.. and they also can ride the AI waves, state it it's the fastest AI chip now, and just simply put an even stronger NPU in the M4 Pro and M4 Max (or just simply doubling the 16 NPU cores in the M4 Ultra with fusing 2 M4 Max together, which also have the potential to reach the 76 TOPS with that)

best hot tech news channel
Riley running tech linked and ufd tech hot news are agreeably the best!
Dam rite
Agreed!
The marketing departments for these companies, deciding on the naming schemes, just don't make sense. They're so disconnected from reality and communicating with the customers. It's almost as if they're actively, intentionally, convoluting their communication. Using a buzzword as part of your model name is frankly moronic.
Apparently the reason why arrow lake has been pushed back is because they are trying to make two massive changes to the chip. They are implementing backside power delivery and ribbonfet architecture. Currently we are using finfet architecture for microchips.
I've been alpha testing Star Citizen since 2014 and I've loved it. 10 years later and I'm still playing it and loving it.
Same, bro, same.
😂yup, same here
I'm waiting for the Ryzen AI 360 NoScope before I'm jumping in.
I have been on the Start Citizen rollercoaster ride sense 2013 and have been very entertained throughout. I have kiddos with special needs as well and feel for your struggles. For me, following and in my own little way, supporting and testing SC has been a nice bit of escape-ism though hard times. It is the game I wanted sense I played the original Battlefield and its mods. But I understand SC is not for anyone and that I am probably having fun wrong. ;-)
2:10 I think it’s more because the M4 is made on TSMC’s N3E node, which is significantly less expensive than the M3’s N3B node.
It's also supposed to be more power efficient. Hopefully the thermal issues of the M3 will be largely solved. Brett also forgot to mention that it has 2 more efficiency cores
@@braylanblack8865 N3E is less dense than N3B so no it will not be more power efficient.
But the M4 cores appear to be a much wider design (at least for floating point units) so might well be a lot bette with power due to this.
When are you going to rotate the other HN sign because one reads NH, Iv been wanting to bring this up for awhile it bothers me a little 😅
Part of me wonders if the M4 had the thermal headroom of the Macbook Pro chassis/fan if its tops would be competitive with AMD or not.
TOPs are a little bug of a hard number ot compared as every company is using a differnt base unit. Apple tend to list FP16, AMD and Qualcomm are listing Int8 but not that same type of int8 (and yes in the ML space there are multiple differnt Int8 formats).
Where are you going to place the gold button once you get it? Right in the middle of the hot news set?
I still want a coffee mug with reeces face on it. “Reece’s cup”
I'm waiting to buy a minisforum Ryzen tablet like their V3 with strix point
Are there any App's that make use of the AI of any of these CPU's? I understand the use in something used to detect objects in video and for search engines but what other use cases are out there?
Could have an Ai girlfriend who you can share your deepest secrets with
Installed Ollama for language models and Nod Ai Shark for stable diffusion yesterday. Sadly, they can't even make use of Laptop RyzenAI hardware, and I don't think anything besides "official" LM Studio does (which is windows only). So despite having RyzenAI hardware, and really, really trying to, I still have to run them on the CPU (or, as for stable diffusion, using vulcan on the iGPU). So software is still far behind and nobody actually benefits from this hardware yet until it catches up (which it will probably only do once enough people have these for companies to bother using them instead of plain old GPU compute). And you shouldn't buy based on promises what it can do in the future, but what it does rn, and rn it's essentially useless.
I much rather have one or two extra CUs than AI stuff in my CPUs that you very much.
What does the post meant by IP, in Microsoft Blog Screenshot?
Honestly 1m subs is deserved, you guys and gals at UFD Tech do a brilliant job. Discovered you guys a while back through a random YT recommendation and you're my main tech channel these days. Thanks for all the news and keep up the amazing job everyone!
In regards to sensible naming schemes:
Why didn't Intel come out of the gate, straight on the nose, with Alchemist and Battlemage naming. Call Alchemist...Alchemist Lvl 1,2,3 for their various market segments. That would have been cool, more original, and refreshing.
38 TOPS may not seem like much, except that this is just the base model M4 and you can have it in your hands next week, as opposed to maybe Q3/Q4
Will be obsolete before the end of Q2 though. .
Baldur's Gate 3 was released at Early Access in Oct 2020. 3 years later, they won 5 of the top awards. Same year that Cyberpunk was released.. (imagine if Cyberpunk had released "early access" then full released this year with 2.0)
How about the UFD9, 7, and 5?
10:25 Rant on, Bret! 😂 Not to suggest that I disagree (I don't), but watching you just go _off_ was a good time whether I had agreed or not.🙂👍🏾
There is a HUGE difference between AMD and intel naming schemes. Intel doing it is very unusual and annoying. AMD doing it just AMD changing the name yet again. Maybe I am just getting numb to stupid AMD naming schemes but I found Intel doing to be more upsetting.
20+ years down the drain we are so used to i9 i7 i5 ...
AMD is scamming buyers this way though, compared to Intel where i9 just becomes Core Ultra 9.
But people will tell you it's fine because it's AMD. I've never seen a CPU company change their naming schemes twice within 2 years, and the enthusiasts know that AMD is trying to sell you a 2017 CPU, with all of its issues discovered til this day not fixed, as brand new.
Heck they even currently sell you Ryzen 7000 APUs in laptops with Vega Graphics which are basically out of support. Last time I tried running Vega Graphics on every single 2023 AMD drivers, my 2 laptops were unusable 30 minutes after boot, and I had to rely on HP OEM drivers for one, and disable iGPU through MUX switch for the second one... It almost looks like they focused so much on gaming performance that they forgot the iGPU is here just to display things when you don't have a dGPU.
All Intel really did is change the i to Ultra and reset the generation count. AMD literally put buzzwords into their product name.
😔
One minor difference in the examples you mentioned in your Early Access argument is that successful games like Hades, V Rising, Baldur's Gate 3 are indie/AA titles (BG3 being an obvious outlier in that aspect) and at least marketed as Early Access (on Steam.)
Games like Anthem, Redfall, Suicide Squad, are titles backed by huge AAA publisher, with massive marketing budgets, which were implicitly launched as finished titles and priced accordingly.
However, your point still stands regarding the potential for Early Access (and now even fully released games) to essentially become abandonware in the current market.
6:40 Why would you acquire them if you wanted to focus on your ‘priority games’? Bad management
it sucks that MS closed the 4 studios but man their controller collections are awesome.
Love my morning Brett-Fast
I wouldnt be surprised if the marketing team for these companies hired focus groups to research if words like "AI" or "Ultra" were popular to the average consumer and went that route
3:55 😂 what year is it?
So when do you rename to become UFD AI Tech or something ?
I just got my GMKtec K8 Gaming Mini PC Ryzen 7 8845HS 32GB (5600) 1TB NVME WiFi 6E Dual 2.5 ports, it's very fast has the integrated AI but you have to activate it separately and install several programs depending on what you want to use the AI for at Bare Minimum it's ChatGPT on your PC but you can do much more depending on what you install to your AI, there are several videos on UA-cam showing step by step installation it's got like 38 for AI whatever that means, Paid $702.00 with tax on Amazon with the $200 off coupon still active
-_- idk with those studios getting closed
all i know is Tango Gameworks - from my understanding the lead of the studio left and made their own studio
Arkane... they lost 90 percent of all their developers during redfall's creation / who is actually left there???
Alpha Dog - mobile developer of 12 ppl no idea of any games they were making
Roundhouse - They are actually being folded into Zenimax Online Studios (they were already helping with ESO)
so you have one studio that lost their lead and possibly others if they followed them into the other studio, arkane was already a husk of their former selfs, a small mobile developer that hasn't launched a game since 2019 i believe, and the other technically didn't close they just merged with another studio to bolster the amount of devs for their MMO which they were already helping them to begin with
Thanks Brettski.
Apple not having a factory calculator app that says more about their customer base than anything else I can think of
Games are being tested for AI. Software and hardware AI are being tested on the new consoles for Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo lineups.
And once they do reveal their new console, all will have NPUs with CPUs and GPUs in one chip that connect all the older generations of consoles and games and media into the metaverse that is going to be Unreal Engine 5.
But people have to program their own consoles to connect to Unreal Engine 5 through the latest consoles by Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo.
You describing anthem as half a decade ago hit me wrong. I know how old it is, but somehow you defining it not as a few years or even as 5 years, but within the major scope of a decade just took the wind out of my sails.
The reason Apple released the new M4 chip is because it’s cheaper to manufacture than M3. It’s on a process node with much higher yields.
team intro and apreciation video needed 👍
8:37 - Reminds me of the "AMD K6-3+ With 3DNow" and the "AMD AthlonXP"....you know riding the coat-tails of Windows XP, just like this AI naming is biting of AI.
can't wait for AI to fizzle out like NFTs
Everyone is talking about 5090 without any actual news, it feels like once it actually comes out, it will already be old news and everyone will be expecting 6000 series news.
I love how companies are making it natural to use AI: you have no option to use things without it (copilot/gemini/ai cores on everything).
To be fair. If Microsoft is pushing watermarks saying "your pc can't run AI" there is gonna be a massive wave of people wanting laptops that do AI. And having AI in the name is genius marketing wise
I am beginning to understand just how big this AI focus may be. The way programs and processing is done will make leaps, we don't even fully realize yet.
Ooooh AI. So amazing. So incredible. So......absent in software I care about. Feels like a humongous marketing wank so far for the desktop. Still that rabbit ai and humane pin were the ducks nuts....kinda. I guess.....
Seriously, tried installing ollama and nod ai shark (supposedly best stable diffusion for ryzen/amd software) and neither of them can actually use my ryzen ai hardware - nod ai shark just barely used my iGPU via vulcan (and freezing my system while it computes). And this is with me setting up docker here and python venvs there, far from what a normal consumer would. And yet, in the end it still ran best on the CPU. Ironic.
I bet Intel is kicking themselves and saying, "Why didn't we think of adding an "a" to our naming scheme. I think ai9 makes more since than Ultra being that the next gen cpu's have just an incremental increase with AI and not ultra performance.
Surprised Apple didn't rename AI to IAI.
The M4 is also supposed to be 50% faster than… (wait for it) …the M2 IPad Pro!
I guess it’s fair since they didn’t release an M3 IPad, but it still feels wrong.
Very clear, insightful and brilliant explanation of the AI situation by Brett in this video
7 Days to Die has been in Alpha since 2013.
This has become my favorite tech channel
Apple's m4 chip does not have enough processing power to handle a calculator app for the iPad
I needs to get a shirt like yurs brett.
Adventuren'
Competition is alive in the CPU Naming industry and I hate it.
There's no way this will make it on screen. I still miss the old Hot News song. I think about it almost daily. It's right up there with the Roman Empire. When is it coming back?
M880 with 16cu rdna3.5 in top end ryzen apus is interesting! time to recycle all them Nvidia 750tis to 1060 3gb or lower end/older and amds own rx 460s 560s or lower end/older graphics cards.
Apple needs to get the M4 out not because of the AI engine but because they require the new display logic for the new dual-OLED display.
I thought amd had the naming scheme down, like in 5700g the g stands for graphics, so seeing that on a CPU you think, ohh, it has graphics onboard. They could just swap g for ai, easy. Idk how they could mess this up.
A.I. = Marketing, which means more money for products that have no use for the average everyday user
I never buy new games anymore. Too many issues at launch and i dont pay for broken/unfinished games. I wait until they're on a good sale and then i get a better optimized game for less. I haven't paid more than $20 for a game in years.
Apple really has no calculator?? Damn, ive never had an Apple product since i was a kid in the 90s. Guess Im not missing out.

new naming scheme soon the AMD AI 9 Crypto Blockchain NFT VR
is it burning? if not i will not.
Intel and AMD new CPU naming scheme: Trash
USB Naming scheme: Am i a joke to you?
Where's the cold news tho?
Honestly why they gotta Drop 'Ryzen' that names so goddamn solid to drop
I wonder if the reason why AMD changed their naming scheme is because they felt that intel changing theirs made it harder for lay people to directly compare processors against each other, so by changing the names to be more similar AMD can show their product that is in the same class as the intel product is just plain better.
Praise be space king!!!!!
I hope you understand this reference Brett. If you do what’s your legion!!
the CEO and founder of Tango leaved the studio several months ago for a new project. The remaining competent developer probably left the studio during that time.
Competent developer don't work at the same place for 20 years anymore. It's the only way to get your salary increase and work on thing that you like is by never staying in place.
if you play GTFO, you see the Ai...

speaking of early access disaster, how about Kerbal Space Program 2, it was sold as early access for $60-70 and now the studio got rid of most of their staff and original creators, I'll be asking for a refund!

Just be happy they are not renaming them to RAIzen
ok, 5080 will be faster and cheaper than the 4090 wich it will sell above "msrp" until the 5090 comes out later. you can count on nvidia to either maximize profit or we may be looking at a $3000 5090. but what do i know, i've only been watching nvidia raise prices and scalp the cards right off the assembly line since kepler
