And yet Rachel Cruz from the day Ramsey group in national has actually gone on film saying that every year renters need to have their rent increased so that they "do not feel entitled."..That is the true sentiment of the Dave Ramsey group for all of their rental units. I am a 57 year old disabled Gulf War veteran, living in my van in Phoenix. The inside of my van reaches 100° in the summers, but the winters are wonderful. I am clean and sober and even work as a security guard. It is such freedom not paying rent and utilities in our pricey world where rent prices get higher each year. This is the new American Dream. 🇺🇸

There is, of course, no one size fits all solution. I saw a documentary where others who live in their vehicles have a safe, (well, relatively safe) gated area (forgive me, I don't recall the city, but I believe it was in California ) the gated area is secured (as best they can) at night, with a sheltered pavilion with picnic tables for eating, electricity for charging phones, etc. a community microwave and burners (I'm pretty sure you have to provide your own cookware and cooler), but it's at least a little something with some degree of comfort. I believe there is also a community restroom, (not sure about shower facilities, and I'm sure there is probably safety issues in that regard) The people there have a sense of community by watching out for one another, and one gentleman has a few reliable restaurants who gladly donate the fresh daily leftovers which he shares. Although I'm certain they have their share of problems and possibly trust issues, it shows that there are people who can be extremely resourceful when given even the smallest or basic assistance. Like you, not everyone requires all their needs covered, just a little basic daily living needs can be helpful. There are citizens who need more, but the idea of helping those who live in their vehicles by offering something, who knows, it might be all that person needs to sustain themselves or to help themselves ❤. Best wishes, your courage and gratitude for you freedom is refreshing 🎉
It's the lack of Low Income housing. Example, housing here in California qualifies as Affordable housing if a 1-bedroom place rented for $2100/month or less. Way out of range for the people in this story.
Doesn't your area offer property tax deferment once you reach a certain age? In my city in Canada once you reach 60 you can sign up to defer your property taxes until your property is sold.

I was homeless for about a year. i have never done drugs and i dont drink. I was a single father, i owned my home didn't owe anyone anything. Im a very independent person. I took my daughter to school and when i got home my house had burned to the ground. I didn't have so much as a change of clothes for myself or my daughter. Fortunately i had my truck and my job. I went to Walmart for some clothes at 2am rented a motel room and lived there for nearly a year before buying a camper and setting it up behind my burnt down home. It took me about 6 more months to buy a double wide trailer house. I was blessed to be young and strong and financially ok when this happened. Because if went through yhe same thing 20 years later..... I would probably went from the hotel to the street instead of a camper.

This is the side of homelessness that a lot of people don't see. It makes me so mad that people think that all homeless people are druggies and drunks.
And I’m out to change that perception. It doesn’t help that the entertainment industry helps portray that in music videos, for example. I’m neither a druggie or a drunk. I’m educated and even lived in France during my college years for a short time. Actually, ended u homeless over there, too. Over here, I was living in my car with a cane. It wasn’t comfy. Before I ended up in my car, I was going to this church for six months. I asked for help from the church, as they were helping a new staff member that hadn’t started yet. I’ll never forget what he said, “You’re just homeless. It’s not life or death.” Yeah, it could’ve been.
I doubt anyone foresaw themselves homeless and an alcoholic or drug addict or mentally ill or a combination of any of those. It’s too bad that homeless people would be dismissed and judged no matter their situation. But as a Christian I’m called upon to show to all kindness and compassion so I guess my perception is a little different.
@@JB-et7zsHow ‘bout showing “kindness and compassion” because you’re a human being and you’re helping another human being without by prodded by your religious orientation? You can *do that* simply because it’s the right thing to do.

Check with a local animal shelter and ask if they can help with fostering your dog while you take care of your medical business, OK? Ask about local animal rescue groups who foster which is also an option. Are you on a list for Section 8 housing? If so get in touch with them, explain your medical need and see if that prods them to help. You’re gonna be OK and so is your pup.
I knew someone that worked at a local homeless shelter(actually volunteered is the correct word). She always said for many homeless it’s a way of life and they will always be homeless. For others she said they fell on hard times and within a few months they are back on their feet and off the streets. With today’s raising rent prices I can see that being much harder.

Our government "sending money to other countries" ... thats not how government appropriations work. We dont box up pounds of cash & mail it. We give that money to American workers to make whatever it is the appropriation is for so that money directly helps our economy AND helps keep our country secure.
The money that was sent to the Ukraine was for bio-weapons child trafficking gun running and drugs..All of it..😮-The president of the Ukraine purchased a $4.6 million Villa with a swimming pool in Italy..Also purchase a 3.8 million dollar Villa in Italy for his parents and purchase them three new cars..His Wife got over $1 million dollars in plastic surgery..Now he's talking about buying a $5 million dollar house in Vero Beach Florida.. follow the money..👉🏻💰
First of all, we dont send billions to foreign aid, our govt. give billions of dollars to US Corporations like banks and oil companies every year, they dont even pay taxes but get free money from us tax payers, why arent you angry at that corporate welfare and the cutting of taxes to the top 3% all bills and laws passed by Republicans.

Oh, so sorry that happened, I hope you can stay on your feet! I am sure were he was alive he would want you tobe doing well and happy, I had a stroke last year and my sweet wife saved my life
I am a senior who had worked in corporate, law and medical sectors. I had worked in corporate, law and banking sectors since I was 18 years old. It was mandatory that I pay into the Social Security and income taxes. Why on earth must Americans experience homelessness because living expenses outpaced living wages? Why is this country allowing hundreds of thousands of migrants to illegally cross our borders and surpass our rights as American citizens to live in such wretched conditions? It is shameful that this is such a sad phenomenon.
It might be how we are lucky that people are willing to come here and work because their labors are the only hope of keeping SSI viable. We'd be in a bad spot if it relied on the missing generation to keep things running. I could only afford one son, he's productive, sensible and doing his best but we'd all be better off if he had siblings. Instead, his opportunities are crippled because of the national debt that he's only recently had a chance to vote on. Now, he continues the pattern and votes for bennies.
When I was on the street people would see me.. point at me laugh, take videos on their cellphones. They don't realize it could be them next. One illness, one vehicle break down, one job loss...one paycheck away from losing it all. Today I'm seeing more and more people now on the street, a lot of older people. People with college degrees. Now Im in section 8 over 55 income based apartment...with retired nurses, school teachers, warehouse workers, preachers...im shocked they can work their whole lives and not make enough on social security to live on and have to depend on food stamps to eat. This is the system. You work 25, 30, 40 years, your in your late 60's, 70's and don't have sh*t to show for it but medical bills.

Do people have to experience one illness, one vehicle break down, one job loss or be one paycheck away from losing it all before we give a damn about those suffering extreme misfortunes? REALLY! Have we become so hard, calloused and self absorbed as individuals & a society that we only see hideous pain and suffering of others through the prism of our own "potentially suffering the same fate!" Have we de-evolved as a species so much that the simple fact that you're homeless, hurt, addicted, alone, afraid, cold, hungry, sick and more is NOT enough to drive us to meaningful action? Human decency requires we do more not less if we are secure in abundance such that we'll never be homeless.

Ive seen other videos were people had to surrender their pets because they are often in medical inpatient or live in rehab. In larger places and maybe even in smaller places it would be nice to have a charity that would take in pets until their owners could come back for them instead of losing them.
There are organizations that foster pets, and our city pound furnishes supplies to the foster. Also if the dogs are in the shelter and they can’t handle the barking etc. they try to get them into foster homes. Also a lot of rescue groups take them in, or find people to adopt them. A lot of cities, if not all bigger cities have a lot of the homeless pets on the internet now.

@@ronaldreagan-ik6hz Unfortunately a lot of people do not earn enough for housing. Here in Nashville a one bedroom apartment is on average over $1700 a month. You have to make three times that amount to qualify along with a good credit score. These rent amounts are just more than many can afford. The loss of a job, car, or a serious illness can wipe you out quickly. The widening of the income gap and the shrinking of the middle class has led to a steady decrease in the share of U.S. aggregate income held by middle class households. As this gap grows there will be more and more homeless. In effect, more than half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and one crisis away from homelessness. 59% of Americans are a single paycheck away from homelessness. That means that something as minor as an emergency room visit or a transmission failure could take three out of five employees from making ends meet to catastrophe.

How are we helping illegals? They usually move in with relatives and immediately go to work. They aren’t getting Section 8 housing vouchers. They don’t qualify for SNAP benefits. You are misinformed.
The crappy thing is that a lot of cities and counties won't allow you to put any of these tiny homes in their area. Which makes no sense if you have a lot of homeless.
Would you want a tiny home community next door? I love the idea, but even when tenants are carefully scrutinized, you’re always one person away from creating a crime hot-spot. I have seen some videos where they appear to be somewhat successful, but you MUST be very careful who you allow in, and it MUST be transitional (with a plan to become independent).

I thought the same thing, it's too much for them to deal with in life. I've seen homeless people who can't mentally recover even after losing 1 child, but to lose 3 in fairly young ages is unimaginable pain and grief.
How in the hell can we give housing and food to migrants, then neglect our aging population. They should be our number one priority. All available resources should go to our aging homeless population first. These people have contributed to the economy their whole life. It's a disgrace.😢
@MsFlame not everyone has contributed. I'm a retired 67 year old nurse who worked with the homeless population outside a large city, and took care of many who've never held a steady job, who were in and out of prison, who would live in dire conditions to avoid work, and veterans who couldn't stand to be inside walls, who couldn't stand noise, who wanted to see the stars and not a roof. We could throw many millions at this problem and it would still not be solved.
we live in the wealthiest country in the history of the world. this should not be a zero sum issue. even if it were, why think of the next disadvantaged group instead of the 1% that could actually make a difference?
Maybe the lady in SF studying about homelessness might spend her time studying the corruption with the system our politicians endorse and where all the billions go every year to fix the situation. We pretty much already know all the reasons and with the amount we’ve already spent this issue should have been resolved. 10 bucks says if she followed the money a big portion has ended back into the politicians or their friends/family businesses pockets. How we allow our government to treat its citizens this way I will never understand
Our politicians are part of the problem. Those politicians didn't put themselves in office. They were elected by the citizenry. A quick look at the large number of comments here that mention "illegals" is a definite clue as to how some of these politicians get elected. Some of these folks are so sure that a person from another country is getting benefits that Americans deserve, and is ignorant of the actual situations of either immigrants or the homeless. As long as these no-good politicians keep so ppl focused on racism, they will continue to be voted into office. Once there, the politicians block spending that would benefit the entire population, not just the "illegals". It's mazing how many ppl still can't see this!
Society doesn’t value loyalty to companies like that anymore. Once you’ve given your all your whole life to this company and you are no longer able to keep up with the younger generation of employees they do whatever they can to kick you to the curb, never acknowledging the millions youve helped line their pockets with, the loyalty that made their lives easier at your expense, keeping your nose to the grindstone for sometimes decades not even asking for a $0.50 raise every four or five years even though your bosses are making their bonuses, commissions, stock options, etc., but you were so grateful for the holiday pizza party and you got to decorate the cubicle on your birthday. Even though you had five to ten days of paid leave for the year, you were ok with having to be sure none of the 50 other employees in your department already scheduled the same time off and hoped maybe youll get to sprinkle your days off here and there depending what scrap days are left over. But your new supervisor who you just know hates your guts is going to give you shit for it because thats the day she wants and youre going to end up being punished for it and you’ll have no way to prove it so you just gotta take it and keep doing everything you’re told to cause you dont want to get another write up. You already got one for clocking in 3 minutes late 3 times this month when your car broke down and you had to get a ride and were at the mercy of someone else doing a favor for you. But that doesnt matter. No one cares. You better show up on time. You better not complain. You better step on anyone you can to keep your head above the water. 22:12 As someone who went through the Section 8 housing program in WA state, it's a nightmare process that yields little to no results. My family was on the waiting list for years before finally getting through. That's when the REAL nightmare began. Section 8 does not provide the housing, all they do is assist financially with rent (which is still amazing, don't get me wrong). But what nobody mentions is that landlords can reject you solely for that reason. Idk if that's actually legal or not, but every landlord was doing it and suffered no repercussions. When my family got Section 8 assistance, it was up to us to find the home of our choice. We applied EVERYWHERE, and NOBODY would accept us. The landlords would meet with us, give us a tour, and be friendly. Then the moment we mention we are paying with Section 8 assistance, EVERY SINGLE LANDLORD rejected us right then and there. Months went by, and we still couldn't get a place. Thankfully a sibling found a great job and was able to move my entire family with them. But holy crap, the entire housing programs in this country is a disaster.
My Section 8 renter owed me over $20k. I took a pity to rent to her when Covid started. Now she even blocked my phone. I have no choice but to inform Housing Authority. Please note it is not landlords are evil bad people who are hungry for money. We need money to maintain the buildings and pay insurance and mortgages. We are not charity organizations.
No landlord should be allowed to pick who rents it should be first come. They shouldn't be allowed to discriminate they shouldn't be allowed to do background checks and credit scores to discriminate against people. There should be a law nationally that a landlord can charge no more than one hundred dollars per bedroom a month no more,no pet deposits,no pet fees,no pet rents a person's pet is their personal property not a human being. Either that or we need a law that all landlords must put all rent invested into their property into a high interest bank account when the tenant moves or is evicted the landlord must return all rent invested into their property back to the tenant/investor the landlord keeps the interest on the account. If the landlord refuses to return the tenants investment the tenant gains full legal ownership of the property they invested into free and clear of all debts incurred against said property.

I do agree the the country needs more affordable housing but that does not mean we should not help Ukraine. Putin has said he want to take back land that used to be soviet. The question to try and support democracy across the world and stop a world war from starting that is why helping Ukraine is important.

I pray that as they get older and go through life's changes, that the never have to experience what I did. I pray that those who use drugs and alcohol can find a better path in life.
It's been proving time and time again, it's cheaper to "help" by housing the homeless and providing social services than it is to do nothing. Yet civic leaders continue to operate with DEPRAVED indifference. There is NO EXCUSE not to do what is fiscally cheaper and morally right!

(construction accident, epileptic seizure resulting in a car accident and cancer). I am so sorry for them. No wonder they became homeless. My heart goes out to you all.
I think this is a great but brutally sobering video. I myself am at the ripe age of 60, soon to be 61. physically in very good condition. So very gratefull. Being a veteran of 11 years of service, I thank God have full medical coverage through the VA system. Now the issue is. Though I work full time and plan to work at least until I'm 70 years of age. I will need to take social security at 62. With the cost increase of everything I simply have no choice. The homeless and drug addiction problem should be at the top of the list of things to fix in this country.
You are (very likely) in very good condition due to no smoking, drinking, illegal drugs...and being a law abiding citizen. It is all about making good choices.. Choosing to ingest illegal drugs is not 'an accidental overdose'....bad choices.
If you are 62 and on ssi the government doesn't allow you to make any kind of money you would loose ssi benefits via penalties and basically be paying it back. Crazy since you paid into ssi your entire life. Very sad
This is heart breaking. Don't judge, cos no matter what lead these people to homelesness...where they are now is hell. They are suffering beyond what you in your warm bed can imagine. If you judge, you desrve to be there more than they do.
Incredible Tiny Homes out of Newport TN. They build tiny houses starting at $22,500! We have one and use it as an airbnb. What was shown in this video is an everday occurance for me, I Work in healthcare (Radiology) and I see firsthand the effects of homelessness particularly on the elderly. The society we have constructed where the extended family is non-existent has devastated this country. Government can't and won't solve this problem. Until we return to what has worked for humanity for thousands of years (small, highly close knit communitys/kinships) where the young, disabled, and elderly are cared for by their local familial/kinship connections this problem of intractable homelessness will worsen
I would agree with you if it was the before about 1960 when most families still lived on farms that had lot of land. Today most people live in apartments with roommates or friends and not in single family home. Most people live in the cities or suburbs so getting to know your neighbors are impossible in large numbers. When most people are off to a day job by 6 am I am still asleep because I get off at 11pm from my job at the hospital across the street. Industrialization changed that way of life and that will never come back.
I grew up in a multigenerational household w/various family coming & going. Now family home is gone so everyone on their own as far as sharing space is concerned.
It’s HORRIBLE that our government is helping migrants before our OWN people. Open borders is destroying this country; our seniors; vets etc are being put to the side. Evil is very real in this country 😡 I’m a senior and am so grateful that I have a home; breaks my heart the suffering 💔
I agree with your comment. It is horrible that the illegals are getting everything handed to them for free. And some people might hate my comment. But the US and the veterans should be taken care of first.
When people try to help those in the community, there is backlash. I don’t want that shelter near my neighborhood. I don’t want low income housing near me. We have Section 8 but many abuse and cause issues for others to have affordable home options made to them. Rental assistance in many southern states (millions of dollars)were sent back because they said residents didn’t need it.

Why aren’t you with your son? You’re literally complaining about the handout you get and home you have. These others have no home or handout. You get free money! Still complaining! the audacity
When we go digital the government will start clawing back money if it goes to people with incomes, Just like when they startd taxing Social Security, they will stop haliming anybody but the TRULY DESTITUTE, if you have a car you will have to SELL it,
This is my story. I got sick and lost everything! Just got out of a 21 weeks hospital stay after 5 surgeries. Been sick since 2021 and no place to live. 62 and trying to start over. What little I have earned is consumed with wound supplies and colostomy bags. As for friends or family let’s just say, it’s been very inconvenient that I didn’t die when everyone expected me to. I’m not looking for anything free, just maybe a place clean and safe to sleep. Some place priced accordingly to my ability to pay. I’m not on any assistance because I can’t guarantee what I can earn month to month and I won’t lie!
I filed for early social security when I was 62... Where I live, they have apartments for seniors that are income based... They usually have them in cities and towns... Hope this helps... I took my social security early bc I got a positive cancer diagnosis

All of these people spent their entire lives during the biggest economic boom the world has ever seen without a single thought about their retirement. You have to realize as a person that the world is not going to take care of you and you have to take care of yourself. You should be saving/investing as much as you can because I guarantee one day you will need every penny of that money. I earn a very decent living and used to drive new trucks, travel all the time and spend at will. I witnessed a relative go through something similar to what these people are going through a few years back and it absolutely terrified me to the point to where I am working/saving/investing as much as possible. Saving for retirement should be everyone's #1 priority.
After watching so many homeless videos of hopelessness in US its refreshing to see the State of Nashville having organisations that actually help house & assist them & inspire people to do their part to contribute in some small way even like $2 to buy a regular newspaper goes a long way & gives them meaningful employment most inspiring & God bless their good work amen! 🙏
I have been on my own mainly since 17 now 62. There are certain skills and knowledge that can make it easier to succeed and never be homeless. I see how these people made their life more difficult so when mishaps happened more likely to be homeless. 😢😢😢😢. If you have health issues. . Don't drink soda. If you don't have enough money for life alternating emergencies, don't get a pet, even an emotional pet. Drinking and drugs will numb you and not solve anything but leave you worse off. I say this with love not judgement. It is not one thing but a combination of daily choices to make since a teen. Stoicism help. I had bad experiences like all ..but staying grounded helps with ready set back up plans.
You really have to get ahead of these things. So many don’t think they will get old, or they stay in situations too long. The government also needs to have affordable housing and rent control in place, along with wages based on local housing cost.
Nope. Look what happens every time the government gets involved with anything. And no thank you to them to be able to tell a business owner how to run it. That’s what property and renting is.
AGAIN it would be illegal for the government to do any more than de-minimus to help the poor buy things that are sold like healthcare/housing they are billion dollar BUSINESSES! You cant give people things that are sold. That is against WTO rules.
You have no sense of the reality of this country. Bad things happen to good honest hard working people. Why don’t you go volunteer at a homeless shelter and actually talk to people before you judge them so harshly.
Unhoused is such a great way to say it, it puts a focus on how flawed the system is, and how ultimately, people do not lack a home, a home is just lacking of people...
Fewer landlords accepting Section 8 vouchers, the gentrification of older neighborhoods, the "don't build affordable housing in my backyard " attitude, private equity firms becoming landlords, & cumbersome & convoluted bureaucracy prevents the development of multi-unit housing contributes to the scarcity of affordable housing.
yes, because someone that worked hard to buy a home does not want a low income housing unit and all the crime that comes with it moving in next to them.
Look it up. all over the internet is the horror stories of section 8 renters by landlords. the rentors have such a bad reputation overall that landlords turn down guaranteed rent from the government. think about that. Government is the problem. progressive stupidity is the problem. @@Missy-Missy1111
@@Missy-Missy1111 it’s interesting how the progressive Brian works. Democrats love demonizing all republicans as “right wing” supporters- which is untrue yet when I say a large percentage of section 8 renters are bad- which is a fact- you are quick to say most of them are not. See the hypocrisy?
As long as the most vulnerable members of society remain unhoused; as long as children go to bed with empty stomachs; as long as people can’t get the care they need we don’t get to call America “the greatest country in the world”.
Only when our government makes new laws about real estate investing and buying. ..Houses are a necessity of life and should not be used as a purpose to get rich. And if a landlord is a slum landlord then he forfeits his property. So many issues could be solved if laws were changed.
The government created the mess for a reason to destroy our way of life, it will not fix the problem they created to bring in socialism which turns into communism, or worse!
obviously you have never owned rental property. Mom & Pops don't get rich off rental property; in fact, for the last decade they are lucky to break even. People I know have rental property to help with their retirement. Landlords won't do Section 8 anymore because too many tenants damage their property, and don't pay rent, and then have to be evicted (at the landlord's expense). Housing is not a Constitutional right and there's something wrong with our society when a person born here with every opportunity is homeless, but a foreigner coming here with nothing and can't speak English, will work hard and be successful and always have a home
We need a national law that a landlord can charge no more than one hundred dollars per bedroom. Or a law that all landlords must put all rent invested into their property into a high interest bank account, when the tenant/investor moves or is evicted the landlord pays back every penny the tenant investments into their property the landlord keeps the interest,if the landlord refuses to return the tenants investment the tenant gains full legal ownership of said property free and clear of all debts incurred against said property. Why can someone buy a house/property live in it and turn around and sell it and get a return on their money but someone who rents is constantly investing their money into someone else's property get fkd over robbed of everything and thrown into the streets like a animal and nothing to show for the money that invested into the landlords property it's grand larceny, racketeering, predatory practices on a massive scale and domestic terrorism.
My brother is homeless due to a lifetime of very bad financial decisions, being a selfish narcissist who just uses people and being an overall horrible asshole.
That's the thing, it's actually pretty easy to miss a paycheck and essentially go homeless. But from what I've seen, most people don't go homeless because they either have a friend or a family member that will give them housing till they get back on their feet.
Only if you’re investing the money you would have spent on rent in the markets. You have to get rich
Lack of affordable housing, is the problem, 69%of homeless population doesn't use drugs/ booze. People work 50 + hours and can't pay rents!
It's the lack of Low Income housing. Example, housing here in California qualifies as Affordable housing if a 1-bedroom place rented for $2100/month or less. Way out of range for the people in this story.

I feel guilty for what I’m complaining about…
This is the side of homelessness that a lot of people don't see.
Even if someone is a "drunk" or on drugs as you say they are still humans and no one wants to be on drugs or drunk. I have been sober since 2016 and the only reason why I never was homeless was because I had a supportive family. Not everyone has that. Please be kind

The problem with foreign aid is it is mostly for military arms, not true aid

Exactly!

How we allow our government to treat its citizens this way I will never understand
absolute truth ...

I have no choice but to inform
Housing Authority. Please note it is not landlords are evil bad people who are hungry for money. We need money to maintain the buildings and pay insurance and mortgages. We are not charity organizations.
Section 8 is a nightmare both on some landlords and also on the potential tenant.

I am just trying to stay home and have NO support. Atlanta is the worst place for seniors without jobs. I pick up trash along the road for tips, but people are not that generous. No bad habits, just frustration about being unfairly treated..
I'm a native nashvillian homelessness was never this bad it only got worse when we became a corporate hellscape!!! Nashville has changed and not for the better
I'm so happy, mom & sassy have a home! Thank the Lord❤
I'm 53 and in the same shape and health that I was in my 20s, people need to take better care of themselves.
OMG that couple losr 3 grown kids over 3 years and had a house fire and then their friend that put them up died .boy theyve had bad luck
Oh my gosh, that poor couple that lost 3 of their kids like that back to back. My grandmas was the only person I thought I'd ever meet to have lost 3/4 kids as young adults.
You are (very likely) in very good condition due to no smoking, drinking, illegal drugs...and being a law abiding
citizen.
It is all about making good choices..
Choosing to ingest illegal drugs is not
'an accidental overdose'....bad choices.
WTO GATS article 1:3 limits VA to only active duty military not ex military. Buy insurance !
If you are 62 and on ssi the government doesn't allow you to make any kind of money you would loose ssi benefits via penalties and basically be paying it back. Crazy since you paid into ssi your entire life. Very sad
If you can delay claiming till the next Jan they add ,8 %, 200-300 more per month for rest of life on soc sec. Call a soc sec lawyer get a rep
This is heart breaking. Don't judge, cos no matter what lead these people to homelesness...where they are now is hell. They are suffering beyond what you in your warm bed can imagine. If you judge, you desrve to be there more than they do.
It’s so sad families aren’t there for each other any more
Incredible Tiny Homes out of Newport TN. They build tiny houses starting at $22,500! We have one and use it as an airbnb. Real toilet, real kitchen, real door/windows, made from engineer steel panels. Very insulated and ON WHEELS. Governments need to look at Tiny houses, not the foundation ti y homes. tiny houses on wheels, so they can move and be moved.
Chinese people bring in their parents to take care of their kids they are smart!
Evil is very real in this country 😡
I’m a senior and am so grateful that I have a home; breaks my heart the suffering 💔
Open borders is how you got here, historically.
Yes. The last election show you what happened when you make bad choices in elections, when the stupid people's and tyrants runs and ruins the Country.
MIgrants are oftwn the needed workers for overseas corporations so we have to let some in to take the jobs that otherwise would be done by itenerant US workers This is the . WTO rules.
Me and my husband have been homeless for 3 years no drink or drugs I have had 3 surgeries before my open heart operation ,I have emphysema, spine disease, dementia arthritis hubby's health is not good ,we made it through the winter in Maine thank God it was mild hope something changes trump say he's gonna cut social security we are having a hard time as it is . Praying that someday I will have a home hopefully before I die so sad there is so many people on the streets and more added daily .Janet Mills governor of Maine would rather take care of the migrants than people in maine living on streets😢
Yes, they immediately built several brand-new apartments for MIGRANTS ONLY in Brunswick, Maine while the homeless citizens remained unhoused.
Trauma , mine started at 10, is a direct link to addiction, homelessness and difficult life . Then chronic health conditions, hit hard after 50 ,weekly.
It’s really difficult to survive on disability
Especially when you missed a lot of time you could have worked from illness and injuries
And having low paying jobs means you get less when you get disability
I was homeless with my son for a year
I live in a horrible apartment with a slumlord and I’m constantly in fear that the next rent increase will make us homeless again
Same here.
That doesn't make sense. You can always update your earnings with these agencies
If you can, you should consider relocating to south Florida. There are many options for seniors there.... because there's so many seniors there.
I’m truly sorry for you Lorrie. My heart hurts for you. I hope you know that God loves you and no matter what you are not alone. I’m praying for you, for peace that passes all understanding and that you have accepted Christ Jesus as your savior.
Thank you for reminding me that there are others that have a much harder life than I do. God bless you.
So how much money did you contribute to the hospitals? Thats society's way on making sure you pay to participate.
I went through this the only difference is I had a vehicle to sleep in. I didn't drink or do drugs that's not what put me there. God protected me. I worked over 40 yrs and still went through this but never gave up. Now I bouggt a house in WV. I'm building a small homestead on my 50x100 lot with a double wide. God will help. I was sick out there. I'm ok but still battling the physical reprocussions of it. God will help them He did me.❤❤❤
We have too many immigrants in the US now. We arent taking care of our own responsibly now
Praying for you Brother 🙏❤I have a heart for people without homes 🏡
The cost of living = no savings
Social security was never to be the only thing to live on.
Its insane how many people are homeless in the Bay Area, because greed is OUT OF CONTROL
Easily one of the best comments.
Yes this end of the day is what will really help. I’m glad you gave this advice.
Learn Linux and Unix, its like a $10000 gift to you to use to do whatever
You really have to get ahead of these things. So many don’t think they will get old, or they stay in situations too long.
The government also needs to have affordable housing and rent control in place, along with wages based on local housing cost.
Nashville does have affordable housing but probably not enough, and here, hirers determine the wages, not the government.
Im a 58 yr old and this really makes me think...wow..powerful documentary
Fewer landlords accepting Section 8 vouchers, the gentrification of older neighborhoods, the "don't build affordable housing in my backyard " attitude, private equity firms becoming landlords, & cumbersome & convoluted bureaucracy prevents the development of multi-unit housing contributes to the scarcity of affordable housing.
landlords dont want section 8 because so many section 8 renters destroy properties.
yes, because someone that worked hard to buy a home does not want a low income housing unit and all the crime that comes with it moving in next to them.
Not all Section 8 tenants are bad renters. That's like say all cops are bad.
Look it up. all over the internet is the horror stories of section 8 renters by landlords. the rentors have such a bad reputation overall that landlords turn down guaranteed rent from the government. think about that. Government is the problem. progressive stupidity is the problem. @@Missy-Missy1111
@@Missy-Missy1111 it’s interesting how the progressive Brian works.
Democrats love demonizing all republicans as “right wing” supporters- which is untrue
yet when I say a large percentage of section 8 renters are bad- which is a fact- you are quick to say most of them are not.
Lobbyists make the laws.

OMG's a tenant is not an investor 🤣
❤Affordable Housing is needed here in San Diego ❤California ❤
My brother is homeless due to a lifetime of very bad financial decisions, being a selfish narcissist who just uses people and being an overall horrible asshole.
Description of my sister.
I think we all know someone like this
That's the thing, it's actually pretty easy to miss a paycheck and essentially go homeless. But from what I've seen, most people don't go homeless because they either have a friend or a family member that will give them housing till they get back on their feet. Narcissistic A**holes don't have friends/family willing to help them. A sad theme you'll notice among homeless people is that they don't have anybody except themselves.
Err abusive scapegoating families do exist. Not saying yours is like that. I’m just saying it’s a bit weird to overlook this fact .
My brother will be homeless when he gets out of prison for similar reasons.
I've been homeless. I didn't do drugs, or drink or even smoke. There are many reasons you can become homeless and no one is immune to it.
