Breakfast Potatoes
RECIPE COURTESY OF ANNE BURRELL
Level: Easy
Total: 50 min
Active: 40 min
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
3 Yukon gold potatoes, medium dice
2 garlic cloves, smashed
Kosher salt
3 slices bacon, cut into lardons
1 tablespoon olive oil, plus more if needed
1/2 medium Spanish onion, diced
Pinch crushed red pepper
1 red bell pepper, diced
1/2 teaspoon seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay
2 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh chives
Directions
Place the potatoes and garlic in a large pot. Cover them with water and season the water generously with salt. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 8 minutes. Drain the potatoes and discard the garlic. Let the potatoes cool.
Put the bacon and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet. Turn the heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until crisp, about 5 minutes. Add the onions, some salt and crushed red pepper and saute until soft, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the bell pepper and continue to cook until beginning to soften, 3 to 4 minutes more. Add the potatoes and cook until crispy, 4 to 5 minutes, adding more olive oil if needed. Season with the seafood seasoning and sprinkle with the chives.

chef anne is the best. she speaks clear and shows steps by steps. she doesn't waste food or use fancy technique to show off like many celebrity chefs do. shes the perfect chef for this show.
Why does this have almost 400 likes and no comments
@@dereklalande8011 you're wasting the spacebar lmao-
Indeed !! I totally agree with ya!
@@dereklalande8011 i- thats not wasting LOL
So true
Anne is such a good teacher! "Slices, sticks, dices" is so helpful!
So easy even my 6 year old niece can do it.
Yes it is!
Lol
R u being sarcastic?
@@jenniferrosenblum1310 I find it hard lol
Q: How stressed out am I?
A: Not
😂
she’s so likeable! 😂
YESSSS SHE IS LITERALLY TEACHING ME HOW TO CUT STUFF 😂
Same! I’m an ok cook but I still struggle on cutting onions and red peppers lol
She's actually a very good teacher. Clear and consice. Id love to get cooking lessons from her
She's an awesome teacher. That's why she usually wins!
DAMN this is so helpful. I never thought about the technique when it comes to chopping things like potatoes
Anne's hair always on point, literally. 😊
Healthy Recipe Channel yeah... pointing to the sky❗️🤣
ive been at culinary school for three years and i understand this so much quicker she is such a clear speaker and teacher
I like that there were no weird ingredients in this dish, unlike what I usually see on this channel.
What are unusual ingredients they usually work with I can’t remember any?❤️
@@DoglasBubbleTrousers Hi, Karen. Thanks for the response… three years later. So far mine has gotten 195 upvotes, which tells me I’m not wrong. Have a good one. 😘
3:27 "Otherwise it'll be much too spicy"
Me, an Indonesian: ?????????
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT SO TOO, FELLOW WKWKWKLAND
Same and I’m American 😂
Ah yes i see, spice makes everything better, iam also an indonesian🇮🇩🇮🇩
I'm Indonesian and I really can't stand with spicy things 🤣🤣🤣,
Im chinese
I miss when Anne Burrell had her own show!
Rachel Ray Calls Olive Oil: EVOO
Anne Burrel: Earl
Nice!
I learned how to dice an onion from watching this show years ago :')
(I was raised on condiment sandwiches and TV dinners lol so when I moved out I had pretty much NO cooking skills to speak of 😆)
Omg. Me too. Not a lot of cooking where i grew up. I might try to make this recipe
I feel bad that you didn’t have a cook in your life because even a something as simple as grilled cheese was better than a TV dinner but glad your cooking it’s therapeutic
I feel you. Nothing to be ashamed of.
I love the way she cooks and teaches 👏🏾
So true
Guess I'm the only one who thought that was alot of salt.
It's really not. You want to use a lot of salt when you boil stuff.
That’s what I though too. A pinch of salt always seem like a handful lmaoo
Not a literal pinch
@@tiantian4290 not when you're boiling . That much salt gives enough flavor when its boiled. When boiling pasta, the water has to be as salty as sea water.
its more than alot
Im sorry, is it just me or at 3:20 when she says a pinch of salt it looks more like a hand full 😂
I noticed that too
Omg, chef Burrell looks amazing!!! I haven't seen her in years!! I used to watch her all the time!!
She's the reason I say "Brown food is GOOD FOOD!" LOL
I love Chef Anne Burrell. Intelligence + Humor of hers = EVERYTHING
Okay I'm a culinary student whos about to graduate so of course I watch little clips like this of cooking shows, and finally someone else uses the knives we were given in college! I'm not the only one who loves them!
I'm a pretty decent cook, but I love watching this short videos like this to learn how others do stuff. The way Chef Anne created this was way simpler then I was taught and takes way less time. Also I learned how to properly cut an onion so I don't have to worry about the onion juice going all over while I'm cutting the full onion at once.
"discard the garlic" yeah, right!
Nope it stays!
Chef Anne is a great chef because she’s a great teacher 👍🏼
I tried this with turkey bacon and this is a very simple recipe i recommend it taste good at its super duper easy
It's funny how easy things can be once they're explained correctly
This recipe isn't super complicated or fancy. But you know what? I bet that most people who just started cooking will be able to master this and then branch out. I also really like her cutting techniques.
I don’t know why this was in my recommendations but I remember watching her on cooking shows as a kid, she was always fun! I love how she makes it simple so that anyone could do it!
Y'all, I'll literally eat potato anything. It's seriously the best savory food on the planet
Cooking with you right now! Thank you so much for the tips!
I made this it was delicious I’m so happy I have something new to eat for breakfast
Just woke up and this is on my wish list. I need!!!!
How do you like your potato’s in the morning?
Yeah I want someone to explain to me what life is like this. Seriously that would've so much easy 😂😂
Very nice teacher and shows very good how to do everything directions
Totally making this tomorrow for breakfast!
WE HAVE AN ONION THAT’S CUT!!!!!
*BUT IT’S TOGETHERRRRR!!!*
Thank You! My homefries never come out the same every time. My bacon grease no longer has a strong flavor. I always use paprika just before I remove the homefries from the pan. I like mixing over-easy eggs, and ketchup into my potatoes before I eat them. It is the egg yokes I am really after. I like mixing it all together and eating it with buttered toast.
i loved this tutorial on how to cut the veggies
wow nice cutting and the knife was so sharf. tnx for sharing
That looks so good!I wish I could have a double serving of those potatoes.
I watched Anne once. She told me to make the water salty like the ocean. And I've done that ever since
Slice them downtown love her ❤️❤️❤️😂😂❤️❤️ Her explanations are gold
I am not a chef or a good cooker but she is really a good teacher cause every time she cut som she shows it to the lets call them student and that really helpful and i even learned
I absolutely adore her. She's a lovable dollop of whip cream, hair and all. ❤️
Yummy good job love it
Wow!!! She really is an excellent teacher!
she's not so good
Beautiful video Chef 🔥❤
Looks very tasty. 😋
When i was a teen i loved watching her TV show, she inspired me
Oh I love potatoes too so much. That looked fantastic Yummy yum :)
The fact that she is better than my school chef make me in tears and the cool tattoos also t-t
Chef Anne "IS" A rockstar!!!! 💚 💛 💜
wow,,, amazing..
Love, Anne!😍
Anne is such a queen at cooking
They look yummy 😋💖
Shes a great teacher!
ah she is just so polite i love this show mancx
Ya anna it's look very good and delicious it's a wonderful recipe 😍🤤😋😍❤️🤤😋😍
I love potato toooo!! Wow potato are soooo good .
Even though I feel like anyone could do this pretty easily remember that this show is called the worst cooks in America and oh boy does that name really deliver!
I love how she acts like she is teaching a baby to walk 😆
Like they say. You gotta meet them where they are
Best way to cut onion, will definitely try it
I just learned so many things in one video
Thanks I am learning from you
bro i am LEARNING! in no way am i a Bad chef but i am certainly still in the realm of just okay. learning so much about cutting rn
Looks so delish. I am definitely going to try adding the bacon.
She seems like a really good teacher and chef, but...
Me watching her put salt; *THAT'S TOO MUCH*
Me watching her put red pepper flakes: *THAT'S TOO LITTLE"
Hi my friend, very good job
I seriously don't understand how people still mess up with such a good teacher.
Shes actually so good
Love the food
Never seen anyone boil the potatoes first. This looks bomb af!!
Why did they cook all that food just to have everybody share 1 serving off the same plate?
I like breakfast potatoes. That is potatoes for breakfast served with the bacon egg and food but I like them simpler and larger say 1+ inch. That way they are potatoes. Otherwise they are a side dish.
I’m must try! Where is the frittata recipe?
The “hairy end” of an onion... I’ll never un-hear this... Innocence: gone forever. The only remaining option is to live with it in my consciousness.
Its 2:30 am now and im making this cuz i got hungry when i saw this
To that chef it's easy to me it would take me all eternity to make that food
Need to see that one more time
Leftover French Fries (Chips, for our friends across the pond), cut across at 1/2" lengths, and heated in a skillet with a bit of oil, make great hash browns, or, add chopped up roast beef or other meat to make great hash! Add tiny cubes of any leftover root veg to your hash (beets, turnips, carrots etc), too!
Fitting that Anne Burrell is on Worst Cooks in America...
I just love Anne Burrell. But not for her cooking skills which are wonderful. I just love people who seem happy. I wish I could be among you.
she is so good at explaining everything omf also her hair is fckn awesome
Nice video I like your all video 💞💞🌷💞💞
How did Anne not cry from the onions
I love these videos but I really need to get off of foodtube it’s 3 am and I want to make a 4 course meal.
5:06...is that guy from full houseeeeeee
Cooking shows like this start hitting different after Food Wars
Yummy
You can learn good cookery watching this show. The contest is beside the point. I'm suspicious that ringers manage to get on the show and that bugs me. It's TV. Otherwise it's hard to believe people this goofy and dopey are out there walking around in the world.
Good 👍
I’m probably one of the few ppl who don’t like bacon... but I’ll make this without it. Looks great 👍
Imagine if gordon ramsey was judge on this lmao. Id pay to see that
Man if I ever scraped the pan like that(I’m 7), my mom would kill me
im 11 and i help my mum a lot by dicing and cutting vegetables and the people in this show dont even know how to cut an avacado
Non stick pans you can't but cast iron its ok
@@margaretweber3931 i dont use cast iron pans tho-
@@hongmeizhang6054 you definitely need to learn to cook with cast iron! They are the best for all cooking and last forever! Any and all non-stick pans have an "expiration date"... that coating will wear off at some point.
I started thinking right, Oh homefries that's the easiest potato dish ever there's no way you can make that inedible.
Tip: [mis en place] always prepare all your ingredients before cooking
4:07 That one potato dice that fell off the tray onto the stove. Poor potato.
I consider myself a pretty good cook, but I was never 'taught' how to do things so my knife techniques are wack. Chef Anne taught me how to slice an onion correctly!
Mmmm, when do we eat? 😋
Whoopi from "The View" needed this recipe.
Right 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Skip boiling the potatoes! You can get them soft enough in the pan if you saute them with a little bit of water to create some steam and cover!
