You should have seen the 134 that replaced that car. It was amazing until he planted it headlong into a cliff face at Coppa Carotti at about 130mph.
They say they think he lost track of where he was at on the track

Unfortunately I saw a video of the accident and it's truly heartbreaking. People watching went from cheering to crying so fast. Just talking about brings up allot of emotion I can feel the tears building up. RIP George

If you haven't already, please look up videos of that BMW. One of the best sounding v8's around and was driven on the limit all the time.

Things i need in my live. The newer Judd V8 from legend Georg Plasa ist literally my favorite racing car of all time.
If i win the lottery i would 100% build a racing car around of one of those Judd V8 engines. Cant get better then that. Imagine something like a Miata with this engine.
Or a Lotus Elise, Opel Speedster.
That Judd powered E36 is definitely legendary. I know all about it, even in Wichita Ks USA. Turns heads everywhere it goes and makes men’s you know what stand at attention. Sounds like this car is good hands. Rip Georg Plasa !!!

Now this is something I would love to watch everyday. Germany is the best way to start this series off with all that racing heritage it has. Hope that intro never changes either if you decide to do future seasons.

Absolutely adore this car and the gorgeous sound that Judd V8 produces. Rip to the legend Georg Plasa but I think that Georg would be happy to see his prized hillclimb racecar taken care of and restored to race ready condition after he's passed.

A little explanation for all the non-German audience. In Germany there is an institution called the TÜV, its main purpose is everybody must present their vehicle every two years and they inspect whether they are safe to drive on the streets. Unfortunately, and I don't know why it came this way, but any proper modification of your vehicle is considered unsafe and instantly renders your car illegal to drive. You personally or the company that produces a part has to go through a certification process to prove that the part is actually safe. So, you want to put in a minor thing like led lights, well fuck you, your car is now a murder machine and illegal to drive. You practically cannot do any fab work on your car, cause in theory every hole you drill and every piece you weld in has to be tested whether it reduces your safety. Even roll cages are considered dangerous before proven otherwise. That's why real car modification is basically dead in Germany. Also very counter intuitively car modification is also in a very bad light in the public, one might think, Germany the land of the car would be filled with petrol heads, but the reality appears to be the complete opposite.
I think there should be a safety standard but in typical German fashion they've taken it too far.
Here in the UK pretty much anything goes, even the supposedly track only Aston Martin Vulcan has been made road legal by a company called RML, it cost it's owner rather a lot of money but it was definitely worth it.
Australia has similar shitty laws where even an aftermarket air filter will get your car taken off the road

That's just ridiculous.
Well roll cages and LED headlights are unsafe. In most instances most mods are done in an unsafe manner. So requiring proof of an engineered solution is reasonable. Installing LED headlights in a housing not designed for it can potentially blind people. It's illegal here in the states as well. LED turn signals generally change the timing of the blinker and can potentially blow fuses. Which will ultimately result in someone driving with no signals although tbh I doubt that is illegal in Germany. Roll cages although you may see it as something that keeps you safe in reality it does not in a street car. Cars are designed to be completely destroyed in a major accident. They are destroyed to increase your likelihood of survival and just as important the people you collide with. Roll cages will change the dynamics completely and could potentially cost you or more importantly the person you collide with their life. So unless those modifications are engineered they should be illegal. Because although you believe they just affect your safety in reality it effects everyone on the road. Car manufacturers spend millions designing cars that can keep you and others alive. It would be stupid for the government to allow people with no engineering background modify their road cars. In the US because of money problems a lot of states removed safety inspections from their inspection process. A lot of states don't even do proper emission testing because of the cost and barrier of entry. Most car modifications effects the safety of a vehicle in some way. None increase safety. Not even upgraded brake calipers increase safety unless engineered.

Are you telling me that putting bigger wheels & tyres ( therefore increasing your car's footprint ) along with a nice set of AP Racing brakes WON'T increase safety for everyone?
Upgrading headlight bulbs with new ones that give you a better view of the road ahead, & I'm talking of EU certified ones here not some strobing tacky add-ons.
Some people shouldn't be allowed to modify their car, lack of taste being their main crime.

Words can't accurately portray my excitement at seeing the Judd E36 on Hoonigan. As a BMW fanboi in general, and an E36 enthusiast in particular (shoutout Dan for your beast E36, need more content on that monster), seeing this car in my subscription feed today was really exciting. Love the car, super stoked that it made it on my favourite automotive channel, maybe a Build Breakdown in the future? Hey? ;D lol

I have that Judd E36 in Assetto Corsa. Super fun hillclimb car, one of the best ever modded into the game.
It's a real skill to be able to tune shocks to achieve optimum performance from a vehicle. Before my stroke I was a powersports engineer at FOX and it's a rad sensation when you can feel the difference after bolting on a set of tuned dampers on your ride. I pumped out new applications when the FOX released their new Float Evol front shocks for sport ATVs. Then I got cancer just as UTVs were starting to grow from utility to sport. #rightarm!
