It’s insane how many similarities there are between Irish and Newfoundland music! 🤣 how am I only discovering this now!
Much of NL’s culture is influenced by Irish culture. Of course they brought their music with them when they came over, which then turned into Newfoundland music.
Newfoundland has preserved Irish culture, but its like a snapshot in time from when the mass migration began during the famine.
Its also the only place in the wolrd outside of Europe with a unique irish name. Talamh an Éisc. Land of the fish.
My Grandparents are from Herring Neck near Twillingate, they used to dance well to these types of newfie tunes

There’s so much more out there man. Newfoundland is boring and poor as hell lol. (I mean this in a joking manner) I’m glad I just got away again. Different strokes for different folks I guess. They brainwash you back home though into thinking Newfoundland is the absolute best and it’s so dangerous and scary and it cost way too much to live everywhere else yet my life is easier here in Ottawa,Ontario big time lol rent is like $200 more a month and I make double what I made back home. Everything is here in the city and everything costs less
