This actually tells the story of Rasputin, his rise and fall the terrible legacy he left behind. Whatever else you can say about him, he did have some strange ability not only to make the little tsarevitch stop bleeding, but he also made several predictions that came true. He warned the Tsar not to go to war in 1914, and before his death he predicted that if he were to be assassinated, the dynasty wouldn't last long afterwards. He was murdered in December 1916, and the Romanovs were overthrown the following March.
I was living in West Germany in 1978, employed by the US Government. I never heard this on American Forces Network (AFN) Radio. I heard it today, 6 April 2024, and I love it!!
He knew he would be killed so he predicted two things and both came to pass and it was terrible for Russia. Also, they had to put him at the bottom of the river for nearly 3 days to kill him because after shooting him he was still breathing and did not die the whole day... He was indeed an amazing man and we may never know who he really was because everyone just tells their own stories but the prediction that he made were so accurate and on time that won him everlasting fame.
Yeah, it includes the assumed way he was assassinated at the end. You could argue that the river he was dropped in killed him and it wasn't included, but the official autopsy on his body says otherwise. It also included the bad reputation of Rasputin, partially because the public thought he was negativity affecting the Russian war effort in ww1.

Rasputin's Role in Russia: Who was Rasputin? Rasputin, whose full name was Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin, was a Russian mystic and influential figure during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was born in 1869 in a small Siberian village and gained notoriety for his association with the Russian imperial family, particularly with Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra. Rasputin was known for his supposed healing abilities and charismatic personality, which earned him the favor of the Tsarina, who believed he could help treat her son, Alexei, who suffered from hemophilia, a potentially life-threatening blood disorder. His apparent ability to alleviate the young prince's symptoms earned him a significant role in the imperial court and allowed him to influence political decisions. However, Rasputin's influence and personal behavior became increasingly controversial. He was seen by many as a corrupting force on the Russian monarchy, as he engaged in immoral behavior, including promiscuity and manipulation of his followers. This led to widespread criticism and opposition from various segments of society, including members of the Russian nobility and political figures. On December 30, 1916, a group of aristocrats, led by Prince Felix Yusupov, conspired to assassinate Rasputin due to their belief that he was undermining the country's stability and the authority of the Tsar. Rasputin was invited to Yusupov's palace and given poisoned food and wine. When the poison seemed ineffective, he was shot multiple times but still appeared to be alive. Finally, he was bound and thrown into the Neva River, where he ultimately drowned. This occurred during the tumultuous period of World War I and the Russian Revolution, which eventually led to the downfall of the Romanov dynasty and the establishment of the Soviet Union.

To be fair he didn’t really make a prediction anyone with sense and some prior history knowledge could have counseled the tsar not to do that.
Helps that he was The Master, who'd travelled back in time to set up some stuff against the Doctor
Also, like the song says, poison didn’t seem to have any effect on him.

Rasputin:
There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people look at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the Bible like a preacher
Full of ecstasy and fire

There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow

But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the Bible like a preacher
Full of ecstasy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher

Ra-ra-Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra-ra-Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on
He ruled the Russian land and never mind the Czar
But the kazachok he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
Who would heal her son
Ra-ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra-ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on
But when his drinking and lusting
And his hunger for power
Became known to more and more people
The demands to do something
About this outrageous man
Became louder and louder
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
"This man's just got to go", declared his enemies
But the ladies begged, "Don't you try to do it, please"
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute, they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
"Come to visit us", they kept demanding
And he really came
Ra-ra Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
They put some poison into his wine
Ra-ra Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
He drank it all and said, "I feel fine"
Ra-ra-Rasputin
Lover of the Russian queen
They didn't quit, they wanted his head
Ra-ra-Rasputin
Russia's greatest love machine
And so they shot him 'til he was dead
