    Question
    Why Scrap it off not jet it off at low pressure or high or use 10 or 14 inch whirlaway also why biocide not hypo sodium hypochlorite kill moss and much cleaner results
    It is price or am I missing something
    Thanks Anthony

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  3 роки тому +1

      I used to scrape before I tried pressure washing a roof. Now I mostly pressure wash them, but I think there are still certain situations where it would be better to scrape like if the roof tiles are quite delicate. Hypo can be damaging to the felt lining under the tiles, as well as the tiles themselves. I always use biocide as it doesn’t damage the roof in any way.😃👍🏼

    Hi Ashley, will the biocide kill off weeds on the roof?
    I have a garage roof to clean and there are these plant or weeds growing upwards from the tiles. Not sure if a scraper will be able to get them out so hoping the biocide will kill them off.
    Great videos thanks for the information.

      @aemackintosh  Рік тому

      Biocide will kill off ANY organic growth. What I’ve found though is that the growth may start to grow back before it’s had a chance to drop off the surface, so it will need scraping or removing in some way.😉👍🏼

    Hi buddy thanks for this, very useful!
    Can I ask, what makes your pressure washed able to draw from the container? I have one although it requires a hose connection at the inlet. Many thanks 👍

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  4 роки тому

      It has a small chemical inlet valve and a small pipe to connect to it that came with it, but it can be temperamental really. You can mix a barrel of the chemical at the right strength and let the pressure washer such that up instead of plain water. But to be honest, I prefer to use a pump system to apply chemicals these days.😃👍🏼

    I’ve just got into exterior cleaning business and all set up with the right equipment from spinaclean so I’ve full confidence in the products I’m using so I thought I would be good idea to practice on my bungalow roof today and found the moss removal quit difficult not sure if it’s because it’s very damp at the moment but it just seemed to really clingy to the concrete tiles and although the bulk is coming off there is still lots of scruffy bits left behind which looks unsightly so it best to scrape when it’s more drier and crispier ? Im applying algoclear pro when I’ve finished also using the elite poles with the sky scraper.

    Good evening Ashley,
    I hope you're well. I've learned a lot watching your channel over the last year or so, so thank you for that.
    I have a commercial car garage and small showroom to quote. (I'm their gardener but they've asked me to quote for their roof clean ( I have 90% if the equipment required for the job) I'm sure its been asked alot but is is £3 per m2 give or take for scraping and applying the bio then do you add the cost of the bio on top or does the £3 per m2 include the cost of the materials.
    Thanks for you help kind sir.

      Christian Hack I usually charge around £4 per square meter for scraping and biocide application, but it’s up to you what you charge I suppose depending on the size of the job and how bad it is. I did a video on quoting roofs if you take a look at the Roof Cleaning playlist on my channel.😃👍🏼

      Thanks Ash, I have seen all your videos and find them very informative, I was just trying to get a rough idea of the price. I know I'm at the low end because it's really just a service I will be adding to my current clients.
      Thank again for your help.

      I’m glad you find my channel helpful. I did a video about how to price roof cleaning, if you take a look at the Roof Cleaning playlist on my channel you can find it there.😃👍🏼

      zcitzo 070 I have pressure washed some roofs, but I found it can be quite harsh on the tiles, possibly damage them. This is better on the roof and safer to access this way.💦😃👍🏼

    Hi Ash. How much biocide have you used on this one? How you calculate how much biocide do you need? Thanks:)

    • @aemackintosh
      @aemackintosh  3 роки тому +1

      Can’t remember now. It will depend partly on how you apply it. I started out applying it through my pressure washer, but I realise now that I used much more than I needed to. Now I use a pump system.😃👍🏼

    Dangerous approach on many levels. No harness on the roof. Ladder on the apex. Spraying with no hands on ladder. Jet spraying biocide and wind drift. No face mask in the drift. You teach some dangerous practices and chemicals through the pumps is not good for them. Shame really because good video otherwise.
