The fire has burned over 78,000 acres, destroyed at least 163 structures, and killed at least one person just days after ignition. The fire was caused by a number of lightning strikes, and is named the CZU Lightning Complex Fire.

I live in this war zone. The fire came within 1500 feet of my home. The tireless efforts of these brave heroes, especially our local volunteer departments, prevented our whole valley from being engulfed in flames. From the firefighters I talked to, they said they had never seen anything like this, they were doing all they could just to save structures while the fire swept on by. Sadly over 900 homes lost and counting, we are a close knit community so this was a very special fire fight for the valley departments, they were doing all they could to save the memories of friends and family. They came with all they had, the state fell short in that the resources were spread so thin. Sadly much of the beautiful wooded hillsides are chard and so many structures lay in ash. Kudos to all that participated, wish I could have been along side to help fight this beast. Right now off in the distance the helicopters continue to fly, the fight goes on.
Lol
@@natashabinford6536 wow. Your really gonna laugh at that? I don’t really like people, but *FUCK YOU* in particular
damn that first strike team came in loud and proud, sweet vid man.
Wow I love that first strike team came over that road
That is an insane number of trucks arriving in one place. I've been both an urban and rural volunteer fire fighter in Australia for 8 years. I responded to one of the Black Saturday fires (In the state of Victoria) we had. Even we didn't see that many trucks arrive all at once. Incredible.
Damn, Black Saturday was not a nice event. I remember watching about it on the television in SA, you guys in the CFA did amazing.
@@Adelaide_Transit thanks mate yeah words fail to describe that day.. Sadly, i think those kind of weather conditions are going to be more common.
Damn
Reminds me of when a local city near me had there town square catch fire. They dispatched 30 fire departments some over 30 miles away and from the neighboring state. All you heard was sirens roaring from every direction as lines of fire engines came roaring into the city from both the west south and east sides
Lived in Scotts Valley my whole life, and seeing this is absolutely chilling. This will go down in infamy, but will bring us all closer together in these little mountain towns we live in.
Thank you for this!!! Amazing responses by these heroes!
Yeah it’s great to know that they are always here when we need them!
Great capture
Shout out to santa cruz's first responders
Shout out to the fire trucks in the firefighters
Like the dude with the cut sleaves directing traffic. Amazing response good capture.
glad to see there's not much smoke in Boulder creek
Thanks to the cowboy in the beginning for stopping traffic
Thanks for the video, and Thanks to all the first responders! Hope yall get it under control!
NICE!!! This is going into my Favorite Firetrucks folder!!
Love the thumbnail and some great clean night shots!
I work at the animal shelter in SMC, we're taking in a lot of animals.
Awesome recording bud 👌👍👏
remind me of our fire last year gives me chills hearing sirens still that is when the fire was coming towards town and evacuation was taking place. good video the guy in hat is most likely apart of the fire dept. or he's a CERT member helping with evacuations too.
You know it's real authentic when the dozer is brought in
Looks like we got us a convoy!🚒

God be with all are fire fighters❤
This is pretty tough to watch. I just lived two blocks behind the Boulder Creek fire station for years and years as a kid and went to high school in Felton. Hate to see what is happening there.
Holy shit, wicked air horns on that first clip. Love the random cowboy putting in work, lol!
Got the whole gang from the Village People in that intersection. Cop, cowboy, construction worker...
Santa Cruz and Scotts valley are my backyard highway 9 and 17 I'm retired firefighter from Saratoga keep strong and continues to kick ass
Would love to come out there and help out. Don’t see much brush fires out here in NY.
It's interesting seeing a volunteer department in CA. Never knew they had volunteers over there.
All of the SLV Fire Departments are Volunteer.........
@@MorganMcGinnis Yup
~92% of fire departments in the US are volunteer. Meanwhile here in Vermont, that number is 98% of departments
The guy in the cowboy hat is a true heri for directing the traffic before the police came on seen
Awesome
Bless those firefighters and first responders. Thank God they are going get some rain the next few weeks and some cool weather.
These fires are crazy!
Strike Teams. They do have some nice fire equipment in California; I give em' that.
2:24 damn the fact that you can see the glow of the fire 🔥 that’s gotta be scary 😧
We had a bad wildfire season in wnc back in 2016 we don’t even have a fire season but we had multiple t seemed like every week a new one started we had alot of guys come in from out west and can’t thank them enough not saying we couldn’t have put them out ourselves but we greatly appreciated their assistance and expertise but that year hearing sirens was always worrying. We had 2 fires within about 15 miles of our neighborhood on each side which wasn’t concerning at the time but I live on an embankment and I was woken up by a ton of sirens and my heart sank and when I went outside there was 20 fire trucks parked right out front we had a fire start less than a mile from my house luckily they put it out not long after it had started
1:15 I love that engine
What engine?
@@natashabinford6536 Check the timestamp.

Really with the fcking air horns?
Maybe it is time to rethink California's eco friendly land management approach. Climate change is not the culprit. Radical tree huggers are.
Apparently trees are more important than human life.
