Goldsboro Rebie Road Two Fires 5 30 24

A Farmer was using a Combine to bail wheat straw, when "something" caused a spark (later determined to be a piece of metal, by the Farmer) and caught the field on fire. The "first fire" burned 12.6 acres, but didn't affect the bailed wheat. The 2nd fire, same field, about two hours later, covered 14.1 acres, but, burned all of the bailed wheat and the field. Nearby homes were protected.

Our regular turn out gear protects us. In the Georgia Heat Outdoors, we don’t usually wear a lots. We let our brush trucks or engines do the heavy work.
This being an “open, plowed field” made conditions much easier for us to attack, as dressed.
If this had been “heavy underbrush”, we would have “suited up”, for sure.
