*Always follow your local electrical and building codes. Some areas will allow a 1/4" gap in between your electrical box and finished surface if your wall surface is non-combustible. For combustible walls like wood or for fire-rated walls no gap is allowed. No gap is the best solution to eliminate air-loss on exterior walls, winterizing your home and for soundproofing.
Please follow your local building codes, electrical codes and proper safety measures when working on your home or undertaking any DIY project. When in doubt, hire a licensed electrician. Always turn power off at breaker and double check using a voltage test before undertaking electrical work. Use manufacturer's recommendations when installing all home improvement related products.

That was great. I didn't know extenders were a thing. Thank you!
Thanks BA! There a good problem solver to know about.
I’m a broadcast electrician. Considerably different skill set..
Enjoyed the video, very succinct and informative. Only issue I see is “legal vs not to code”. Incorrect work is only illegal if the local or state jurisdiction has written NEC into statue. Several jurisdictions in the U.S. do not have code as statue thus the statement is “not to NEC code. A few jurisdictions in the U.S. did not even recognize NEC. Not sure if they still exist as I have no need to go back.
@@trailrydr thanks for clarifying your experience with NEC code. I follow NEC guidelines because most of our viewers are American 🇺🇸 ❤️. I’m in Canada and appreciate your experience with the implementation of your regional experience. It’s important to consider and know. Thank-you!

Thank you for this video, I have been looking for this, how to install this box extender.
Fantastic Patricia! You've got this. Box extenders come in handy, especially in older houses.
A beautiful woman who is also handy with tools, what a find!
Thank you
I have an outlet that is in an electrical box that has sheetrock busted around it. It is caving in the wall. How can I fix this?
Great video, but, is this really "illegal" or just "not code compliant"?
Illegal in the definition that it is not sanctioned or permitted. In other words, just fix it!
If the electrical box is loose it may be better to pry it out and install an old work box.
Yes. That’s a good tip if it’s loose. Thanks for sharing that!
Im cornfusled if using the manufactures wiring instructions why is using the back slots bad? If it was so terrible they would no longer produce it with them no?
You can use them. I have often heard electricians complain about them for not working properly and coming loose so I remove them. It's generally frowned upon but ultimately personal choice.
You are so pretty and smart 🤩
Thanks, everyday is an opportunity to learn!
