A warning: last time I played I was very lucky (during the ~pandemic) & got a ton of free levelling content to add to the few expansions I had. Seek those bargains if they still exist *or you will pay a LOT for Lotro.* "Stingy" is correct. If you want a good cheaper MMO, go Guild Wars 2 &/or Star Wars the Old Republic. A one-month one-time SWTOR sub opens a lot of great gaming. KoTOR3 w chat and an AH basically. *As for GW2, it's the best free game.* Then 20 gets you 2 huge xpacs & after that it's about 25 a year. Many years ago I was questing in Caras Galadhon, and there's a quest where you have to light some lanterns along a pathway. I for the life of me couldn't figure out how to light them, and figured the quest was bugged. I submitted a ticket and within a 5-10 mins a gamemaster contacted me and appeared seemingly out of thin air. I can't remember what either of us said, but he/she was friendly enough, and proceeded to light all lanterns for me, and sent me along my merry way. Fast forward like 8 or so years, and I come to realize the quest is only able to be finished during nightfall, hence why I couldn't light the lanterns, haha. Yet they were still nice enough to light them instead of just saying your missing something or did something wrong, figure it out.
Too bad they don't interact with the playerbase that much AT ALL anymore they just release unfinished content and charge us loads of money for it while they advertise their ingame store goodies they spend so much work on :D
LOTRO is the last MMORPGs to remember why people played MMORPGs...to explore. The community has always been the best in gaming. Those reasons have kept it around for a long time.
Exactly! LOTRO is about playing the actual game, not rushing to the end of it. Its about exploring the most vast and thorough adaptation of Middle-earth, experiencing the story, and sharing memories with friends and fellowship.
Truly is the most special of mmo games. A game that never makes the top 15 lists but has the most truly special community ive ever seen in any game. I played from day 1 till about 2 years ago, when I took a break for life reasons. However the itching for the game has never gone away.
I've been a hardcore raider in the past, and wasn't much into RP'ing in games, but one of my best gaming memories ever was in this game, when some friendly people were advertising a feast and concert in one of the towns. It amazed me the synchronization of people playing the instruments together amongst other things.
Havent tried lotro yet, but the different difficulty levels they added that you can choose in the overworld looks like an interesting take on the often criticised easy overworld difficulty of modern mmos. Deffinitly peaked my interest in a game i had previously forgotton about.
There aren't that many other MMOs with that feature. The only other 2 MMOs I know of with that is like are GW1 I think, been a long time so not sure on that one. But the other, City of Heroes, 100% has that ability, where you can pick both the Difficulty of enemies compared to yourself. Up to 3 levels higher (Anything higher and you out right can't even touch it or do damage) But also able to set how many enemies spawn. When Solo, a 'Group' of enemies might be 2-3 enemies. The max amount of people in a group is 8 and can be like 10 enemies in a group. So you can set your personal difficulty, (And will be the group difficulty if your the leader), to be as easy, or hard, as needed for your class and playstyle.
LOTRO is one of maybe 3 games that I don't mind creating new characters and doing the content over again. There's so much to the game - to see, to do, the explore, and it manages to (mostly) stay true to the lore. Great video, glad I caught it on the premiere! Baruk Khazad!
thank you for mentioning the music community and as an active musician of 8 years in game, i appreciate the exposure and would be more than happy to help with any future questions
I haven’t ever played LOTRO before, but I’m a huge fan of the books. Your video is making me download it to try to live a new adventure with this amazing community that you talked about. Thank you for your content and I’m hoping to be part of this marvelous community.
Echoing the importance of the journey, LOTRO was the first MMORPG that truly captured me and I've been playing continuously since Evendim was first patched in back in 2007/2008. Lately, I've been playing FFXIV and found that it also echoes that journey, with you having to go through the MSQ to unlock features and places, quite like LOTRO and the Volumes and Books.
I remember always watching my aunt play LOTRO, and now I'm playing with her on LOTRO :) Ive always loved LOTRO's community, like a few weeks ago I saw a fishing party and they were having friendly chats, always seeing people help each other out in the chat, and I haven't seen any arguments since I started playing, Even though I'm quite new to the game (played for 10 minutes in 2019 and started playing for hours last month) the community really showed me and gave me directions what to do and where to go. And I am so happy this game hasnt come close to dying.
@@aubreytheweirdone As the beginner who just found out LOTRO, this video is somehow needed. Previously, I only you the gamer reference who introduce this indirectly by consistently playing it in your live stream ✨🙏🏻💯
I stumbled across LOTRO during open beta, having never played an MMO before, and was instantly hooked. I played hard core for a couple years and then casually on an off for the last 17 years. I was so active with the social world I made several friendships that lasted years with people that lived thousands of miles away and made arrangments to meet them in person. The game attracts my kind of people. I hope they can keep it going for many many more years to come. It feels like coming home whenever I start it back up. I agree with taking it slow. I got the max level back when it was 50 then 60 but since then I have taken my time. I'm still not at max level with my main character and I am ok with that. I play the most during the seasonal festivals, I find doing their festival questing so cozy and relaxing. I love waking through bree and coming across 30 people doing a music festival or stumbling across a theater rehearsal at the festival ground. This year I have been slowly going through the Rohan content and I'm still loving it. I hope they can keep it going for many many more years to come. After loving LOTRO I tried many many other MMO's but none have brought me back time and time again like LOTRO.
I love Lotr, when I played Lotro it was amazing, I love all events, farming and professions, everything. I just don't have time, at some point I get overwhelmed with how many side quest you can do. If you have time, don't hesitate and play it. Even for free you get a ton of content to enjoy. I wish I can play Lotro in the future.
As long as it keeps the flexability of being able to move, edit, resize all the elements. I would HATE a modern look, that I could not edit. This is why I love games like WoW SWToR, over MMOs like Arch, Silkroad, and others where I don't have any control.
I was an elf minstrel and joined when the Moria expansion released, I was totally amazed by the whole game, the subject matter, the visuals and musics. Many friends were made along the ways over the years, and we eventually parted ways, as our quest in Mirkwood was done, as all things must come to and end. Lots of memories of the silly and fun things we did, lovely community. Best parts was to organize concerts at Bree, playing hide and seek in the Shire, exploring and sometimes yeah, beating a cool boss of course ^^ Haven't played for over a decade, but I'm always tempted to go back. I'm very happy to learn that the game is still doing good!
@@Burning-Embers thanks for being on there. It was really interesting, and your videos was actually what got me to download the game for the first time about a year ago, so thank you for that.
Just got to the end, this video was very well done! I appreciate some light being shed on one of my all time favorite games! I've been playing for almost 8 years now, the story is so good that, I kid you not, it has brought me to tears. I keep trying to get my friends to play, but most of them are too busy with new games that are coming out. Even if they could just make it through the lone lands, I would be happy. Garth Agarwen is one of my favorite early game areas. It's intense with an insane amount of lore and a great story! And literally just outside of bree. I love all the late game stuff too, but but I can't rightfully hype up Gundabad and then go, "and it'll only take you a few years to get there!". Better to get them exited to play early game stuff and string them along lol
I remember seeing the Announcement for Lord of the rings online in a magazine when i was a kid. I did not expect this game to STILL exist. And not only does it still exist, it even stayed pretty true to the "real" (tolkien) LOTR apparently! I should give it a try, thanks for the video!
Good timing with the video. I just jumped in after hearing about the legendary servers which just launched. Tried a few times before, but never gave it my full attention. I'm looking for that old school MMO feel and so far I'm enjoying it.
@@Dreadskull91 I never played lotro, there was just so much negativity that I read about it.. and being a healer main in MMOs the repeated acknowledgement of its lack of players by people around the internet further deterred me from trying. How is the population of these new servers?
WOW! This is, in my opinion, your best work to date! The timing of the soundtracks and quotes, show cases of the world, interviews and the well-worded descriptions of LOTRO - you put word on many things on how i feel about this game. Been playing on and off since Shadows of Angmar and i am very happy that they have preserved the game philosophy. As you put it "The journey is the reward" is the perfect way to describe this game.
I just started playing this a couple days ago. It works great on steam deck and my pc. What Ive been enjoying is the pacing and story. The game just feels really well done.
Do you run it on Steam? And do you know if it scales well with modern resolutions? I play games on a 32" 1440p monitor and I'm always worried about scaling when it comes to older games like LOTRO.
I downloaded it via Steam yet I play it through OneLauncher. I only have a 3050, so I run at 1080 with maxed graphics (while recording). You could, however, look into upscaling technologies until they update their UI. 💖
I played LOTRO back in beta, and fell in love with it, played in Landroval for many years as a RPer. I was 17 then!... and now am 34. I think its about time for a return, because this video reminded me so much of all the things I loved about it. Cheers!
Founder and lifetimer here. I still remember the emotion (and yes, tears), the first time I looked out from Weathertop or came out of the path onto Rivendell for the first time and then plunged to my death because going to fast, lol. I remember the kin competitions doing the 'troll run' to Rivendell at low levels for the fun of it, and months on end of raids until late trying to do the Rift, back when it was really hard. Then I took an 18 month break because of RL stuff, but I'm still playing now 17 years later, and will for as long as the game exists. Thank you for this
Absolutely legendary video. Outstanding quality and editing. Most excellent, Sir. I know how much work goes into something like this and I commend you!!!
First of all, great video - subbed! Second, I love this game and its community. However, unfortunately.... the lag that we've experienced for years slowly killed it. Even though 64 bit is coming, it's a little to late (Hopefully I am wrong.). The other thing that really hurts the game is the UI not being updated to even fully support 1080p to this day...Good luck if you are 1440p or 4k.
I would say the player character is more important in the game than just a common soldier. In fact, they had to come up with a good reason for the character to NOT do with the fellowship. Size and needing us to remain behind to cover their tracks and deal with Angmar. From this point, I see the player as the unsung hero/nameless face of the one(s) who behind the scenes dealt with all the roadblocks and threats seeking to stop the Company from their goals. Galadriel even comments on our peculiar fate within the world. We are to the entire Fellowship and then all of Middle Earth as Sam Wise was to Frodo.
I was born in 93, so I of course watched the movies and loved them very much. I didn't read the books until later in life and until recently, I just started the Silmarillion. Growing up WoW was already very popular, so that was the mmorpg I played. I am very curious about this game though. Tolkien's works are top tier after all
I have started playing LOTRO in 2012. I can to it from DDO which have played since 2005. Both games are great testaments of being true to their source material. DDO is so old that it has a worse UI problem and frustrating group mechanics. When I played LOTRO I was floored by how incredible Middle Earth is represented. There is an immersion that is constant in the game. Other than EVE Online, I have never played another game that I could just travel around the world for hours and not get frustrated or bored. The UI for LOTRO will do much to improve the user experience. Standing Stones game does a great job with both these titles and has proven small dedicated market MMOs can last! Thanks for the great video!
I'm so glad the music system got a mention. It's such a special feature for me. I've made so many friends on Landroval, and some of the other servers, through music in this game. :D
I took another trip to LOTRO two months ago and got stuck. I played it for a few years in Relaese and then tried a few other MMOs. What can I say, LOTRO is one of the best MMO's out there, the graphics even though they are getting on in years are still some of the best I have seen in an MMO. Every single detail, the design of the different areas, the atmosphere that this old MMO brings with it, I have never experienced this in any MMO. There is one more MMO, The Secret World by Funcom, which also has a unique atmosphere, but that's another story. What I like best is that LOTRO slows you down, you sit down and play it, but not in order to reach the end content as quickly as possible. LOTRO is played for the story, exploring every corner, RP is still omnipresent etc. and the community is one of the nicest there is. LOTRO will outlast some newer MMOs and this old MMO deserves it.🙂
Playing LOTRO right now! Laurelin server. I'm 24 years old, I playing this game since 2011. From Siberia with love! Nicknames: Lindeorn, Kelglas, Filavarien, Bolgeir, Nandelin, Amalarich. See you in Lothlorien with love!
The only game I have on my pc constantly (upgraded replaced etc) for 17 years even though sometimes I neglect it for even a year. I have so much lovely memories, its part of me.
Had to quit playing at the start of this year to focus on my thesis. Now that I have some free time on my hands again this video got recommended to me. That can’t be a coincidence, time to return to the one MMO that always has me coming back for more. Thank you for this amazing video! I hope it encourages more people to either return to LOTRO or pick it up for the first time.
This is wonderful. I have been looking for a video like this for years to explain to people how and why I am entranced with this game, as a fan of the books, but previously a non-gamer. (Katemirh on Landroval)
I love LOTRO, back in 2009 me and my 2 other best friends no life’d this game for a year or two! Soo many good memories man! I would definitely go back and play, but it would be really cool if the devs gave this beloved gem a lil graphical overhaul! It deserves it!
Amazing game. I truly miss it. Ive been waiting for years for 4k support... my eyes are not as young as they used to be! Still holding out for hope... Beautiful video, thank you.
I haven’t played it for 14 years. What I remember was that some quests required a small fellowship and it was so hard to find players. I spent days trying to find players when lvling. The good thing I remember was my kinship run by Whitedoom, he was a great leader. The lore was amazing as well. I wonder how I will feel about the aged graphics today. Maybe I should give it a new chance.
One thing I like is how characters weave in and out of your own story. Like Sara Oakheart in the early story, the stories are long-term, and it encourages you to READ the actual quest stories - not all, but most.
one of the best video's Ever on LOTRO , one of my favorite mmo's of all time (started in 2011 went too 2018 or 19, came back during Covid 2-3 years ago and havent stopped! Love this game and allways a special place in my heart )
That's what I'm stuck on now. Still setting up my UI and controls but can't see the microscopic UI on my 55" 4k monitor. I'm not seeing an option to scale the hot bars.
Correction: Some things can't be scaled, but most things can. You can set the scale of HUD elements at the bottom of the UI settings panel in the settings. At 1440p I recommend 1.25. You can also set the font sizes in the chat window in the chat settings. For both quest dialogs and the quest text in the quest log, at the bottom of the window there will be up and down arrows by an Aa icon that can be used to change the font size. You can also toggle the ability to re-arrange hud elements by pressing ctrl+\
First, I love that you mentioned Arelith, so you have gained a forever subscriber just on that - sounds like I'm going to have to watch your series on that, too! I also agree 100% Pre-2010s MMOs are still most definitely relevant, and they are different than other more "end-game" MMOs for a reason. Fantastic video.
I tried this out briefly a couple years ago, choosing a Dwarve as my character and wasn't impressed by the standard MMO action bar, the ancient UI, or the slow pace of the first areas. Admittedly I was playing it like any of the other MMOs that I've played and dropped, I wasn't playing it like a journey, and maybe that's where I fell short. I'm a Runescape player, I've been playing that since 2006 and up until the Wilderness(PVP) was scrapped I had run around Gielenor interacting with every NPC I could, seeing the sights, reading lore, doing quests, interacting with players etc. For an hour every day after school I was on a journey(library computers) and those journeys led to amazing encounters I still fondly reminisce about to this day. So I'm redownloading LOTRO right now and I'm going to take it slow, i'm going to enjoy the sights, and I'm going to explore the world of my favorite fantasy setting hoping to find myself in an unexpected journey. Thanks for the video. Wish me luck :)
I haven't played it, yet I hope it finds an audience that loves it. I haven't seen anything it provides that casters to my preferences, but that's okay. What about you? 🥰
Man THANKS a lot for doing this great service for the game i love since 2012, its really the best LOTR there is and my favorite game ever, ive been playing my first class after a return for 4 years and i can say that living inside rhe role of a characater in such a big world is transforming.
I used to be this game's veteran, and I must tell you it's not even close to what it used to be. Helm's Deep is probably one of my worst ecxperiances in this game.
Judging from the comments most people have played LOTRO before here so they have a soft spot for it. But as a new player, its a game stuck in 2007. From the UI to the map, its frustrating and not intuitive for modern PC's. Why doesnt that get overhauled? Also living outside of the US/EU means 300 ms and its frustrating. As a fan of Lotr i really wanted to get into it, but on the technical side there was too much issues 😢
I have hundrets of hours in the game never got past lvl 60 because all I did was chilling in Bree, chatting with other players, playing music, crafting and trading. such an awesome game with the best community
Now if they could just overhaul the absolutely horrible UI that people have been complaining about for yeeears... You cannot play the game at higher resolutions, as the UI scaling doesn't do its job properly and too many UI elements don't scale and end up tiny. I also think the level cap needs to shrink. Not necessarily make it take less time to reach max level, but just the number. 150 feels overbloated and levels don't feel impactful.
lotro has the best music system in any mmo ever. I really wish other games had it. I used to play in a group back in the day and loved every minute of it lol
Just came across this video this morning while sipping my coffee. Such good news! I'm getting back into gaming and this will be one of the games I play. Thank you for rhe video sir! 🗡️ 🛡️ 🪓 🏹 ❤
I don´t like that really old Graphics, sorry, but it is really bad nad ugly :-/ I am waiting for Amazons new Lord of the Rings Game, we will see :) in the mean while ESO is the way :)
I used to play LOTRO back in the day. I leveled most of the classes but my main character was the Warden. The level cap was L75. As a gaming vet with tons of experiences in MMO, RPGs, etc., LOTRO is definitely one of the best MMO experiences/memories that I ever had. It's F2P & yes you can have the ability to earn premium currencies! If only we have more than 24 hours =) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I have played this on and off over the years a truly great mmo in one of the best settings IMHO, but sadly my time is monopolised by a very busy job so I have to manage my free time and maximise what I play, if I get more time I would love to jump back into this magical game also as an aside I loved the crafting in this game one of the best I have ever used felt so rewarding! Keep the servers alive folks may this game continue into the far future.
I still remember my friend telling me the game was coming out and there were closed beta codes in that months issue of PC Gamer. So I ran down to the book store and bought it. I played from closed beta to the release of Rohan. None of my friends played by that point so it was the end for me but I loved adventuring around in that game.
Woah, my tired voice was so deep that I would've not as easily recognized it if it wasn't for the leadup. 😂 (40:51) Great video, dude; I found myself strapped in for an even longer watch 👀, wanting more. I want an extended cut xD, though I get that putting all this together takes a lot of work. You could make an audio-only podcast episode out of more of what the players said (though that means I'd have to hear my tired voice again, haha).
2000s MMOs are a mood. So much ambition to create interesting worlds and gameplay, whilst being content packed for co-op gameplay, minus the fomo of modern day gaming.
Good stuff! I hope to see more videos from you. You're passionate and your editing is peak! Allow me to yap for a moment. "It's the journey, not the destination" is an old saying and it's very accurate for lotro. But for the love of Eru make that journey. If you've played for hundreds of hours and still haven't seen what lies outside of Bree, you don't know what you're missing. Lotro's community -and this applies to other MMOs also- is not one fixed entity. In other words there is no "one" community. I want people to understand that the playerbase is way more diverse and engaged than what is often seen from the surface. And the range of players and activities the game has can't possibly be covered in one video. But what this video does cover, it covers pretty well Shout out to my boys Nenaras and Aranarion. You made the cut! Mike Wazowski sends his regards! :D
Thank you for the thoughtful reply! You'll "make the cut" for the next installment; sorry about the unintentional omission. I hope to cover more PvP next time too! 🥰
Haha don't apologize! The thing I was keen to see was the video itself. The discourse surrounding it has been productive. We look forward to more videos from you!

There aren't that many other MMOs with that feature. The only other 2 MMOs I know of with that is like are GW1 I think, been a long time so not sure on that one.
I didn't expect a documentary style video, but it got me hyped for the game again

I haven’t ever played LOTRO before, but I’m a huge fan of the books. Your video is making me download it to try to live a new adventure with this amazing community that you talked about. Thank you for your content and I’m hoping to be part of this marvelous community.
💖
Echoing the importance of the journey, LOTRO was the first MMORPG that truly captured me and I've been playing continuously since Evendim was first patched in back in 2007/2008. Lately, I've been playing FFXIV and found that it also echoes that journey, with you having to go through the MSQ to unlock features and places, quite like LOTRO and the Volumes and Books.
🥰
I remember always watching my aunt play LOTRO, and now I'm playing with her on LOTRO :)
Ive always loved LOTRO's community, like a few weeks ago I saw a fishing party and they were having friendly chats, always seeing people help each other out in the chat, and I haven't seen any arguments since I started playing, Even though I'm quite new to the game (played for 10 minutes in 2019 and started playing for hours last month) the community really showed me and gave me directions what to do and where to go. And I am so happy this game hasnt come close to dying.

Thanks for having me in the video! It was a great watch!

💖
I love Lotr, when I played Lotro it was amazing, I love all events, farming and professions, everything. I just don't have time, at some point I get overwhelmed with how many side quest you can do.
If you have time, don't hesitate and play it. Even for free you get a ton of content to enjoy.
I wish I can play Lotro in the future.

@@MarleMMO got yourself another sub! I appreciate how you covered the essence of LOTRO perfectly in this video ❤️
@JennaRose957 Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. 🥰
If the UI was updated this wouldn't even look like an old game anymore.
I agree! 💖
As long as it keeps the flexability of being able to move, edit, resize all the elements. I would HATE a modern look, that I could not edit. This is why I love games like WoW SWToR, over MMOs like Arch, Silkroad, and others where I don't have any control.
and I'm sure they've kept note and they wont be updating the unique UI anytime soon.
@boifo7565 in a recent stream they did communicate that they're working on a UI update. 🥰
Best parts was to organize concerts at Bree, playing hide and seek in the Shire, exploring and sometimes yeah, beating a cool boss of course ^^
Haven't played for over a decade, but I'm always tempted to go back. I'm very happy to learn that the game is still doing good!
💖
Thanks for having me, I can't imagine the amount of work that has gone into this amount of interviews. Definitely paid off!
Appreciate you buddy! Here's to next time! 🥰

🥰
I remember seeing the Announcement for Lord of the rings online in a magazine when i was a kid. I did not expect this game to STILL exist. And not only does it still exist, it even stayed pretty true to the "real" (tolkien) LOTR apparently! I should give it a try, thanks for the video!
🥰
Good timing with the video. I just jumped in after hearing about the legendary servers which just launched. Tried a few times before, but never gave it my full attention. I'm looking for that old school MMO feel and so far I'm enjoying it.
Glad to hear! 🥰
@@Dreadskull91 I never played lotro, there was just so much negativity that I read about it.. and being a healer main in MMOs the repeated acknowledgement of its lack of players by people around the internet further deterred me from trying. How is the population of these new servers?
I haven't played the new servers yet I always found people with whom to group on live. 💖
@@mlg_maxxi3502 Oh the population on the new legendary servers is very robust. At least for now.
Thank you for the kind words! LOTRO made it easy. 💖
I just started playing this a couple days ago. It works great on steam deck and my pc. What Ive been enjoying is the pacing and story. The game just feels really well done.
Glad to hear! 🥰
So it supports controller? Or you use keyboard?
@@regulargamedev3295 There is a really good community controller profile for the steam deck.
Cheers!
💖
Founder and lifetimer here. I still remember the emotion (and yes, tears), the first time I looked out from Weathertop or came out of the path onto Rivendell for the first time and then plunged to my death because going to fast, lol. I remember the kin competitions doing the 'troll run' to Rivendell at low levels for the fun of it, and months on end of raids until late trying to do the Rift, back when it was really hard. Then I took an 18 month break because of RL stuff, but I'm still playing now 17 years later, and will for as long as the game exists. Thank you for this
🥰
Absolutely legendary video. Outstanding quality and editing. Most excellent, Sir. I know how much work goes into something like this and I commend you!!!
Thank you kind sir! 🥰
My first toon was a captain and still is my favorite character. Plus it honors Tolkiens work and that alone makes it magical.
💖
First of all, great video - subbed! Second, I love this game and its community. However, unfortunately.... the lag that we've experienced for years slowly killed it. Even though 64 bit is coming, it's a little to late (Hopefully I am wrong.). The other thing that really hurts the game is the UI not being updated to even fully support 1080p to this day...Good luck if you are 1440p or 4k.
Thank you! Here's to hoping for "live" 64 bit servers and for a UI update. 🥰
Been playing since 2011. Still remains a cornerstone for me. Thank you for making this video
💖
Played a long time ago, but Lotro still the best true mmorpg community out there
🥰
I’m convinced. Been playing a lore master since watching this video. Great vibe I’m having a blast thanks for the suggestion!
🥰
I would say the player character is more important in the game than just a common soldier. In fact, they had to come up with a good reason for the character to NOT do with the fellowship. Size and needing us to remain behind to cover their tracks and deal with Angmar. From this point, I see the player as the unsung hero/nameless face of the one(s) who behind the scenes dealt with all the roadblocks and threats seeking to stop the Company from their goals. Galadriel even comments on our peculiar fate within the world. We are to the entire Fellowship and then all of Middle Earth as Sam Wise was to Frodo.
Fair point! 💖
Im glad they introduced Legendary servers. Its awesome to do Carn Dum the older instances and experience the game with a fresh start.
🥰
I was born in 93, so I of course watched the movies and loved them very much. I didn't read the books until later in life and until recently, I just started the Silmarillion. Growing up WoW was already very popular, so that was the mmorpg I played. I am very curious about this game though. Tolkien's works are top tier after all
🥰
stay away. the game is not good
I have started playing LOTRO in 2012.
💖
I'm so glad the music system got a mention. It's such a special feature for me. I've made so many friends on Landroval, and some of the other servers, through music in this game. :D
🥰

I haven’t played it for 14 years. What I remember was that some quests required a small fellowship and it was so hard to find players. I spent days trying to find players when lvling. The good thing I remember was my kinship run by Whitedoom, he was a great leader. The lore was amazing as well. I wonder how I will feel about the aged graphics today. Maybe I should give it a new chance.
🥰
One thing I like is how characters weave in and out of your own story. Like Sara Oakheart in the early story, the stories are long-term, and it encourages you to READ the actual quest stories - not all, but most.

Can you change UI size now? On 2k res it was unplayable for me last time i tried
That's what I'm stuck on now. Still setting up my UI and controls but can't see the microscopic UI on my 55" 4k monitor. I'm not seeing an option to scale the hot bars.
I didn't think so. 😭
sadly this is not fixed, im in the same boat. eye pain forever.
@user-fo7hg9ur9z 😕

I really love lotro, but everytime i came back to it that UI just destroys my will to play:)
Totally valid critique! 🥰
Totally fair! 🥰

I have hundrets of hours in the game never got past lvl 60 because all I did was chilling in Bree, chatting with other players, playing music, crafting and trading. such an awesome game with the best community
💖
Now if they could just overhaul the absolutely horrible UI that people have been complaining about for yeeears... You cannot play the game at higher resolutions, as the UI scaling doesn't do its job properly and too many UI elements don't scale and end up tiny.
I also think the level cap needs to shrink. Not necessarily make it take less time to reach max level, but just the number. 150 feels overbloated and levels don't feel impactful.
Hopefully the UI is one of their top priorities. 🥰
lotro has the best music system in any mmo ever. I really wish other games had it. I used to play in a group back in the day and loved every minute of it lol

Great video, dude; I found myself strapped in for an even longer watch 👀, wanting more. I want an extended cut xD, though I get that putting all this together takes a lot of work. You could make an audio-only podcast episode out of more of what the players said (though that means I'd have to hear my tired voice again, haha).
I appreciate the kind words! I may release the full conversations but they tend to not perform well. We'll see. 🥰
I would be very happy if a UA-camr like you saw a game called the 4th coming, it was the game of my childhood.

2000s MMOs are a mood. So much ambition to create interesting worlds and gameplay, whilst being content packed for co-op gameplay, minus the fomo of modern day gaming.
💖
But what this video does cover, it covers pretty well
Shout out to my boys Nenaras and Aranarion. You made the cut! Mike Wazowski sends his regards! :D
Thank you for the thoughtful reply! You'll "make the cut" for the next installment; sorry about the unintentional omission. I hope to cover more PvP next time too! 🥰
